Luke's POV

Do it!

No! Don't do it!

I paced around my room trying to decide if what I'm planning is worth it. Will calling Leo make everything okay? Or will there be collateral damage?

Either way, it's making me freak out.

The skype account that my mum told me was definitely Clara's friend's. No doubt about it. Leo Shephard, that's his name. I have my own iPad ready to call him and I just have to tap 'Call".

What would I say?

What would I do?

How will I start a conversation?

Does he know the truth about Clara and I?

"Urgghh." I groaned as I fell face down on my bed. It's been frustrating and crazy. I'm not scared. I'm just.....nervous.

Breathe in. Out. Breath in. Out.

"Okay. Let's do this." I murmured as I proceeded to make the call.

But then my mind blanked out, I slapped myself for being too fast and quickly regretted calling Leo. But there's no turning back now, I could see that he's answering it.

"Oh shit." I whispered.

Then my screen fired up and I came face to face with a guy with short and straight brown hair and grey eyes.

"Well, if it isn't Luke Hemmings, the fake boyfriend."

Fuck! He knew!

"Uh, are you Leo?" I mentally slapped myself for asking. Of course, he's Leo!

"Yes. I am. And are you going to tell me why are you calling at 11:30 at night and interrupting my studies? There's a time difference between LA and wherever you are, lover boy."

Wow. He's even sharper and tougher than Clara.

"Uhh." I was at a loss for words. "I'm in London."

"Beautiful." he said, but not even looking impressed.

"I--uhh...I'm sorry."

"That's what you're gonna say after you hurt my best friend? Shouldn't you be talking to her and not me?"

"Sorry. About everything, Leo. I don't exactly know what to say to Clara at the moment."

He scoffed, "Do you have any idea what I've had to deal with?"

"Uhh, no?"

"Clara's done nothing but work her ass off for the past couple of months!" he snapped.

I blinked at him in confusion. "You're blaming me for her interest in work?"

"God, you're hopeless." Leo sighed audibly. "No. Clara has been working nonstop since she got back from Australia. She buried herself in things to do so she wouldn't think about you. And with her stepfamily's problem..."

"Yeah. I've heard about that."

Leo scowled and it made me glad I wasn't having this particular conversation in person. From the looks of it, he was a muscular guy who could beat me senseless when provoked.

"Thanks to you, she's now on the media's radar. Aspects of her life, even the hateful parts, are being written down as news. All she has to do is wait for someone else to do something incredibly stupid to outshine what you two did."

"Last I heard, Clara's working with Ed Sheeran." I said.

Leo paused and narrowed his eyes at me. "Wait. You didn't tell Ed Sheeran about Clara?"

I shook my head in reply.

"Then who was it that discovered her?" Leo wondered. "I didn't even know she could sing. Let alone write songs."

I shrugged, "Maybe someone heard her when she was singing to me back here in the London studio. Either way, Clara's doing fine now."

"That's what you think."

"What do you mean?" I asked.

He grunted and glared at me through the screen. "Clara's too focused on it. She's become a robot! A mindless, soulless, heartless robot that doesn't even seem human anymore."

I got the feeling that he wasn't exagerrating. Not even the slightest bit. "Oh God. I'm so sorry."

"Don't apologize to me! Apologize to her! You're the one who made her fall in love with you and then turn around kissing other people! And it was Florence, for fuck's sake!"

"She dumped me!" I looked at him in disbelief.

"Yeah but that was only because you made her think that you liked her when actually it was all stag---"

"I did like her."

Leo rolled his eyes, "I mean romantically."

"Me, too."

His mouth dropped open and then a big grin spread across his face.

"Really? Oh.....She did not know that."

I raked a hand through my hair in stress. "What was I supposed to do. Hire a skywriter?"

"That might work actually." he said. "But then you have to explain that it isn't a media stunt. I mean, it is kind of hard to tell what's real with you two."

"I've been trying to explain everything to her but Clara doesn't even listen or hear me out first. She assumes the negative points so she managed to mess that up all on her own." I couldn't keep the bitterness out of my voice.

Leo glared at me, even harder now, "You want someone perfect? Then leave Clara alone. Because we both know she's never going to fit into the celebrity mold. She had enough criticism from her stepfamily and hearing more from other people would be hell. Clara's 10 pounds too heavy and she would have to change her---"

"What the hell are you talking about?" I demanded. "Clara doesn't need to change a damn thing!"

Suddenly, a pleased, self-satisfied smile spread across Leo's face and I instantly realized he tossed out that crap as a kind of test.

Which apparently I had passed.

But I doubted the majority of the public would agree with me. Upon knowing her background and past experiences with her stepfamily, I should have realized that Clara couldn't open up herself to rejection. Thanks to me, now the media were also saying that she wasn't good enough to date one of the country's most popular lead singers.

And I haven't done anything to stop it.

"I have a plan, if you're still interested." Leo said to me. "If you really mean it."

I paused to consider her words. After the way Clara shoot me down, did I want to risk more rejection?

Surprisingly.....yes.

I would do it if it means to have Clara back with me.

So I leaned forward and nodded.

"What do you have in mind?"

Leo let out a big smile and started laying out his plan.

"You need to catch a flight from London to LA."

Heyyo!! So yeah i didnt have the chance to add in the part where Clara tells Leo about the truth coz i think that would be hella funny lol
