TRIGGER WARNING : talks about suicide

Virgil POV
"What do you mean Wylan's run away to kill himself?!" I yelled, my entire body filling with anxiety.

"He left a note," Patton cried, shoving it into Roman's hands. Roman held it up, letting the both of us read it.

To who it may concern,
I'm running away. I don't know if I'll kill my self yet. I know that there is no way to die. I can't die. But I can disappear. I can run away to a place any of you guys can't find me. I'll fall asleep and I'll stay that way. Let me disappear. I have nothing to live for without Draven. I thought revenge would be something I would be able to accomplish. But I can't. I just can't do it anymore. I'm tired. I hurt. I am damaged. I don't want to do this anymore. Just. Leave. Me. Alone.
~ Wylan

"Where did he go?" Roman asked, looking back up at Patton.

"We don't know," Patton sobbed. "Quinn thought he might be in the Pit but he wasn't."

"He could be anywhere," I said, standing up. "The mindscape is huge!" I ran a hand through my messy hair.

"Logan's trying to map where Wylan might have run off to but no one knows," Patton told us.

"Could he be in the trait complex? Maybe like his old house?" Roman asked.

"Remy and Emile are checking that right now," Patton said. "C'mon."

We followed him out of my room and down the hallway. Everyone was in the living room.

Logan was pouring over old books with Deceit at his side. Quinn sat on the couch with a worried expression. Remus sat at the other end of the couch, Evan in his lap. Evan seemed to have recovered a bit from what almost happened to him but he's as silent now as he was when he was mute.

Roman was about to say something when Remy and Emile showed back up. They didn't look too happy.

"Not there," Emile said. "Not his house, not anywhere out there. Not even his old house."

"Where the hell is he then?" Roman asked.

"The Imagination?" Deceit suggested.

"It would just be a white field. It won't do anything unless Roman or I are there," Remus said.

"It's still a small chance," Logan argued. "Though I don't think it's one he would take."

"Is he with Thomas?" Patton suggested.

"If he wanted to disappear, he wouldn't go there," Deceit said with a sigh.

"Draven would know," Quinn whispered. We were all insanely downfallen. Draven would know. But he's rotting underground in a casket.

"We need to find him," Patton sighed. "Even if he isn't actively trying to kill himself, we can't just let him disappear somewhere in Thomas's mind. We need him."

"Dark mind palace?" Remus suggested.

"Why would be go there?" Logan asked. "He doesn't seem to keen on wanting to be around Corruption."

We were all silent again. Nobody had any clue where he could be. He was gone and no one knew were he went.

"I have an idea," Quinn mumbled, resting his head on his knees. "He could be in the subconscious."

"Why on earth would anyone go there?" Logan sighed. "There's literally nothing there."

"Exactly," Quinn whispered, for some reason really sad looking all the sudden.

"Why do you think he'd be there?" Logan asked. Quinn didn't want to answer that, he just shook his head.

"That's where I went," He whispered. Everyone quickly realized what he meant. He went to the subconscious when he tried to kill himself. Deceit sat down next to Quinn in the couch and tried to comfort him.

"It's a good idea," I said. "We at least have to check."

"Fine," Logan sighed.

We all stood up and left the house. It was unanimous and I think we were all guessing Wylan would be there. It made the most sense.

It was a long journey to the subconscious. It's far outside the trait complex, deep in the recesses of Thomas's brain. No one ever really goes there. There's no reason to.

The trait complex looked ahead of us. I couldn't help but look around for Wylan, hoping to catch sign of him or hear the sound of his gears or the crackle of lightening.

It was slightly disconcerting to see that there was no storm above either. Wylan always ends up creating lightning storms whenever he's in emotional turmoil. Which is often.

But there was no storm. Everything was completely calm. No storm. No lightening. Nothing.

We entered the subconscious. Everything instantly turned monochrome. Like an old black and white movie. Hell we were even just shades of black and white to each other.

"This place is creepy," Patton said, his voice echoing like crazy.

"No shit," Remy breathed. There was literally nothing out here. Flat gound, monochrome, no sign of life.

"What does the subconscious even do?" Roman asked.

"It's the part of Thomas's mind that is always awake. It contains what makes him well, Thomas. It creates dreams for him and what is still working at night.  This place controls automatic movements and allow Thomas to move.  This place drives Thomas's behavior."  Logan explained.  "Not much is known about the subconscious."

"Well that's helpful,"  Remus sighed.  "Wait so does what we do here affect how Thomas asks in the real world?"

"No that's not how it works,"  Logan sighed.  "It's like learning to ride a bike or a steps to a dance.  This is where it gets stored.  Muscle memory of sorts."

"Still confusing,"  Remus mumbled.

"Well that's just cause you're stupid,"  Snickered Roman.

"Do you wants to fucking go Roman?!"  Remus screamed, his voice echoing.

"Lets go bro!"  Roman yelled.

"Shut up!"  I whisper yelled.  I pointed ahead of me to where Quinn had frozen up and was just staring.

There was a shape up ahead.  Just a lump laying unmoving in the ground.  But there was a familiar key sticking out of it.
