Louis barely slept at night . He was restless , tossing and turning . He tried to quiet down his mind , just enough so he could get a bit of sleep . He couldn't .

Harry stayed up with him . He couldn't rest while Louis was working himself up , he held him and kissed him for as long as Louis let him before Louis pulled away and scooted over a bit for some space .

It was early in the morning , around six a.m , that Louis decided he'd had enough of trying to sleep . He stood up from from and went to shower and brush his teeth .

He stepped out of the bathroom in his robe that he put in the mini-drier , Harry just finished making their bed and put the last pillows at the top .

Harry walked over to him and kissed his forehead , hands on Louis' waist pulling him closer to his body . Louis wrapped his arms around Harry and leaned his head on his chest , letting out a soft sigh when Harry gave him a warm squeeze .

"I'll shower and make us breakfast ." Harry kissed the top of his head , breathing in the scent of his shampoo before letting go so Louis could go get dressed .

Harry showered quickly and put on his clothes , Louis was sitting on the cloud couch wrapped in a blanket and watching cartoons . He made a stop to kiss his cheek and went downstairs to the kitchen to make breakfast .

He brought everything up to the lounge on a tray , placing it on the table . He handed Louis his tea cup , Louis held the cup with both hands , blowing on the drink a bit . Harry was looking at him , he glanced at Harry quickly before looking back to the TV . Neither said a word .

Harry ate his toast and finished his coffee , looking at the clock on the wall . "We need to get ready ."

Louis put his half-eaten toast and finished tea cup on the table , and followed Harry to the closet-room in their bedroom .

They got dressed quietly , Harry kept looking over at Louis . He put his gun and knife in his belt , slipping a punching ring into one of his pockets , then turned to Louis .

Louis' mouth was in a frown , jaw tight and eyes already glossy . Harry wordlessly pulled Louis into a tight cuddle , his arms held Louis as tightly as he could without suffocating him . Louis took in a shaky breath and sighed , Harry brought one hand up to cup the back of Louis' head as he leaned down to kiss his temple .

Liam and Victor picked them up , Liam stepped out of the passenger's seat and gave Louis a tight hug , patting Harry on the shoulder .

Harry opened the backseat door for Louis to get in , Louis smiled a bit when he saw that Odin was in the backseat aswell . He got inside and hugged Odin , petting and kissing him . Harry sat next to him and kissed Odin aswell .

Louis kept his arms wrapped around Odin all the ride ; he wanted Odin to be in his lap , but couldn't because of the injury in his leg from the bullet graze . He was pressed to Harry's side with Odin on his other side , both calming him down in their presence .

They reached the cemetary . Louis felt like he couldn't breathe .

Liam and Victor stepped out of the Range Rover , leaving the couple to get out on their own time .

Louis rubbed his eyes , throat already tight with tears . Odin whined a bit and licked his cheek , Harry kept his arm around him and pulled him closer to his side , kissing the side of his head , "Take a deep breath , baby . I'm here with you , whenever you're ready to step out ."

Louis took a few deep breaths , coming to the conclusion that calming all the way down and stepping out of the car without having tears in his eyes just wouldn't happen . He took his hands off his face and nodded , "'m ready ."

Harry kissed his cheek and opened the door , he stepped out and held the door open for Louis and Odin . He took Louis' hand in his and laced their fingers , Odin walked alongside Louis as they went down the pathway .

Louis smiled a bit at the sight of all of his dogs there , but then the smile dropped when he saw the pit . He moved his gaze to look over at his dogs again , frowning at how restless Donna looked . She kept whining , she was switching between sitting and laying down .

"Donna . Pup come here ." He managed to say through a choked throat , Donna walked over to him and sat next to him , Louis petted her softly .

Zayn and Niall came over and gave Louis tight hugs , he thanked them for being there and let Zayn fix his hair a bit .

It was when everyone gathered closer , standing up and watching as guards lined up on both sides of the pathway , all wearing their formal uniform , that Louis felt like he was actually going to burst into tears .

It was quiet , too quiet , only quiet shuffles were heard , sounds of steps , the wind that blew through the trees .

Harry put his arm around Louis' waist , holding Louis to his side , almost as if trying to keep him together . He could feel him trembling , he kissed his temple and rubbed his side softly .

Four guards came into Louis' view from afar , carrying Chess' casket on their shoulders - and that was when his walls broke . He covered his face in his hands and cried , forcing himself not to collapse to the ground .

The guards on both sides on the pathway saluted as the casket was carried down the pathway to the pit . Harry along with more guards saluted aswell as the casket was getting closer .

The casket was finally in front of them , the guards kneeled down in sync and slowly , carefully lowered the casket down to the pit . Louis turned to bury himself in Harry's chest , who wrapped his arms around him tightly .

Donna was crying now , nudging and scratching the casket . Harry watched her , his eyebrows furrowed for a moment and he took a mental note to check something .

He looked down at Louis , who was still buried in his chest , and took it upon himself to say a few words .

"Chess was a great pup . He was loving , he was loyal , he was good at his job . He was a funny one , too . When Louis first started training him , Chess was giving him a bit of a hard time . They both made an amazing progress together , and Chess became just as incredible as we hoped him to be . He will be loved forever , he will be remembered forever ."

Harry finished and pressed a kiss to the top of Louis' head , Louis pulled back from his chest and let Harry wipe his cheeks and eyes . He took a deep breath and turned around to face the casket , he took a bouquet of flowers and laid it on the casket , legs shaking as he lowered down .

Odin was by Louis' side , Louis hugged his pup and kissed his head , using Odin for support to stand back up and walked over to Harry .

After Louis , Liam placed flowers on the casket , and then Harry and Victor .

Liam walked over to Louis with a box in his hands , Louis took it from him with a confused look on his face .

"Open it ." Liam said with a small smile .

Louis opened the small box , a teary smile spreading on his lips at the sight of Chess' collar with his name tag . Liam teared up with him and rubbed his back , Harry pressed his lips to Louis' temple for a few seconds .

Niall , Zayn , Victor , Laura , Harley , and more came over to Louis , giving him hugs and comforting words .

They all left the cemetary together , going to the office building and to the dogs' pavilion .

Rodrigo and his team made food for everyone , Louis sat at one of the tables and looked around the room , a faint smile on his lips . He was snapped out when a plate was placed on the table in front of him and Harry sat next to him .

"What got you so deep in thoughts ?" Harry asked and moved Louis' fringe from his eyes .

"Just .. looking around the room at everyone ." Louis said quietly , his voice rough from crying . "I almost can't believe that everyone in here is like family to me , that I have people to call a family again ."

Harry moved to sit closer to Louis and kissed his cheek lovingly , "You'll always have us in your life , we'll always be there for you whenever you need us ."

"Thank you ." Louis leaned on his shoulder .

Harry took Louis' small hand , "I brought you food ."

"Thanks . I'll eat it in a bit ." Louis nodded and squeezed Harry's hand .

It was quiet between them for a few seconds , before Harry spoke up . "Baby ."

"Mm ?"

"Have you noticed that Donna was very upset today ?"

"Yeah ." Louis nodded , "My poor pup ."

"Have you also noticed that her nipples are a bit more prominent , like Mint's used to be ?"

Louis froze for a few seconds before he lifted his head up to look at Harry . "Are you implying that -- that she's pregnant ?"

"I'm implying she's pregnant with Chess' pups ."
