Chapter 95

A/N: Listen to the song I put for this chapter while reading!

Jimin parked his car and took a moment to smoke, relieving the stress that had built up. After finishing his cigarette, he headed home.

Inside, Y/N was with Joon Min, helping him with his writing. However, her mind seemed preoccupied, likely due to the recent events. Whenever Joon Min finished writing a word, he'd glance at her for approval.

Finally, Y/N snapped back to the present, gently stroking Joon Min's hair. "Sorry, Joonie, let's continue..."

As she was about to resume, Jimin entered the living room, causing her to startle. "You're home," she said.

Jimin settled onto the sofa, loosening his tie and undoing a couple of shirt buttons. "I've handled the photos," he informed her.

Y/N recalled the conversation she had with Lisa the other day. She gently set her pen down and then lovingly ran her fingers through Joon Min's hair. Encouraging him to keep writing, she moved closer to Jimin and sat down beside him.

"Lisa mentioned that you used your project to make a deal with Taemin," she inquired, concern etching her face as she looked at Jimin.

Jimin reclined on the sofa, spreading his legs out, his weariness evident. "It's taken care of. The photos are gone now."

"Park Jimin..." Y/N began, her tone filled with a mixture of gratitude and concern.

Jimin's attention shifted to Joon Min, and he interrupted their conversation. "I'm taking Joon Min to Singapore in two days."

Y/N was taken aback by this sudden announcement but managed to nod. "Okay," she replied, her voice tinged with a hint of sadness. Then, she mentioned something that Lisa had told her. "Lisa mentioned that you'll be engaged."

Jimin fixed his gaze on her, his eyes searching her face for a reaction. "Do you care?" he asked pointedly.

Y/N's head dropped slightly, and she nervously bit her lip. She remained silent, unable to provide a straightforward answer.

Jimin's grip tightened on her wrist as he spoke with a mix of frustration and disappointment. "If you have a heart, you can definitely tell that I am waiting for you. Perhaps you never had me inside your heart. No matter how many years I wait for you, it's still the same."

He released her wrist abruptly and ascended the stairs, leaving her stunned and her heart racing. Jimin's disappointment weighed heavily on her, and she was left grappling with her emotions.

The media continued to buzz with news about Lisa's engagement. She had chosen Valentine's Day as the date for the engagement ceremony. Jimin had taken Joon Min and Lisa back to Singapore a couple of days earlier. The paparazzi had captured them in photographs, portraying them as a family of three. Although no one dared to approach them for an interview, these photos still made headlines in the news. They had returned to make preparations for the engagement party.

Krystal had come over to the Song residence after dinner and noticed Shin Ji in the kitchen washing dishes. She inquired, "Auntie, where's Y/N?"

Shin Ji wiped her hands and replied, "She just went upstairs. Please, take her out. Her mood hasn't been the greatest these days."

Krystal nodded in understanding. "Don't worry, Auntie. I'm here to take her out."

She made her way upstairs and gently pushed open the door to Y/N's room. Y/N was seated on her bed, her gaze fixed on something. It was a photo of her, Jimin, and Joon Min when she was pregnant. Y/N seemed lost in her thoughts, not even noticing Krystal's presence until she took the photo.

"Krystal."

Y/N set the frame on her bedside table, and Krystal said, "Let's go out."

Y/N shook her head and replied, "I don't want to go out, you can go."

Krystal was persistent. "Come on." She went to Y/N's wardrobe, picked out a coat and scarf, and draped them over her. "Taehyung has booked a table. Let's dance and have a drink together. What are you doing by staying home like a loser?"

Finally, she managed to coax Y/N out of the house. Before heading to the karaoke place, they took a leisurely stroll. Krystal tried her best to keep the conversation lively and lift Y/N's spirits, but it was evident that Y/N was still preoccupied.

"Y/N, smile," Krystal encouraged, but Y/N managed only a forced smile that quickly faded. "How can your smile be uglier than your crying face?"

Y/N's comment left Krystal momentarily speechless. After a pause, she admitted, "Then what do you want me to do?"

Krystal's voice carried a hint of frustration as she said, "I actually don't know."

