Irene

Third pov

He couldn't remember anything after Taehyung opened his eyes in the hospital. The sterile scent of antiseptic filled the room, and the steady beeping of medical monitors was the only sound. Irene, dressed in a crisp white coat, felt a pang of sympathy for the boy. She had begun to develop a soft spot for Taehyung, whose fragile state tugged at her heartstrings.

"Listen to me very carefully..." She lowered herself to whisper in Taehyung's ear. "Your name is Taehyung. You have a complicated life here. Some people want to kill you. Luckily, you survived a fall from a seventy-foot building."

Taehyung stared blankly at her, his eyes void of recognition. Her eyes softened at the sight of his innocent pupils, large and doe-like, framed by thick lashes - the same as his twin yet completely different. Taecyeon was indeed cruel to go after this angelic young man's life. Irene patted his shoulder comfortingly, her touch gentle against the hospital gown he wore, and continued, "You should leave the country and never show your face to anyone here. You have much life to live."

"But I don't remember any of my relatives. I don't know anyone. How can I leave the country? Where will I go?" Taehyung's voice trembled, his confusion evident.

Irene thought for a moment, glancing around the room. The clinical white walls and the bland, functional furniture provided no comfort. "I have an apartment in Canada. It's a cozy place in a quiet neighborhood. You can go there. I will arrange for your departure. Don't worry about money; I will send it to you regularly."

Irene's father owned a company, and she was wealthy. She could afford to cover Taehyung's expenses until he got back on his feet. Her family's mansion, filled with luxurious furnishings and expensive art, contrasted sharply with the sterile hospital environment. She imagined Taehyung in the apartment she owned in Vancouver, with its warm wooden floors, soft lighting, and a view of the serene mountains.

"Will I be alone?" Taehyung asked like a child. Irene's heart melted at this.

"No. I'll go with you if you want," she assured him, thinking of her comfortable life. She could transfer her work; the skills of a doctor were needed everywhere.

"Then please come with me," Taehyung's pleading eyes got the best of her.

Irene gave him the medicine, watching as he obediently swallowed the pills. "Rest now," she instructed, smoothing the thin hospital blanket over him. She had a lot to take care of for their departure. Canada wasn't a bad place. She could always work as a doctor there. The thought of starting anew in a beautiful country filled her with a mix of anxiety and hope. Her thoughts were interrupted by a call.

Her sleek, latest-model smartphone buzzed in her pocket. It was Taecyeon on the other end. "Hey, Doc!" he beamed, his voice oozing false cheerfulness.

"What do you want?" Irene replied, irritation evident in her voice.

"Your life."

Irene's heart started beating faster in fear, her hand tightening around the phone. "W-what?"

"Just kidding. Is my brother dead yet?"

Irene took a quick glance at the sleeping Taehyung before replying, "Y-yes," she lied, her voice shaky.

"Well done, friend. The extra money will be transferred to your account."

"I- I don't need money. I just want to forget I ever did this disgusting act."

"Sure. Anything that makes you happy." Taecyeon chuckled. "And, if anyone named Y/N comes to meet you, tell her lover died from the fall."

"Who is she?"

"His lover. My poor brother." He faked a cry and hung up.

She put the phone down and looked out the window, the cityscape stretching out before her. She knew she had to act quickly to get Taehyung to safety. The glittering lights of the city contrasted with the darkness that threatened to envelop them both.

Irene was in a turmoil of emotions after the brief conversation with Taecyeon. Should she tell Y/N that Taehyung was alive? Her conscience wavered, but she ultimately decided it was better for everyone to forget him for his own safety. They would indeed grieve, but Tae's life mattered more. Taecyeon would show no mercy if he discovered the truth. If Taehyung ever regained his memories, Irene would happily let him choose his own path.

With a heavy heart, Irene arranged for a fake body to be sent to his relatives and friends before they left the country.

They stayed in Canada for about three years. During this time, Taehyung completed his MBA and took over Irene's father's company. Her father, seeing the potential and dedication in Taehyung, declared him his successor, as Irene, his only child, had shown no interest in the business. In a short period, Taehyung had become the CEO, managing the company with exceptional skill and dedication.

Irene supported him every step of the way, her admiration and affection for him growing deeper. She tried to forget about Y/N, accepting that Taehyung might never be truly hers.

Taehyung, unaware of his past, loved Irene dearly. He didn't want to remember anything about his previous life, believing that if someone had wanted to kill him, it must not have been worth recalling. He focused on building a future with Irene, though he sometimes felt an inexplicable emptiness. There were moments when his heart ached without reason, a silent cry for the part of him that still remembered Y/N.

After three years, Taehyung decided to return to Korea. Irene was terrified of losing him and didn't want him to encounter Taecyeon. But Taehyung was determined, his mind set on returning.

Irene stood on the terrace of the 100-story office building, staring at the sky with tear-filled eyes. The cool night air brushed against her skin, but it did nothing to soothe her troubled heart. She feared that once Taehyung returned to Korea, he would never come back to her.

"Irene?" The sound of Taehyung's voice broke her reverie. She turned around to face him, her heart aching at the sight of his concerned expression. "Why are you crying?"

"I am crying for you. I am afraid of losing you," she admitted, her voice breaking as fresh tears rolled down her cheeks.

Taehyung smiled gently, a look of pure love in his eyes. He stepped closer and wiped her tears away with his thumb, his touch tender and reassuring. "Then I should turn all these tears into happiness."

"W-what do you mean?" Irene asked, her voice trembling with a mixture of hope and uncertainty.

Taehyung stepped back and cleared his throat, his eyes never leaving hers. He knelt on one knee, the city lights casting a soft glow around them, and extended his hand. "I love you, my star. Will you honor me by being my wife, Miss Bae Irene?"

Irene's breath caught in her throat. She covered her mouth with her hand, overwhelmed by the wave of emotions crashing over her. Tears continued to stream down her face, but now they were tears of joy. She felt as if she were dreaming. Her first love had finally proposed to her, and the moment felt surreal. She wished it could last forever.

"Now tell me 'yes' already! My knee is hurting," Taehyung whined playfully, bringing her back to reality. She vigorously nodded her head in agreement and took his hand, her heart bursting with happiness.

"Yes! YES! YES! I love you too!" Irene squealed, her voice filled with pure joy. Taehyung stood up and pulled her into his arms, claiming her lips in a passionate kiss. The starry night sky bore witness to the blossoming of a new love story.

"Now I'm not going to Korea alone. We will go together," Taehyung declared, his voice filled with determination and love. Irene's heart swelled with relief and happiness. They were embarking on a new journey together, hand in hand, ready to face whatever the future held.
