TRIGGER WARNINGS :
Roman POV
"Where do we even have room to practice lightening?" Logan asked. "Lightening is extremely destructive."
"Well we need to learn somehow," Wylan mumbled. "And I need practice."
"We can't exactly destroy the mindscape," Virgil reminded us. "Is it necessary that someone else learns?"
"I can't do it," Wylan mumbled.
"Why don't we just make something in the imagination?" Remus suggested.
I let out a gasp and sat up a bit, dislodging Virgil who was laying against my shoulder.
"We could build a coliseum," I said excitedly.
"And we can fight and battle and train there," Remus added with a sadistic grin.
"You do realize that besides you two and Wylan," Logan said, pointing at Remus and I. "No one else here fights."
"Maybe that's something we should learn," Remy suggested, flipping down his sunglasses. "We could fuck up glitchy mcbitch even better."
Wylan bit his lip, obviously fighting internally with himself again. He tends to do that a lot now.
"So you could teach me in the imagination?" Virgil asked Wylan.
"Yes," Mumbled Wylan. "But learning lightening takes a long time and a lot out of you. So we'll have to speed up your training which won't be good. And I will not teach brain lightening-"
"Woah why not?" I asked, cutting him off. "Isn't that thing that kills?"
"Exactly!" Wylan yelled, but quickly calming down. "You have no fucking clue what killing someone does to you. It's horrible. Brain lightening is a horrible thing. No one deserves to go through that."
"How painful is it?" Patton asked. Tears started falling down Wylan's cheeks.
"Bad," Wylan mumbled. "It doesn't always kill. You can use it to control people. Shut down their senses."
"Was this something Corruption did to you?" Emile asked gently. Wylan just nodded.
"How does brain lightening work?" Logan asked.
"Everyone is controlled by lightening. There's little sparks in your mind that can be taken over. From there, well, the person in charge can basically do whatever they want." Wylan whispered, now curled back up in his corner.
"Interesting," Logan mumbled, looking deep in thought.
"Can you do brain lightening on someone?" Remus asked excitedly, getting up in Wylan's face.
"Um, yes," Wylan mumbled.
"Do it on me!" Remus yelled with a excitedly sadistic grin.
"No!" Wylan yelled with a look of pure terror. Evan quickly reined Remus back in, pulling him down to the floor and setting himself in Remus's lap.
"Okay, lets all calm down," Patton said, using his Dad voice. He stood up. We all quieted down quickly.
"Let's just go the Imagination and figure this lighting out," Roman said, also standing up now.
~~~magical time skip~~~
"Would here be good?" I asked, stopping towards the middle of the empty white field.
"Yeah," Wylan mumbled.
"I'm excited to get to see someone wield lightening," Thomas said, an excited grin on his face. "It's gonna be like Avatar."
"Oh my goodness you're right!" Emile squealed. "I never noticed that!"
"And you call yourself a fan," I laughed in a joking manner.
"Hey!" Remy yelled, rounding on me. "Be nice to him."
I just sighed and rolled his My. Remus walked over next to me. We whispered a bit to each other.
Then the ground started shaking. All around us, stone walls started rising up. Within seconds we were standing in something that looked just like the Roman Colosseum.
"This place is cool," Virgil breathed.
"It's an exact replica," Logan whispered to himself, spinning around to look at the coliseum.
"Nerd," Remy snickered.
"So what else?" I asked, turning to Wylan.
"Everyone might want to get up in the stands. I'll put up a shield but lightening can still be fickle." He answered. "Also the ground can't be sand. Sand doesn't conduct lightening and if we have only days to train, then it needs to be as easy as possible".
I nodded and a chunk of stone lifted up, carrying everyone but Virgil and Wylan. We moved into the stands, the stone slab turning in the seats. Slowly, the sand drained away to leave just a stone floor.
I sat down in the front, anxiously watching. Logan sat to my left, Patton next to him. Thomas was on my other side, excitement on his face. Evan was to Thomas's right, Remus had an arm wrapped around his shoulders. Remy and Emile sat behind us next to Deceit and Quinn.
