Dangerous dinner chapter 11 (J.G.)
So far the entire sleepover thing was not at a good point. As Ash and myself were standing in the room where the sleepover was happening I noticed a lot of family photos. Ash was going crazy with excitement as she study all the photos. I only looked at one. I picked up a framed photo that had 11 people in it. 10 of the people were standing near one another having a smile on their face as they stared at the camera with happiness. The first trio seemed to be percy, her father and mother hugging one another as percy was between them. The 2nd trio seemed to be more formal and had Fester in front of his parents as they stood there smiling. The 3rd trio looked to be of Grace and her parents as they seemed to be messing around. The 10th person was a bald man with deathly pale skin just like Nathens. He was standing off to the left of the 9 people with a chuckling expression. Then off to the far right by himself was nathen giving a blank expression to the camera. His eyes filled with life and death, confusion and understanding, questions and answers. His eyes were like a maze each turn having to make you take a step back and think where was I. I heard someone clear their throat causing me to look at the doorway. Percy stood there in a casual dress with a look of annoyance. "Its almost time for dinner." She said giving us a smile. "Oh and please be careful what you say to Mr. Gehénnam. He is someone you don't want to make angry." She warned as Ash and myself walked out of the room with her. I finally got a chance to look at more of the house and realized it was quite cheerful. We entered into the dining room and saw the table packed with food from around the world. My mouth watered slightly at the sight. At the table sat the same people from the picture and the guest that walked in after us. I saw 2 open seats to the left of Nathen and pulled Ash to those seats. As we sat he nodded to us before staring ahead again. It was kinda quiet since the only thing that filled the room was the clinking of plates and utensils.
"So Mr. Mortem how is school going for you?" The black man asked Nathen who was eating a bite of chicken pot pie.
"Its been fine Mr. Gehénnam." Nathen answered with no emotion which was starting to creep me out.
"Please call me Apollyon. We're not doing business." Apollyon said before looking over at me getting a confused look. "I'm sorry but have we met before?" He asked as I shook my head no. I could feel the same thing I felt from Drakes eyes.
"No sir I would definitely remember someone like you." I say as respectful as possible.
"Hmm okay then." I noticed then that drake was looking at my plate getting a smirk.
"Your plates a little bare. Here have a pomegranate." Drake said reaching into a bowl of fruit and threw it at me. I put my hand up to catch it only for Nathens own hand catch it. Everyone looked at Nathen each with their own expression. Drake held a curious smirk.
"The fruit spoils fast." That was all Nathen said before setting the fruit aside while holding an angered glare to Drake.
"Uh......" I tried to think of something to say as Apollyon spoke up.
"Thank you for letting us know." He said. "So what are your Names?" He asked us while I felt a sense of malicious.
"I'm Ash and that's Jess." My friend said since I was unable to answer.
"No surnames?" He asked with interest.
"None that you would know." Ash said as I could feel the tension at the table.
"You think you're clever don't you little girl?" Apollyon asked as I slunk a bit into my chair.
"Nah. Just street smart." Ash shrugged back. "All I know is that you don't need to worry about us since we'll never meet again after tonight."
"Don't be so sure." I heard Drake mutter. I looked around the table and saw multiple things. Percy was frozen in her seat as her parents seemed they weren't exactly paying attention to conversation. Grace looked like she was ready to attack Drake. Her father had the same look, but only at Apollyon. Grace's mother was watching slightly amused and bored. I looked over at fester as he was writing in a notebook that his father was reading with him as if trying to stay out of the situation. His mother was looking stare ahead since I just realized that she was blind. I looked at Nathen and his father seeing then staring darkly at Apollyon and his children. I noticed that Apollyons assistant was obviously undressing Nathen with her eyes. Drake was chuckling darkly. Apollyon was giving a smirk to Ash as she stood her ground with a look of pride. The little girl was eating mac and cheese like no tomorrow. I gulped before stepping in.
"So what kind of business do you do Mr. Gehénnam?" I asked as the tension slightly leaked allowing me to breathe.
"I'm in the business of making things happen." He said proudly. "I'm like that guy in prison that if you need something you talk to him. Only I actually give you what you want." He said leaning forward with a smirk. "Tell me what do you want the most?"
"Well I really don't want anything. I'm quite happy with what I have." I say slightly honest Apollyon frowned in disappointment.
"Ah I understand." He said before looking at Nathens Father. "So Mr. Mortem, you know why I am here yes?" He asked as the temperature dropped a few degrees.
"We will discuss that after dinner." Mr. Mortem said with caution and care. Nathen then stood up and walked to the door. "Nathen where are you going?"
"Library. I just thought of something that is related to the current situation." He said as I saw him loosen his tie before leaving the room. I leaned over to percy who was shaking slightly. She looked to me and raised an eyebrow. I had an important question to ask.
"Where is the bathroom?"
