{3} Entrance Exam Results

The UA entrance exam for the students with recommendations took place not long after Hiromi had accepted Eraserhead's offer. The girl ended up only having two weeks to prepare for the exam. Thankfully, by the time it rolled around, she was confident that she would be able to score well. The entrance exam was tense, especially since there weren't a lot of people who got in on recommendations. Everyone was also focused on the exam itself rather than trying to have even small conversations. Anyone who tried was immediately shut down by the other person. Hiromi didn't blame anyone either. Every person there had something to prove. They needed to show that they were worthy of being recommended.
By the end of the exam, Hiromi had been so tired that she felt like a zombie for the rest of the day. Not only did she tire out her ability, but she also tired herself out physically. Luckily for her, she didn't have any cases she needed to go on that day so she was just on desk duty. Most of it was spent napping which resulted in her getting lectured by Kunikida. So she missed a few reports, so what? She tried really hard on that exam so she deserved a good nap.
Time passed and Hiromi could feel herself getting more and more nervous as the days passed. Did she do good enough? What if she completely bombed it? The written part of the exam was a little difficult. There were some questions that she wasn't very sure about. The rest of the agency could see her anxiousness too. They had all tried their best to get her mind off of it. It always came back to bother her after the day was done though.
But today was different. Hiromi woke up, already in a good mood. She always had a hard time sleeping since she was young. The girl was very prone to getting nightmares which would wake her up in the middle of the night. Last night was nightmare free so she was able to rest easy. The sound of something being pushed through the mail slot in her door caught her attention. She glanced over to see a letter was now laying on the floor. Guess it was time to finally get up.
Stretching, Hiromi got up and made her way over to the letter that had fallen on the ground. She picked up the letter, rubbing sleep from her eyes to see the words written on the envelope. It was from UA... Huh. Hiromi was about to move on when she realized who the letter was from. UA! The letter was from UA! It had her results in it! That was all it took for the girl to get ready for the day.
The clothes she had thrown on looked like she put them on in a hurricane. Hiromi didn't care the slightest bit. She had to get to the agency to show them the letter. And that's exactly where she headed after running out of her apartment, almost forgetting to lock the door behind her. Judging by the time, everyone was already there. She had accidentally slept in a little late. That was something she knew Kunikida was going to get onto her about.
A smile appeared on her face as the agency appeared in her field of vision. She burst through the door and hurried to the elevator. Pushing the button multiple times, she waited impatiently for it to get there. As soon as it did, she went inside, pressed the button for the floor she needed, and waited even more. Waiting was her least favorite thing at the moment. It kept delaying her from getting to see her results which made her more nervous about what they are.
When the elevator doors opened, Hiromi basically fell out of it from running so fast. Her vision zeroed in on the door that everyone worked behind. She ran once again and ripped the door open. The sudden sound caused everyone in the office to look over at her. One person in particular narrowed his eyes at her, "You're late, kid."
It was exactly as she thought. Kunikida was the first one to lecture her about being late. He didn't even wait for her to completely walk into the office. Hiromi ignored what he had said. She breathed heavily, "It's here!" She tried to catch her breath from all the running she had just done.
There was silence. Everyone just stared at her with confusion. Atsushi was the first one to question the girl, "What's here, Hiromi?" The girl wanted to reply, but she was so out of breath from running all the way here from her apartment.
Someone finally got sick and tired of waiting for the girl to answer. A sigh came from Ranpo, who sat in his chair with his feet up on his desk, "She means her results from the UA entrance exam." The girl was thankful that he had answered for her. That was enough for everyone to jump to attention.
Hiromi walked over to the group with the letter in hand. The others met her in the middle, excitement on all of their faces. "So what're the results?" Kenji inquired.
A shrug from the green-haired girl was his response, "I haven't opened it yet."
"Then open it!" Tanizaki exclaimed.
Taking a quick look around, Hiromi noticed that there was someone missing. "Where's Yosano?" Hiromi's eyes darted around to find the woman. Yosano was one of the ones most excited to find out if Hiromi had gotten in or not. Ranpo pointed over in the direction of the infirmary. Not feeling like walking all the way to the infirmary, Hiromi just shouted, "Yosano! Get in here! It's here!"
Just like that, the sound of something metallic dropping in the infirmary sounded. Footsteps followed soon after and the dark-haired woman was running over to all of them. "Move out of the way!" Yosano basically pushed her way through the crowd of people. The doctor found her way to Hiromi's side, "What are you waiting for? Open it!"
"Yeah, Hiro!" Dazai agreed. "Don't leave us all in suspense!"
This was it. Hiromi nodded and took a deep breath. She went to open it when she suddenly froze. She turned to the others, "But what if I didn't get in?" They gestured for her to just open it. Hiromi looked back at the envelope, going to open it once again. Once again, the girl had frozen up. "But what if-"
Hands grabbed the letter away from her, "Oh, my God, just hand it over!" It was Naomi. She had an impatient look on her face just like everyone else. "I'll open it for you!" Hiromi nodded in thanks to the girl. Knowing how anxious she was, Hiromi wouldn't be surprised if she had ended up stalling even longer than she did.
