One- 'Not Even Friends'
~IMPORTANT~
(You'll also find this message on the first page of all of my stories)
I haven't been writing my whole life, and I am far from experienced. This being said, I do try my best to write quality pieces.
Many of my current stories ('Society's Little Miss. Middle' being the only exception) need to be re-written and edited. I joined Wattpad around two years ago... and my writing style has greatly improved since then. I have read over each story and, frankly, I'm disappointed in what I published.
They aren't well written, have many plot issues, and countless grammar mistakes.
I will be re-writing ALL of my books. Updates will be slow...but I just want to be sure that if you read my work, it's worth your time.
Thanks for understanding! Feel free (at any time) to message me with any questions, comments or suggestions!

"Can I grab this dad?!" I called over my shoulder, blowing strands of Carmel waves away from my eyes.
"Yeah, bring it in!" He yelled from the front door, walking out. I jogged up to the moving truck and picked up three boxes. They tipped to one side and I gasped, quickly moving to prevent them from falling.
" I got it!" A voice exclaimed, not in my view. My boxes felt lighter and they evened out. The smallest one was plucked off of the top and a young girl with Ray Ban glasses and blonde straight hair smiled at me. "I'll help you." She giggled.
"Thanks." I chirped, showing her where we wanted it inside.
She placed her box down and set her hands on her hips. "Phew, it's really hot." She smiled.
The girl was wearing a navy blue strapless sundress with Mickey Mouse on it, white flats and a ring. She had a small white purse hanging from her shoulder.
"Yeah." I agreed, watching her twirl the ring around her finger. "Oh, I'm Danielle by the way. But you can call me Dani." I smiled.
She held out her hand. "I'm Dakota." I shook her hand awkwardly and smiled as she fixed her glasses."I live across the street." She pointed towards a neat house with a perfectly maintained lawn.
"Cool." I smiled. "How old are you?" I asked, walking back out to the moving truck with her.
"I turned nine last month." I nodded.
"I'm Seventeen."
I grabbed another small box and she followed my actions.
"Do you have any brothers or sisters?" Dakota asked.
"Nope. I'm an only child." I shrugged, sighing. "I have a step-mom though... She's okay I guess."
She nodded gently. "Do you still see your real mom?" She asked.
I bit the inside of my mouth. "I'd rather not talk about it."
Dakota nodded. "It's alright." I caught another glimpse of her ring. It had gold and silver twists engraved into it.
"Cute dress by the way." I remarked as we went back to the truck once more.
She chuckled. "Thanks. I kinda have a disney problem... Almost everything I own is something Disney."
I smiled. She's a little different, but who cares. She seems really nice.
"I wish I had a collection. I used to collect snow globes, but I would wind up breaking them a few days after."
We both laughed at my statement.
"Danielle? Have you seen the box with my pans in it-" my stepmother stopped in the doorway as we placed our next load of boxes onto the ground. She smiled warmly.
"Dakota, this is my Stepmom Leigh. Leigh, this is Dakota. She lives across the street."
They smiled at each other. "So nice to meet you." Leigh said. She turned to me. "Dani, did you happen to see where my pans ended up? I put them in a-"
"Box with green tape? Right here on the bottom." I answered, chuckling. She swiftly bent down and began searching for a specific one.
"Hey, can I go to my 'soon-to-be' room?" I asked.
Leigh nodded. "Have fun."
"Want to head up?" I asked Dakota. She nodded. I led her up the stairs and turned down the hall. I opened the door to the room which is soon to be mine. There were larger boxes near the windows, a bed frame against the wall and a love-seat couch wrapped in clear plastic.
"So-" I walked over and pried the plastic off of my like green couch. "This is my room." I chuckled. I sat down and she sat beside me, looking around.
"I think it'll be really cool once you add in all of your furniture." Dakota smiled. I nodded. She pulled out a phone from her purse and tapped in her passcode. "My brother wants me home." She sighed.
She's nine and she has.A.phone?! What the even heck!
"Okay." I chirped, standing and opening my bedroom door for her.
"Wait, do you want to quick come over? I want to show you my collection!" She beamed. I shrugged.
"Sounds good to me, I'll just let my dad know." We headed downstairs and I jogged outback to find him adjusting where he wanted the grill to be positioned. "I'm going to be at Dakotas for a few minutes. Be back soon." I said, pointing over my shoulder. He was consumed in choosing the perfect spot and bent down to see if something was level.
