Forty One

A/N —— I AM SO SO SO SORRY that I haven't updated in like forever, I've been really sick for like the past five days.  Like seriously I've been laying on the couch feeling like death.  So obviously I haven't been able to write.  I'm mostly better now so hopefully I can return back to the regular uploading schedule.

Deceit POV

Virgil was trembling in my arms. It made me wonder what Remus and Ignorance had done to him in the past month to make him so utterly terrified of them.

"Did you two really think that we wouldn't notice you trying to escape?" Asked Remus with a laugh. "How stupid do you think we are?"

"Very stupid." I hissed at him.

"Alrighty snake," Said Remus. "Since you decided to betray us, I guess your gonna have to suffer too."

I laughed at that.

"Yeah, because you two are definitely going to be able stop me." I said slowly starting to smirk.

I tightened my grip on Virgil and started heading towards the portal. Remus glared and me and raised his mace to hit me.

He swung at me, but I ducked in time.  Ignorance grabbed me from behind, pulling on my cape, causing me to fall backwards onto the ground.

I hissed out in pain, my hat falling off my head.  Virgil was clinging onto me tightly, shaking horribly.

I turned over and curled around Virgil, taking all the hits that the other two were giving us.  I grunted in pain but made sure that they didn't hurt Virgil.

"Don't move, scream if you need help."  I whispered to Virgil before letting go or him and turning to attack Remus and Ignorance.  Virgil curled in on himself, burying his face in his hands.

Remus landed a punch against my cheek.  I turned angrily and punched him back.  It's been a while since I fought someone.

Remus tackled me, obviously trying to pull me into a chock hold.  I pushed him off me, landing a blow to his gut.  He backed away from me, obviously in pain.

I summoned my snakes, but my powers didn't work very well in here. Only three appeared and they weren't responding to me. But they at least seemed to understand that I needed their help.

I heard Virgil scream from behind me, fear instantly coursing through me. Before Remus could do anything else I kicked him where the sun don't shine.

"FUCK!"  Remus screeched, falling to the ground, clutching himself in pain.  My snakes crawled towards Remus and held him down.

I turned quickly to see Ignorance had dragged Virgil away from me and towards the water. That was not good. If Ignorance got Virgil into the water, he would get infected with the parasite.

I ran after them, shoving Ignorance off of Virgil.  I punched Ignorance hard, causing his face to snap backwards. Ignorance quickly recovered and shoved me back.

I fell hard onto my back, getting winded from the sudden impact. My lungs felt like they were burning and I couldn't draw in any breaths.

Ignorance picked Virgil up. Virgil tried to struggle but he was obviously beyond caring if he survived or not anymore.

I struggle up to my feet, swaying horribly with lightheadedness. Ignorance stopped at the edge of the water and lifted Virgil up.

"Stop!" I screamed. I ran and slammed into Ignorance. He let go of Virgil, causing them both to fall to the ground.

"Virgil run!" I yelled, pulling him upwards.

"Remus now!" Ignorance screamed at the same time. Virgil screamed, causing me to turn around.

Remus was standing there with a glowing red sword. He had a crazed look in his eyes.

I shoved Virgil behind me, glaring at Remus. He swung the sword at me, causing me to duck.

Remus kicked me, causing me to fall over. I hissed at him and lunged back up at him. Remus dropped the sword.

I hissed as the two of us fought together on the ground. I grabbed Remus by the hair and pulled him up. I shoved him towards the water, causing Remus to trip and smack his head against a rock. He stopped moving.

"Dee!" Screamed Virgil. I turned quickly to see Ignorance backing Virgil up towards the water with the sword.

I grabbed Ignorance and swung him away from Virgil. He landed heavily on the ground.

He glared at me and quickly got back to his feet. He raised the sword up and pointed it at me. Virgil pressed up against his back, digging his fingers into my cape. I could feel him shaking. Ignorance laughed at us.

With that, Ignorance raised the sword and swung it at us. I ducked, pulling Virgil with me. I quickly lunged upwards, shoving Ignorance back.

