Chapter 29 - Final Chapter

Ash is currently battling Calem for a place in Kalos' Elite 4. So far, Ash has won one battle, drawn one and lost one. This means that currently, the two are tied.

We rejoin the battle as the trainers are about to start their 4th battle.

No one's POV

"Alright, this battle will be between Yveltal and Charizard. Battle Begin!" yelled the referee.

The trainers wasted no time in commanding their respective Pokemon.

"Charizard, fly up!" yelled Ash.

"Follow him!" commanded Calem.

With one mighty flap of his wings, Charizard catapulted himself towards the sky. Yveltal followed suit.

"Turn around and Dragon tail!" screamed Ash.

Charizard immediately flipped over to face Yveltal. His tail started glowing as he started dive bombing towards Yveltal.

"Dark Pulse!!" Calem yelled to his Pokemon.

Yveltal stood its ground and faced Charizard. From the middle of its torso, Yveltal direacted a beam of dark rings towards Charizard.

Calem watched as Charizard started flying straight towards the Dark Pulse.

"Use Dragon Tail now!! Cut right through it!!" commanded Ash.

Charizard did exactly that. He did a somersault so that his tail was facing the Dark Pulse. Charizard then slammed his tail right into the beam of dark energy and started cutting right through it.

Calem and Yveltal watched on helplessly as Charizard cut through the beam like hot knife through butter. Seconds later, Charizard's taii made contact with Yveltal sending it flying towards the ground.

"Yveltal, come on! You can keep going!!" encouraged Calem.

Yveltal heard its trainer's voice. With all its effort, it flapped its wings harder and stabilised itself preventing it from slamming into the ground. The sight caused a smile to grow on Calem's face.

"Great job, Yveltal! Now, Aerial Ace!!"

Yveltal immediately shot up high and did a loop in the air. Before Ash could even command Charizard, Yveltal slammed into him. The sudden force took Charizard by surprise and caused him to slam into the ground. This caused a small dust cloud to rise up.

"Charizard, are you alright!?" asked Ash.

He didn't get any reply. Instead, as the dust started setting, Ash could see a very angry Charizard standing there glaring at Yveltal.

"I know what that look is Charizard. Alright, if you insist..." said Ash as he held his fist out in front of him.

Charizard looked back at his trainer and nodded while grunting. As soon as Ash got the signal, he pressed the mega stone on his ring.

"Charizard, let's do this! Mega Evolve!" yelled Ash.

Immediately, a bright flash surrounded Ash and Charizard. Mega Evolution energy surged between trainer and Pokemon and as the energy dissipated, it left a Mega Charizard X on Ash's side of the battlefield.

Calem watched in awe, however, he smirked a little knowing that he was ready for this.

"Charizard, Blast Burn!" commanded Ash.

Charizard made a fist and it was immediately enveloped in searing flames. He then slammed it down onto the ground. This cause a fiery shockwave to speed towards a stationary Yevltal.

Calem's eyes widened as he immediately made a call.

"Fly up! NOW!" he yelled.

Yveltal heard the urgency in his voice and thrust itself upwards. In mere moments, Yveltal was very high in the sky and way out of Blast Burn's reach.

Calem knew that this was the opening he needed. He had the altitude advantage and Ash had already Mega-evolved his Charizard. Calem looked at Yveltal and smiled. He then commanded it.

"Dragon Rush!"

Yveltal surrounded itself with enormous levels Dragon type energy. The energy itself formed the shape of a Rayquaza-like dragon. Yveltal then bulleted down towards Charizard.

Ash started panicking a little. The sheer size of the Dragon Rush caught Ash by surprise. Ash regained his composure and then commanded Charizard.

"Scared Fire, Charizard!" yelled Ash.

Charizard started emitting multiple blue flames from his mouth. The flames made their way to Yveltal and moments later, they entered the Dragon Rush.

Yveltal's screeches of pain could be heard throughout the stadium. Calem's heart dropped, however, he wanted to encourage Yveltal to do his best.

"Come on Yveltal! You can do it!!" yelled Calem.

Yveltal listened to its trainer's words and pushed itself harder. It got even more focused and flew straight towards Charizard.

The fact that Yveltal was still spearing its way towards Charizard was a big surprise to Ash and Charizard. Ash knew that he had to so something now... anything. Or else, it wouldn't end well for Charizard.

