I woke up shivering. I pulled my legs up to my chest and shifted on the pile of leaves I was sleeping on.
After the police had attacked, Theo had lead the entire choroni into the woods. Or, what was left of us. The choroni has started as seventeen families and around two-hundred Choronuses total. There was barely a hundred of us left now, everyone else having been either shot or buried alive.
I sat up and yawned, looking up through the trees. The sun had just started to rise. I could see the sleeping forms of the other Choronuses all around me. Most were sleeping in pairs to keep warm. As soon as I sat up I was overcome with worry.
The last any of us had seen of my brothers, Vee was dragging Jessie behind a Dumpster while they were being shot at. Theo had tried to search for them in the woods, but not even a trace was found. I had a feeling that they had gone to Vee's boyfriend's house (he had come out to me not too long ago), but I didn't know where that was and we didn't have access to phones to call.
We really just had to hope that they were safe. And that we would be safe.

Really just a filler chapter to explain what was going with the rest of the choroni.
