Barbara's POV
"So, Kaldur, what's our-" Dick starts.
"Batman entrusted this assignment to you and Batgirl, Robin. This is your mission to lead." Ha. Dick's gonna be responsible for-
"So, Batgirl, what's our next move?" Oh man. Thanks a lot, Dick.

"Alpha squad will get on to the incoming shipment before it reaches the dock, so M'gann and Kaldur, that's you. Once you're onboard, take out security. Then Delta, you move in using the bio-ship Artemis, you're piloting. Karen and Wally, you join her." Dick instructs. "Meanwhile, Beta will disable Joker and Penguin. Conner, Raquel. And Batgirl, Zatanna and I will track down Scarecrow and release the kids."

"M'gann, can you-" Kaldur starts.
[Link established.] M'gann interrupts.
[And remember, under no circumstances do you remove your mask. We have no idea how powerful this new toxin is.] I say, attaching the clear plastic bubble to my face.

[Zatanna, can you use a tracking spell on Scarecrow?] Dick asks.
[I could try, but it usually only works with mystic energy.] She replies.
[Use it for a concentration of fear gas, then.] I huff.
[Geneflex remains, east Gotham.]
[That place is sealed like a glove. If there's gas in there, there's no releasing it.] Dick sighs. [Okay, Batgirl and I'll confront Scarecrow, Zee, you get the kids out.]

Dick and I don't need words to work. We crawl through an air vent, but we have to follow the blue prints on our holo-computers, because the vent is so full of thick gas.
Dick moves his hand, signalling to split up. I hesitate. He looks me in my eye. "Nu-ți fie frică, te iubesc." He whispers.
"Te iubesc." I whisper back. He pushes my hair back and pulls off my cowl, and kisses me. It'd probably be much better if we weren't squished next to each other in an air vent. And we weren't wearing gas masks. Now go." I whisper, pulling my cowl back on.

This place is way too quiet. Even through my suit, the gas feels cold on my skin. In the corners of each room, some of the gas has liquified, and it drips down the walls, staining it greyish-green.
A huge blow throws me into the wall. What was that? My cowl took most of the hit, but-oh, fudgesticks.
"I was wondering if anyone was coming to stop me." Scarecrow cackles in a clearly edited voice. He hits a baseball bat at my face, shattering my mask and giving me a bloody nose.
Almost instantly I can feel the gas infiltrating my mind. Scarecrow looks so terrifying.
"Get away from me!" I scream, and push myself against the wall. I sink to the floor and curl up.
"Now let's see what you're really afraid of." Tears run down my cheek. "Ooh. Losing your father. Losing Batman." He cackles.
"Please..." I cry. If he brings up...
"But that's not even the worst of it, is it? Robin hating you. Then dying at your hand! Leaving you alone forever!" I shake with sobs.
"Stop..." I cry.
"Batgirl!" A monstrous voice yells from the gas. A caped figure emerges.
"No. Get away from me! I won't let you hurt me!" I scream.
"It's me!" The voice yells again. The figures puts a dome on my mouth and for a minute, I don't think I can breathe. Then the fog clears my brain.
Dick gave his mask to me. No. No. No. I grab his arm.
"Let me go!" He screams.
"It's me." I whisper.
"Please! Don't hurt me!"
[M'gann, get to my coordinates now!] I yell telepathically.
[We've kind of got a problem on our end.] She apologises.
[I can get there.] Wally says.

"Robin, hold on." I whisper. I had to sedate him, to stop him from hurting himself.
"Give him to me, Batgirl." Wally says from behind me. I reluctantly hand him Dick's body.
"Get him outside." I yell. "I'll meet you out there." I kick down the door and start running through corridors.
[Zatanna! Are the kids-]
[The police are taking their statements now.] She interrupts.
[Good. As soon as KF, Rob and I are out of the building, seal all the entrances, understood?] I yell.
[Understood.]

I burst throw the warehouse doors.
"Go go go!" I scream, shoving Wally and Dick out of the door in front of me.
"KF! Follow me, okay?" I jump on my batcycle and start speeding towards the batcave's entrance through an old abandoned tunnel.
"Kaldur, you're in charge!"

"Retinal. Identity. Confirmed. Bat. Girl." The computer says, scanning my eye.
"Code Blue, member down. Allow access, BG5 override." I scream. I shove Wally into the cave entrance.
"Intruder. Alert. Intru-"
"Waynetech BG5 override. Authorise Kid Flash!" I scream. Alfred comes running down the stairs.
"Miss Gordon." Alfred nods, then looks at Wally. "Mr...West."
"Alfred! Get Bruce in here now! I don't care if he's freaking saving the god damn universe!" I yell.
"Wally, get Dick in civilian clothes. You might want to change too. We need to get him to a hospital, now!"
