Mr. CEO

Jungkook's Pov || 1 year After

As the morning light danced across her features, I couldn't help but marvel at the gentle contours of her face, softened in the embrace of sleep. Every delicate line, every subtle curve seemed to hold a story of its own. Her hair cascaded around her like a veil of silk, framing her face in a warm halo that accentuated her natural beauty.

"I wanna be a good man, just for you.

Can change the world, just for you.

Can change myself, just for you.

Now I don't even know me, who are you?"

"Who are you, huh?" suppressing the impulse to run my fingers through her tousled curls, I instead contented myself with tracing the outline of her features with my gaze, committing every moment to memory. The way her lips curved into a serene smile, the way her eyelashes fluttered against her cheeks as she stirred, it was all a symphony of grace and tranquility.

As she gradually roused from her slumber, her movements fluid and graceful like a dancer, I found myself captivated by her every gesture. When her sleepy eyes finally met mine, a soft chuckle escaped her lips, sending warmth flooding through my veins.

"What's so captivating?" she mumbled, her voice still thick with sleep.

With a tender smile, I brushed a stray lock of hair from her face, tucking it behind her ear gently. "Just admiring the most beautiful sight in the world," I replied, my voice barely above a whisper.

A blush tinted her cheeks as she nuzzled closer to me, her warmth seeping into my skin as she nestled her head against my chest. In that moment, with her in my arms, I knew that I was exactly where I was meant to be.

"I could get used to waking up like this every day," she murmured, her voice laced with contentment.

"Me too," I whispered, pressing a tender kiss to the crown of her head. "Me too."

As she blushed furiously at my inquiry, I couldn't help but feel a pang of concern. "Did I hurt you?" I asked, my voice softening with genuine worry.

With a playful roll of her eyes, she reassured me, "I'm fine, Kookie. Let's just... not talk about it, okay?"

I couldn't resist teasing her, her embarrassment only making her more endearing in my eyes. "Aw, my girl's turning as red as a tomato," I teased, a mischievous smirk playing on my lips.

Her response was a mixture of irritation and affection, "Could you not, please?"

"Alright, alright, no need to get grumpy this early in the morning," I relented, chuckling softly. As she slipped out of bed, wrapping herself in a towel, I couldn't help but protest, "Hey, where's my morning kiss?"

With a playful grin, she tiptoed over to me, planting a quick peck on my lips before darting into the bathroom. I couldn't help but grin foolishly after her, shaking my head in amusement. "This girl's going to drive me crazy one day," I muttered to myself.

"You already are!" her voice echoed from the bathroom, accompanied by a melodious giggle.

With a fond sigh, I made my way to my own room to freshen up, feeling grateful for every moment spent with her, even the ones filled with playful banter and teasing.

Y/N's pov

Jungkook's protective gesture lingered in my mind as I stepped into my office, his concern palpable in the way he insisted on dropping me off. The memory of last night's intimacy caused a flush to creep onto my cheeks, a familiar warmth spreading through me.

Shaking my head to dispel the distracting thoughts, I greeted my colleague Clair with a smile as she approached me. She was my anchor in the office, a constant source of support and camaraderie.

Clair was a woman in her twenties, epitomized elegance with her sleek bob and warm, almond-shaped eyes. Fashionable yet professional, she exuded confidence in every step. Her infectious laughter and compassionate nature endeared her to colleagues. A blend of tradition and modernity, she embodied the essence of Korean beauty.

"Hey, Y/N!" she beamed, her enthusiasm infectious.

"Hi there!" I replied, returning her smile.

"Ready for today's meeting?" she inquired, her eyes alight with anticipation.

"Absolutely. This is a significant opportunity for our company," I affirmed, my determination clear.

Our company was on the verge of launching a new game, and securing sponsorship from Kim & Sons Entertainment was a major milestone. Today's meeting with their CEO was crucial, and Clair would be by my side to assist.

As we waited for the CEO's arrival, Clair's nerves were evident in her restless tapping and fidgeting. I offered her a reassuring smile, encouraging her to relax.

"Take a breath and have some coffee. It's not time to panic yet," I advised, handing her a cup.

"Are you not nervous at all?" she asked, her voice tinged with apprehension.

"I've been through plenty of these meetings. You'll get used to it too," I reassured her, placing a comforting hand on her thigh.

"But Kim & Sons is a major player in the entertainment industry! What if we mess up?" Clair fretted.

"Everything will be fine. We've prepared for this. Fighting!" I encouraged, offering her a reassuring squeeze.