"Ah-huh. Yeah, have fun." He said over his shoulder. I rolled my eyes at him and Dakota and I walked to her house.

"Hey mom! This is Dani. She just moved in across the street." Dakota smiled. Her mother looked like an exact replica of her.
"Hi, I'm Mrs.Bennette." She said warmly, holding out her hand. I shook it politely and adjusted my crop top. I felt very open standing before her and her mother. They both wore fairly conservative clothes and then there's me.... Half of my stomach was showing (including my belly-button ring....which, before you ask;doesn't need explanation.) My shorts were pretty short and my hair was up in a messy pony tail which made me look like a piece of hot trashy mess. (Just kidding. I'm far from hot.)
"Liam! Come downstairs!" Mrs. Bennette called. I heard footsteps but didn't look up the stairs as they approached. "What grade are you going into sweetie?"
"I'm going to be a Junior this year." I smiled.
"Oh! Liam is going to be a junior as well!" I looked towards the person who she was gesturing to and mentally passed out.
"Hey." He nodded, pulling out his phone and plugging in earbuds. He hadn't looked at me yet.
"Hi." I said lightly, trying not to stare at his abs. He was shirtless and wore athletic shorts.
He slipped the earbuds into his ears and took a step towards the front door before his mother stopped him.
"Eh-hem." She said impatiently. "Where do you think you're going?"
"Out for a run?" He asked in a 'well duh' tone.
"Not so fast." She smiled. "This is Danielle, introduce yourself."
He looked to me with his jaw slacked like he had just realized I was standing in his house. His eyes scanned my outfit and I folded my arms over the strip of exposed stomach.
"Oh... I'm Liam." He spoke, smirking.
I bit the inside of my mouth and let an awkward silence fill the room.
"Let's head up to my room Dani." Dakota said excitedly. I began to follow her, but an unknown hand touched my elbow gently.
"Want me to show you around?" Liam asked, using a suave tone of voice.
I stood frozen. "Uh..."
"Lee, I was showing her my collection!" Dakota whined.
"Nobody cares about your collection." He stated, rolling his eyes.
His little sister gasped. "I care!"
"I think that Dani would rather come with me." He said, looking at me.
I turned around to face Dakota who was frowning.
"How about tomorrow I come over and see your collection? I bet it's really cool. Don't listen to your brother- I care." I whispered. She broke into a wide smile.
"I actually have to get back to helping my dad unpack." I spoke to both of them. Liam nodded.
"Cool."
"Bye Dani!" Dakota called as I stepped towards the door.
"See ya!" I chirped, giving a small wave. I saw Liam smirking again at me as I closed the door... He makes me feel uneasy.
*•*•*•*•*•*•*•*•*•*•*•*•*•*
"Look what I found!" My dad exclaimed, walking out onto the front porch where I was drinking a glass of water and texting.
"What is it?" I asked, looking up from my phone.
He held up my old skateboard. "Remember when you used to ride this?!" He smiled widely, holding it out.
"Wow..." I said, taking it from him and running my fingers down the underside of the board. I flicked the wheels and they spun with ease. "Thanks dad."
"No problem." He smiled, walking back into the house. I stared at my board for a few more minutes before tucking my phone into my pocket and walking to the driveway. I set it down on the pavement and rolled it back and forth with my foot. I took an intake of breath and prepared to move. I pushed off with my right foot as my left stayed planted. My body started off down the expanse of our driveway easily and I pushed again, this time shifting my foot placement and body weight so I would turn. Instead of turning, the board stayed on the same straight path. I let out a small shriek and jumped off before I hit the curb.
I let out a frustrated breath and set my footing again. I pushed off and tried to turn in a circle... Nope! I jumped off again and my board flipped over. I ran a hand through my hair.
You got this Dani, it's just like a few years-
"Instead of moving your feet, just tilt your body." A voice spoke. I did a small jump and looked at Liam with wide eyes. "If you move your feet, chances are- you're going to become off balanced." He shrugged, bending over to pick up my board. He placed it right side up and took a step back.
"You've had experience with skateboards?"
"Eh, a little." He shrugged. He swiftly got onto my board, pushed off and jumped straight up. The board did a perfect three-sixty flip and fell neatly under his feet when he landed.
