Loxy gently placed a hand on the shoulder of Clarke, one of her only best friends. The blonde-headed girl as she placed two fingers on Jasper's neck. "His pulse is three eighty," she stressed, running a few fingers through her hair.

Jasper began to let out loud moans of pain, squirming where he lay. Loxy felt a pang of empathy for him, knowing how much pain he was in.

"Go back to sleep!" A tired delinquent screamed, while another yelled at him to be quiet.

Listening to their complaints, she bent down and began running her hand through his hair, which was drenched in sweat. "Don't listen to them. You're gonna make it through this, okay? I promise." She whispered to him.

"Why don't you get some rest, Loxy?" Clarke said, giving her a warm smile.

"Yeah, okay. But you should get some too." She replied and climbed down the ladder, giving Monty a quick nod before leaving the drop ship. The night air was crisp but warm, inviting her closer to the woods.

"No! No! No!" A girl screamed, breaking into the silence of the night.

Loxy quickly walked over to her, finding a young girl sprawled out asleep against a tree trunk. Before she could yell out anymore, she gently shook the young girl awake. She recognized her somehow. "Hey, it's okay. It's okay. It was just a dream. You're Charlotte right?"

The girl gave a timid nod, pushing herself up to a sitting position with her elbows.

"I'm Loxy. Do you want to talk about it?" She asked, sitting down next to her whilst giving her reassuring looks. When she didn't respond, she took Charlotte's hand in hers. The child looked up, her brown eyes sparkling under the starlight.

"It's okay to be afraid sometimes, Charlotte. Fear is what makes you grow stronger. The more you overcome it, the harder it will be to knock you down." Loxy whispered, leaning back against the tree trunk.

"It's...my parents." Her voice faltered slightly, causing Loxy to naturally wrap an arm around her. "They were floated and...I see it and my dreams and I..."

"I understand," Loxy murmured, looking into Charlotte's sad eyes. "My parents were both floated when I was born."

Her head slowly rose to meet Loxy's warm and welcoming gaze.

"So how'd you end up here?" She questioned, changing the subject.

Charlotte inhaled and exhaled slowly before speaking. "We were taking my parents' things. And I kinda lost it. They said I assaulted a guard."

Loxy squeezed her fingers around the girl's arm. "I can't blame you. For as long as I've been confined I've learned that those guys are complete jerks."

After a peaceful moment of silence, she lifted her head up and pointed at the sky. "See that bright star up there. That's the Ark, orbiting above us." Loxy turned around to face the child.

"Listen to me, Charlotte. Whatever happened up there, the pain, the loneliness, it's over. Anything that happened on the Ark, it stays on the Ark. Being on Earth, it's like we've been given a second chance."

Charlotte wiped her nose before looking back up to the Ark. "Do you really believe that?" Her voice was so innocent, and full of youth. It broke Loxy's heart having to answer that question.

"I'm trying to."

Loxy woke up the next morning, Charlotte still bundled under her arms. Without disturbing her, she got to her feet and began heading to the drop ship. As soon as she got there she was greeted by Wells, who looked as though he didn't get much sleep.

"Hey, Loxy." His voice was soft, and she knew why. His entire perspective on her had changed, whether he wanted it to or not. And she didn't blame him either.

"Hey." She grunted before ducking into the drop ship, heading for the ladder. "Clarke?" Loxy called as she made it to the floor. Monty and Finn sat near Jasper while Clarke tended to his wounds. "How's he doing?"

"How do you think he's doing, Loxy?" Clarke snapped, her patience clearly running low.

"Relax, she's just trying to help." Wells was quick to her defense, joining Loxy next to Jasper's legs.

"Fine." Clarke hissed, looking at the both of them with an agitated look. "You two wanna help? Hold him down for me."

Obeying, both Loxy and Wells placed their hands on his waist and legs.

"I'm not gonna like this, am I?" Monty asked as Clarke dipped a knife in a set of hot coals.

"Probably not." She uttered back as she pressed hot blade against Jasper's skin, causing him to scream in pain. As he began fidgeting, Clarke looked over at us with wide eyes. "Hold him still! I need to cut away the infected flesh."

After a few moments, Octavia burst out of the hatch, rushing up to Clarke. "Stop it!" She exclaimed, worry flooding her voice. "You're killing him."

"She's actually try to save his life," Loxy spoke up, looking up to meet the ocean blue eyes of Octavia Blake. This was the first time the two had directly spoken since they first landed.

"She can't." A familiar voice growled, Bellamy Blake appearing from the hatch as well. His eyes were on Loxy, but she refused to look at him.

She was still mad at him for what he said last night. Hell, she was furious at him for everything he's done. From the wristbands to the inspirational speeches, it was all just a scam to save himself. And Loxy knew exactly why now.