"Charizard, Dragon ta-" Ash started however, stopped himself as he noticed that Dragon Rush had already hit Charizard. The huge dust cloud was covering everything on the battlefield.

"Charizard, NOO!!" yelled Ash.

Ash's hear was beating rapidly as he waited for the dust to settle down. As soon as it did, Ash's heart dropped.

Yveltal was hovering over the field. Right in front of it, laid an unconscious Charizard who ahd reverted back to his original form.

Ash's shoulders slouched as he stared at the sight in front of him. He was taken out of it by the referee's voice.

"Charizard is unable to battle. Yveltal is the winner. If trainer Calem wins again, he will be declared the winner of the match. Please send out your next Pokemon." the referee addresses to both trainers.

Just hearing the referee's words made Ash panic even more. He knew a lot was on the line. He knew he had to win this. He wanted to win this for himself, for his Pokemon and... for Serena.

This raised his spirits a little as he took out his next Pokeball. Calem mirrored Ash actions.

"Greninja, I choose you!" yelled Ash as he tossed Greninja's Pokeball into the air.

"Come on out, Dragonite!" yelled Calem at the same time.

The bipedal Water and Dark type Pokemon shoot there with his arms crossed as he watched the Orange Dragon type roar in front of him.

"Alright, this battle will be between Dragonite and Greninja. Battle begin!" said the referee.

"Alright Greninja, let's go, Water Shuriken!" commanded Ash.

Greninja followed swiftly and fired compressed bladed water at Dragonite. This didn't do much damage, however, it was enough to make Dragonite stumble.

"Dragonite, use steel wing!" commanded Calem.

Dragonite leaped into the air immediately before straightening out its wings and covering them in steel. Dragonite then descended towards Greninja.

"Dodge it!" yelled Ash, however, again, he was too slow. He gritted his teeth as he started feeling guilty about it. He had been too slow with Charizard and now with Greninja.

Greninja was hit by the steel type move. He was launched into the air and landed a couple of meters in front of Ash.

Dragonite went back to his side and stood in front of Calem.

"Now Dragonite, use Dragon Pulse!"

Dragonite immediately opened its mouth and a purple beam of energy shot out. It flew towards a helpless Greninja and before anything could even be said, Greninja was hit again.

Ash watched on as Greninja suffered more and more. He knew he had to do it.

Greninja got on his feet gingerly and looked back at Ash. Ash stared straight back at Greninja and both of them nodded.

"Greninja, let's get stronger." Ash simply stated and immediately, both Ash and Greninja yelled as Greninja covered himself in a torrential veil of water. All the energy of the violent water surrounding Greninja soon was compressed into a large Water Shuriken on Greninja's back.

There stood Ash-Greninja in all his glory.

"We won't let you win! Dragonite, use Steel Wing!" commanded Calem.

Ash knew he had to be quick as last time, he didn't even have a chance to command Greninja.

"Aerial Ace!" Ash yelled.

While Dragonite flew towards Greninja with wings of Steel, Greninja's limbs tarted glowing as he sped towards the onrushing Dragonite. Soon, Greninja's arms made contact with Dragonite's wings. Greninja was slightly gronger and was starting to push Dragonite back. Ash started think of this as an advantage to him, however, Calem had other ideas.

"Now Dragonite, Thunder Punch!" yelled Calem with all his energy.

Ash's eyes widened. He knew that he let his guard hown. He completely forgot that Dragonite still had his arms available.

"Greninja, get o-" Ash started, however, he couldn't finished his sentence as he felt stinging pain on his stomach. That's when he realised that the Thunder Punch had landed on Greninja.

Calem winced as he watched Ash in pain. He didn't want to do it, however, this was the only way for him to battle. He couldn't not hit Greninja.

Ash, however, could only watch on as Greninja collapsed onto the floor. He too started kneeling down.

In the stands, Ash's friends were watching the battle with glum faces. They watched terrified of the possibility that Ash might lose. They were extremely worried for Ash. All of them thought Ash was going to win, however, now, they all started developing doubts. All but one person. Serena.

Serena watched everybody's faces. This caused anger to rise within her. It was almost as if Ash friends didn't believe in Ash's skills as a trainer anymore. No matter what others thought, Serena still believed in Ash. She knew that he had it in him to defeat Calem.

