Chapter 10

You knew you couldn't tell Hiccup about Rita attacking him knowing he had enough to worry about. After two long days locked up in your room, pondering on what you should do. Eventually, you came to a conclusion. You would go talk with Rita.
        Ordering two guards at your side, you made your way to her room, pausing outside the door, before knocking loudly. There was some shuffling and the door swung open, Rita standing in the doorway. As soon as she caught sight of you with two guards standing behind you, she stepped back, bowing her head.
        "May I help you?" She asked smoothly. You forced yourself to stay expressionless.
        "I'd like to talk." Rita took one last glance at your guards and stepped aside, allowing you to step in.
        "What about?" You sat down across from her at a table. You raised a hand, dismissing your guards to wait outside. They looked hesitant, but silently obeyed. Neither you nor Rita spoke until the door was closed behind the two men. Rita leaned back in her chair, sighing. "Okay (Y/N), what did you want to discuss?"
        "What do you think?" Rita remained quiet, though you could tell she was thinking about the other day as well. "I'd like to negotiate." She scoffed, not meeting your eyes. "I'm willing to forget your little outburst earlier if you choose to cooperate."
        "...Cooperate how?" You could tell she didn't quite believe you.
        "I'd like to make an... offer," you paused, testing her reaction.
        "An offer huh?"
        "Just hear me out." She didn't stop glaring, but she relaxed a bit. "I'm willing to offer you a big sum of money if you leave here and never some back." Rita looked genuinely surprised, but she at least looked as if she was thinking about your offer.
        "How much?"
        "As much as you need to get home and live comfortably- within reason of course."
        "Okay, you have a deal." Rita's words came to a huge shock to you. You never imagined she'd agree so easily.
        "Really?" She nodded.
        "Why not?"
        "O-ok." You stuttered, standing up. "I'll prepare a ride home for you then." Rita smiled.
        "Ok, I'll start packing." And with that, she closed the door, leaving your guards to escort you back to your room.

                                                                                                                      ~~~
        You sighed happily, leaning on Hiccup's shoulder.
        "Is she really gone?" He asked uneasily.
        "Yeah, I saw her off myself." Hiccup kissed the top of your head.
        "(Y/N), I'm so sorry. The whole thing was entirely my fault."
        "Hiccup, It's fine." You gripped his hand tighter, watching in silence as the dragon Rita was riding on grew smaller and smaller until it was no more than a tiny dot in the sky.
        "It was really easy though wasn't it?" Your head snapped up.
        "What?"
        "She gave up kind of soon didn't she?" You laid your head down again, closing you eyes.
        "I offered her a lot of money." You assured him. He nodded.
        "I'm just saying, she did a lot to get the point where she was in complete control of Berk right?" You shook your head.
        "I'm sure it's fine." Hiccup sighed.
        "Yeah, I'm just being paranoid."
        But, after a while, the nagging in the back of your head became hard to ignore. It had been really easy to send her away hadn't it? Was she really willing to give up so easily?