Wells exchanged glances with her before getting to his feet, looking at Bellamy with tired eyes. "Back off," he simply said. Loxy couldn't blame him. They were all exhausted from dealing with Bellamy Blake.

The two men just stared at each other, their eyes telling the story. Loxy clambered to her feet, stepping between the two of them. "We didn't drag Jasper through miles of woods just to let him die."

"Kid's a goner." Bellamy responded instantly, looking at her in a much colder, more hostile way. Clearly last night affected him as well. "If you can't see that, you're deluded. He's making people crazy."

"Well sorry is Jasper's an inconvenience to you, but down here every life matters. What you said yesterday was right. This isn't the Ark." Loxy pursed her lips together and folding her arms, feeling Wells right beside her and ready to protect her.

"Take a look at him, Red. He's a lost cause." Bellamy grumbled, narrowing his eyes and he looked back at Jasper.

"I have an idea. Instead of sitting here telling us how to murder someone why don't you go out and go hunt for some food. You'd be more useful there." Loxy snarled, looking into his eyes with hostility and refusing to move.

"Octavia I've spent my whole life watching my mother heal people," Clarke spoke up, her voice smaller and much kinder than before. "If I say there's hope, there's hope."

"This isn't about hope. This is about guts. None of you have the guts to make the right decision I do. He's been like this for three days. If he's not better by tomorrow, I'll kill him myself." Bellamy threatened, looking back and forth between Wells and Loxy before turning to head for the hatch.

"Hold up, Amy," Loxy hissed, reaching out and grabbing his arm in seconds. "You say killing Jasper is the hard decision, but it's not. It's admitting defeat. Taking the easy way out. And we wouldn't a leader who always makes the easy decisions, even if it includes killing someone." Loxy felt her grasp around his arm tighten with every word, but he didn't move.

"And another thing, before you can kill him, you'll have to kill me." Loxy called out as he stepped onto the ladder.

"Octavia, come on," he beckoned his little sister.

She stiffened, not looking over her shoulder. "I'm staying here." She decided.

"Power hungry, self-serving jackass," Monty snarled the moment he was gone. "He doesn't care about anybody but himself. No offense," he added, looking at Octavia sympathetically.

"Yeah," Finn murmured in agreement. "Bellamy is all that. But he also happens to be right."

Everyone looked up from Jasper in surprise, staring at him wildly. Loxy scoffed, shaking her head. "Why does everyone wanna give up on him?" She half-mumbled to herself.

Stepping into the fresh air, Loxy headed back to the tree she had spoken with Charlotte last night. To her dismay, all she found was her jacket she'd put over Charlotte as a blanket. Slipping on the red leather jacket, Loxy grabbed her bow and arrows and set off into the woods.

After about an hour of searching, Loxy recognized a familiar glint of light brown hair in the distance, and quickly pursued it. Charlotte was walking mindlessly around in the woods, and she seemed to not even have a weapon on her.

"Charlotte what are you doing?" Loxy whispered, aware there could be Grounders nearby.

The child jumped in surprise, landing on a twig and causing it to snap with a loud crack. Not even a second later the two flinched back as an axe's blade dug into the bark of the tree right next to them. Charlotte looked at the axe in fear while Loxy searched for its owner, groaning when she found him.

"Fancy seeing you out here, Red." Bellamy cocked an eyebrow at her, his eyes narrowing when he saw Charlotte. "Who the hell are you?" He demanded as he walked up and took his axe from the tree.

"Charlotte." She replied, and Loxy could tell she was trying her best not to look afraid.

"Yeah well I almost killed you." His voice was full of irritation.

"Can it, Amy. Let me handle this." Loxy glowered at him before turning to meet Charlotte with much softer eyes. "Why aren't you back at camp, Charlotte?"

"Well, with that guy dying and all, I just couldn't take it." She admitted sheepishly.

"It's too dangerous out here for a little girl," Atom piped up.

"I'm not little," Charlotte insisted, looking back at Atom with a fierceness Loxy wasn't expecting.

"Well, you can't hunt without a weapon." Bellamy told her, handing her a knife, a smirk on his face as he looked at Loxy. "Something wrong, Red?"

"Nope. Might as well join the hunt." She sighed as she took her bow off her, holding it at her side. "Have you ever killed something before?" Loxy asked Charlotte.

She of course shook her head no.

"Well who knows," Bellamy chuckled. "Maybe you're good at it."

Another hour passed and the group remained unsuccessful on finding anything good to hunt. The last thing they'd found was the wild boar that was ran off after hearing Bellamy's axe.

"What the hell is that?" One of the men pulling up from the rear suddenly shouted.