Before long, a security guard informed me of the CEO's arrival, and I felt a surge of nerves. Standing before the wooden door to his office, a sense of anticipation washed over me, mingled with a strange feeling of familiarity.

Just as I was about to enter, Clair's hand caught mine, her plea for support evident in her eyes. "Y/N, can I please stay behind? I'm too nervous," she pleaded.

I sighed, understanding her apprehension. "Alright, but stay close," I relented.

"Thank you. I'll be right outside," Clair promised.

I nodded, grateful for her support. "Wish me luck," I whispered before taking a deep breath and turning the doorknob.  With a steadying breath, I pushed open the door, feeling the rush of cold air from the office's air conditioner wash over my face. There he was, the CEO of Kim & Sons, his back turned to me as he focused on his phone.

"Excuse me, sir," I spoke softly, my voice barely above a whisper but audible enough to catch his attention. He set his phone aside and turned to face me.

In that moment, a shockwave rippled through me, stealing the air from my lungs. It felt as though time had come to a standstill as I beheld his familiar features. His face, his eyes, his smile—all mirrored the man I had loved and lost, Kim Taehyung.

But how could this be? Taehyung had passed away nearly two years ago. "T-Taehyung..." I breathed out, my voice trembling with disbelief.

As the realization sank in, everything seemed to blur around me. The world spun dizzily, and I felt myself losing consciousness. The last thing I saw was Taehyung's concerned expression as he rushed towards me before everything faded to black.

....

"Taehyung.... Please Stay with Me....

"I am sorry..." He left my hand and walked away from me.

"Tae—" I abruptly woke up from the nightmare that never failed to torment me. I felt someone's comforting arms wrap around me.

"Take it easy. It's okay... How do you feel now?" Clair's gentle voice reached my ears, pulling me back to reality.

As I glanced around, I realized I was sitting on the couch in my office. Confusion clouded my mind. "What happened?"

"That's what I should be asking you. Mr. CEO called me when you fainted," Clair explained, her worry palpable.

Panic surged within me. "Where is he?!" I demanded.

"Calm down! Who are you talking about?" Clair attempted to ease me back into my seat. "Kim Taehyung! Where is he?!" I pressed, my voice trembling with urgency.

"The CEO? Did he do something to you? I'll—" Clair's protective instincts kicked in.

Taking a deep breath, I composed myself. "No, he didn't do anything. Please, just tell me where he is?!"

"He left about an hour ago. I handled the meeting in your place," Clair informed me.

"Left?! Where did he go?!" Doubt and confusion churned within me.

"I don't know, probably back to his hometown. He's not a Seoul resident," Clair's words left me puzzled.

Was he truly Taehyung? But he lived in Seoul. I vividly remembered attending his funeral. How could he be alive? Even if he was, why didn't he reach out to me? Was his love for me a lie? What about Jungkook? I couldn't bear to hurt him. The barrage of questions overwhelmed me, causing my head to throb painfully.

"Do you know Kim Taehyung?" Clair's voice snapped me out of my tormenting thoughts into the more messed up reality.

"N-no... I don't know him... I just want to go home," I admitted, feeling drained.

"Shall I call a cab?" Clair offered.

"It's okay, I'll call Jungkook to pick me up. His shift is probably over by now," I replied, needing the comfort of Jungkook's presence.

I couldn't take it anymore. I wanted someone, and that someone was Jungkook. When I was with him, every worry faded away. He never failed to bring a smile to my lips, and I felt the most comfortable around him. I craved that warm feeling in his arms.

Y/N
Jungkook, please pick me up. I am not feeling well.

Jungkookie
What happened??

Y/N
Nothing, just a slight headache. Please come fast.

Jungkookie
Okay. I will be there within 30 minutes. My shift is almost over.

Clair's POV

I observed Y/N's vulnerability, a side of her I had never witnessed before. She had always been a pillar of strength for me. There was definitely something going on between her and the CEO. Despite her denials, her restlessness betrayed her feelings. Taehyung's aloofness towards her only added to the mystery. Should I confront Jungkook about this? Or perhaps it's best not to meddle in her personal affairs, at least for now...

"Jungkook's here. Bye, Clair. Thanks for looking after me," Y/N said hurriedly, clearly trying to avoid me.

"No problem. Take care," I replied, watching her rush out of the office. Chuckling to myself, I returned to my cabin. It was time to do some background research on Kim Taehyung. No one hurts my friend without consequences.
