Chapter 9

  The plan was for Hiccup to continue letting Rita think she was in control, because, frankly, you had no other option. Though, you had to admit, you didn't like the idea of her clinging to Hiccup all the time.
        That night, you had said goodnight to Hiccup, feeling lighter than you had in weeks. It had come quite a shock to know that Rita was related to Drago.... let alone that Drago even had a wife and children...
        You were currently sitting in the dining hall, your head in your hands. You hadn't seen Hiccup in over two weeks, and you had no idea how much you'd miss him. You didn't know how much longer this would go on. You'd have to do something about Rita eventually.
        "(Y/N)?" You turned around at the sound of your name.
        "Hiccup!" You ran over to him, burying your head in his chest. "I missed you," you whispered. He kissed the to[ of your head.
        "I missed you too (Y/N)." You broke apart, stepping back.
        "How have you been...?" You asked lamely, shifting your weight from one foot to another. Hiccup put a hand on your cheek.
        "I'm so sorry (Y/N)... I really am." You put your hand on his, smiling sadly.
        "Hiccup it's-"
        "No (Y/N), it's not. I didn't listen to you, and it's my fault we're in this mess. I don't know how I can make it up to you."
        "Hiccup, it's fine." Hiccup let his hand drop, and led you over to the table.
        "Well, what are we going to do? Rita's completely taking over everything! Yesterday, she suggested we move into the same room." You narrowed your eyes, sitting down.
        "Who does she think she is?" You spat. Hiccup pulled you into a hug.
        "If I didn't know better (Y/N), I'd say you were jealous." You pulled away, trying to glare at him, and failing. "Well, I should go (Y/N), Rita can't know I'm here." You sighed.
        "Okay, bye."
        "Bye (Y/N)." With that, Hiccup turned the corner, and was gone.

                                                                                                                     ~~~
        A knock sounded at your door. You got up from your spot at your deck, where you were sketching, bored out of your mind. You opened the door, coming face to face with a short, an rather plump man.
        "Miss (L/N)? I have a note from Chief Hiccup. He'd like you to come to his rooms as soon as possible."
        "O-okay." You blinked, surprised.
        Knocking quietly on Hiccup's door, you stepped back to wait.
        "Come in!" A call sounded. You slowly opened the door, closing it behind you.
        "Hiccup?" You called, stepping into the room, looking around. You jumped at the sound of a door creaking open. Spinning around, you saw Rita, standing in the doorway. "Rita?"
        "Hello (Y/N). You get my message?"
        "Your message?" Rita chuckled, taking a step towards you.
        "You're so naïve (Y/N), you know that? What could Hiccup, possibly want with you?" You gritted your teeth.
        "I think I'll be going..." You turned to leave, only to be blocked by Rita. She was smirking.
        "You know, I never intended on marrying Hiccup. I only ever wanted to take over the village. It's handsome chief was just a plus." Your eyes widened. "I'm sure you're wondering why I even want to take over the village huh?" You were shaking violently, but you tried your best to keep cool.
        "You're Drago's granddaughter." You answered as nonchalantly as you could manage. A look of surprised flashed temporarily across her face, just for a second, before she smirked at you.
        "You're sharper than I thought (Y/N)... Well, enough chatting." She pulled out what she was holding behind her back. You recognized it immediately as the decorative dagger Hiccup gave you the night of your birthday. You backed away, slowly, pinning yourself up against the wall. "Goodbye (Y/N)." Rita launched herself at you, dagger in hand. She seemed to be shaking just as badly as you, and it was easy to dodge her first attack. The dagger was lodged in the wall next to you. You knocked her down easily, tearing the dagger from it's spot of the wall, and spinning towards the door. You tore it open, dashing out the door and slamming it behind you. You didn't stop running until you were outside, leaning against a tree, gasping for breath. You were in utter shock.
        Rita just tried to kill me...