I stared at him with wide eyes and he kicked the board up into his hand while smirking. "You... That...only a little experience you say?!" I gasped, running a hand through my hair. I couldn't help a smile forming onto my lips.
He shrugged and smiled back, placing it by my feet. "Your turn."
"Uh, how about- are you insane?!" I exclaimed, shaking my head.
"Ah, c'mon! It's not that hard." He chuckled. "Okay fine, Just start small. Show me that you can ride down to the the third mailbox. I'll walk beside you."
I gave him an uneasy look. "I'm not gonna do anything! Just gonna watch." He chuckled.
"Alright." I sighed, pushing off. I wobbled a bit in the first couple feet, then hit a rock. I shrieked and sprung forward. Strong arms caught my waist and I was placed back onto the ground.
"Thank you." I gasped.
"No problem, babe." He winked, smiling.
He reminded me of one of my classmates back in Maryland. His name was Tyler and he was quite the character. He was really cocky and thought that he was the coolest thing since sliced bread- same with Liam.
He nudged my arm. "What, Not gonna tell me the usual? Where's the 'don't call me that'?!" He teased.
"I could care less what you call me." I chuckled. "Names don't bother me."
He nodded slowly. "Huh, you're different then most girls." He said lightly, almost to himself.
"How?" I chuckled, raising an eyebrow.
"Nothin." He chuckled, placing my board at my feet again. "Practice makes perfect."
I sighed with a smile and tried again, finding myself reach out and take his hand as I rode down the street.
"Now try turning." Liam smiled. He moved his hands to my waist as the board took a sharp turn. I tensed my stomach, but didn't say anything.
"Liam?! What the hell?!" A high voice shrilled. Liam practically pushed me away and I stumbled to the ground with a shriek. I grimaced and sat up, rubbing my now bleeding knee and watching what was unfolding.
"Who is that girl?!" The brunette snapped, her curls bouncing with each dramatic head bob.
"She just moved in Kelsey, I was showing her how to ride a skateboard." He shrugged, running a hand through his hair.
"You're my boyfriend. Start acting like it and stop flirting with every effing girl you see." She fumed, throwing her perfectly manicured nails into the air for emphasis.
"Calm down." He huffed, rolling his eyes.
"You're an effing flirt with every..." She looked at me with distaste. "Repelling teenaged girl you see."
"Uh, excuse me." I spoke, standing and brushing off my shorts. "Now that I've been thrown off my board and insulted- I just wanted to say something." I blew a piece of hair out of my face. "This 'repelling teenage girl' has a name. I'm Dani and I would say that it's nice to meet you but... You seem very rude."
I bit my lip and watched anger flash in her eyes. I picked up my board and started walking to my house. I heard their arguments behind me... Or at least what I thought was an argument.
*•*•*•*•*•*•*•*•*•*•*•*
I looked through my window to see Liam pinning Kelsey against his wall and kissing her. I gagged and drew my curtains closed quickly. I shuddered and walked to my bed, fixing the comforter that was just unpacked.
"Night Dani." My dad smiled, walking into my room and kissing my forehead. I gave him a hug and told him to sleep well. He walked out briefly after and left me alone.
My phone rang and I picked it up in a heartbeat.
"Hello?"
"HOW IS IT?! TELL ME EVERYTHING!" My best friend shrieked. I chuckled and flopped back onto my bed.
"It's interesting here... My neighbor-"
"It's a cute guy isn't it!" She gasped.
"Nina! Shush!" I laughed.
"IT IS!!! I KNEW IT!" She exclaimed. I rolled my eyes.
"Okay, so he's pretty cute. But there's a problem..."
"Aw! Girl, spill it all. Talk tah Nina."
I chuckled lightly. "So we were hanging out, okay?"
"Uh-huh." She chirped.
"So he was teaching me how to ride a skateboard again... So he had his hands on my waist and uh... Then I found out that he has a girlfriend. Let me just tell you- she is not polite at all. She must be a spawn of satan." I joked, making both of us laugh. "Anyway, so now they are having sex by the looks of it."
"Eewwwwww!!!" Nina cried. "They're freaking doing the dirty deed with opened blinds?!" She sounded mortified.
"I know! Think of how I feel." I grimaced and stuck my tongue out even though she couldn't see me.
