Chapter 21: Moving in
Hiccup's POV
The sound of loud knocking woke me from my slumber. I let out a groan as I buried my head in the pillow, hoping whoever it was would go away. When the knocking continued, Toothless growled at me to get up.
I complied and rolled out of bed before slowly making my way down the stairs, letting out the occasional yawn on my way down . As I opened the front door, I was blinded by the bright sunlight that shone directly into my eyes, making me pinch the bridge of my nose until my sight went back to normal.
I blinked and was surprised to see a familiar blue eyed blonde in front of me.
"Morning, babe!" Astrid chanted as she pushed past me and skipped into the house, acting unusually chipper.
"What are you doing here so early?" I yawned as I stretched my limbs.
Astrid moved a few baskets to the bottom of the stairs. "Well, after you told me that I could move in whenever I wanted during our walk back home last night, I began thinking and the result is right in front of you!"
"So you're moving in? That's great!" I tried to crack a smile, but found that my face muscles had decided to defy me.
"You can go back to bed if you want, I'll just pack out my stuff" She smiled as she opened one of the baskets she had brought.
"I won't be able to go back to sleep now that I'm already up, so I'll just go get ready instead" I placed a quick kiss on her cheek before making my way up the stairs.
Astrid's POV
"So..." Hiccup began, stuffing breakfast down his throat. "What are you going to do know that you've finished unpacking?"
I shrugged as I hung up one of my axes. "I don't know, I guess I'll just swing by the academy to hang out with the gang or something"
"Huh," Hiccup began. "I suppose I'll see you later then?"
My lips bent up into a smile as I walked over to him and pressed a kiss onto his cheek. "I suppose you will"
"Have fun, and don't do anything I wouldn't do!" Hiccup teased, earning a light punch in the shoulder from me.
"Ha ha, very funny. Bye to you too, Toothless!" I waved at the dragon slurping down his breakfast as I waltzed out the door and over to Stormfly's new stable.
As we landed at the academy, we found the rest of the gang waiting for us. I jumped off Stormfly and walked over to the circle they were sitting in.
"Hi Astrid" They all greeted in unison.
"Hey" I replied.
"So... are you going to tell us why you were at Hiccup's house in the early hours of the morning?" Ruffnut winked as nudged me with her elbow.
I sighed and crossed my arms. "I moved in"
"Wait, WHAT?" Snotlout exclaimed, standing up from his sitting position.
I rolled my eyes at him. "Calm down, we got engaged last night"
"Really? Gods, I'm so excited for you guys!" Fishlegs shrieked as his shoulders sunk like he had just had a heavy weight lifted off them.
"Thank you, I would say we're pretty excited too, aren't we, Astrid?" A familiar voice spoke as he landed in the arena on his night fury.
"Hiccup, What are you doing here? I thought you had work" I asked my new fiancé as he made his way over to the circle.
"I suppose I've realized that I've been ditching you guys a lot lately and just thought that perhaps it would be a good idea to hang out with you all for once" A smile lit up Hiccup's face.
"Wait, I have an idea!" Tuffnut exclaimed, jumping up on his feet. "Let's go to Dragons Edge!"
Agreeing noises filled the circle.
"Then Dragons Edge it is!"

"CHICKEN, SMIDVARG, guess who's back?" Tuffnut yelled as he jumped off Barf and Belch only to begin running around the edge, searching for his pets.
"Huh, I've got to admit, I almost forgot about Smidvarg and Chicken" I slid off Stormfly as I took another look around the edge, which hadn't changed at all since the last time we'd been there.
"WHAT" Tuffnut stopped dead in his tracks and turned around slowly to face me. "You forgot about Smidvarg and Chicken?!"
Tuffnut let out a loud scream as he charged at me, only to be held back by his sister and Snotlout.
Hiccup placed an arm around my shoulder. "Tuff, I'm sure Astrid didn't mean it like that, right Astrid?"
I nodded as I snaked my arm around Hiccup's waist. "No, I didn't. I'm very sorry Tuffnut, will you ever forgive me?"
Ruffnut and Snotlout stepped aside to reveal a surprisingly calm Tuffnut. "Only time will tell, future Mrs. Haddock, only time will tell"
We hung out at the edge the rest of the day. Tuffnut reunited with Smidvarg and Chicken whilst the rest of us walked around the edge, reminiscing about our time there, just like last time.
But as the sun dropped below the sea and the sky grew darker, the Chief in Hiccup came out once more.
"Alright guys, we've had our fun, but I think it's time for us to go back now" Hiccup said as he patted Toothless' head.
Tuffnut looked at him with a raised brow as he gently stroked Chicken's feathers. "The chicken is not amused"
We all burst into laughter, except for Tuffnut, who was too busy having a staring contest with Hiccup.
Upon our return home, Hiccup had to stop by the Meade Hall for some papers whilst I went home with the dragons. After handing Toothless his dinner, I went outside to bring Stormfly her's.
As I reached the top of the stairs leading to our front door, I felt a hand on my shoulder. I spun around and found none other than Gustav Larson standing behind me.
"Gustav, what are you doing here?" I asked the young Viking, looking him up and down to see if he had managed to harm himself in any way.
"Gods, you look so gorgeous tonight, Astrid" Gustav fawned.
I furrowed my brows and took a step back. "Ew, go home, Gustav"
But before I knew what had happened, Gustav's lips had found their way onto mine as his hand was locked in an iron grip around my wrist. Thor, was I nauseous.
Luckily for me, Gustav was suddenly ripped backwards by a strong force.
"Gustav Larson, what in the name of the gods do you think you are doing?" A fuming Hiccup sneered at the teenager. I quickly wiped my mouth clean of Gustav, before turning my focus back to what was unfolding right in front of me.
I noticed Gustav stiffen ever so slightly, before slowly letting his shoulders sink back down. "I can't really say that I am sorry Chief, Astrid is just too gorgeous to not earn my attention"
"Excuse me?" Hiccup's face turned into a deep red as I could practically see the steam shooting out of his ears. "If you EVER touch Astrid like that again, I swear to all of the gods, you won't survive the experience. Now, get out of my sight!"
The Larson boy was shaking and on the verge of tears as he ran away from the furious Chief.
The intense red color faded from Hiccup's face, returning him back to normal as he set his focus back on me. "Are you okay? He didn't do anything more to you?"
"What? No, he didn't do anything other than kiss me, don't kill the poor boy just yet" I shot him a quick smile as I braided my fingers in his.
"Very well, he'll get to live another day then. You ready to catch some shut-eye?" A familiar lopsided grin appeared on his face.
"Always"
