Monday
Jimin had woken up early, cold, and alone. He already missed having Jungkook sleeping next to him, he missed the warmth of him, his soft breathing and the welcoming smell of his morning musk. He already missed their bickering and he missed his shyness. All he ever wanted when he grew up was to find his soulmate and love them. He had never dated because he knew he would find the one, he kept faithful, and even though through tough times he wanted someone different to lean on...he made sure he never dated. So when he saw Jungkook with another guy he couldn't help but feel jealous.
The two were drinking outside a cafe, talking and laughing, and it seemed like they were catching up on whatever it was. Jungkook and a black haired guy, who was maybe a little taller then Jimin. Jungkook with not himself. He huffed to himself and kept walking. He saved Jungkook yesterday and he didn't even get a visit. He heard them laugh, and watched them get up. Jimin suddenly felt bad for watching and turned to go inside the bookstore where he worked. He felt really bad now for watching Jungkook with someone else, the jealousy gone, the guilt filling instead. He got behind the counter and put on an apron, tying it around his back. He heard a bell ring and he looked up.
Jimin smiled on instinct. "Good morning!"
"Oh shit...hi Jimin...good morning." Jungkook walked up to the counter. "So this is where you work?" He looked around then leaned his back on the counter, elbows on the counter as well. "It's a nice place...yet I really do keep running into you huh?" He leaned his head back so he was looking at Jimin upside down.
"Y-yeah...fate am I right?" Jimin smiled and blushed when Jungkook smiled back.
"Cute." Jungkook cleared his throat immediately and stood up. "Um, anyway, I need replacement books cause some random person came into my house and made The Gust appear and destroyed my entire house." Jungkook wasn't trying to hide his sarcasm.
"Ah, yes, you totally didn't just call me cute. Exactly who is this person, and what books do you need? They sound charming by the way." Jimin decided to play along, a small smile creeping onto his face.
"Well, they're trying to get me to like them, but they haven't taken me on a date yet, so I think they're a coward. And I made a list..." He noticed Jungkook felt embarrassed, since he didn't say anything about calling him cute. He watched as Jungkook took out a list from his pocket and handed it to him. Jimin took it and looked it over.
"Well...this is an interesting list."
"Are you making fun of me?"
"Nope. Just observing." Jimin went around the counter and started looking for where the books would be. "And by the way...I don't think the person is a coward...more like he's- they're most likely sad."
"And why would this person be sad?" Jungkook followed Jimin like a puppy, blindly trusting that they were going to the correct places.
"Well because the person with the broken house has non stop pushed them away."
"Oh..."
"And because they haven't given them a real chance."
"Yeah..."
"And because you barely even look at me. And because you never search for me like I search for you. I really like you Jungkook. And you really don't know how much I've done for you." Jimin stopped playing their small game.
"I thought you said Namjoon was the hopeless romantic."
"Excuse- excuse me?"
"Your boss? Namjoon. Hyung I should add...but you see...I kinda did some research and we found out some things. I...I did see you arguing with Namjoon hyung yesterday...about calling it off, whatever it was, and yeah, I'm thankful. But still...Seokjin hyung is depressed now..."
"Oh...oh my god you saw that?!" Jimin turned to Jungkook quickly. "What the hell did you hear?!" Jimin whisper shouted.
"Wow, that's a reaction." Jungkook put his hands up in defeat and backed up. "I didn't hear much, but I heard you two arguing about calling it off, and Hoseok, whoever that is, being a part of it. But seriously...was there something I shouldn't have heard?"
Jimin's face blew up in embarrassment. "Definitely nothing important. Damn it..."
"Well...that's also another reaction. What exactly wasn't I supposed to hear hm?" Jungkook inched closer, teasing Jimin.
"You're being very forward..."
"Is that okay?" Jungkook continued to walk forward, making Jimin walk backwards.
"It's sudden, and extremely hot." Jimin backed into a bookshelf.
"Well..." Jungkook placed a hand on the bookshelf and moved his head to Jimin's neck, breathing on it. "How many books of mine do you have? You're doing a bad job at your job."
"Your- your fault...you tease..." Jimin could feel his face full of embarrassment. He felt hot, and slightly turned on.
Jungkook fixed himself upwards, and looked to the side. "You're easy."
"Excuse me?"
"You're easy to seduce."
"You're such a fucking tease!" Jimin pouted and stared at Jungkook, who he could've sworn was blushing.
"Oh shush. You're in a bookstore, you should be a little more quiet don't you think?" Jungkook looked at him, a smirk visible.
"You're the worst."
"Exactly. Why do you like me?"
"How long of a list do you want?"
"Honestly, I just want my books."
"Lame. You can go look somewhere else for other books, I'll get you your books soon...unless you'd like to continue to be with me?" Jimin looked at him with a small smile.
He watched Jungkook think about it. Jimin hoped that Jungkook's contemplating was going to be for his side...but from previous experiences, he didn't think it would be.
"Okay. How long should it take?" Jungkook asked like this was a correct answer to the previous question.
"Um..." Jimin looked at the list again. "At most 15 minutes."
"Cool, then it's fine if I stick around?" Jungkook raised an eyebrow, and kinda shrugged.
"You're really gunna stay with me?" Jimin couldn't hide his shock, or his wide smile. "Thank you! Come on, it'll be a great 15 minutes."
"Aww, don't be to surprised...was I really that mean hyung?" Jungkook followed Jimin around, peaking his head around him to try and see his face.