The envelope was ripped open and something came falling out. It was a black circular device. All of a sudden, the device showed a projection to them. All Might, the number one hero in Japan, appeared before them in a yellow suit. "Hello, Young Kawakami!" Hiromi flinched at her last name. She didn't like her last name at all. It just brought up bad memories for her. "Yes, it is I, All Might! You're looking at the newest UA faculty member! And I am here to give you your results!"
"Just get on with it already!" Yosano yelled. She was shaking Hiromi back and forth causing the girl to get dizzy from all of the movement. Dazai intercepted the woman, saving Hiromi from the torture she had just been put through.
Being dizzy was all Hiromi was able to focus on. She didn't pay attention to any of the words the projection of All Might was saying. That is until he had said, "Hiromi Kawakami, I am pleased to tell you that you passed! Welcome to your hero academia!" And just like that, the projection ended.
There was a moment of silence before everyone finally burst into cheers. Hiromi was getting hugged and congratulated left and right. It felt unreal to her. "What's going on here?" A stern, older voice asked. Everyone turned their attention to the door. Standing in the doorway was the President.
An arm was slung around Hiromi's shoulders by Dazai, "Well, Hiromi here has just been accepted into the hero course at UA! We were all just congratulating her."
The President turned his attention to Hiromi. The girl was already staring at him. He gave her a small smile and nodded at her, "Congratulations, Hiromi." With that final conversation, the President went on his way to wherever he was heading. Hiromi found herself smiling widely. There were a select few people that she valued the opinion of in the agency. The President was one of them. Getting congratulated by him made her even happier than she already was.
"Let's all go celebrate!" Yosano grabbed Hiromi's arm and started dragging her away. Everyone else followed suit, talking loudly and laughing with each other. Hiromi's grin turned soft as she glanced around at everyone. This was exactly where she belonged. These people were all her family and she wouldn't change it for the world.

To celebrate, they had all went out to their usual hangout place. It was a cafe called Café Uzumaki. It was on the first floor of the building that the agency resided in. They always went here during lunch breaks or just to hang out before or after work. Dazai had offered to pay for anything that Hiromi was going to get. The girl knew he wasn't going to pay for it. He was only going to put it on his tab that kept growing more and more by the day. She doubted he would ever pay it.
Overall, Hiromi was having a really great time. She was spending time with her friends, basically her family, after finding out really great news. As time went on though, Hiromi could feel worry biting at her again. It felt like all she was feeling lately was worry. The girl told the group she would be right back as she went to go get some air. They had all passed it off as her needing a moment to freak out in excitement by herself.
There was one person who didn't think this. Atsushi followed after the girl to check on her. When he found her, she was fidgeting with her hands as she stared off into space. The weretiger walked over to her and stopped when he stood by her side, "Hey, are you okay?"
It was like she didn't even notice him at first, "What?" She shook her head as she realized that he was there. She didn't even notice he had followed her out of the cafe. "Oh, yeah! I'm fine. Just worried." As usual. It was starting to become a problem at this point.
"About what?" Atsushi questioned.
"UA," Hiromi fidgeted even more. "I'm not a big fan of change." She never was. All she had ever experienced for most of her life were things that completely uprooted her life. It happened more than once so you'd think she'd be used to it. All it did was make her dread it even more. She had never really had time to catch her breath until she and Dazai joined the agency.
"Is that all?" Atsushi pushed. Hiromi remained silent and avoided eye contact. She was hoping not to spill her guts today. He really was persistent though, she had to give him that. "There's something else, is there?"
A sigh escaped her, "Yeah. I'm kind of freaking out about what I'm going to say about my ability when I get there. There's bound to be some people who aren't going to like that I'm there. It's not like I can pass it off as a quirk either." Abilities tend to be more powerful and destructive than quirks. They would know that she doesn't have a quirk when they realize her ability is a lot more powerful than someone who would have a similar quirk. Abilities also tend to have longer and more intricate names. For example, Hiromi's ability was called Strange Weather in Tokyo. Quirk names tend to be more straightforward.
For the first time since the conversation started, Hiromi looked over at Atsushi. He was giving her a soft smile, "Hiromi, you don't need to worry about the other people there. So what if they don't like you? What's the point in caring about what they think when you don't even know them? Everyone at the agency loves you and your ability. What else would you need?" It was like he had known exactly what to say.
No words were coming from Hiromi. She had no idea what to even say to that. Of course she knew that the ADA loved her and her ability. Hearing that they loved her was like something else entirely. It was like it was something she had been waiting to hear for most of her life. Reaching forward, Hiromi wrapped her arms around Atsushi, "Thank you."
"You're welcome," Atsushi said.
The two of them stayed like that for a moment. Hiromi was the first to pull away. She seemed to be in thought once more. What she said next surprised even herself, "Um... Would it be alright if..," The minute that Atsushi went to meet her gaze, she turned away. "You take the train and walk with me on my first day? I'll probably find some excuse not to go if I go alone." She also just needed someone to reassure her that everything was going to be fine.
And Atsushi didn't need her to tell him for him to know that. "I would love to," The boy grinned at her. Hiromi thanked him with a small smile of her own. He held his hand out for her to take, "Now let's go. The others are probably wondering where we are." Not wasting another moment, Hiromi took his hand into her own. The two walked back into the cafe. Hiromi was starting to get excited for her first day at UA.
