Don't Touch Anything!
"You are the cause of my Euphoria~~~~" Jungkook sang from high up in the air. The rest of the members stood on the stage and watched their maknae being flown around on a little contraption that he was buckled to. He stood on a small platform as wires brought him up and over the audience seating.
"He's brave for that," Yoongi said as he followed with his eyes while Jungkook continued to practice.
"Yeah, heights are a no go for me too," Jin agreed. Their maknae had always been the bravest when it came to things the others might find a bit dangerous. They were nervous about him performing the song in the air like that but Jungkook said it was his song and it's what he wanted to do, so the members needed a lot of reassurance from staff that the little platform was safe.
The tech crew lowered Jungkook back onto the stage.
"How did I do? Should I go again?" Jungkook asked, wanting an honest opinion from his hyungs.
"You sounded like you always do when you perform it. Absolutely amazing!" Taehyung patted Jungkook on the back and pointed to the lift. "Is it scary up there? I bet it looks cool going over the crowd."
"It's so fun, hyungie!" Jungkook smiled.
"Can I try going up on it?" Taehyung asked.
"No, the belt is already fitted to me and I'm bigger than you. The tech crew just got it right we can't mess with it," Jungkook warned.
"Then I just won't buckle it," Taehyung replied.
"Are you crazy?! If you fall from that high up you'll die! Maybe after the concert when they have time to fit the belt to you. Please just stay away from it for now." Jungkook walked past Taehyung to grab some water.
Taehyung stared at the little flying platform, he really wanted to play on it for a little bit. He wanted to see what the view was like himself.
He turned back and got into another dance formation so the members could practice more of their dances. Their concert was in just a couple of days and there was a lot they needed to rehearse. The members asked Taehyung if he wanted to perform his own solo song too but he said no. Jungkook was the only one who wanted to sing one of his own songs.
After a few more hours of practice, the members were calling it a day. Rehearsals went well and while everyone else had gathered backstage, Taehyung and Hobi stayed behind to play around on stage for a little bit. They playfully chased eachother and wrestled around. Taehyung stood up and saw the control board for Jungkook's lift. He cautiously looked around and saw that the tech crew was already leaving for the night.
So Taehyung had an idea.
"Hobi hyung," he called over, gesturing for his hyung to meet him at the control board.
"Hmm?" Hobi asked.
"Do you dare me to get on it?"
"No, Jungkookie said not to mess with it. The belt isn't fitted to you."
"Who cares if it's a little big? I won't fall!"
"You might!" Hobi said. He looked around and noticed nobody else was around, "Are you ready to go?"
"I just want to go up once, please hyung!" Taehyung begged. He stuck out his lower lip to try and look cute. He made his 'TaTa Mic' face, which was a silly little face he made when he wanted something. "It's just once. Just one time. I will be fine and I won't mess with the belt so it stays perfect for Kookie! Please hyung!"
"Aish, fine!" Hobi caved. The TaTa Mic face got him every single time. "But I'm not sure how to even work it."
"Just hit the up and down button and see what happens." Taehyung happily skipped over to the little platform and put his two feet on it. He wrapped the belt around himself. Jungkook was right, it is too big. He needs to stop working out before he ends us all.
"Are you ready?" Hobi asked. He looked around on the panel. There were a ton of buttons and switches. He had no clue what he was doing.
"Yes, send me up!" Taehyung cheered happily.
"Uhh....okay.." Hobi hit random buttons. He pushed a lever and the platform quickly flew into the air. Taehyung was caught off guard with how fast it flew up and gripped the handle tightly, "Woah," he said nervously.
"Sorry, sorry! Too fast, I know! My bad!" Hobi shouted up at him. We better make this quick because the others will kill us if they see this. I really hope I don't regret this.
"Send me over the audience! But slowly!" Taehyung shouted down at him. Hobi somehow found the right lever and was able to send Taehyung slowly hovering around. Taehyung thought it was the coolest thing ever. He felt like a bird. He instantly understood why Jungkook loved it so much. Seeing the size of the place from above gave him a whole new perspective about just how big their concerts were. While he was admiring the view, suddenly the contraption stopped abruptly and it sent him swinging back and forth quite forcefully. He grabbed the handle in fear as a sense of anxiety coursed through him.
"Hyung, what the hell?!" Taehyung screamed back at Hobi.