"Well, who needs him anyway." She chuckled. "You're gonna find a bunch of cute guys. you are in California! It's packed full of hot surfer guys!" She sighed dreamily.
I chuckled lightly.
"Are they still... At it?" She choked.
I scoffed. "Ew." I got up, just for Nina and cracked open my curtains. I peeked through carefully, not sure of what I may see.
"What do you see?!" Nina exclaimed.
"Shhhh! They're talking." I whispered. I squinted to get a closer look. They were... Fighting again?
Kelsey glared at him and pushed at his chest- which didn't do anything.
I couldn't hear them, but she looked to be yelling at him.
He shook his head and angrily pointed to the door. He was yelling also and started moving her towards the door. She looked outraged and shook off his grip. He ran a hand through his hair and spoke again. I understood why he was so anxious for her to get out, a car was pulling into their driveway....
She bursted into tears and he ushered her out of his room. They both disappeared from my view, but a few seconds later, she emerged from the side door- out of view from the car and his family.
I cracked my window open.
"I hate you." She whimpered softly, covering her eyes and crying quietly.
"Shut up, will you?! They'll hear!" Liam snapped in a quiet tone.
"I don't care anymore! I'm done with-"
"I'll see you later." He kissed her briefly and took steps away.
She stared at him with a look of disbelief. "Bye." She whispered. He winked and bolted towards the back door.
"Bleh." I gagged into the phone, shutting the window and pulling my curtain shut.
"That's disgusting." Nina grumbled.
"Yeah." I sighed, shaking my head. "I think I'm gonna get to bed, talk to you tomorrow."
"You got it Dani, Night!"
"Night." I smiled, ending the call. I plugged in my iPhone, jumped into my bed and almost instantly fell asleep.
*•*•*•*•*•*•*•*•*•*•*•*•*•*•*•*•*
"So, Your dad and I were gonna run to the local appliance store and pick up a few things. We need a toaster, coffee maker, stuff like that." Leigh shrugged, smiling.
My dad smiled back at her in an affectionate way. I was glad that he was happy.
"Yeah, sounds good. I'll be here." I chuckled.
My dad shifted in his seat. "That's the thing Dani. Not that we don't trust you- which we completely do- but you're going to stay with the Bennettes' today. They offered to even show you around and so we told them that you'd love to and-"
"I don't even know who they are..." I exclaimed, creasing my eyebrows. "You're going to trust some strangers?"
"Dani-"
"Please." I spoke carefully. "Can I just stay here? I'll unpack and decorate."
"I thought You were getting along with their daughter?" Leigh asked.
I thought for a moment. "You mean Dakota?"
"Yes, that's who you'll be with... Except I think her mother said that Dakota had a party to attend today. Mrs.Bennette said that her son would show you around."
I looked at my step-mom for a moment. Please no... No, no, no.
"But I-"
"Dani, it's just for a few hours." My dad sighed. "Just work with me here."
I hesitated. He's trying his best, just agree with it.
"Alright." I sighed. I got up from the kitchen table and walked towards the stairs. "I'm gonna get ready."
I pulled on a white tank top, maroon shorts, slipped on a long necklace, braided my hair and pulled it up with a hair tie, slid on gray flip flops and my sunglasses.
I quickly texted Nina.
Me:
Have to be with Liam while my dad goes out. kill me now. 😐
I jogged down the stairs and went towards the door. "Bye I guess." I called. Nothing but silence was heard...
I glanced out the window and my step-mom waved as they pulled out.
"Really?" I scoffed, shaking my head and opening the door as they drove off. I unlocked my phone to read Nina's response.
Nina:
Have fun😂 y r u hanging with your boyfriend? Couple time?😂😂💗
I mentally threw up.
Me:
Ew. Just ew. My dad doesn't trust me to be by myself and Liam's gonna show me around
Nina:
Ah, u know its true. And AWWW HE'S SHOWING YOU AROUND?!?! he's so gonna make a move on u. Watch ur back
Me:
Idk y I talk to u😂
Nina:
Cuz u LOVE ME!!!!😂😘
Me:
😂😂😂
I looked up from my phone and sighed, closing my front door behind me. I started off to the neighbors house; images of the other night flashing through my mind.
The door opened before I even got to the porch.
"Dani!" Dakota exclaimed, rushing out and throwing her arms around me.
