Chapter 14

Izuku woke up the next morning in his own bed with most of his memories intact. They got a little fuzzy as the night got later, but it was mostly just the drive home with Sero and Kaminari. He did vividly remember telling his dark-haired friend to stop calling him baby, though. He also remembered how he refused to let them leave after dropping him at home, and they all ended up crashing on his bed after a movie.

Wow, way to not give mixed signals.

He groaned as he rolled over, only to run into something. Popping one eye open, he found Sero with a lazy smile, looking down at him. "Well, good morning, sunshine."

Izuku rolled back over with another louder groan. "I don't wanna talk about it."

"Hey, I didn't even say anything!"

Kaminari snorted a laugh from Izuku's other side, pushing himself to sit up and rubbing at his head. "But you were thinking it. We all know that."

"I love that you're always on my side," Izuku said with a sigh, pushing himself closer to the blond.

He heard Sero huff behind him, and then the man was pulling him back. He braced one hand on either side of Izuku, so he was towering over him. "He was my friend first, you know. I'd like him back at some point."

Izuku hummed as he pretended to think about the request. "No can do, sweetheart. I like him too much."

One of Sero's brows raised as a pleased smirk formed on his lips. "I thought we weren't allowed to flirt anymore, baby?"

Izuku used all of his remaining strength to push Sero off him, sitting up with a small pout. "We're not," he said in what he hoped was a firm tone, but it sounded whiny even to him. "I let Shinsou set boundaries, and I need to respect them."

Sero scoffed, which Izuku was content to ignore as he started climbing out of bed.

"Why? It's not like he respects you at all."

"Come on, Hanta," Izuku sighed, throwing a hoodie on to try and fight off the morning chill in his apartment. "You guys are friends, can't you just play nice?"

"I stand by what I said last night. I'm not that guy's friend."

Izuku turned to face him with his lips pursed and his arms crossed. "You're acting like a child," he grumbled.

Sero rolled his eyes at the comment, glaring at the wall. "That's rich, coming from you."

"I'm not a kid," Izuku snapped, getting fed up with everyone treating him like one. In his own mind, he hadn't been a kid since his mother died. Why couldn't anyone else see that? "I'm eighteen and fully capable of making my own decisions."

Sero looked at him unconvinced. "Then why can't you see he's just using you for sex? You're just a toy to him, Iz."

"How is he any different from you, then?" Izuku asked, his heart dropping as soon as the words left his mouth. He didn't mean to lash out like this, but he was hurting. The worst part was that Sero wasn't the one who hurt him in the first place. He didn't deserve Izuku's anger, and logically, he knew that, but he wasn't thinking logically. "All you do is flirt with me."

"And suddenly, it feels like I shouldn't be here," Kaminari mumbled, looking between his two friends who were in the middle of a way to intimate argument for bystanders.

"I flirt with you because I like you!" Sero said, his voice raising as his lips curled.

Izuku willed the pang in his chest to go away. It didn't matter. "How is that any different from Shinsou?" he asked, instead of what he really wanted to.

Why? That was the only real question in his mind. Why the fuck would Sero like anything about him? He was a mess, he was a constant fuck up, he was a genius who wanted to go into an underwhelming career because it was safe. What was there to like, let alone want?

He let stupid men use and abuse him because he thought that was all he was good for. Any respectable guy would want nothing to do with him, so he didn't bother. He settled for what he thought he deserved. So why Sero? Why?

Sero gritted his teeth at the question, hating being compared to Shinsou, especially in this regard. "Because the only thing he likes about you is your ass, Izuku. Everyone but you can see that."

Izuku turned his head, unable to maintain eye contact without tearing up. If he glared at a wall, he'd at least be able to pretend like he was okay and the fight wasn't affecting him. "Yeah, well, all I like about him is his dick, so I guess we're even."

"Then, why the fuck do you stay? You deserve better than that, Iz."

Kaminari awkwardly cleared his throat, removing himself from the blankets and standing. "So, um, I think I'm just gonna head out."

"No," Izuku said quickly, looking over at the blond with a pleading glance. "You're staying. Please."

Kaminari held his stare for a moment before he nodded slowly. "Yeah, okay. I can stay if you want me to."

"I want you both to stay," Izuku said firmly, looking over to Sero. The other man was biting the inside of his cheek as Izuku met his gaze. "But only if you can stop lecturing me like a parent I don't need."

Sero's jaw ticked at the request, but he quickly gave in with a small breath. "Fine, I'll drop it."

Izuku crossed his arms, one brow raised as he asked, "Permanently?"

A humorless chuckle left Sero's lips as he shook his head. "No can do, baby."

"Hanta," Izuku snapped. They'd just talked about the nickname thing.

"He's not your boyfriend. I'm not respecting shit," Sero said with half a shrug, unable to budge on the topic.

Izuku's whole body went tense. Just like that, they were back to fighting. "Try respecting me, then."

Sero narrowed his eyes, knowing he'd been backed into a corner. He'd gonna on a whole tirade about Shinsou not respecting Izuku or treating him well, and if Sero didn't listen to him now, he'd be doing the exact same thing. "Fine, I'll stop calling you baby."

Kaminari blew out a breath, leaning back against Izuku's desk and keeping his eyes trained on the floor. "It's gonna be a great day," he mumbled to himself. "Nothing bad or awkward is gonna happen in front of you, and you're just gonna hang out with your two best friends, and everything is gonna be peachy."

Izuku brought his hands to his face, cradling his head as he breathed a few times. "Denks, it's fine. We're fine."

Kaminari quickly nodded his head, pointing between himself and Izuku. "Oh, yeah, I know. We're good, totally good, but it's not exactly us I'm worried about right now."