"Sit down," Wylan said to Virgil, pointing to a bench at the edge of the floor. "I need to warm up."
Virgil sat down on the bench, briefly shooting me a confused glance. I just shrugged.
Wylan shedded his skirt, tossing it to the edge of the clearing. It left him in just his leotard and ballet slippers.
Then he starts stretching. Bending in ways a normal person wouldn't have been able to. Then he raised his arms and only then did I become aware of the huge thunderstorm that had gathered above us.
It flashed a bit with blue-grey lightening before three large bolts came down and landed around Wylan.
Wylan started moving around, throwing bolts everywhere. Bits of rock flared a bit before exploding into dust as the bolts hit them. Then he stated throwing up shields and making large webs of lightening.
But then the most beautiful but crazy thing happened. All at once, thousands of blue-grey lightening bolts erupted from the sky. They landed all around Wylan while he stood unaffected in the middle.
Wylan then waved his arms and all the lightening disappeared at once. He beckoned Virgil forward, who walked over slowly. Obviously wary after that.
"I would loose the hoodie," Wylan told him. "If this goes well today, that will burn if you were to wear it."
"Okay," Virgil mumbled, very slowly pulling off his hoodie and discarding it next to Wylan's shirt.
I've seen Virgil when his arms are exposed. They're bony and thin, covered in too many self harm scars to count. Thankfully he was wearing long sleeves.
Wylan did frown at that but didn't say anything. Then he sat down on the floor.
"Sit," Wylan said, motioning Virgil to sit on the floor. Virgil sat down slowly, obviously excited but nervous.
"Now what?" Virgil asked.
"We sit." Wylan answered, closing his eyes. "And wait."
"We don't have time to wait," Virgil argued. Wylan flicked a spark at him, making Virgil flinch.
"Shush," Wylan whispered. "You have to calm down. You have to find the lightening yourself."
Virgil just sat there, but slowly, lightening started webbing out of Wylan's skin. Forming into balls of lightening and floating around him.
"Do you feel anything?" Wylan asked.
"Nope," Virgil sighed.
"Plan B," Wylan said, popping back up.
Then he threw a spark at Virgil. Virgil yelped and flinched away from the spark.
Wylan continued to pelt small balls of lightening at Virgil. He scrambled around the arena, dodging all the sparks with wide eyes.
A large bolt hit Virgil straight in the chest, slamming him into the wall behind him. I jumped upwards, ready to go down there and fight Wylan but Patton grabbed me.
Virgil struggled up slowly. He held his chest where he was hit. Virgil looked terrified but also angry.
"Weak," Wylan hissed. "Look at you, can't even protect yourself."
"What?" Virgil gasped out.
"You're too stupid to even control something as simple as lightening," Wylan said lowly. "Weak. Stupid."
"I'm not!" Virgil yelled, borderline upset and angry.
"You are stupid and worthless and absolutely nothing!" Wylan screamed, throwing a huge bolt at Virgil.
"Stop!" Virgil yelled, ducking down to dodge the bolt.
"All you do us hurt the others!" Wylan yelled. "They don't love you! They don't care! Roman doesn't love you!"
"You're lying," Virgil hissed out.
Wylan threw more sparks, aiming at Virgil again. He dodged just in time. Virgil was obviously tiring.
"Corruption was right! You are weak and stupid!" Wylan yelled, a huge bolt growing in his hands.
"He wasn't," Virgil whispered, obviously breaking.
"You! Are! The! Bad! Guy!" Wylan screamed, throwing the huge bolt at Virgil. But Virgil snapped, anger filling him.
"I'm not!" Virgil screamed, throwing up his arms. Purple bolts shielded Virgil from Wylan's attack and then a huge purple bolt erupted from Virgil and slammed into Wylan.
With a cry, Wylan went flying into the stone wall. Virgil instantly dropped his hand out of fear.
Wylan stood up easily, barely affected by the lightening. He had a smile on his face. Virgil stated down at his hands in shock. As did the rest of us.
Little purple sparks webbed their way all across Virgil's hand.
