Chapter 3
You immediately pulled your sword, holding it out in front of you.
"Who are you?" you demanded. The figure stepped out of the shadows. You could now clearly see a face... it was a girl. She stepped into the light so it accented her facial features. She was rather pretty, with dirty blond hair and what looked like orange-ish red eyes. You glared at her, holding your sword higher. She scoffed.
"And who are you?" She asked snottily, setting her hand on her hip. You had never hated someone so fast before. Her gaze softened when it landed on Hiccup. "Hello, I'm Rita," (Sorry if that's your name) she said, sticking out her hand.
"I'm Hiccup," he told her, hesitantly accepting the gesture. You glowered at her.
"I'm (Y/N)," you introduced yourself. She scanned you, smirking.
"Right..." You clenched your shaking fists to keep from throwing a punch at her.
"Well, what are you travelers doing here?" She crossed her arms. Hiccup opened his mouth, but you beat him to it.
"We're not travelers, we are exploring this new island!"
"Well, why don't I take you to our camp? We know all about this place, I'm sure the elder wouldn't mind telling you some things." Hiccup's eyes lit up.
"Would you?"
"Sure, why not?" She shrugged, turning around. "Hey! Guys come out! They're not dangerous!" At least a dozen people slunk from the shadows, armed with bows and swords. You gripped your sword tighter. The strangers surrounded you, and pushed you forward. You walked close to Hiccup, uneasy. Hiccup, being Hiccup sensed something was wrong, and grabbed your hand, giving it a comforting squeeze. You squeezed back, holding your head a little higher.
They led you through the thick underbrush, brushing past large ferns and the biggest trees you'd ever seen. Eventually, you came to a break in the trees, opening up into a huge sunny patch of land. There were little wooden huts scattered throughout the clearing, the dirt paths bustling with activity. You'd never expected to find a whole village out here.
Rita led the way through the camp, stopping at a large tent hidden between two huge trees. "This is the Elder's tent," she said, gesturing to it. You'd barely known her five minutes and you already wanted to strangle her. You could tell she was trying to impress Hiccup, either completely oblivious to the fact you were together, or just trying to get under your skin. Rita straightened her animal hide dress, batting her eyelashes at Hiccup.
You moved on to the last place on your tour: the stables. The stables were three little wooden house connected with fencing. Inside were all kinds of animals; horses, sheep, cows, and thankfully, no dragons.
Once the tour was finished, the group split up to explore the quaint, little village, and Rita walked over to where you and Hiccup were chatting. "So, you guys enjoy the tour?" She asked, speaking to Hiccup.
"Yes, we did," you told her in mock happiness, cutting gin front of her and Hiccup. She shot you a glare, but backed up.
"I'm glad."
"I never knew there were other humans inhabiting areas like these." Hiccup commented, looking around. Rita smiled.
"You're welcome to stay as long as you want, Hiccup." You grasped Hiccup's arm.
"Come on Hiccup, you promised to show me some of the new plants growing around here." You pulled him away, and Rita stomped over to a group of girls. Glad she's gone...