Loxy whirled around to see thick, yellow fog headed their way, engulfing every part of the forest in its path. "Run!" She screamed, warning the entire group as they burst into full sprints away from the fog. "Get on my back, Charlotte!"

Grunting under the added weight, Loxy carried herself and Charlotte through the woods, the only person behind her being Atom. "C'mon Atom! Keep up! There's caves over here!" She called to him.

They reached the one Bellamy was at, and Loxy immediately set Charlotte down and began running back in the direction towards Atom. "Atom!" She shouted, desperate to find him.

"Loxy, no!" Bellamy called out to her, wrapping his arms around her torso and lifting her up effortlessly.

"Bellamy let me go!" She struggling against him, watching as he carried her into the darkness of the cave and the world around her fading away.

As soon as he dropped her, she spun around and and punched him in the chest. "What the hell, Bellamy? He's gonna die out there."

"I know you think you can save everyone Red but you simply can't. That's something you have to learn." Bellamy told her, his voice surprisingly gentle, contrasting hers.

"You think I don't know that? We could've made it there in time. I could've done something—"

"Don't blame yourself, Loxy," he spoke genuinely, using her real name to get his point across.

Charlotte was already cramming herself into the corner of the cave, rocking herself back and forth. Loxy pressed against the wall and slowly fell to the ground, Bellamy joining her. "Do you still think I'm an asshole?"

"Shut up, Amy."

~

"NO!"

Bellamy and Loxy woke to a start, immediately reaching out for Charlotte. "She's having another nightmare," Loxy commented with empathy heavy in her voice.

"Charlotte, wake up," Bellamy whispered in a soft voice she didn't even know he possessed.

"I'm sorry," she was quick to apologize, looking back and forth between Bellamy and Loxy.

"Does it happen often?" Bellamy asked, sorrow in his tone as he looked at her. "What are you afraid of?"

When Charlotte didn't respond, he shook his head. "You know what? Doesn't matter. The only thing that matters is what you do about it."

"But...I'm asleep." Charlotte protested.

"Fears are fears. Slay your demons when you're awake, they won't be able to get you when you're asleep." Bellamy explained.

"Yeah, but, how?" Charlotte questioned, becoming confused.

"You can't afford to be weak. Down here, weakness is death. Fear is death." He told her, which made her eyes grow wide. "Let me see the knife I gave you." Bellamy took it from her gently, holding it up to where it glinted in the light of the cave.

"Now when you feel afraid, you hold tightly to this knife and say 'screw you, I'm not afraid'."

Charlotte took the knife back, saying it twice before Bellamy gave her an approving pat on the leg. "Slay your demons, kid. Then you'll be able to sleep."

After a long moment of silence, Bellamy propped himself up with his elbow to look at Loxy. "What about you? Have you slayed your demons?" He asked her, his eyes softer than she had ever seen them before.

"I can't. I'm my own demon." Loxy admitted, hugging her knees to her chest.

Bellamy sighed, sitting up and pressing himself closer to her. "I'm not gonna have to go through all that again, am I?" He asked, referring to his talk with Charlotte.

Loxy paused before looking him in the face. And this time she really looked at him. His dark curls, deep brown eyes, and even the freckles near his nose. That's when she realized that everything he'd ever done, no matter how dark or twisted it seemed, was only to protect someone he loved.

"You shot Jaha," Loxy deadpanned, watching his expression fall into hopelessness.

"I had to." Bellamy began, but Loxy didn't let him finish.

"No, I get it. If I had a sibling too, I would go through so much to keep them alive."

"Loxy," Bellamy whispered softly.

"What?"

"I have to know," he hesitated, "are the rumors true?" His syrup colored eyes lingered on hers, and at that point she knew she couldn't cover it anymore.

"Yeah. Ever since I was a baby I've been living in a laboratory." Loxy told him, resting her chin on her knees. "That's why I came down. I needed to escape the pain."

"Why would they run experiments on you?" Bellamy asked.

Loxy took a deep breath. "I can do things most people can't." She answered before eyeing a rock on the opposite side of the wall, slowly pushing her energy onto it.

Bellamy let out a short gasp as he watched the rock begin to float, heading over to them and dropping in his hand. "That's amazing. And it totally makes sense now. The fire, the panther."

"Glad to see you've been paying attention, Amy," she said with a half smile before laying back down. Bellamy did the same, his arm touching hers slightly.

"Oh and if you tell anyone about the truth about me just know I've killed five guards before with just one use of my brain."

"Point taken."

Silence.

"What is the coolest thing you've done with your...powers?" He asked, the word feeling weird on his tongue.

"Oh I don't know, prevent a drop ship from completely crashing into Earth's surface and killing one hundred people."

"One hundred and two. Don't forget about us."