"Hey." I chuckled, hugging her back. We both stepped apart. "I hear you have a party to go to?" I smiled, tucking my phone into my back pocket.
"Mmhmm!" She beamed. "We're bowling." I saw the excitement in her eyes.
"Have fun." I smiled. Her smile faultered.
"Wait. But I can't play with you." She frowned. "Sorry that you have to go home now."
I shook my head with a sigh. "As much as I'd love to be sleeping right now... Liam is going to show me around."
"My brother? Offered to show you around?! Wow... He must really like you." I creased my eyebrows. "Please replace Kelsey! Please, Please, Please Dani! She's so mean and she broke my favorite necklace!" She pouted, holding onto my arm and giving me a pleading look.
"I'm not 'replacing' anyone. Your brother and me; we're not even friends-"
"Ready to go?" Liam spoke with a smirk, poking both of my sides at once. I let out a small gasp at his action.
Dakota placed a hand on her hip and gave me a 'doesn't look like you're not friends' glance.
I pushed Liam's hands away in a flash and fixed my shirt.
"C'mon. I started the car." He shook his head with a smirk, gesturing to outside.
Dakota gave me a quick hug. "Bye Dani!"
She trudged over to her brother and I let out a small laugh. She punched him in the gut, not hard enough to do any damage; but hard enough to make him grimace lightly.
"Treat Dani right, you big oaf." She huffed, spinning on the heels of her feet and strutting around the corner. I suppressed my laughter and bit my bottom lip.
"Not funny." He chuckled, sending me a teasing glare. I walked past him and went out of the door.
"Your sister is cute." I smiled, sliding into the passenger seat.
"Nah, more like a pain in the ass." He scoffed, shutting his door and pulling out. "So um... About yesterday... Sorry about that." He said, clearing his throat.
"It's fine. Back home I had to deal with all types of rude people- no offense to your girlfriend."
He sighed. "I wish I could just dump her."
I creased my eyebrows. "Well, why don't you?"
He changed his grip on the steering wheel. "Everyone wants us together. And she's extremely clingy... Any girl I talk to is in for it."
I bit my lip. He noticed my tension.
"But don't worry!" He said quickly, shaking his head. "I made it clear to her last night that you were nice. I also told her to leave you alone, so you're good." He gave me a light smile.
I gave him a half smile, but my heart wasn't in it.
"So, I was thinking that we could go to my favorite ice cream shop?"
I absolutely LOVE ice cream, but how about we send him on a loop...
"Liam, I... Uh..." I tried my best to look disappointed.
"You're gonna tell me that you're lactose intolerant, right?!" He exclaimed.
I bit my lip. He let out a huff of air.
"This screws up all of my plans!" He exclaimed. He cursed, slamming his hands onto the wheel. He slowed the car down, but looked pissed as he stopped at a red light. "Ugh." He muttered, running a hand through his hair.
Okay, enough torture.
"I'm joking with you." I said softly, breaking into a smile. "What person doesn't like ice cream?!?!" I giggled, seeing his face light up.
"Bitch." He scoffed, giving me a teasing eye-roll.
"Hey. Watch your language."
He shook his head and pulled into a cute ice cream parlor.
*•*•*•*•*•*•*•*•*•*•*
"Liam! Didn't know you'd be here bro!" Someone exclaimed. Liam stood and did a 'bro-shake' with them. I glanced at the guy with interest. He had a nice build, muscular, brown hair, brown eyes, a muscle T-shirt...
"Not going to introduce me to your friend?" The guy joked. Liam chuckled.
"Oh, right." He turned to me and gestured for me to stand. I did so and stood next to him. "This is Danielle. Dani, this is Parker."
Parker smiled. "Hey."
"Hi." I said calmly, smiling.
Liam touched my arm. "I'm gonna head to the bathroom, be back in a sec."
"Okay." I chirped, watching him walk to the back of the shop.
"Pretty name." Parker said, taking a seat. I slid into the chair across from him.
"Thanks. Cool shades." I smiled, moving my hair to hang over one shoulder.
"Thanks." He chuckled, taking them off of his head. "They'd look good on you." He remarked, raising both of his eyebrows and holding them out to me.
I gave him a chuckle and took the shades to slip over my eyes. I made a weird face and didn't see the phone he was holding up.
"Did... Did you just take a picture of me?" I asked, looking over the top of his shades.