"Hanta and I are fine," Izuku said with a small nod as he glanced over at the other man, who looked decidedly not fine. "Friends fight sometimes, but that doesn't mean we hate each other or anything."

Kaminari winced, sucking in a breath through his teeth. "Mm, okay. Iz, stop talking."

Izuku threw his hands in the air and blinked, unsure of what the fuck he had possibly done this time. Why was this always happening? "Jesus Christ, fine. Maybe you both should leave. Fuck, this is why I don't have friends," he complained as he turned on his heels and left his bedroom.

"Iz! Wait!" Kaminari called, already on his tail.

Izuku ignored him, stomping out to the kitchen. Todoroki was leaning against the counter with a bowl of cereal in his hands. He raised one brow at his pissed-off brother and lifted another spoonful of his breakfast to his mouth, chewing and swallowing before saying, "Izuku, there're boys in your room. Why are there always boys in your room?"

Izuku pulled his lips back in a sneer as he hopped onto the counter next to him, stealing his brother's cereal with ease (only because Todoroki could see how upset he was and let it happen). "Don't worry, they were just leaving."

Kaminari gapped at him as Sero appeared in the doorway, still looking more pissed than anything. The blond sputtered for a second before he let out a loud whine. "C'mon, I didn't even do anything!"

Todoroki looked between his two kind of friends and his brother, who was giving them the silent treatment. He nodded toward the front door. "You heard him. You were just leaving."

Maybe Izuku didn't hate having older brothers as much as he thought he did.

Kaminari threw his head back with a groan. After a moment, he turned to Sero with a glare, pointing at him as he made his way to the front door. "We're fighting."

"Sure," Sero grumbled, not sparing Izuku a glance as he followed the blond. "I'm fighting with everyone else, what's one more?"

"You did this to yourself, man."

"Shut up."

"No, this is your punishment."

"Cool. You can walk home, then."

"That's so not cool!"

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Izuku was zoning out in the living room a few hours later. He'd planted himself on the couch next to Todoroki, who was watching some cooking show and didn't bother to pay attention to anything. He was so deep in his own head, that his older brother had to kick him in the stomach to get his attention.
"Ow," he whined with a huff, glaring daggers at the amused half-and-half man to his left.
"I tried calling your name, like, ten times," Todoroki said with a shrug. "I don't know what's going on up there, but you can talk about it. If you want."
Izuku slouched back against the couch, letting his older brother use his lap as a footstool for the time being. "Hanta's turned into you and won't get his nose out of my business," he admitted in a quiet voice.
"You and your boy drama," Todoroki mumbled with a small shake of his head. "I know Sero, he's a good guy. He wouldn't be causing such a scene if he didn't truly believe he was in the right."
"He's not," Izuku snapped, pushing Todoroki's feet off him with more force than necessary. He turned in his spot, facing his brother with his legs crossed under him and his elbows on his knees. "He has no right to my relationships-"
"Iz," Todoroki cut him off with raised brows, like Izuku was missing an obvious point. "He's your friend, and he's worried about you. Stop trying to crucify him."
Izuku rolled his eyes, crossing his arms over his chest with a small pout. "Why is no one on my side?"
"Maybe it's because you're wrong," Todoroki said casually, turning back to his show. "I know it's hard to believe, but even geniuses are wrong once in a while."
Izuku dramatically turned from his brother, facing forward again and not letting his eyes wander from the TV, even though he still wasn't paying attention to it. "Well, I like Shinsou. Everyone else can just fuck off."
"Use your big ol' head for a second," Todoroki mumbled, appearing as if he was only half paying attention to the conversation, but Izuku knew it was an act. "Has Shinsou done anything that would indicate he likes you for anything other than sex?"
"Yes," Izuku hissed, wanting to glare at his brother but refusing to give him the satisfaction. "He took care of me when I was drunk last night and refused to do anything because I was drinking, and he got jealous of Hanta. Just because he's not proposing doesn't mean he doesn't like me, okay?"
Todoroki hummed for a moment. "Sounds like he understands consent and doesn't like to share his toys. I don't think that equals feelings, but what do I know? I'm emotionally stunted from an abusive father; I could be wrong."
"You are," Izuku stated in a firm voice, willing himself to believe it. He was always chasing after the wrong guys, but this time, he'd really thought it would be different. Maybe it wasn't.
He saw Todoroki nod from the corner of his eyes. "Okay. I know you're fighting with the people who care about you, but I'm heading to Katsuki's in a little bit. You're welcome to tag along if you're feeling up for it."
"Is Shinsou gonna be there?" he asked back, more to annoy Todoroki than actually caring. They'd had a good night, and he wanted to see the older man again, but his being home wouldn't make or break his decision. He just wanted to piss off his older brother.
Todoroki shrugged as he stood from the couch and proceeded to stretch his arms over his head. "How should I know? I haven't talked to the guy in a week."
Izuku looked over at him finally, confusion clear on his face. "I thought you guys were best friends?"
Another half-shrug from the taller man. "Then he went behind my back and fucked my baby brother and is still stringing him along like a dog. I've got low standards for friends, but not that low, Iz. I don't like when people fuck with my family."
Well, I've officially cost Hitoshi two friends, great, he thought to himself with a scowl. Three, if I count Kacchan, but I don't think they were ever friends in the first place.
"Stop blaming him," Izuku mumbled, not sure if Todoroki could even hear him or not. "I'm just as much at fault."
"Sure, Iz," he said back, ruffling his hair as he walked past. "Let me know in the next twenty minutes if you're going or not."
He was going. Even if he was still annoyed with Kaminari and Sero (mostly Sero), he still wanted to apologize for kicking them out. Now that he'd calmed down, he could admit that it was a bit much.
With a heavy sigh, he retreated to his bedroom and got dressed.
I wrote this instead of Silhouette, oops.