Serena then turned her attention to the battlefield. Her gaze fell upon Ash, and as soon as it did so, she, herself, started frowning.

That look of helplessness was back on his face. It looked like even Ash gave up on himself, however, Serena wasn't going to let that happen.

"ASH!" Serena shouted.

Ash's head flicked towards Serena to see her standing up on her seat and making a funnel using her hands to amplify her voice.

"Don't give up until the end!!" she yelled while giving him a little fist pump. She also had a confident smile on her face.

Ash watched her in awe. Just looking at Serena seemed to have filled Ash will all the energy that he had needed. He felt his morale boost up as he started getting back on his feet again. He watched as Serena's smile turned into a sweet one as she gave him a nod, signalling that she believed that he could beat Calem.

That was exactly what Ash needed. Some inspiration. He needed to be reminded why he was battling here. The reason? Well, the reason was her. He was determined to win this now.

"Greninja, come on! Get up!" Ash encouraged.

Hearing his trainer so fired up, Greninja himself started getting into it. He got even more pumped up for the battle as he sprang to his feet.

Calem watched as Ash discovered this new found energy that inspired him to fight harder.

"Dragonite, we need to be more careful now!" he warned his Pokemon.

Dragonite grunted in acknowledgement.

"Flamethrower!" Calem commanded.

Without a second of hesitation, Dragonite opened its mouth and spewed an inferno that made its way towards Greninja.

"Use your Water Shuriken to protect yourself!" instructed Ash.

Greninja obliged and took his Water Shuriken off of his back and held it out in front of him. As soon as the Flamethrower made contact with the Shuriken... nothing happened. The Flamethrower was stopped in its tracks.

Dragonite and Calem watched on as the Flamethrower attach stopped and Greninja stood there unharmed while holding the Water Shuriken like a sword.

"Slam that Shuriken into the ground!" commanded Ash.

Greninja had no idea what Ash was planning, however, he knew he could trust Ash. Greninja then slammed into into the ground. This caused a large explosion resulting in a multitude of rocks to fly high into the air.

Calem and Dragonite just watched on as they had no idea what Ash was planning.

"Now, jump into the air and use Aerial Ace on those rocks. Send them towards Dragonite."

Again, without wasting any time, Greninja did exactly that. He jumped over the locks and started sending them towards Dragonite.

Calem's eyes widened in horror.

"Rock Tomb..." he whispered to himself as he watched the rocks make their way towards Dragonite. That's when he realised that he had to give Dragonite a command.

"Get out of there, Dagonite!!" yelled Calem.

Dragonite flapped its wings furiously in order to get out of the attack's away, but to no avail. The rocks were travelling way too fast to dodge. They hit Dragonite with immense force causing the Pokemon to go crashing down to the floor.

The sheer force caused a lot of dust to build up on top of the battlefield. As the dust settled, the battlefield could be seen littered with rocks. Somewhere near the center, an Orange dragon was lying down with swirly eyes.

Calem let out a sigh of relief after seeing that Dragonite wasn't badly hurt.

"Dragonite is unable to battle. Greninja is the winner. Trainers, please send out your final Pokemon!" instructed the referee.

Calem returned Dragonite and thanks it for its efforts.

Greninja too revered back to his normal self. The exhaustion caused both Ash and Greninja to sit down on the floor.

"Greninja, buddy, you were amazing!" said Ash as he gave Greninja a hi-five.

"Ninjaa!" replied Greninja happily in response to his trainer's complement.

"Alright, return!" said Ash happily as he returned Greninja back to his Pokeball.

Ash just stood there momentarily, not doing a thing.

Around the stadium, everybody was in awe. That little moment of sheer brilliance by Ash blew everybody's mind away. Nobody knew that Rock Tomb could be created that way. It was amazing to see it happen.

Now, moving on from that feeling, everybody was restless. Nobody had even seen Ash's 6th Pokemon before. They couldn't wait to see it.

Even in the stands, all of Ash's friends were restless.

"Come on Ashy-boy! Just show us already!!" yelled Gary in frustration.

"Is he doing this on purpose!?" asked Misty angrily.

Dawn, May, Drew etc. too had something to say.

Serena, however, giggled at her friends' reactions. She watched as they all stared at the Raven Haired boy with a piercing gaze, asking him, begging him, to hurry up.

