Chapter 98
She shot a disapproving look at him before answering the phone. "Y/N, are you on your way back? Joonie and I are absolutely famished."
"We're actually heading to the grocery store right now..."
Krystal fell into a stunned silence. "You've haven't gone grocery shopping yet? Your son and I are starving. I did warn you not to get too carried away and forget about us. Seems I was right. Mr. Beast can't control himself?"
Y/N sighed in apology. "I'm really sorry... We did buy some clothes, and we're on our way to the grocery store now. Could you find a snack to tide you over for a bit?"
Krystal retorted, "This is Park Jimin's house. How am I supposed to find snacks?"
"Then just wait for us, we'll be home soon."
After ending the call, Y/N turned her attention to the man helping her get dressed. She gently moved his hand away, grabbed a pair of panties, and swiftly put them on. Then, she picked out a dress to wear and urged him, "Let's go to the grocery store quickly."
He assisted her in pushing the shopping cart and selecting the necessary ingredients. Once they completed their shopping, he paid for everything, and they headed back to the house.
While Y/N was busy in the kitchen preparing lunch, Jimin took the opportunity to book a flight back to Seoul. He felt it was the right time to return.
Around 4 PM, they sat down to enjoy the meal. Krystal, who had been up since early morning taking care of Joon Min, decided to retire to her room for a nap. She was a bit annoyed, blaming their nocturnal activities for her lack of sleep. Y/N, on the other hand, thought it was a bit of an exaggeration since the room was well-soundproofed, and she hadn't heard a thing the previous night.
Because Y/N had woken up late that day, she didn't feel the need for a nap. Instead, she spent her time playing with Joon Min while Jimin worked in his study. After a while, he emerged from his study and approached her.
"Lisa's uncle invited us for dinner," Jimin informed her.
"Us?" Y/N was taken aback. It made sense for him to be invited, but she couldn't understand why she was included.
Jimin nodded. "Yes, 'us.' Lisa and Mingyu will be there as well."
Y/N contemplated this and narrowed her eyes. "So, this must be Seulgi's way of extending the invitation to me, right?"
Jimin chuckled. "Why bother thinking about her? It's a free dinner; let's just go."
While Jimin was concerned about Lisa's well-being and curious about the reason behind her uncle's invitation, Y/N had reservations. She held a grudge against Seulgi for her involvement in harming her daughter.
"Fine," Y/N finally agreed. "I'll consider it as accompanying Lisa and Mingyu for dinner."
"I'm going to cook dinner for Joon Min and Krystal," Y/N informed Jimin.
"I'll help you," Jimin offered.
Dinner was scheduled for 7 PM, and Krystal had been napping until half-past six. Y/N asked her to look after Joon Min and then joined Jimin in getting ready.
Upon arriving at the dinner, they found everyone already inside. Seulgi appeared to have undergone a significant transformation in her appearance and demeanor. She was dressed in an elegant black slip dress adorned with pearls, a clear sign of her newfound affluence. It was evident that Lisa's uncle was treating her very well; otherwise, he wouldn't have married her.
Lisa's uncle had earned a reputation as a notorious playboy. After divorcing his legal wife, he had countless affairs but had shown no intention of settling down until he met Seulgi. Clearly, she had managed to captivate him enough to make him commit to marriage.
"What's the special occasion, Uncle? Today you kindly invited us for dinner," Lisa inquired, her tone tinged with curiosity.
Their relationship had never been close. After her father's passing, he had shown a strong interest in her assets and position, which left her with a lingering resentment.
"We don't have a good relationship, so I wanted to take this opportunity to mend things," he explained. "This past year, Jimin has always been by your side, helping you. I thought you two might end up together, but you chose Kim Mingyu."
"Life is unpredictable, Uncle," Lisa replied casually.
"Yes, indeed," he nodded, his gaze shifting towards Y/N.
Y/N felt a sense of discomfort under his scrutinizing stare. Jimin, noticing her unease, stepped closer and fixed a stern gaze on him. "Mr. Manobal, why do you always enjoy staring at people?"
He seemed to snap out of his thoughts and offered a warm smile. "So, this is Park Jimin's ex-wife? I've heard about you from Seulgi. You must be Ms. Song, correct?" He extended his hand towards her.
"Y/N is going to be my wife soon, so there's no need for handshakes," Jimin firmly held onto Y/N's hand, not allowing her to accept the offered handshake. His possessive gesture was quite evident, and he didn't care if it came off as offensive. He couldn't stand the thought of another man touching his woman.
The guest pulled his hand back awkwardly, trying to maintain his composure. "It seems that Jimin really cares about Ms. Song."
Jimin's gaze remained locked on Y/N, filled with affection. "Of course, she's my soulmate," he declared proudly.