"I know that you still care about Jimin," Krystal continued, "perhaps you should look for him and ask him to cancel his engagement with Lisa."

Y/N turned her head and gazed absently at nothing in particular, choosing not to respond.

Krystal was clearly not in a good mood herself. "Taemin came to find me today."

Y/N inquired, "What did he want?"

"I don't know," Krystal admitted, biting her lip. "He wanted to have dinner at my house and then left."

Y/N's frown deepened at this puzzling behavior from Taemin.

Y/N could sense Krystal's pain as she spoke about Taemin. She hugged her tightly, offering silent support during this emotional moment.

As Krystal wiped her tears away, her phone rang, interrupting the heavy atmosphere. After the call, Krystal grabbed her hand and said, "Let's go, we don't need to worry about anything today. Let's dance!"

Y/N nodded, grateful for Krystal's efforts to lift her spirits. Together, they headed out to enjoy the night and find solace on the dance floor.

They settled onto the sofa, and Taehyung thoughtfully handed them both glasses of mocktail. Krystal, however, shot him a fierce look.

"Where's the real deal?" Krystal demanded. "Mocktails won't cut it."

Taehyung frowned. "Come on, it's better if you avoid getting drunk tonight."

Krystal chuckled, her eyes determined. She clapped Taehyung on the shoulder. "You underestimate me, huh? Well then, let's see who can handle their alcohol better."

"Krystal..." Taehyung began, but it was too late. Krystal retrieved two bottles of tequila and placed them on the table. She grabbed several glasses and filled them to the brim with tequila, then handed one to Y/N. "Y/N, bottoms up! We're going for a wild night!"

"Here's yours, Tae. But be warned, you can't compete with me," Krystal declared, pouring him a shot. "Let's toast, guys..."

She knocked back her first shot, and by the time she reached her fourth, Taehyung decided it was enough and tried to stop her. "That's plenty," he insisted.

Krystal, now a little tipsy, scoffed and leaned back on the sofa. "Think you can stop me?" She laughed, then grabbed the bottle, taking a swig directly from it.

Taehyung, startled, swiftly snatched the bottle from her, causing some of the liquid to spill on her clothes. He set the bottle on the table and examined her wet coat.

Krystal gasped, staring at her soaked garment. "You've made me all wet!"

"Come with me," Taehyung said, ignoring her protests as he led her to the bathroom.

Y/N observed them leaving and grabbed the glass of tequila that Krystal had poured for her. She only drank alcohol occasionally and didn't really know her tolerance because she had never gotten drunk before. But tonight, she wanted to forget about everything.

The bathroom door remained closed for quite some time until Taehyung and Krystal finally emerged. "What were you two doing in there? Get a room!"

Taehyung shot them a glare. "Don't talk nonsense."

Everyone laughed, but they didn't press the matter further. Krystal's lips were slightly swollen, and if Taehyung claimed nothing happened, no one would believe him.

He guided Krystal back to their table, holding her hand as he helped her sit. She was clearly drunk, leaning on the sofa with her eyes closed. Taehyung handed her a glass of water, which she accepted before opening her eyes. "Wait, where's Y/N?"

Taehyung gestured to Y/N, who seemed to have consumed all the tequila bottles. Now, Taehyung had two drunken women on his hands, and he was starting to get a headache. Why did both of them have to get drunk at the same time?

Krystal embraced Y/N and slurred, "Have you finished your glass? Let me pour you another one. Let's not go home until we're drunk."

Taehyung's headache intensified. Both of these girls were already drunk, so why did she keep insisting on getting even more intoxicated?

Krystal began vomiting, making it clear that they couldn't stay any longer. Taehyung couldn't handle two drunk women at once, so he decided to call Jungkook to pick up Y/N and take care of her while he took Krystal home.

During the ride home, Y/N vomited once, clearly not feeling well. Jungkook offered her a bottle of water. "Are you feeling unwell?"

Y/N closed her eyes and didn't answer, but she kept murmuring a name. "Jimin..."