Back on the battlefield, the referee spoke up again.

"This time, you guys don't have to release your Pokemon at the exact same time as both of you are down to your final Pokemon." he stated.

Calem nodded and immediately took out a Masterball.

"Alright Mewtwo, let's win!" he yelled confidently as he threw the Masterball into the air.

Mewtwo silently materialised in front of Calem and hovered about the ground staring at Ash.

Ash smiled at the sight of the powerful Pokemon. He then reached into his pocket and pulled out an emblem. It was a golden, circular emblem with four prongs sticking out.

Ash held it up in front of him. Calem gasped at the sight of it.

"Arceus..." he whispered to himself.

Ash walked onto the battlefield and placed the emblem onto the ground. He then walked back to his stand and faced forward.

"I choose you..." Ash said calmly.

As soon as he said that, a blinding beam of light shot out of the center of the emblem and extended high into the sky, as far as the eye could see. The beam seemed to pierce the clouds and reach the heavens.

Everybody in the stadium was completely silent. They watched the spectacle in amazement.

Soon, a rumbling sound could be heard. At first, it sounded distant, however, over time, it got louder and louder. That's when everybody realised that the source of the noise was coming from the sky. It was coming from the the direction the beam was firing towards.

Suddenly, en even brighter flash appeared in the sky causing everybody to shield their eyes. Even though everybody wanted to see what was going on, they physically couldn't. The light was simply too bright. That, however, wasn't the case for long. Soon, the light dimmed up and eventually vanished. That's when everybody opened their eyes. As soon as that happened, everybody's jaws dropped. The sight right in front of them was too much to process.

Right there, in the middle of the battlefield, the Alpha Pokemon stood proudly. The Pearl while body with the golden emblem around its stomach along with the black underbelly made the Pokemon look absolutely majestic. The sheer size of the Pokemon was also something to marvel at.

Arceus stood there, hovering in the moddle of the battlefield while looking at Ash.

"Ash, it has been an awfully long time." he stated.

"It sure has, Arceus!" Ash responded casually.

This caused everybody to stare at Ash in shock. It was already incredible that Ash could summon Arceus, but talking to him like he was just another friend? That was what blew them away.

"I understand that you want me to battle?" asked Arceus.

"If it isn't too much trouble, then yes please." said Ash, however, this time, formally.

"Of course! I haven't had a good battle in a really long time!" stated Arceus with excitement evident in his voice.

"Now, command me like one of your own Pokemon!" said Arceus.

Ash was a bit hesitant, however, he agreed.

The referee then spoke up.

"A-Alright. This batt-le will be between A-Arceus and Mewtwo. Battle B-Begin!" he yelled nervously.

It must be a privilege for him to be the referee for such an amazing battle.

Calem watched the Pokemon in front of him and gulped. He started getting doubts. That's when Mewtwo turned around to face Calem. Mewtwo gave Calem a comforting look and nodded. This boosted Calem's own confidence. He then put on a comfortable smile and commenced an attack.

"Mewtwo, Psychic!" yelled Calem.

Mewtwo used its Psychic powers and directed them towards Arceus. When it felt like it had a good hold on the Alpha Pokemon, it started trying to lift it up, however, Mewtwo's eyes widened in horror to find Arceus not budging an inch.

"W-What's happening?" asked Calem.

Psychic was supposed to work no matter what. He couldn't under stand why it didn't work.

Ash then answered Calem's question.

"I'm sorry that I'm having to do this to you Calem... but it is Arceus' ability. Multitype." stated Ash.

"Multitype?" asked Calem while raising an eyebrow.

"Yeah. In other words, Arceus can change its type to the plate it is currently holding." Ash stated.

Calem gulped at the sound of that. It was a truly terrifying ability.

"S-So which plate he it h-holding now?" he asked cautiously.

"All of them." Ash replied nonchalantly.

"WHAT!?" asked Calem.

"That's why I apologised earlier. Now... well... Arecus can change its type at will." Ash stated.

Calem was cornered, however, he wasn't about to give up now. He was one of the very few people in the history of the whole universe who got to battle Arceus... so he was going to give it his all.

"No matter, Mewtwo, let's do our best!" yelled Calem as he lifted his wrist above him.

Mewtwo copied its trainer's movements.

