Author's pov

Three days until the graduation ceremony. Three precious days Taehyung had left with Y/n before he had to disappear, leaving behind everything he held dear.

As he lay on his back, staring up at the ceiling, a bittersweet smile tugged at Taehyung's lips. Beside him, Jungkook sat, absorbed in his phone, seemingly oblivious to his friend's turmoil. Taehyung couldn't help but feel a pang of loneliness, despite Jungkook's presence. He was grateful for his friend's company, yet the weight of his impending departure pressed heavily upon him.

"Jungkook?" No response.

"Jungkookkk???"

Still, Jungkook remained engrossed in his phone, prompting Taehyung to resort to more drastic measures. With a swift kick, he sent Jungkook tumbling to the floor, startling him out of his distraction.

"What the hell, man!" Jungkook protested, rubbing his sore backside.

"Why aren't you paying attention to me?!" Taehyung scolded, a hint of frustration creeping into his voice.

Jungkook rolled his eyes theatrically before joining Taehyung on the bed, adopting a playful tone. "I am always here for you, Daddy~" he teased, only to recoil at Taehyung's exaggerated disgust.

"Eww! Go away!" Taehyung feigned disgust. "Go get a girlfriend!" Jungkook retaliated with a playful punch to Taehyung's stomach, eliciting a yelp of protest. "Oww! That hurt!"

"You deserved it. Anyways, tell me what's on your mind," Jungkook prompted, his playful demeanor softening as he sensed Taehyung's distress.

"I was thinking about Y/n..." Taehyung began, his voice trailing off as he struggled to articulate his thoughts.

"Tell me something I don't know, buddy," Jungkook quipped, his gaze softening as he saw the flicker of sadness in Taehyung's eyes.

"It's just... nevermind," Taehyung hesitated, unable to voice his fears aloud.

"Not convincing, Tae," Jungkook pressed, his concern evident in his tone.

Taehyung let out a heavy sigh, his facade crumbling under Jungkook's unwavering gaze. "I was just thinking... what will happen to Y/n if I'm not with her?" he admitted, his voice barely above a whisper.

"Don't worry, she can take care of herself," Jungkook reassured, offering a comforting smile.

"You don't understand," Taehyung persisted, his anxiety mounting with each passing moment. "What if someone troubles her? What if she's kidnapped? What if she gets sick? What if—"

"Taehyung, stop!" Jungkook interrupted, shaking his friend by the shoulders in an effort to break through his spiraling thoughts. "You're being paranoid."

"Promise me, Jungkook," Taehyung implored, his voice tinged with desperation. "Promise me you'll be there for her. Promise me you'll protect her with everything you have."

"I promise," Jungkook vowed, his tone solemn as he met Taehyung's gaze. "I'll protect her like sepals protect the bud, like an umbrella in the rain, like a shield from the blows. But first, you need to calm down. What's really going on inside your head?"

Taehyung's attempt to deflect Jungkook's probing gaze only served to intensify the weight of his own guilt and fear. His heart raced with the knowledge that he was hiding something, yet he couldn't bring himself to confide in his closest friend. The words caught in his throat, a bitter taste of betrayal lingering on his tongue as he struggled to maintain the facade of normalcy.

"I-I was j-just being psychotic," Taehyung stammered, his voice betraying the turmoil raging within him. "I saw a film which messed up my mind. But you know what?" He forced a grin, though the flicker of uncertainty in his eyes belied his bravado. "I am not going to leave her anytime soon. And you will be the last person to be trusted. I know what a pervert you are."

"Yah! What do you mean by 'pervert'?! It was you who used to flirt with girls in high school! And did you forget about that cringy Laura?" Jungkook retorted, though his jest fell flat in the face of Taehyung's obvious distress.