He shrugged. "It's for your contact picture. All I need is a number." He smirked. His smirk wasn't as arrogant as Liam's. Parker's had a more gentle and caring look to it.
"Ohhh, I see what you did there." I giggled lightly, taking off his sunglasses and placing them neatly onto the table.
"I'm incomplete without you..." He said dramatically with a smile. "-in my contact list." He added a moment after, smirking. I felt my cheeks heat a small amount.
I told him my number and he typed it in. "So where are you from?" He asked, leaning his elbows onto the table.
"Maryland." I chirped.
"Cool. I have family that lives there." He nodded with a smile.
I took a scoop of my mint-chocolate-chip Ice cream and ate it.
"Do you wanna come with me to a festival this weekend?" He asked.
"What kind of festival?" I asked, taking another bite.
"Like a carnival. It'll be fun." He smiled.
I may meet more people, who knows.
"Sure, sounds good." I nodded, blushing lightly.
"So you and Liam aren't a couple right?" He asked in a low tone.
My eyes went wide. "No, no! Kelsey is his girlfriend." I shook my head quickly. Parker chuckled at my urgency.
"Alright, cool." He smiled.
Liam walked up to us and took a seat. "Getting along?" He asked.
"As a matter of fact, we're hanging out this weekend." Parker smirked, pulling out his phone and typing. Liam creased his eyebrows.
"On a date?"
Parker glanced up at me and smiled. "Nah; as friends."
Liam went silent which freaked me out. He kept clenching his jaw and biting his lip.
A few minutes passed when he stood up and grabbed my arm. "Time to go." A moment passed. "... other places to show you." He said, no gentle tone used. I winced and stood, trying to shake his grip.
"Liam, you're- you're hurting me." I whispered, trying to pull my arm away from him. Liam instantly dropped his grip and looked at me with a soft expression.
"Hey, I'll text you tonight." Parker winked. I blushed lightly and looked back at Liam. Now his face was plastered with a hard look again.
"Let's go." He shook his head, walking out with a fast pace.
He slammed his car door shut and with hesitancy I climbed into the passenger seat. As soon as my door was shut, he pulled out. His knuckles gripped the steering wheel tightly and the tops of his joints were turning white.
"He's bad news Dani." He said to break the silence.
"He seemed really nice..." I said, becoming confused.
"No." Liam shook his head. "He's a player..He'll hurt you in an instant." After a second, he added another thought. "Do you even know what people like him do at carnivals?" He asked, clenching his jaw.
"Uh..go on rides, eat, play games?" I said with an eyebrow raised.
"Drugs, Dani."
I stayed quiet. "He didn't seem like the type of person to-"
"Well he does, okay?! Now stop asking questions. You're not going with him to the carnival."
"Hold up." I said, creasing my eyebrows. "I just met you, and you're telling me I can't do something?"
"I'm making sure you don't freaking get hurt." He said, giving me a frustrated look.
"You don't even know me! And Have you actually seen him doing drugs?" I asked, watching his expression.
"No, but-"
"It's a rumor. No 'buts' Liam, I can handle myself." I said, letting out a sigh.
"It's gonna be my problem if something were to happen Dani!" He exclaimed, shaking his head.
"My actions are my problems." I said, shocked that he was even saying what he was.
"You're impossible!" He huffed, running a hand through his hair. My phone buzzed.
Unknown: hey it's Parker. Liam looked pissed. Everything okay?
I added his contact to my phone and texted him back.
Me: he's so paranoid. how do you put up with him?!
Parker: he comes around. Just give him time.
Liam scoffed, plucking my phone from my hands and pulling into a parking lot outside of a park.
"Hey, give that back!" I said with creased eyebrows, trying to snatch it. Just as my hand reached for my phone, he got out of the car and shut the door. I un-buckled quickly and got out. "Liam! That's mine." I complained, watching him shake his head.
If I was texting Parker... My phone is unlocked and he can get into everything...
"Don't get involved with Parker, Dani." He said, taking steps back as I stepped towards him.
"Seriously, this isn't funny." I said, continuing to walk towards him.
He shrugged. I heard my ringtone go off... No...
"Who's Ca-" I bolted forward.
He was ready. He broke into a sprint and went off down the trail.
"Who's Calvin?!" Liam called over his shoulder. I ran faster. Now I'm close. "I'm answering!"