Calem then pressed on the Key Stone and Mega Evolution energy immediately engulfed the two. As soon as the energy dissipated, a Mega Mewtwo Y stood on the other side of the field.

"Ohh, a Mega Mewtwo Y!" exclaimed Arceus happily.

"Mewtwo, Fire Blast!" yelled Calem.

Mewtwo created a ball of fire between its hands and launched it. The ball opened out to 大 shape and hit Arceus. Calem knew that nothing was immune to Fire Type moves and the fact that this was a very powerful Fire Type move meant that it should have done a lot of damage, however, to Calem's and Mewtwo's misfortune, Arceus stood there without a scratch.

"H-How?" asked Calem.

"Arceus probably switched to a Water and Rock type." stated Ash.

"Now, Arceus, use Dark Pulse!" commanded Ash.

Arceus immediately rotated its neck to face Mewtwo and shot a beam of dark rings at Mewtwo at immeasurable speeds. The move made contact in no time and threw Mewtwo backwards.

Calem was extremely worried as the super-effective move had made a direct hit.

"Mewtwo, are you OK?" asked Calem.

Slowly, but surely, Mewtwo got back on its feet and started levitating again.

"Alright, use Fire Blast again!" yelled Calem.

Mewtwo obeyed and launched a Fire Blast at Arceus. Again, it made contact, however, it did little to no damage.

"Arceus, I think that it is time to end this now. Use Judgement!" Ash commanded confidently.

Calem gulped and watched as Arceus levitated higher and craned its neck up to face the sky. Arceus then started forming a glowing golden orb on top of its head. After deeming that the size was large enough, Arceus released the orb high into the sky.

Everybody in the stadium watched on in amazement as the orb flew higher and higher into the sky until it suddenly exploded sending glowing meteors down towards the battlefield.

Everybody watched the beautiful display in awe. It looked like fireworks. Everybody was enjoying the view. Well... everybody but Calem and Mewtwo.

"Mewtwo, dodge them!" Calem commanded.

Mewtwo started frantically dodging the falling objects. It was doing well, however, the move was too powerful. There were too many falling meteors, and surely enough, Mewtwo got hit.

A rogue meteor had slammed into Mewtwo slamming it into the ground. As soon as that happened, Arceus stopped Judgement. Arceus, along with everybody else, watched on as the dust started settling.

Calem's and Ash's hearts were in their mouths. They knew that if Mewtwo was down, Ash would be crowned an Elite 4 on the spot.

Calem didn't mind that. He just wanted to keep battling Ash. He didn't want Mewtwo to be out already.

Soon, the dust settled and the result of the strike was open for the world to see.

As soon as Mewtwo come into sight, Serena shot up, sharted crying tears of Joy and ran through the stadium towards Ash.

Ash grew a massive grin on his face and he looked at Arceus and have him a thumbs-up. Arceus just chuckled.

Calem watched as his Mewtwo was there on the ground, completely unconscious and reverted back to its normal self. She have a sigh of contentment.

"Mewtwo is unable to battle. Arceus is the winner. Therefore, this match goes to Ash Ketchum!" yelled the referee. You could sense the excitement in his voice... probably caused by the adrenaline running through his body.

"I'll be leaving now Ash. Congratulations!" said Arceus as he started disappearing.

"Thank you for your help Arceus." said Ash sincerely.

"No problem, Ash. If you need me again, just summon me and I'll be there." said Arceus.

Ash nodded as he watched Arceus disappear. He then walked to the middle of the battlefield to collect Arceus' emblem.

Calem had returned Mewtwo already and walked to the middle of the battlefield. He watched as Ash picked the emblem up and stood in front of him.

"That was a great battle Ash! The next time we meet, let's have another one!" said Calem. He was excited by the idea of battling Ash again. It had been an amazing experience for him.

"Sure Calem, we'll definitely battle again soon." replied Ash.

Calem then noticed something behind Ash. He looked at Ash and then smirked.

"Well, I'll get going now. You two have fun!" said Calem deviously.

"Wha-" Ash started, however, was immediately cut off by a voice behind him.

"ASH!!" the voice stated.

Ash's eyes widened and a huge grin grew on his face. He turned around.

"Hey Sere-mmm"

Ash was cut off by Serena passionately kissing Ash.