Taehyung's only response was to hurl a pillow in Jungkook's direction before retreating beneath the blankets, his muffled voice barely audible as he bid his friend goodnight. Jungkook watched him with a heavy heart, a sense of helplessness gnawing at him as he contemplated the true extent of Taehyung's inner turmoil. Why dont you share it with me, buddy?
Both Y/n and Jungkook sensed the unease that hung heavy in the air, yet they chose to brush it off, convincing themselves that Taehyung was simply having a rough day. Y/n showered him with love and affection, hoping to lift his spirits, while Jungkook offered unwavering support, silently praying that his friend would confide in him before it was too late.
If only Taehyung had found the courage to speak his truth, to lay bare the demons that haunted him, perhaps their story would have taken a different turn. Perhaps they could have faced the darkness together, emerging stronger and more united than ever before. But as fate would have it, their path was set, and they could only watch helplessly as it veered ever further from the happiness they so desperately craved.

..................................................

Taehyung's eyes fluttered open, a lone tear tracing its path down his cheek as he realized it was graduation day—the day he dreaded most. With a heavy heart, he acknowledged that he would never forgive fate for the injustices it had wrought upon him.

Seated at his study table, Taehyung poured his heart into a final letter to Y/n, a bittersweet smile gracing his lips as he folded it with care and placed it under a paperweight—a silent testament to his enduring love.

Standing before the mirror, Taehyung surveyed his tear-stained cheeks with a determined gaze. "No more tears, Taehyung," he resolved, forcing a smile. "You're doing this for Y/n."

Determined to leave a lasting impression, Taehyung set out to look his best, aiming to etch his handsome face into Y/n's memory. As thoughts of her filled his mind, they were abruptly interrupted by the unmistakable sound of Jungkook's voice blaring from his alarm. "KIM FOOKING TAEHYUNG! WAKE UP! OR I KISS YOU!"

Startled, Taehyung jerked upright, his knee colliding with the table in the process. Grimacing in pain, he cursed his choice of alarm tone and the tardiness it had caused. "Why the hell did I set Jungkook's voice as my alarm?!" he cried, rubbing his throbbing knee before silencing the offending device.

Refusing to let the mishap dampen his spirits, Taehyung donned the grey tuxedo that Y/n adored, his hair meticulously combed back to reveal his forehead. With a final touch of lip balm and an adjustment to his tie, he surveyed his reflection with a satisfied nod.

"Peerrrfecttt," he declared with a thumbs up, determined to make the best of the day ahead despite the early setback. With renewed resolve, he set off for Y/n's flat, with a smile on his lips.

.............

Taehyung's breath caught in his throat when he laid eyes on his girl. She looked like a goddess, akin to Aphrodite herself, in the red knee-length dress. Her cherry-red lipstick was vibrant, almost stirring his hormones. Her long brown hair drove him wild, and her eyelashes added an extra layer of beauty to her captivating eyes. Taehyung feared he might commit a sin if he dared to look down at her curves.

"Oh lord... Gorgeous..." Taehyung dreamily breathed out.

Y/n, equally awestruck by her love, fought an inner battle not to pounce on Taehyung with her lips. "Step on me..." The words slipped from her mouth inadvertently.

"W-what??" Taehyung blinked in surprise.

"I mean, step inside," she quickly corrected herself, opening the door wide.

"Your roommate isn't here?" Taehyung inquired.

"Nope. She went to her friend's place for a night over."

Taehyung's gaze darkened as Y/n licked her lips. He wasted no time before claiming them as his own. Their kiss was passionate, fervent, each matching the other's intensity. Taehyung struggled to restrain himself, but his hands betrayed him as they traced the curves of her body. Y/n moaned into the kiss, her grip on his hair tightening. He closed his eyes, inhaling her intoxicating scent, longing to possess her completely. But he knew he couldn't—not when he was about to leave her forever. He had no right.

Slowly, they parted, both breathing heavily, their cheeks flushed. "You look more handsome than the word 'handsome' itself," Y/n complimented, her words warming Taehyung's heart.

"And beauty can't define your looks," Taehyung whispered, pressing their foreheads together. "I love you so damn much! Remember, I will always keep on loving you."

"Me too."

"This is the last day of our college life. Let's dedicate ourselves to our friends. It's their day. We can carry on with our romance after today," Taehyung suggested.

"You're correct. No being lovey-dovey tonight," Y/n agreed with a smile, bringing a sense of contentment to Taehyung. He would have no regrets. He had lived his life, and he was grateful that he could protect Y/n.

............

The party was bustling with people. Taehyung stood between Namjoon and Yoongi, taking a sip of his drink.