Y/N blushed but returned his smile. This was her man, and she had no reason to shy away from his confession in front of everyone.
The conversation shifted, with one of the guests remarking, "We haven't seen each other in a few years, but you guys still look the same."
Everyone's attention turned to Seulgi, who raised her glass with a polite smile.
"Yes, we're still the same." Y/N couldn't help but add her own comment, a hint of sarcasm in her tone. "But I've noticed that Ms. Kim, my apologize, I mean Ms. Kang has changed drastically. I almost couldn't recognize her—her gestures and personality are different. I remember when Ms. Kang used to be a national goddess."
Seulgi's expression faltered, but she forced a smile, choosing to ignore the comment.
"Okay, since everyone knows each other, it seems destiny has brought us together for this dinner gathering," he spoke, his seniority requiring a degree of restraint.
Lisa chimed in, her sharp tongue reminiscent of Jimin's. "Seulgi is your aunt now."
"You must be joking, I only have one aunt. I will not admit the other one." Lisa's refusal to accept Seulgi as her aunt amused Y/N, making the dinner more enjoyable than she had anticipated. It was turning into an interesting evening filled with offended expressions.
Y/N couldn't help but notice the striking similarity between Jimin and Lisa. They both possessed sharp tongues and a knack for delivering cutting remarks.
Her uncle, trying to ease the tension, pointed out, "No matter how, you guys are around the same age."
Lisa, unrelenting, responded, "I'm still in my mid-twenties, but can't you tell that Ms. Kang is almost thirty? We're from different generations."
Y/N glanced at Seulgi, a talented actress who was, as Lisa had guessed, twenty-nine - older than both her and Jimin. She couldn't deny the impact of Lisa's words; age remained a sensitive topic for women, especially those nearing thirty.
Lisa had clearly intended to embarrass Seulgi, and her uncle seemed taken aback by how the dinner had unfolded. He decided to redirect the conversation, saying, "I wanted to let you all know that Seulgi will also be working at the company."
Finally, they had reached the main topic of discussion.
Lisa's cold chuckle filled the air. "Oh? Wasn't Ms. Kang an actress? Now you want to change your profession and become a career woman? But do you have what it takes? You've never ventured into the business world. How can you handle it? Uncle, are you sure about employing someone like her?"
Her uncle, on the brink of losing his patience, warned, "Lalisa, I've already arranged a position for Seulgi, and I have my own considerations. Don't forget that I have a significant stake in the company, and I have the right to make hiring decisions."
Lisa persisted, "Where will you place her?"
Jimin, who had remained silent until now, finally spoke up. "Let me guess, you're preparing her to manage the branch office in Seoul?"
Her uncle nodded. "You guessed correctly."
"Since the company has a branch in Seoul, we can't just have Lisa handle it on her own. So, I'd like to arrange for someone to assist her. I initially thought Lisa would marry you, but it turns out she's engaged to Mingyu," he said, gesturing to the empty seat where Mingyu had been sitting before excusing himself.
"My brother really liked you, but now that you're no longer with Lisa, shouldn't you leave the company?"
So, this was the reason behind the dinner gathering tonight. He wanted to remove Jimin from the company, gradually seizing Lisa's position for himself. This was his first step in that direction.
"You should have stated your intentions earlier," Jimin responded calmly. "We already know your intentions very well, so why beat around the bush?"
He continued, "Mr. Manobal is right. Since I am no longer Lisa's fiance, then I should leave the company..."
Her uncle nodded, and Seulgi's face lit up with a smile.
Jimin picked up his glass of wine and continued, "But Mr. Manobal may not be aware that I am also a stockholder of the company now."
Her uncle's expression turned rigid. How had Jimin become a stockholder of Manobal International Inc in such a short amount of time?
"Uncle, you can verify it. It's true," Lisa chimed in with a smile.
Her uncle's face fell, and he could no longer contain his anger.
"This dinner is boring, and the food isn't good anyway," Lisa taunted. "Jimin, Y/N, how about we eat elsewhere?"
Jimin affectionately patted Lisa's head. "Call her sister-in-law..."
"Sister-in-law," Lisa said promptly.
Y/N smiled. "There's no need to eat out. Let's go home, and I'll cook for you."
"Amazing!" Lisa grinned and left with them.
Now, only Lisa's uncle and Seulgi remained in the room. Just before they left, Lisa turned and added, "Oh, by the way, I heard that you and Ms. Kang will have a wedding soon. My apologies, but I won't have time to attend because I'll be in Seoul."
As they were leaving, Lisa asked, "Are you guys coming back tomorrow? I have booked my ticket for tomorrow. Let's go back together."
"We don't know if we're going on the same flight," Jimin replied.
Lisa shrugged her shoulders. "I asked your assistant to book my ticket, though."