She pulled back and smiled brightly at him.

"You did it!! I knew you could do it!!" she said excitedly as she hugged him tightly.

Serena didn't care that people could see her. She was ecstatic because of Ash victory.

Ash immediately hugged back.

"Yeah, I did... and it's all thanks to you!" he stated as he tried to express his gratitude.

"Huh?" ashed Serena.

"If you hadn't shouted those words of encouragement towards me during the middle of that battle, I might have lost. So... thank you!" said Ash sincerely.

"Oh, Ash..." said Serena. She was about to say something else, however, was interrupted by someone else.

"Hello, Ash... and Kalos Queen!" stated a woman who was all too familiar with the two.

"Diantha?" asked Serena slightly surprised.

"I'm sorry Serena, I just needed to talk you you boyfriend over here." she stated while smirking.

Serena blushed at Diantha's words. Even though it was true, it still caused her to blush.

"Alright, I'll leave you guys alone..." she said sounding disappointed. She wanted to spend more time with Ash, but she knew that Diantha probably wanted to talk to Ash about the Elite 4.

Serena turned around to walk away, however was stopped by Diantha.

"You can stay. This won't take long." said Diantha with a warm smile.

Serena's face lit up as a beaming smile placed itself on her lips.

Diantha then turned towards Ash.

"I need to keep it short Ash. I need to be somewhere else right now." she started.

Ash gave all his attention to the words she was about to say next.

"So, Ash Ketchum, I hereby grant you a place in the Kalos Region's Elite 4. You will be the immediate successor of Calem Xavier and will take your post as Kalos' 4th Elite 4." she said.

Ash's smile had only widened as she said that.

"Thank you, Diantha!" he exclaimed happily.

"No problem, Ash. I'll be waiting for your challenge!" said Diantha as she winked at Ash and started walking away.

Serena squealed as she lunged at Ash and gave him a bone-crushing hug.

"I am so proud of you!!" she yelled as she started planting kisses all over his face.

Soon, Ash met all of his friends. The academic year at KIT had finally finished and everybody was free to go home.

Gary and Misty were heading back to Kanto. May and Drew were going back to Hoenn while Paul, Dawn, Kenny and Barry were heading back to Sinnoh.

Clemont's home was in Lumiose City so he didn't really have to move.

Serena had to stay in Kalos to fulfil her duties as the Kalos Queen.

Serena was upset by the fact that she had to stay in Kalos while almost all her friends were going away. She would feel lonely. What depressed her even more was the fact that Ash was probably going back too.

She had a frown plastered on her face and Ash noticed this.

"Hey Serena, what's wrong?" he asked frowning a little.

Serena didn't want to worry Ash though. She wanted him to go back to his mom feeling happy instead of worrying about her.

"Oh, it's nothing Ash." she said while faking a smile.

"Why d-don't you go pack y-yor bags?" she asked. Her voice was breaking a little.

Ash then realised why she was upset.

"Huh? What are you talking about? I'm staying in Kalos. I have some plans here for Summer." he said calmly.

Serena's head immediately flicked towards Ash.

"Really!?" she almost shouted.

Ash backed up a little because of the sudden mood change.

"Yeah, really!" Ash replied while smiling at her.

"So... you're not busy right now?" she asked him while the smile on her face grew wider and wider.

"No, not really." said Ash as he smiled at her.

"Why? Do you have any plans?" he asked.

"Well... there is this really nice restaurant in Laverre City. I've been wanting to go there for such a long time now. Can we go Ash? Please?" she asked as she clasped her hands together under her chin while giving him puppy-dog eyes.

Ash cluckled at Serena's behaviour.

"Of course! Lets go!" he said happily.

Serena jumped as she bubbled with excitement.

"Alright!!" she exclaimed happily as she grabbed Ash's wrist and started bolting out of the battlefield.

"Woah, Serena, slow down a little!" said Ash as he tried to find his footing.

"Nope!" Serena giggled as the two ran out of the stadium.

Ash watched the girl in front of him as she dragged him through the streets.

That smile on her face was all that he needed to see to be happy. She was beautiful inside and outside. Ash felt so incredibly lucky to have her by his side. He couldn't wait to spend the rest of summer with her.

As the two ran under the evening sky, Ash could help but think to himself.

'This is going to be a great summer!'