"Sorry, sorry! I don't exactly know what I'm doing!" Hobi said. He started pressing more buttons to try and bring Taehyung back, but instead it sent him flying around the air faster.
"Stop! I want to get down! Get me down!" Taehyung screamed. He wasn't enjoying this anymore. Now his body was zooming around in the air and it was scaring the absolute hell out of him. This was a bad idea. Bad idea. Bad idea.
"I'm trying!" Hobi screamed back, "But I don't exactly know how to use this thing!"
"Just find a switch or something! Bring me back to the stage and lower it!" Taehyung shouted. He started to shake because he was so scared. He realized he wasn't as brave as his maknae was. Heights suddenly were not for him.
Hobi started pressing every button and switch on the panel in a desperate attempt to get Taehyung down. He also started sweating with anxiety because nothing seemed to be working.
Taehyung felt his heart start racing and his palms got sweaty, making him start to lose his grip on the pole he was holding. "Sometime tonight would be great, if you'd be so willing!" He screamed in annoyance. How hard could it be to just get me down?!
Hobi hit another button and it sent Taehyung flying back towards the stage quickly. Taehyung started screaming because he got too scared. As the contraption approached the stage, the control panel started sparking.
Hobi backed away, "What the hell?!" he shouted.
"Help! Hyung! Hyung! Help! Please! Woah...no, no, no, Hyung---AHH!" Taehyung screamed louder than Hobi had ever heard as he watched the platform Taehyung was on reach the stage, and then completely come undone from the overhead wires. The entire thing fell apart. Sending Taehyung plummeting to the stage from high up in the air.
"Taehyung!" Hobi screamed as he saw Taehyung falling.
Taehyung landed with a loud thud and curled up into a ball, screaming his head off. He had smacked his head but somehow didn't get knocked out, but the sound of him landing echoed throughout the entire venue.
"Taehyung!" Hobi screamed again. "Guys!" he turned to face backstage, "Help! Help! Someone help!" He was desperately hoping his other members heard him. He was terrified and couldn't handle this on his own.
"Ahh! Ahhh!" Taehyung cried loudly. Hobi was sure the entire world could hear this boys screams.
Taehyung was clutching his leg to his chest as countless tears poured out of his face. "It hurts, it hurts, Help. Please," Taehyung begged for the agony to be over. He felt something in his leg snap as soon as he had smashed into the stage floor. He started to breathe heavily, feeling like he couldn't suck in any oxygen. All he could do was cry and scream.
The other members heard all the screaming and came running from backstage, they were the only ones left as the entire crew was gone already. They saw Taehyung laying there and screaming.
"What the hell happened?!" Yoongi screamed. As they were running towards him Jungkook instantly saw his stage prop completely destroyed and mangled on the stage, "What the hell?! Did that fall on him or something?!"
"He-he-" Hobi was also a hyperventilating mess of tears, "I'm so sorry Jungkookie but I let him play on it and it broke and he fell."
"He fell?!" All of the members screamed in unison.
They surrounded Taehyung and tried to get him to adjust his breathing. Taehyung tried to sit up but Namjoon placed his hands on Taehyung's chest and held him back down, "Don't move. You could get hurt more if you move."
Taehyung found that an impossible thing to do. He was trying to roll around in agony. It hurt to stay still. Jimin put his hands on Taehyung's hips too and pinned him down in an attempt to get him to keep his legs still.
"Please," Taehyung cried out through his heart-wrenching sobs, "It hurts. Make it stop. Please make it s-stop."
Jin was calling for an ambulance. Although Jungkook was absolutely devastated for his hyung, he was also extremely angry that his hyung didn't listen to him. He knew right now wasn't the time to express that anger, Taehyung was already in enough pain.
The members were completely devastated listening to Taehyung's screams and cries. Jin lifted his dongsaeng's pant leg and it wasn't good. The leg was very clearly broken. A bone was sticking out from the skin and he was bleeding.
Yoongi felt woozy at the sight and had to look away. He crawled over to Taehyung's face and kissed his forehead, "It's not too bad. You'll be just fine," he lied in an attempt to make Taehyung feel less scared. He could see the tears and sweat of anxiety consuming him.
Taehyung was hyperventilating badly at this point. He wished he had passed out so he couldn't feel how painful this all was. Namjoon started rubbing his chest, "Deep breaths. Deep breaths. Deep breaths."