He growled and thrust the sword forwards again. I jumped to the right, shooting my foot out causing him to trip.

He jumped back up and slashed the sword at me. I barely jumped out of the way. Than I realized that Ignorance had made his way between Virgil and I.

Ignorance laughed and turned to the shaking Virgil. He was to the shoreline of the water, no where for him to run.

Fear filled me as Ignorance raised the sword above his head. I ran forwards right as Ignorance swung the sword down on Virgil.

The blade slashed across Virgil chest. He screamed out in pain as it cut through him. Ignorance started laughing as Virgil fell forward, pressing his hands against the wound.

I grabbed Ignorance and wrapped my hands around his throat. I picked him up and started strangling him.

Ignorance dropped the sword. He clawed at my hands, trying to struggle out of my grip. I felt no remorse for him. We weren't family anymore.

With that, I turned and chucked him towards Remus, who still hadn't woken up. Ignorance landed heavily. There was a crunch and than Ignorance was screaming in pain.

He clutched onto his ankle, glaring at me. I smirked but quickly turned to Virgil. He was lying on the ground in a pool of blood.

I ran over to him and knelt next to him. He was barely lucid at this point. I moved him onto his back, causing him to grimace.

His shirt was ripped, revealing a long bloody cut going across his chest.

"It'll be okay." I told him. "We're going home. You're gonna be okay." I knew I was lying. Virgil isn't going to be okay.

The cut was deep and it wouldn't stop bleeding. I faltered for a second. I remembered the last time I was in this position.

Doubt.

Doubt died in my arms. I will never let that happened again. I quickly scooped Virgil up into my arms.

He whimpered in pain but otherwise made no sign of response.  I ran quickly over towards the portal.

I turned on last time to see Ignorance and Remus.  Remus was starting to wake up, Ignorance was just glaring at us.

With that, I jumped into the portal.

Roman POV
I felt fear and rage fill me as Deceit fell out of the portal, holding tightly to a bleeding Virgil. A long bleeding cut went across his chest. His entire shirt was soaked in blood.

Patton letting out a sharp gasp snapped me out of my thoughts. Instantly, I ran over to Deceit and pulled Virgil into my arms. Virgil let out a whimper at the sudden movement.

I collapsed to the ground, holding tightly to Virgil. Deceit slowly stood up, obviously out of breath.

"Ignorance cut him." Was all Deceit said. Got wet tears fell down my cheeks. Virgil was looking at me, fear and pain in his eyes.

"Roman..." Virgil mumbled before bursting into tears.

"It's okay. I'm right here. You're gonna be okay." I promised him. I looked over at Logan. "Help him." I begged.

Logan headed over to us, he seemed to be in shock. I laid Virgil on the ground. Logan knelt down next to him, examining the wound.

"He'll be okay." Logan said to no one in particular. "The wound is not deep enough to cause any serious damage. I'd like to get him back home so that I can wrap the wound."

We all let out a collective sigh of relief. I picked Virgil back up, careful to not aggravate the wound.

"Wait...Dee."  Virgil mumbled. Deceit seemed to tense up when Virgil called him Dee.  Virgil pulled a strange glowing orb out of his pocket. He held it out to Deceit.

"What is it?" Deceit asked, taking the orb from Virgil. Logan looked at the orb in Deceit's hand.

"It appears to be Doubt's memory orb." Logan said after the rotation of memories ended.

"Will this...?" Deceit asked, trailing off.

"Yes I believe that this will return Doubt's memories to him." Answered Logan. Deceit smiled.

"You should go to him."  Patton told Deceit, a small smile on his face.  "We'll take care of Virgil."

Deceit nodded, holding onto the orb tightly.  He quickly turned and headed towards the trait complex.  I hoped for him that Doubt would regain his memories now.

"Okay, we need to go back home so that we may fix Virgil."  Logan said, regaining our attention.

We all nodded and started heading back home.  Finally, I had Virgil back.  He was home and safe.  Now all that was left was recovery.  And that's easy, right?