Jungkook felt a pang of confusion and frustration. "If you care about him, why did you let him go?" he muttered to himself. He then decided to take action. He reached into his bag and grabbed Y/N's phone, dialing Jimin's number. When Jimin answered, he held the phone close to Y/N's mouth so he could hear her soft, slurred voice calling his name.

"Y/N, what happened?" Jimin's concerned voice echoed through the phone.

Jimin's concern for her grew so strong that he almost booked a flight back home. However, when Jungkook informed him of Y/N's condition, he felt a mix of relief and worry.

"Where is she?" Jimin asked urgently.

"In my car, I'm taking her home," Jungkook replied.

The real reason Jungkook had called Jimin was to convey Y/N's deep feelings for him. About to hang up, he was caught off guard when Jimin said, "Jungkook, tell Y/N that I'm waiting for her."

"Okay," Jungkook agreed before ending the call and placing the phone back in Y/N's bag. As Y/N continued to call out Jimin's name in her drunken state, Jungkook felt somewhat helpless. "I'm Jungkook, Jeon Jungkook," he murmured to himself, "not your Jimin."

Given Y/N's hangover, Shin Ji had decided to let her sleep in that morning. When she finally woke up in the afternoon, her head was throbbing. She gently pushed aside her blanket and made her way downstairs.

In the kitchen, Shin Ji was engrossed in conversation with a friend. "You're awake. I've prepared some soup for you. Heat it up and have it," she instructed Y/N.

Y/N nodded and proceeded to warm up the soup on the stove.

Y/N recalled the events of the previous night when she had consumed a significant amount of alcohol, and she remembered that Taehyung had brought her home. As she

waited for her food to heat up, her phone began to ring.

"Are you awake? Are you still dealing with a headache?" a familiar voice inquired.

She was taken aback. "You helped us last night, didn't you?"

"Of course, no trouble at all," Jungkook replied. "We're friends, right? By the way, last night was the first time I've ever seen you drunk. You were calling out a specific name. Do you recall?"

Y/N felt a pang of anxiety and rubbed her temples. "Whose name was I calling?"

"Don't you know?" Jungkook questioned. "Y/N, if someone means a lot to you, don't let them slip away."

She bit her lip, her heart heavy with contemplation.

"When you were intoxicated and calling out his name, I grabbed your phone and dialed Jimin. He heard you, Y/N, calling his name," Jungkook explained. "He said he'll be waiting for you."

With a pause, he continued, "The engagement is still a few days away. You have time. You need to really think about what your heart desires. Ask yourself, do you want him or not?"

Y/N remained silent for a moment. "I do want him, but what can I do?"

"If you want him, then go find him," Jungkook encouraged.

"But, Jungkook, he's about to get engaged," Y/N replied, her voice tinged with despair.

Jungkook chuckled. "But he hasn't yet, right? That means you still have a chance. If you want him, why not go and seize that opportunity?"

The words "seize the opportunity" echoed in her mind long after their conversation had ended. Y/N couldn't help but ponder this decision deeply.

As the food was ready, Y/N's lack of focus led to an accident. She carelessly knocked over the bowl, causing it to shatter. Hearing the commotion, Shin Ji rushed to the kitchen, her face displaying concern as she assessed the mess on the floor. Meanwhile, Y/N was rinsing her injured hand with cold water.

Shin Ji's expression furrowed as she observed the situation. "How did this happen?" she inquired, her attention shifting to Y/N's injured hand. Swiftly, she retrieved the first aid kit and began applying ointment to the injured area.

"Y/N, are you thinking about Jimin's engagement?" Shin Ji asked, sensing the reason behind her daughter's distracted state.

Y/N simply nodded, her mind burdened by the thoughts of Jimin and the impending engagement.

Shin Ji carefully stored the ointment back in the first aid kit and released a sigh of understanding. "Ma knows you care deeply for Jimin. But if you don't at least try to find him..." She paused, choosing her words with care. "Even though I wish for you to have a peaceful and simple life, matters of the heart cannot be dictated. It's clear that you don't want anyone else but him. If there's a chance to be with him, it's worth putting in the effort so you won't have any regrets."

The encouragement from her mother, Jungkook, and even Krystal all echoed the same sentiment: She had six days before the engagement to reflect on her feelings and make a decision about pursuing Jimin.