His head was also fuzzy and weird feeling from hitting it. Hobi informed them that Taehyung had hit his head too so they started asking him questions to see if he had a concussion. He answered all their questions just fine, he just had an excruciating headache.
Jimin then took Taehyung's hand and held it. Taehyung squeezed it hard as he continued to scream in pain. Jimin had to close his eyes. Seeing Taehyung hurting like this was too much for his heart to bare. Taehyung kept letting out groans of pain. "Hmph.....help...please..mmf..ow.."
Jungkook was also a crying mess seeing his hyung hurt. Jin was trying to hold Taehyung's leg still while they awaited paramedics.
Taehyung was absolutely terrified, but found comfort in being surrounded by his members. If anyone was going to be there for him through something like this he was glad it was them.
After what felt like a lifetime to Taehyung, the ambulance finally showed up. They had to carefully lift him onto a stretcher. As he was being taken away he felt another sense of panic.
"No!" Taehyung cried out as he reached his arm out towards his members. He wanted them to stay with him.
The members piled up against eachother in the back of the ambulance. They watched as Taehyung was hooked up to IV's and given an oxygen mask. He was also given pain killers that would sedate him. He started to fall asleep in the back of the ambulance. Taehyung's screaming finally stopped as he slowly drifted off, but the sound of the members hearts breaking for him was still very loud. Yoongi sat by Taehyung's head and gently rubbed his fingers over his dongsaengs forehead. A small act of comfort.
When they got to the hospital, Taehyung had already been passed out for a while. The members were in the hospital room he was taken to and sat around him while a nurse took some vitals. She then had to stroll him away to an x-ray room. While he was gone, Jungkook finally found a moment to release his anger. He turned to Hobi.
"What the hell were you two thinking?! I told him not to touch it! For a reason! Just because I'm the youngest doesn't mean I'm going to be okay with not being listened to!" Jungkook screamed.
Hobi was still a mess of tears, "I'm so sorry. He just..he really wanted to and I gave in to that cute face he always makes. I shouldn't have. I'm so so sorry everyone. I'm the hyung and I should have told him no out of respect for you, bunny." Hobi apologized a million times over to everyone, but especially Jungkook. Jungkook suddenly felt too sad all over again to be angry. He was at least grateful that a broken leg was the worst of it. It could have ended more tragically than that.
Jungkook sighed. The members wrapped him and Hobi both in a hug. Hobi grabbed Jungkook's hand, "I'm sorry. I love you. Please forgive me."
"I love you too," Jungkook replied. "Forgiveness may take some time, and that goes for both you and Taehyungie."
"I understand," Hobi frowned.
Taehyung was brought back a few moments later and a doctor already had news that his leg was definitely broken. The members felt terrible. None of them could imagine a pain like that. They couldn't imagine how scared Taehyung must've been. They also did a CT scan and said he did have a slight concussion but that he'd be fine.
"I have to take him to get a cast on, but the good news is a break like this was a clean break and it'll heal just fine."
The members sighed with relief. At least that was one less thing they'd have to worry about. Taehyung was taken back out and brought back about two hours later. He had a leg cast on, and was awake.
"Hyungie!" Jungkook yelled excitedly.
Taehyung was still in a lot of pain, but so happy to see his brothers were still with him. They asked how he was feeling and he said he's felt better. The members chuckled. Taehyung started instantly apologizing to Jungkook but Jungkook said they'd worry about it some other time. He was too exhausted to keep being angry.
Everyone started speaking a mile a minute about how scared they were seeing him laying there screaming like that and seeing him hurt. Hobi felt guilty as hell because he was the one controlling the panel, but the members told him the thing must've malfunctioned on it's own and Hobi couldn't have known it'd result in that. Taehyung also apologized to Hobi for talking him into doing something they weren't supposed to do.
Then, Taehyung looked at his leg and started crying. He threw his head back on his pillow. "The concert. I've ruined the concert."
"I wouldn't say ruined it but we may have to reschedule." Namjoon said he'd have to call the company and ask what to do.
"No! I don't want to reschedule!" Taehyung yelled, "We can't! We have to do it for ARMY! They've been waiting! I want to perform!"
"Perform?! You have a broken leg you can't perform!" Jimin yelled at him.
"I have another leg!" Taehyung cried back in all seriousness.
"You can't dance with one leg!" Jin scolded.
