"Well then go back! You obviously don't care about our relationship, so go, go back to your twolegs and your kittypet ways!" a she-cat bristled. The tom hissed at her, then turned away, padding out of the forest.

Tears rolled down her face. She glared up at the stars.

"How could you let this happen to me? I'm the deputy, I should be setting a good example!" she cried. "These kits will be scorned if the clans ever found out the truth!"

"Well, well, well, what do we have here?" said a new voice. The new tom's eyes emerged from the shadows.

The she-cat flattened her ears back in horror and surprise.

"Wh-what are you doing here? H-how long have you been there?" she stuttered.

"Long enough," said the tom, padding close to the she-cat, his breath tickling her ear fur.

"I could've made you happy," he said, running his tail along her flank.

"It's against the warrior code," she growled.

"Well, so was that," he said, flicking his tail in the direction that the other tom went, "But you'll pick my brother over me, correct?"

The she-cat blushed angrily. She hated how her actions were so obvious to the tom.

"Why should you care?" she spat, "You should've known that I'd pick him over you, and he would've been my mate if not for that kittypet,"

"Ah, but fate is cruel, isn't it," he murmured. "You should be grateful that I won't reveal your little secret,"

"Hardly. The clan will accept my decisions," she retorted.

"Ah, but you yourself earlier were just saying that these kits would be scorned if anyone found out," the tom said.

"I'll never be your mate!" she hissed, turning on the tom.

"When he and your kits are dead, then you will come to me," he growled, voice dark. With that he then slunk back into the shadows, leaving the she-cat alone to wallow in her despair.