Lisa had arrived with Mingyu, who had initially planned to pick her up after the dinner. However, it seemed he hadn't anticipated it ending so quickly, so Lisa ended up leaving with Jimin and Y/N.
Inside the car, there was an air of silence until they spotted a woman crying while holding onto a man. The man seemed to be trying to push her away until they eventually embraced.
Even though Y/N had only met Mingyu twice, she recognized him immediately. So this was the urgent matter that had caused him to leave the dinner so abruptly?
They continued driving, and Y/N glanced at Lisa through the rear-view mirror. Lisa appeared calm and composed, with not a hint of hurt on her face. Y/N understood that their relationship was primarily business-based. However, it was still embarrassing to witness Mingyu hugging another woman by the roadside in his car.
Most people might have confronted him or caused a scene in such a situation, but Lisa remained silent, observing them all. It was becoming clear to Y/N that despite her young age, Lisa was a strong and composed individual.
After they arrived at Jimin's house, Lisa received a call from Mingyu. It seemed he had finally remembered her and wanted to pick her up.
"No need, I already left. I saw you earlier, on the roadside. Mingyu, you need to behave and think before you do something. I don't care if you're seeing another girl, but I don't want anyone to find out about her. How could you do such a shameful thing in public like that? If it was photographed by the media, it wouldn't end well for both of us! I hope this won't happen again," Lisa scolded him and promptly hung up.
She put her phone in her pocket and then wrapped her arm around Y/N's. "Sister-in-law, what will you cook for me?"
Although she had sounded tough on the phone with Mingyu earlier, now she sounded cute, returning to her normal self. Y/N realized that she had no romantic feelings for Mingyu, but she wasn't quite sure if that was a good thing or a bad thing.
"What do you want to eat?" Y/N asked.
Lisa's big, beautiful eyes lit up. "Can you make whatever I like?"
Y/N smiled. "Maybe." She was an expert in cooking and could make just about anything. Even if she'd never made a particular dish before, she'd find a way.
Lisa was a foodie and immediately listed all the dishes she was craving. Y/N checked the fridge and began cooking for everyone. Since they were leaving tomorrow, she decided to use up all the ingredients they had.
Joon Min and Krystal hadn't had their dinner yet, so they all gathered in the dining room and enjoyed the meal together.
When they arrived in Seoul, Taehyung came to pick up Krystal and offered to drop her off at home. Jimin headed to the parking lot for his car, planning to drive Lisa home first. However, Y/N had a different request.
"Could you drop me off at the Song residence?" she asked.
Jimin turned to her, his eyebrows furrowed. "You're still planning to stay there?"
Y/N understood his question. She knew he wanted her to move in with him.
"We just got back, shouldn't I at least go home first? Plus, I need to ask my ma for permission to move out," she explained.
Jimin seemed pleased with her response, his expression softening. "So when will you move out?"
Y/N noticed his impatience. "Excuse me, Mr. Park. What should be my status when I move in with you? Ex-wife? Girlfriend? Lover?"
Jimin didn't answer her question; instead, he simply accelerated the car.
Y/N was startled and tightened her grip on her seatbelt. "Jimin, why are you speeding up? Can you please drive slower?"
"It's almost time for the workers to go home. If we don't hurry, it will be too late," Jimin replied.
Y/N was puzzled, not understanding his rush. "What?"
"The civil administration office," he explained.
It was almost five thirty, and the office would close soon. Y/N's curiosity piqued. "What are you going to do there?"
"To register our marriage," Jimin declared, continuing to accelerate the car. "I want you to move in with me as my wife. Are you happy?"
"I don't have my household register with me," Y/N protested.
"I'll have someone bring it," Jimin assured her.
"Park Jimin, isn't this too rushed?" Y/N couldn't believe the turn of events, and she regretted provoking him earlier.
They were about to close the door when they arrived. An old woman asked, "Young man, are you here to register your marriage?"
"Yes, my wife and I came to register our marriage. Can you open the door and let us in?" Jimin requested, his tone filled with desperation.
"It's time to get off work, you can come tomorrow," the old woman replied.
Jimin, a master at talking his way into things, decided to use his skills. "I just checked the gunghap, today is a good day."
The old woman scrutinized his face. "Aigoo, what a good man. You know it's good to check the gunghap before getting married. Indeed today is a good day, a lot of people were queuing today..."
Upon hearing her words, Jimin's eyes immediately brightened. "Then can you please open the door? We will be the last couple."
Y/N couldn't help but feel a bit embarrassed by the situation.
The old woman shifted her gaze to Y/N, who was carrying Joon Min. "Is this your wife?"
"Yes," Jimin immediately answered, pulling Y/N closer.
Y/N was concerned. "Be gentle, what if Joonie wakes up?"
"Is that your son?" The old woman inquired.
A/N: how are you liking the story? Tell me anything!