"I can try!" Taehyung replied in a panic, "We have to do the concert!"
The members turned back to the doctor and immediately asked his opinion on how much movement was okay and how much movement wasn't okay for his leg. The doctor advised complete rest for a while, and that Taehyung really shouldn't be moving at all.
"So then no concert," Yoongi said sadly.
"We have to do the concert!" Taehyung begged and pleaded. Namjoon sighed and asked for a moment to call the company and ask what to do. He stepped away for a moment and came back.
"If we do this concert, you have to sit. The entire time," Namjoon said. All of the members felt terrible for him. They'd all been in a situation like that before and they knew how much it sucked.
Taehyung blinked back his tears and let out a groan of regret and agony. "Fine. Then I will sit. But we have to do the concert."
"I will have the company release a statement. Do you want it to say what happened?" Namjoon asked.
"Not all the details." Taehyung felt slightly embarrassed and ashamed about what he did so he asked for the statement to be as vague as possible. Namjoon called the company back and told them what he'd like the statement to say.
The company said they'd put the statement out the morning of the concert.
And that's exactly what they did. The members had been able to continue practicing, but now had to practice in a way where Taehyung was sitting in a chair.
The day of the concert was upon them. Taehyung held back his tears when he saw the notification for the announcement be released.
The members could tell he was feeling very down, and Jimin kept reminding him that ARMY would have fun and love him whether he was dancing or not. He showed Taehyung immediate posts from their fans reacting to the news saying they wished him well and hope he gets better quickly. "They love you." This made Taehyung smile.
The concert started and Taehyung was confined to a chair. He watched his members from afar, dancing together for their fans, and couldn't help but feel left out and depressed.
He tried to hold his tears in as not to cry in front of everyone, but he really felt as though he let ARMY and his members down. He felt terrible that Jungkook couldn't perform his solo song either. The members could feel Taehyung's heartbreak whether he cried or not, so throughout the night they did their best to be around him and make him feel seen and included.
After the concert, when the lights went off everyone ran to Taehyung to help him stand up. Stage crew ran his crutches out to him and they all made their way backstage as quickly as possible. Taehyung finally released the tears he was holding in and everyone hugged him.
He looked at Jungkook, "Safe to say I learned my lesson. "
Jungkook rubbed Taehyung's back, "Mistakes are how we grow."
"That was rather mature of you to say, who did you learn that from?" Jin asked.
"Well, definitely not you!" Jungkook teased. Taehyung giggled.
"He learned that from Namjoon," Yoongi mentioned. Hobi came over, "I learned mine too."
Jungkook looked between Hobi and Taehyung, "You learned that I'm always right and whatever you do, you two should listen to me for the rest of your lives?"
Taehyung giggled again. He realized the members were acting silly to get him to laugh. Jimin pulled up Twitter, "Look Taehyungie, broken leg or not you're literally going viral because you look so good. I mean wow, look at you! You're so handsome!" Taehyung started blushing.
The members pulled Taehyung into a group hug, "You did great. And now you really need to lay around and rest until you get better."
"I'm sorry if I've let you all down," Taehyung sighed with sadness.
"You could never let us down," Yoongi said.
"If anything, I'm the one who let you down, Tae. Quite literally." Hobi couldn't help but laugh at his own joke, and the members joined in. Including Taehyung. He didn't know how he'd get through this without them.
The members gathered up their things and headed back to their car to head home. On the way they constantly joked, making Taehyung laugh and laugh. He was feeling much better. He was excited to go home and rest now.
When they got home, Taehyung lay down while everyone catered to him.
He saw fancams of himself online and joked, "I am pretty hot, huh?"
"Maybe you should break a leg more often," Yoongi teased.
"I think once is enough," Taehyung replied. The members gathered around him on the couch to rest for the night. He asked Jungkook if he was still angry, the maknae said he wasn't angry. " I mean I forgive you and everything, I just feel really bad."
"Don't feel too bad, he only broke one leg, he has another one," Yoongi said flatly.
Hobi laughed so hard he fell to the ground and had to roll around. Yoongi smiled. He loved teasing his members.
Taehyung and Hobi both promised to always listen to their members no matter what. And with that, the night was peaceful, and Taehyung felt his sadness and guilt melt away simply by the loving presence of his members. And the absolute unconditional love and forgiveness of his maknae.
[The End]
