Chapter 16

"Baby? C'mon, time to get up."

Izuku made a soft noise that was a mix between a whine and a groan, burying his head further into his pillow. He was warm and comfortable. Why the hell did he need to get up?

A breathy laugh sounded from above him. "C'mon, mi corazon. You gotta wake up."

Izuku opened one eye, narrowing it up at Sero in an accusing way. A small yawn left his lips before he could talk. "What does that mean? You promised you'd teach me Spanish, you know," he groggily complained before his face was back in the pillow beneath him.

"Later, baby. Right now, all you gotta do is wake up," Sero teased, brushing the curls at the top of Izuku's head back.

He groaned as he rolled onto his back, his eyes opening and glaring at the ceiling. "I don't wanna be awake," he said with a frown. "Can't I just hide in here for the rest of my life?"

Sero chuckled at the request while stretching his arms above his head. "As much as I'd love to hide you away from everyone else forever, we've got plans for today."

"We do?" Izuku asked, looking over at the other man with furrowed brows. He didn't remember them making any plans.

Sero hummed with a nod as he got out of bed and threw on a hoodie. "We do. You're mine for the day. We're gonna go do something fun," he promised, shooting a wink in Izuku's direction.

The shorter man sat up, his frown deepening. It wasn't that he didn't want to hang out with Sero because he definitely did. He just... didn't want to be a person for the day. He wanted to sit and rot in his misery, not try to get past it.

"I need to go home," he insisted. "I need to change and brush my teeth and stuff."

Sero smirked at him, already knowing what he was trying to do and being one step ahead. "Five dudes and Ashido live in this house; we'll find you something to wear, and there're spare toothbrushes in the bathroom. Any other requests, mi corazon?"

"Yes," Izuku said with a huff, throwing the blankets off of him and standing up. "What does that mean?"

Sero took a step closer to him, closing the distance between them until they were chest-to-chest. His smirk hadn't disappeared as he said, "Google it."

"No, that defeats the purpose of whatever flirty thing you're calling me," Izuku said, not moving or backing down.

With a playful roll of his eyes, Sero bumped his forehead against Izuku's and took a step back. "Then you'll have to wait. You wanna borrow clothes from me or Denki?"

Izuku looked down at himself before narrowing his eyes over Sero's body. "Denki for pants, he's closer to my size. I'm taking your hoodie, though. It's gonna be mine by the end of the day," he threatened, turning his nose up dramatically.

A genuine smile took over Sero's features as he lightly shook his head. He nodded toward his closet as he headed to his bedroom door. "Take your pick, baby, whichever you want. I'm gonna go get you pants, but I'll be right back, okay?"

If Izuku had been using his head (and wasn't so distracted by the idea of taking whatever hoodie he wanted), he would have realized how gentle Sero was being with him. Before he left, he told him exactly where he was going, what he was doing, and made sure Izuku knew he was coming back. After last night, he wanted to make sure Izuku knew he wasn't being abandoned again. If he'd realized what the other man was doing, he would have been bright red. Maybe it was a good thing the dots didn't connect until much later.

"Yeah, okay," he said, already beelining for the closet. He was flipping through Sero's hoodies while the dark-haired man laughed and left the room.

Sero had a lot of hoodies, like a lot of them. It made sense to Izuku, seeing as he rarely saw the man in anything else. There were countless options, but he already knew which one he wanted. He felt a little bad, seeing as the orange-yellow hoodie seemed to be Sero's favorite (it was the one he wore most often), but it was so soft. If Izuku had free rein over Sero's closet, that was the one he wanted.

He found it quickly, almost squealing in excitement at the sight of it. He stopped himself from throwing it on, suddenly hyper-aware of the fact he needed to shower. His whole body felt gross after last night, and he needed to wash the feeling off.

With a newfound determination, he peeked his head out of Sero's room. He spotted the other man down the hall talking to Kaminari. The blond was wiggling his eyebrows and teasing him over something, but Sero didn't seem to mind too much. He was still smiling and taking everything Kaminari threw at him, which included the pair of dark joggers Izuku figured were for him.

He stepped out of the room, quickly making his way down the hall and snatching the pants out of Sero's hands before either of them noticed him. "I need to shower," Izuku stated, looking between the two men. "Can whatever you planned without my knowledge wait twenty minutes?"

"Of course, Iz," Sero said, nodding down the hall. "You know where everything is, right?"

"Yes," Izuku confirmed with an indignant huff. "You're acting weird today," he grumbled as he started down the hall with his new clothes in his arms.

"Yeah, dude," he heard Kaminari drawl as he left. "You're acting weird."

"Shut up," Sero grumbled just as Izuku shut the door to the upstairs bathroom.

He softly laughed to himself as he grabbed a spare towel out of one of the cabinets.

His shower was a quick and painless affair. He used what he knew was Bakugou's shampoo and conditioner. From growing up with the guy, he knew how particular he was about his hygiene. If Izuku was being honest, the blond would probably notice that someone had used his stuff, but that's what he was hoping for. Just because they were on good terms again didn't mean Izuku was done annoying the shit out of him. He was a little brother, after all.

He almost used Bakugou's body wash, too, just to really piss him off, but then he realized he could use Sero's. He could smell like the dark-haired man all day. Yeah, he wasn't passing up that opportunity. Sero smelt good

After his shower, he got dressed and searched for a spare toothbrush. It didn't take him long to find, and soon he was exiting the bathroom as a new man. He felt much better now that he was clean and drowning in Sero's hoodie.

