Chapter 4

You walked along side Hiccup back to camp, swinging your arms back and fourth. The rest of the day after the tour had been pretty uneventful. You had pulled Hiccup off to look at some of the new plants surrounding the area, and recorded them in your notebooks. Then, you called it a day, gathered your group, and began the trek back to the makeshift tents that had been set up earlier that morning.
Humming to yourself, you sorted through your notebook as you walked, leafing through the drawings of all the leaves and flowers you and Hiccup found on your hike. You'd filled up almost half the pages with the plants you had found that day.
As the minutes dragged on, no one spoke, afraid of being the first one to break the silence. The sun set in the sky, and you watched as the last of the golden sunlight disappeared behind the thick trees, shivering as a cold breeze settled around you. You tucked your notebook into your coat, huddling closer to Hiccup in a feeble attempt to warm your frozen body. He wrapped an arm around you, bringing you closer to him.
"It's okay," he whispered, rubbing your arm.
"Thanks Hiccup," you whispered back, tucking your cold hands into your pockets. "I can't believe it gets colder here than it does in Berk." You laughed quietly, and he chuckled, kissing your forehead.
"You're so cute when you laugh."

                                                                            .                             .                               .

You awoke the next morning to the sound of heavy breathing. Your eyes shot open, and you sat up, glancing around. Next to you, Hiccup was sleeping soundly, his face had been only inches away from yours. Even though you were engaged, your face still burned, and you backed away slowly. No couple was supposed to sleep in the same bed or room until they were married, and it made sense, but there were only a certain number of tents so you had to share with him. Not that you minded- it was just kind of strange to see him right there when you woke up in the morning.
You smiled softly as Hiccup stirred, cracking open his eyes.
"Morning," he whispered, his voice cracking.
"Morning," you replied, pulling your hair back into a tight bun (if you have short hair, just ignore that XD).
"So, (Y/N), what do you want to do today?" Hiccup asked, sitting up and rubbing the sleep from his eyes.
        "Hmm, I don't know."
"I kind of wanted to go back to that village..." Hiccup trailed off as your face fell. "We don't have to!" He quickly added.
"No, Hiccup, I'd love to go back."
        "You sure?" He asked, uncertain.
"I'm sure Hiccup," you told him, giving him a quick peck on the cheek. Hiccup turned his head so you were full on kissing. You pulled away, rolling your eyes. "C'mon, we should get up." You grabbed Hiccup's hand, pulling as hard as you could. "Hiccup!" He chucked, standing up slowly.
        "Okay, I'm up! I'm up!"

                                                                                         .                                   .                         .
"Hiccup!" You heard a shrill voice call as you walked into the clearing. Rita came running over, nicely dressed in a little purlple dress- that was a little short for your taste. "You guys came back!"
"Yeah, we're hoping to stay for aother week or so." He told her smiling. You inwardly rolled your eyes.
"That's great! Being the leader's daughter and all, I could probably give you a little exclusive tour I you wanted."
"Oh, that's okay Rita, (Y/N) and I were just going to go exploring a bit by ourselves- but you're more than welcome to join us if you want." You sighed as she eagerly excepted.
"Well, we better get going then." You grabbed Hiccup, dragging him away, with Rita chattering happily, completely ingorning your presence. This is going to be a long day...
