Loxy was the first to emerge from the cave, breathing in the scent of the woods through her nose. No sign of anymore acid fog. "All clear," she hollered back to Bellamy and Charlotte, stepping out of the cave completely.

"Anybody out here?" Bellamy called, his wild eyes scanning the forest. "Jones!"

"We're over here!" Someone called back, and Loxy turned to see the rest of Bellamy's hunting patrol. Except for Atom.

Bellamy looked at Loxy, his expression unreadable, before he turned away and pushed through the ferns. Charlotte timidly grabbed Loxy's hand, and Loxy gave a tight squeeze in response. The two walked through the bushes together.

"Lost you in the stew," Bellamy grunted, approaching his patrol. "Where'd you go?"

"Went to a cave down there," Jones answered, pointing with his thumb. "What the hell was that?"

"Acid fog, my guess," Loxy replied, sudden grief tugging at her heart. "Where's Atom?" She could feel Charlotte's hand slipping away but ignored it.

"I don't know. Wasn't he with you guys?" Jones questioned, panic increasing in his expression.

"Yeah but he..." She trailed off, searching for the right words. "He got a little behind..."

Shrill screams crackled through the air, and Loxy immediately recognized it. "Charlotte!" She called, whirling around and racing in the direction of the scream. Bellamy was right by her side.

Loxy reached her first, placing a hand on her shoulder before seeing what Charlotte was staring at in horror. Atom was laying on the ground, countless of nasty burns with soothing puss on his body. "Bellamy..."

"Son of a bitch," he muttered, sliding down the hill to reach him. "Atom!"

Loxy whipped around and looked Charlotte in the eye. "Stay here," she said clearly before patting her shoulder again and joining Bellamy.

Pain swelled in her chest as she bent down on her knees next to Atom, across from Bellamy. His blue eyes, normally full of life, were now cloudy. The effect of the fog is making him go blind. "Kill me," he groaned in a barely audible voice over and over.

Bellamy glanced over at Loxy, agony deep in his eyes. The rest of the group had run over now, gazing at Atom in fear and despair. Charlotte approached them slowly, pulling something out of her pocket. The knife Bellamy had given her.

It gleamed under the sunlight as she passed it to him. "Don't be afraid," she reminded Bellamy, but it almost seemed like she was saying it to assure herself.

"Go back to camp," Bellamy ordered after a moment. "Charlotte, you too," After she walked away, Bellamy gazed at Loxy with an immense amount of an unfamiliar emotion. "Loxy—"

"I'm staying here. With you," she declared, bending over to run her fingers through Atom's hair. "Can you do it?"

Bellamy just sat there, gripping the knife tightly before loosening again. He repeated this over and over, his eyes darted around Atom's entire body. She could see it now. Bellamy was no murderer; he didn't want to do this.

Loxy took a deep breath before reaching out to take the knife from him, her fingers brushing over his palm. "I'm gonna help you," she said to Atom reassuringly. His clouded blue eyes were now focused only on her.

She began humming a soft tune that she couldn't remember where she learned it from. The song had stuck with her for as long as she could remember, and every time she hummed it it would always comfort her. Its spelled seemed to have the same effect on Atom, as his heavy breathing slowed down.

Loxy could feel Bellamy's eyes on her as she gradually drove the knife into Atom's neck before pulling it out again, blood pouring out like a small river of red. After placing down the blade, she put one hand on Atom's chest while the other still stroked his head.

A short moment later his staggered breathing stopped, and his cloudy blue eyes finally closed. Silence. Loxy could feel tears burning in her eyes but she resisted the urge to let them fall.

"You didn't have to do that, Red," Bellamy muttered in a gentle voice, and she flinched when she felt his hand place on top of hers.

"I had to," she sniffled, pulling away from his touch gradually. "The way you hesitated. I know you're not a killer."

"You aren't either," Bellamy whispered back, his eyes filled with so much sympathy it made Loxy's heart twinge.

"Yes I am. I killed my parents, five guards, and now Atom. I'm the real monster," Loxy mumbled, her voice cracking as she felt tears spill over. She got up on her feet and sprinted deep into the forest before Bellamy could say anything back.

Sunlight flickered through the gnarled branches as she walked on. The silence of the forest was somehow reassuring. Between the warmth and the serenity, she almost didn't feel like the monster she'd truly become.

Loxy probably stayed out there for hours, wandering around aimlessly but also making sure not to leave far from camp. Just as she decided to head back, she saw something. A shadow. A flicker through the trees. It made her skin crawl with anxiety. Grounders.

Bursting into a sprint, Loxy dashed through the forest as quietly as she could. Although she knew she could kill just about anyone before they got to her, she knew her abilities' consequences. If she used them too much, she would pass out, just like she almost did the day they landed.

Returning to camp, Loxy let out a small gasp when she realized Bellamy's crew was just getting back as well. Grief tugged at her chest as she watched two men carry Atom's covered body on a stretcher. She didn't know him personally, and he was an asshole, but he was human. And Loxy killed him.

She entered the camp silently, slipping past the crowd and heading into the dropship. Stopping, however, when she realized Octavia was rushing outside.

"About time," she said, nodding her head to Clarke. "They were gonna kill Jasper."

"They we're gonna what?" Loxy demanded, storming towards them after hearing Octavia's words.

"Did you get the medicine?" Octavia asked, ignoring Loxy.