Jimin continued to avoid his face, seeing as it was so cute that Jungkook was being playful. "You were mean. And am I special enough to be called hyung now?"
"Well...I should be respectful, should I not? And was I really that mean?..."
"Okay, that makes sense...and you were. I almost felt like giving up."
"O-oh...I'm sorry. I mean, I'm still not gunna date you, and maybe I can't make you happy the way you want us to be, but I'll try my best to be a superhero for you."
"Oh my god that's so cheesy."
"I mean...I'm good at cheesy and cliche..."
"Don't worry Jungkook. It's cute. But can I ask something?" Jungkook continued to follow Jimin around while he found the books on the list.
"Sure...as long as it isn't flirty."
"Well...there's nothing wrong with flirting. But anyway, why are you giving me a chance?" Jimin glanced at Jungkook, hoping his answer wouldn't be a brushed off version.
"Well...I came to a realization yesterday...and- well- I dunno, I guess I just realized you actually care for me?"
"Well, of course I do! Why wouldn't I? You're an amazing person that I'm still learning about. I want you to be in the best health. I want you to have an amazing mindset. I want you to care about yourself a little more too..." Jimin stopped and looked at Jungkook.
"I do take care of myself."
"Not enough babe."
"No babe. We're not dating." Jungkook whined a little in response. "It's kind of annoying."
"Well it's not like you're gunna date anyone else so I think I have the right to call you nicknames."
"You don't know I won't date anyone else."
"I won't let you."
"That's not your call. I could very well date someone else." Jungkook huffed a little, and crossed his arms.
Jimin picked up the next book. "Well, yes I do. We're soulmates. You treat it like that means nothing."
"It doesn't really. We're meant to be, so in the end, we could end up together. But I think it doesn't matter. You should be able to love whoever you want without the title of soulmates hanging over your head because not...everyone...gets one." Jungkook ended finishing his small rant quietly because of Jimin. He had turned around with a serious look on his face.
"Is that really what you think? That it doesn't matter, and that you can have flings whenever you want, but that it's okay, because you have a soulmate you can always go back to once you're done? Do you know how terrible that is?" Jimin had a pretty good stack of books now. He was obviously upset and possibly on the verge of tears. Jimin wouldn't admit that though.
"I...I didn't mean it like that...here, let me take some." Jungkook reached out and took some of the books to hold. "I'm sorry."
"Don't think of me like that. I'm just as human as you. You act cold and shy and all that, but I know you're playful and sweet. So just...I want to see more of that side."
"Okay...but most people think I'm a brat, and they're not wrong, but I'll try my best to be better." Jungkook gave a small apologetic smile, one Jimin noticed looked slightly rough...as if he had told that many times. Jimin couldn't help but smile back, trying to figure out what his smile really meant.
Jimin turned back around and went back to finding Jungkook's books, and finished up, bringing them to the counter.
"Well, I guess now you know where I work?" Jimin read him the total amount, making Jungkook sigh. "And stop sighing so much."
"Okay...and thank you. I'm always around, cause that's my job. I'll...maybe I'll stop by some more?"
"I'd like that." Jimin smiled widely. "Also like, don't go on dates...okay?"
"No dates in general? Guess we can't go anywhere then."
"No! No, I meant no dates with other people. I'm special, remember?" Jimin inched closer. He watched Jungkook slowly smile.
"That's what I thought you'd say. Anyway, thank you for the books. It was really helpful...but I think I gotta go."
"You think?"
"Yeah, the guy I was with before, Yoongi hyung, he's actually outside, which means he probably has a date." Jungkook laughed nervously, and nipped at his earlobe with his fingers. "I mean...it's also right after you guys were planning something so...would you tell me if you were doing anything?"
"Oh, Jungkook...it depends on the situation. I just, I really didn't want you to get hurt before. Hoseok hyung was...vengeful I guess? But who's this Yoongi?"
"Jealous?" Jungkook smirked a little, his nervousness gone. He leaned backwards a little.
"Brat. Am I not allowed to be jealous over my boyfriend hanging out with another man?"
"You're not my boyfriend Jimin hyung."
"Then Jungkookie...would you bring me the pleasure of-"
"No."
"You didn't even let me finish this time!"
"There was no need to let you. This counts as our date for today. I'm picking you up at 9am tomorrow at your apartment, so be ready." Jungkook took his bag of books and left the store without another word, leaving Jimin in a shocked state.
"Jungkook...just asked me out on a date?" Jimin felt his face slowly heat up. He didn't even hear the door bell of someone coming in.
"So it's you."
Jimin was brought out of his happy shock, and looked at the man in front of him. He quickly observed him, his feeling of him becoming uneasy.
"Excuse me sir? What exactly do you mean by that? How can I help you today?" Jimin placed a smile on his face. He felt intimidated.
"You're the villain, dare I say soulmate that Jungkook has been seeing." He looked around the shop. "Nice place. Now how about you keep away from him, and I'll keep this place and your identity safe hm?" He smiled sweetly, and Jimin felt his heart throb. Leave Jungkook to save himself? That's selfish...
But...
"Okay..." Jimin looked down, the intimidation never ending.
"Good. Sorry it's blackmail, but Jungkook doesn't know what he's doing. Now I hope we don't see each other again." He watched the man turn around and disappear.
"Ah...the teleporter..he literally just blackmailed me, and expects me to not be with Jungkook? Oh life's gunna get harder..." Jimin spoke to himself, not noticing all of the people who watched their quiet spat.
"Let's just hope he didn't noticed I lied."