"No you aren't!!" I exclaimed, jumping. I landed on his back and held on tightly as he slowed down. "Give-it!" I complained, reaching across his body and trying to grab my phone with both hands.
"This guy keeps callingggg!" Liam teased, holding it out of my reach. Before I could do anything, Lee pressed the 'answer' button.
"Yes?" Liam called, so that Calvin could hear.
I froze and instantly stopped trying to attack Liam. I let my arms fall neatly crossed around his neck as I listened to calvin's voice.
"Who is this?"
"The name's Liam. Who are you?"
"Calvin. Is Dani there?"
"No-"
I snatched it out of his hands and placed it to my ear while switching the 'speaker' off.
"Hey." I said in a quiet tone.
"Hey dani." Calvin said on the other line. "How are you? Is everything going good over there?"
"Yeah, everything is fine. I'm almost done unpacking my room, so I guess that's a bonus... How've you been?"
"Everyone's excited to see you." He chuckled.
"That's sweet." I smiled lightly.
"Let me talk to this guy." Liam chuckled, taking my phone. I was close enough to his ear to hear was Calvin was saying. "Hey." Liam said, moving one hand to hold onto my thigh.
"Are you guys a couple or something." Calvin said using a weird tone. My eyes went wide.
"I was gonna ask you the same thing." Liam said with a suave tone of voice.
"You got it all wrong dude." Calvin chuckled. "She's my cousin."
Liam went a light red. "Right, yeah. I knew that." He stuttered. I held back my laugh.
"So are you two together?"
"No, I have a girlfriend."
"Then explain why my cousin is on your back and your hand is somewhere where it isn't needed."
My eyes went wide and I looked around. I saw a tall guy with dirty blonde hair, leaning against a tree. I gasped and Liam set me down. I bolted to Calvin and threw my arms around him.
"I missed you!" I exclaimed, smiling. I felt him chuckle and he hugged me back. My cousin was twenty two years old. Although five years older than me, he and I were extremely close as children. When his girlfriend had become pregnant, they moved here last year.
"Where's Sam-"
"Dani, so good to see you!" A sweet voice gasped. I beamed and hugged his girlfriend.
I gasped and smiled at the baby boy in her arms. "Hi jackie" I said in a small voice. I lifted him from her arms and swung him gently in the air. "You've gotten so big! How old is he now?"
Sam smiled and laughed. "He's ten months old."
I glanced at Liam. "Oh, right!" I shifted my baby cousin to sit on my hip. "Calvin and Sam, This is Liam. Liam this is my cousin Calvin, his girlfriend Sam and their baby boy Jackson."
"Nice to meet you." Sam smiled, shaking his hand. Calvin shook his hand as well. I played with baby Jackson while the guys talked. I caught a glimpse of Liam nodding to something Calvin said. I was consumed by jacksons cuteness to acknowledge anyone.
"There's a whole other part of town to show you." Liam chuckled, raising an eyebrow as I made faces at Jackson.
"Who's a big boy?! Who is?!" I chuckled, tickling his stomach.
How cute can one child be?!?!
"Dani."
I chuckled when Jackson laughed and I tickled him again.
"Hey, weirdo. Your parents told me to take you home by five. It's three right now."
I looked up, just realizing that he was talking to me. I chuckled "alright." And handed Jackson back to his mom. I gave everyone a hug and said that we were definitely getting together sometime soon.
"Aw, of course hun'!" Sam exclaimed, hugging me again.
"I love your bracelet by the way it's so adorable!"
"Thank you, I got it in a small shop back in Maryland."
"Which one?!" I gasped. Sam was about to speak when Liam picked me up by my waist and hoisted me onto his shoulder.
"Time to go." He chuckled. I held onto him tightly with my left hand and waved with my right.
"Bye!" I giggled as he walked down the path.
Calvin shook his head with a smile and walked the opposite direction with his family.
He continued walking and I decided that I liked being carried. It's the lazy-dream.
"Now you can be set down." Liam smirked, moving me slightly.
"Aw!" I complained, holding onto his neck. He had moved me to a bridal position now.
"You want me to carry you?" He chuckled, raising an eyebrow.
"My legs are tired." I huffed, leaning my head on his chest.
"poor you." He said in a sarcastic tone.
I ignored him and closed my eyes. "Don't fall asleep on me Dani."
"Too late." I whispered.