Taehyung arrived at the Song residence the day before the engagement. "Y/N, this is the address of Jimin's place in Singapore."

She stared at it, the weight of her decision pressing upon her.

Taehyung observed her closely and sighed. "President Park has made it clear that this is your final opportunity. If you choose not to go, then it's truly the end."

As her breathing quickened and her hands trembled slightly, Taehyung knew she was wrestling with her emotions. "I've given you the address. It's time for you to make your choice."

After Taehyung left, Shin Ji looked at her daughter. "Go."

Y/N quickly grabbed her passport and wallet and left for the airport without packing anything else. Krystal accompanied her, and they purchased tickets. However, there was no direct flight to Singapore.

Krystal suggested, "Let's get tickets to Malaysia first. It's easier to find a flight to Singapore from there." They secured tickets to Malaysia, but the soonest available flight was at 11 PM. With hours to spare, they waited in the airport.

Y/N attempted to call Jimin, but his phone was switched off. They landed in Malaysia at around 5 AM, yet the closest flight to Singapore was at 11 AM. The train would take them seven hours, the last option was the bus. The bus would take five hours to arrive in Singapore.

Y/N leaned against the window, her hands tightly clasped together, her mind racing with worry. Krystal understood her anxiety and tried to reassure her. "Don't worry, we can still make it on time."

"It's supposed to start at 11, but it's already 7 now," Y/N replied, her concern evident. She was growing increasingly anxious, especially since she couldn't reach Jimin on his phone, which was still off.

Krystal shared Y/N's apprehension, but they were doing everything they could. She decided to call Taehyung, hoping that he might be able to contact Jimin and inform him that Y/N was on her way. Unfortunately, Taehyung couldn't attend the engagement party, as he was in Seoul and was also unable to reach Jimin.

"Krystal," Y/N said softly, her voice filled with worry, "If the engagement party has already started by the time we arrive, what should I do?"

Y/N's question caught Krystal off guard, leaving her equally uncertain about what to do if they arrived too late. She could only sit there in silence, her gaze fixed on her shoes, lost in thought. As they continued their journey, their anxiety mounting, the bus suddenly malfunctioned, leaving all the passengers stranded until it could be repaired.

By the time the bus was fixed and back on the road, only an hour remained before the engagement party was scheduled to begin. Y/N knew that they were unlikely to make it on time, but Krystal held her hand firmly. "No matter what happens, and since you're here, just run and check. We've already had a mishap, maybe there'll be a delay at their engagement party?"

Y/N recognized that Krystal was trying to provide her with some comfort, although the idea of such a coincidence seemed unlikely. However, as Krystal said, now that she was here, what was the point of giving up?

When they finally arrived, they took a taxi to reach the engagement party venue, but it was already 1 PM. Krystal urged the driver to go faster, but upon their arrival, they encountered an obstacle. It was an outdoor party, and they rushed to get there. However, lacking the required invitation cards, they were promptly stopped by the guards.

"We're friends of Mr. Park," Krystal tried to explain, "and we had the invitation cards, but we lost them."

Naturally, the guards remained skeptical and shook their heads. Y/N, struggling to contain her anxiety, asked, "Has the engagement party started yet?"

"Ma'am," the guard replied politely, "the engagement party has concluded. It began at 11:30, and it's 1 PM now."

Y/N's body tensed, her vision momentarily blurred. She had been all too aware of the time, yet a part of her had still held onto the hope that Krystal's theory of a delay might hold true. Hearing the guard's confirmation, the reality crashed over her.

She was too late.

"It's over? There wasn't any delay?" Krystal inquired.

The guard appeared somewhat impatient with the incessant questions, but he managed a smile. "Why would you think there would be a delay, Ms.?"

"It's just that it was all so sudden, maybe..." Krystal began, but Y/N pulled her aside.

"Y/N..."

She shook her head, her gaze lowered. "Let's go."

A/N: How are you enjoying the story si far?

Do you prefer a happy ending or a sad one?

I'm not sure how you personally define happiness or sadness, but regardless, I hope you're prepared for what's to come!