"Yeah, I got it." Clarke answered, sounding completely worn out. She wrapped an arm around her shoulder, and Loxy knew why. It wasn't hard to see how close Octavia and Atom had grown. "Let's go talk," Clarke tried to urge her away, but failed.

Octavia ripped away from her hold and stomped past the fire and to Atom's body.

"Octavia," Bellamy pleaded, his voice sounding strong but his eyes revealing how broken he felt. Loxy wanted to reach out and hug him, but she couldn't do that. She wouldn't let herself. "Please stay back."

She fought against him, shoving past him whilst muttering, "Bell, stop it." Her hands shakingly pulled down the jacket covering up Atom, and she gasped in horror along with the entire crowd of spectators. "Atom..."

Bellamy shifted on his feet uncomfortably. "Octavia there was nothing I—"

"Don't!" She yelled with a firm voice, holding up her hand. Fighting back tears, she slowly covered him up again before rushing away, avoiding Bellamy's touch.

Pursing his lips together, Bellamy turned to Murphy, growing more serious. Loxy could hardly hear their voices from where she stood.

"Lose anyone here?" He murmured, his eyes darting around the camp wildly.

"No," Murphy responded.

"Jasper?"

"Still breathing," Murphy said with disappointment in his tone. "I tried to take him out earlier but your psycho little sister—"

"MY WHAT? MY WHAT?" Bellamy immediately shouted, grabbing Murphy and pulling him threateningly close to him.

Loxy took a step back and felt fear swell up inside her. In that short moment of time, she'd never seen Bellamy so reckless. So damaged. So furious.

"Your little sister," Murphy said while pushing himself out of Bellamy's grasp.

"Yeah, my little sister," Bellamy agreed with a growl. "Got anything else you wanna say about her?"

"Nothing, sorry," Murphy mumbled, looking away from him.

Bellamy looked at Murphy with disgust before turning away. "Get him out of here," he ordered, pointing at Atom. His eyes locked with Loxy's and his face molded into a solemn expression.

She could her own face becoming stony, and spun around to go find Wells. All she wanted right now was to be with someone who really understood her. Turns out Wells found her first.

"Hey," he greeted her in a soft voice. He placed his shovel against a tree trunk before walking over to pull her into a hug. "It was you that killed Atom, I know."

Loxy felt tears around beginning to cascade down her cheeks quietly. "I-I didn't know what to do," she whispered helplessly. She could feel herself breaking into Wells.

"Listen to me," Wells told her, grabbing her arms and pulling her away to meet gazes. "You did what was right. I can't blame you for putting him out of his misery."

"I know what I did was the best option, but I'm still going to see his face in my dreams now. I didn't even know him," Loxy buckled again, falling back into Wells's arms. After a moment she wiped away her tears and pulled away, looking up at him.

"Clarke knows the truth now," Wells admitted, his eyes sparkling at the mention of her name on his own lips.

"You told her?" He nodded. "Good. She deserves the truth."

"Which is why you need to tell her about you." Wells prompted.

"I know, but, I'm still afraid. B-Bellamy knows now. He would've found out eventually." Loxy spoke quietly, shoving her hands in the pockets of her coat.

"How much does he know? Did you tell him what you told me? About the five guards?"

"Y-Yeah," she stuttered, sniffling. "There's one thing I forgot to tell you. Remember when we landed how pale I was and how I was bleeding?"

"Yeah," Wells answered. "You said those were common side effects to...wait what did you do?"

"The drop ship was falling too fast. We would've died on impact if I didn't..."

"Holy crap, Loxy." Wells surprised her yet again with another hug. "You saved all of us."

"No I didn't. I didn't save those two kids that died in the landing, and I certainly didn't save Atom just now. He called out for us when he was caught in the fog but Bellamy didn't let me go." Loxy explained, growing mad as she relived the moment.

"As much as I hate him, I'm glad he did that. I don't want anything to happen to you. You're my best friend." Wells told her.

"And you're mine." The two hugged for one final time before parting ways. Loxy decided she would probably be best needed with Jasper.

As she climbed onto the top deck, she could see Monty, Finn, and Octavia sharing some moonshine. "Pass it over," she said whilst taking a seat next to them. Before Finn could hand it to her, a small voice aroused from the room.

"Can I, uh, get a hit of that?" Jasper moaned softly, light humor in his voice.

"Jasper!" Loxy screeched, the first on her feet and at his side.

"Let's start with the soft stuff first," Finn said calmly, helping Jasper down some water. "Welcome back."

As he swallowed, his eyes laid on Loxy's. "Hey, even though I was barely conscious last night, I still heard what you said. Thanks." He told her with a smile.

"Of course." Loxy patted his shoulder lightly. She watched as Monty grabbed hands with him, smiling the hugest smile ever since he's gotten here.

"Was that I dream or did I actually get speared?" Jasper asked, making the group laugh lightly at his joke.

"You'll have a pretty impressive scar to prove it." Clarke spoke as she walked up to him.

"My savior!"

Clarke grinned before growing serious again. "Thank you. For not dying. I don't think I could've taken that today." Clarke told him.

"Well, I'll try not to die tomorrow too if that's okay." Jasper mumbled before glancing at Octavia. "Oh, hello!" He said in delighted surprise.

Loxy smiled before deciding to try to get some sleep. She said goodnight to everyone, including Jasper, and walked briskly to her favorite spot of the camp to sleep.

Little did she know what was in store for her the next morning.