He quickly made his way back to Sero's room, happy to find the other man already there and dressed.

He smiled as he saw Izuku in his hoodie, a dopey sort of grin that Izuku didn't get to see often. "You wanna use my cologne, too?"

It was a tease, and Izuku knew that. It didn't stop him from agreeing a little too quickly, though.

"Do I get to know where we're going?" Izuku asked as Sero led him down the stairs.

"The kitchen," he said back with a faint chuckle.

Izuku pouted at the cheeky response. "After breakfast, asshole."

"Stop trying to ruin the surprise, baby," Sero chided as they entered the kitchen.

Bakugou, Kirishima, and Ashido were already there. The blond had apparently made breakfast, nothing fancy, just bacon and eggs. Izuku was starving, though, so he didn't care what it was. It was food.

"Here, nerd," Bakugou said, shoving a plate full of scrambled eggs into Izuku's hands.

Izuku smiled up at him, not realizing until that moment how much he'd actually missed his big brother. "Thanks, Kacchan."

Kirishima frowned, his eyes trailing from the plate to his boyfriend. "Babe, you didn't give him any bacon."

"Deku doesn't eat bacon," Bakugou said with a huff, turning back to the stove. "The texture drives him fucking crazy."

"Awe, Kacchan," Izuku cooed, heading to the table with a beaming smile. "You remember my sensory issues."

"I grew up with your picky ass. Of course, I fucking remember!"

Sero slid into the chair next to him, bumping their knees together as he did. "So, no bacon?" he asked conversationally.

Izuku shook his head, shoveling eggs into his mouth with a small moan. He wasn't sure what Bakugou did to make scrambled eggs a delicacy, but he wasn't complaining. "Actually, I kinda like it when it's super crispy, but Kacchan doesn't like crispy bacon, so I usually just don't eat it," he explained in between bites.

Four bites later, perfectly crisp bacon was dropped onto his plate by a disgruntled Bakugou. "I didn't know that," he complained as he moved back to his post at the stove.

Izuku happily took a bite, leaning back in his chair as he watched his brother's back. "It happened like three months ago. Don't beat yourself up over it," he teased.

"I'm not!"

Ashido was sitting across the table from Izuku and smiled over at him. "Whatcha up to today, Midoriya? You gonna hang out here with the guys?"

Izuku shook his head, glancing over at Sero, who looked a little too happy for breakfast. "Hanta's stealing me today. He won't even tell me what we're doing," he complained, pursing his lips in distaste. He wasn't a fan of surprises.

Ashido sat up, her smile widening as she looked over at the dark-haired man. "Oh, he is?"

At the same time, Bakugou whirled around, pointing his spatula at Sero menacingly. "Don't you dare be a fucking idiot, ya got it?"

"Kacchan," Izuku whined, letting his hand support the weight of his head as he frowned at his big brother.

"No," Bakugou said in a stern voice, his glaring red eyes never leaving Sero. "He's an idiot on a good day. He needs to hear this."

Sero held up one hand as if he was taking an oath. "I swear to not be an idiot."

"You're both idiots," Izuku stated around a bite of eggs. All in all, he was pretty content. He smelt like one of his favorite people, he was in warm and comfy clothes, and he was fed. He was starting to think his luck was turning around.

"A fair?" Izuku asked in surprise as Sero led him by the hand toward flashing lights and carnival tents.

The other man wore a broad grin as he nodded. "I thought it'd be fun. They do it every year to raise money for different campus programs. There's a bunch of games, food, rides, all the typical fair shit."

Izuku couldn't have fought off his smile if he tried. Sero brought him to a fair. It was so cheesy and stupid, and exactly what he'd expect out of him. He loved it.

"What'd you wanna do first, baby?" Sero asked, tugging Izuku to a halt once they got through the entrance.

Izuku's eyes were darting all around, taking in everything the fairgrounds had to offer. "Games first?" he asked, a little shyly. They're hang out suddenly felt like a date, and he'd so rarely been on one of those. He wasn't exactly sure how to act. "We can do rides once it gets dark because then all the lights will come on, and it'll look super cool. Oh, wait, it's only, like, noon. We probably won't be here late enough for the lights to come on. I guess there's no point waiting then, so it doesn't really matter what we do-"

"Iz," Sero called, his bright smile dimming slightly to a soft and smitten sort of expression. "Take a breath. There's no stress today. If you wanna play games all day until the lights come on, then that's what we'll do. Or, if you get bored, we can head back to the house until it gets dark and then come back. I'm down for whatever."

Izuku was utterly speechless, staring up at Sero with wide and awe-filled eyes. "Do you really mean it?" he asked softly.

Sero chuckled at the question, pulling Izuku along toward the rows of game stalls. "Of course I do. Today is about you having fun, mi corazon. Just tell me what you want to do, and we'll do it."

Smiling softly at the ground below him, he leaned closer to Sero's side. "I want you to teach me Spanish," he teased.

"No can do, baby. Try again later."

"You're impossible," he said with a laugh.

Sero wiggled his brows, "Impossibly handsome, you mean."

Izuku hummed as he thought about it. "Yes, but also impossibly annoying."

Sero let out a boisterous laugh at the jab. "Hey, I'll take it. You still think I'm handsome."

"I'm not blind."

Ah be still my serodeku heart.