"Y/n looks so gorgeous," Yoongi teased.

"Eyes off my girl!" Tae snapped, feigning annoyance.

"Yeah, yeah, whatever," Yoongi rolled his eyes.

Suddenly, Taehyung's phone buzzed, and he excused himself from the others. "Yeobosseo?"

"Did you forget our deal, brother?" Taecyeon's voice came from the other end. Taehyung's smile vanished.

"I-I didn't."

"Very well then..."

Taehyung spotted a masked man within the crowd. His breath hitched when he saw a gun in his hand. Taecyeon had really come to kill her. "I will be out of your way tonight itself. I will sacrifice my life for her. But don't you dare lay a finger on her. You promised me. I am giving you your satisfaction," Taehyung gritted his teeth.

"Okay, okay!" Taecyeon cut the call.

Proceeding with his plan became harder and harder as Y/n caught Taehyung's eye every minute. She was already missing his company. Besides, Jungkook was also there on her team. God had given him parents having the faces of a girlfriend and a best friend.

He slipped away when Jungkook was occupied with Hoseok. He took a last glance at Y/n, who was talking with Lisa, before making his way to the terrace. Little did he know, Jungkook had seen him smiling at Y/n and heading to the roof.

Unfortunately, Jungkook thought Taehyung was just being romantic. He completely forgot about Taehyung's previous behavior when the latter acted like his normal self. Taehyung had even playfully fought with him. How wrong was he!

Taehyung looked down at his feet. The railing was too narrow for him to stand properly. He took a deep breath as a gust of cold wind hit his face, refreshing him. He wished to meet Y/n in his next life. He reminisced about the happy moments with his loved ones—the first time he saw her in the biology lab, how she jumped upon seeing the skeleton; their first kiss under the orange sunlight brought a smile to his lips. He recalled the auditorium incident, the park incident, the class bunking incident, and even the memories he spent with Jungkook in high school. He would miss his gang, miss Seokjin, Namjoon, Yoongi, Hoseok, Jimin, Lisa, and Jisoo. He would miss the competition between him and Jin, 'Who will make others laugh?'

[refer to don't leave me for each event in details]

Taehyung was interrupted by Y/n's panicked voice. "TAEHYUNG! WHAT ARE YOU DOING! GET DOWN, YOU'LL FALL!"

He turned around and saw her approaching him. But there was no turning back now. It was too late. He sadly mumbled, "I'm sorry," before dropping himself from the fifth floor.

Crimson liquid began to pool around his body as soon as he hit the ground. Taehyung could care less. His lips were curved into a smile as he spotted Y/n through his hooded vision. She stood five floors above. "I'll miss you wherever I'm going..." he took a breath before continuing, "My Y/n."That was the last word before he closed his eyes.

Taecyeon laughed after watching Taehyung die in front of his eyes. He wanted to take Y/n in that moment, but he had to make sure Tae was gone forever. He followed the ambulance in which Taehyung was taken to the hospital.

Taecyeon smirked at Doctor Irene, his batchmate. "I want him dead." Irene nodded and smirked back before heading into the operating theater.

Taecyeon happily announced his brother's death to everyone in his house. The ajumma instantly burst into tears. She loved him like her own child.

As it is said, even the evil have their day sometimes. Taecyeon got an email. His heart jumped out of his ribcage when he saw he was selected for a five-year project in the largest laboratory in Geneva, Switzerland. It was his dream job. He at once forgot about Y/n and left for Switzerland.Opportunity comes only once, and Y/n could always wait. It was not like she was going anywhere.

.................

Doctor Irene sadly looked at Taehyung. His cranium was bandaged tightly. The operation was a success. She was supposed to kill him, but she couldn't. How could a doctor take someone's life? Doctors give life, not take it. A doctor is a godly figure to their patients.

She thought of a better plan. She would tell Taehyung to leave the country forever and never show his face to anyone he knows. She would also prepare a fake body of him. She knew Taecyeon was a devil, but she was also scared for her life. So, she went along with it.

Taehyung opened his eyes after seven days. The surroundings seemed unfamiliar to him.

"How do you feel, Taehyung?" Doctor Irene asked in her gentle voice.

"Taehyung? Who is he?" Taehyung replied.
