Chapter 27
It is now morning. The two were very exhausted from yesterday's events. They were sleeping peacefully without a worry in the world.
We join Ash and Serena as they are abruptly woken up.
No one's POV
A high pitched squeal was heard that awoke both Ash and Serena.
Ash rubbed his eyes and opened them. As soon as he did so, he was met with the sight of Serena who was yawning on his upper arm.
Ash then looked around for the source of the high pitched noise. He slowly shuffled himself to turn around. Upon doing so, his eyes widened and he immediately fore.
Standing there with the biggest grin plastered on her face, was Dawn. She was staring at Ash and Serena who were still in the bed together.
Ash gulped. He couldn't think of anything to do.
Serena too shuffled awake. She remembered the night she shared with Ash and a smile grew on her face. She lifted her head up, however, as soon as she did so, she gasped so hard that her throat dried up.
As soon as she saw Dawn, she immediately started yelling.
"What are you doing here!??" she asked while covering herself.
Dawn giggled like a madwoman as she watched the flustered faces of Ash and Serena.
Their clothes were all over the room's floor. It was clear to Dawn that the night they had was quite... intense.
"GET OUT!!" yelled Serena.
"Ok, Ok! I will. I just came here to wake you up... It's 8:10 you know?" she replied while giggling.
Dawn then turned around to walk away, however, Serena spoke up again.
"And don't you dare tell anyone about what you saw!!" warned Serena.
Dawn turned back around to face Serena. She looked at Ash, who was still dumbfounded, and then looked at Serena as she smirked.
"Hmm..." she started, pretending to think.
"...please?" squeaked Serena.
Dawn playfully rolled her eyes and then replied.
"Fiiine... just hurry up and get ready!" she replied happily as she exited their room.
After that, there was a bit of silence. Neither Ash, nor Serena know what to make of Dawn's actions.
After a relatively awkward start to the morning, Ash and Serena soon returned to their normal selves. Ash released Pikachu from his pokeball. He had been in the Pokeball since yesterday morning and Ash had forgotten to release him. This earned Ash a healthy dose of Pikachu's thunderbolt. Soon though, they started talking and laughing like nothing had happened. Almost as if nothing had changed... and they were glad that it was like that.
It's never really good when people change just after they get into a relationship. They just aren't the same person you fell for.
For Ash and Serena, it was just another day. They knew that they would be spending the day together and nothing could come in between them now.
After getting ready, the two started walking towards the cafeteria hand-in-hand with Pikachu perched atop Ash's shoulder. Nothing needed to be said. It was a comfortable silence.
The two were admiring the scenery as they walked.
It was finally the start of summer. It was a relatively hazy morning. They walked along the path as the golden streaks of sunlight penetrated through the lush canopies of the uniformly planted trees creating a mystical atmosphere.
The gentle morning breeze was clean and refreshing. The soothing cries of various types of Pokemon could be heard from the trees. The tranquil walk was exactly what Ash and Serena needed after all that had happened.
The two walked along the isolated path, enjoying every moment of it. They, honestly, couldn't be happier at that moment.
Soon, through, they arrived at the cafeteria.
Ash and Serena went to get their breakfast.
Serena got some salad while Ash got a full English Breakfast, but without the tea. He preferred mango juice, especially since summer had started.
They then made their way to the table.
Everybody was there today and they were all waiting for Ash and Serena to arrive. Gary had been especially worried. He hadn't seen Ash since their little confrontation in the classroom yesterday. This morning, he realised that Ash's door was broken and he wasn't in his room. As his childhood friend, Gary wanted to make sure Ash was alright.
When Gary saw Ash and Serena coming towards the table with huge smiles plastered on their faces, Gary instinctively smiled. Seeing them happy made Gary happy.
"Ashy-boy!! You're finally here!!" yelled Gary.
Ash looked over towards Gary, smiled and then waved.
"Where were you? You weren't in your room!" said Gary as he waited for Ash to reply.
Dawn immediately started giggling. This caught everybody's attention while Ash and Serena glared at Dawn while blushing.
Gary, however, noticed this. He put 2 and 2 together, and as realisation dawned upon him, he started bellowing.
"NO WAY!!" he yelled as he started laughing uncontrollably.
Even though everybody else was still in the dark, Ash wanted Gary to shut up as he didn't want anybody else to know. Ash glared at Gary and then signaled Pikachu.
Pikachu jumped off of Ash's shoulder and stood in front of Gary with his cheeks sparking. This caused Gary to stop abruptly.
"Thanks buddy!" said Ash as he put his tray of food down on the table. Serena sat opposite him as usual.
Breakfast was normal, however, both Ash and Serena noticed Dawn and Gary giving them knowing looks while smirking at them. It was uncomfortable to say the least, but that didn't hold them back. They conversed normally and enjoyed their breakfast.
After breakfast, they stayed at the back of the group and walked comfortably to class.
As soon as they entered the class, everybody's gaze fell on Ash. To everybody else, yesterday was a mystery. Nobody really knew what happened between Ash, Serena, Calem, Shauna and Miette, however, nobody decided to bring it up, which was a huge relief to Ash and Serena.
In the classroom, Calem, Shauna and even Miette were happy to see Ash and Serena back to their old selves. Miette was a bit upset that she couldn't be with Ash, however, she didn't want to risk breaking Ash again. She, therefore, promised herself that she would try to get over him.
The classes went normally. Most lessons were revision lessons as the exams were nearing. Soon, it was lunch time.
Ash was about to walk out of the classroom when he heard a voice call him back.
"Ash!"
That voice was music to Ash's ears. He smiled brightly while turning around to look at her.
"Yes Serena?" he replied.
"Do you want to eat under the tree today?" she asked.
"Yeah, of course! Let me get my lunch first!" said Ash as he span around. He was ready to run off, however, Serena grabbed his wrist.
"I've got it right here!" said Serena as she held up her box of macarons while smiling sweetly at him.
Ash's eyes lit up at the sight.
"Let's go then!" yelled Ash enthusiastically as he dragged Serena through the school. They reached the tree and sat under the shade.
"Here, Ash! Let's eat." said Serena as she opened the box and pushed them towards Ash.
Ash happily obliged and started stuffing himself with macarons. He insisted that Serena ate some too. He was hungry, however, he didn't want to eat it all by himself. The two sat there eating the macarons and talking.
Serena then started thinking a little. She wanted to know what the future was going to hold for herself and for Ash. She decided to ask Ash about his future first.
"So... what's next?" asked Serena.
"What do you mean by that?" asked a relatively puzzled Ash.
"I mean, what are you planning to do next? After your battle with Calem?" she asked.
Ash had everything planned out.
"If I win against Calem, I wi-" shated Ash, however, was cut off by Serena.
"When." stated Serena.
"Huh?" asked Ash as he was confused by what Serena meant.
"When you win against Calem." corrected Serena.
Ash just gave her a cheesy grin.
"Alright, alright. When I win against Calem, I'll challenge Diantha. I'll try to be the Kalos Champion!" said Ash brimming with confidence.
Serena was in awe of Ash's ambitious goal, however, she knew very well that Ash was more than capable.
"And I'll support you all the way!" said Serena as she smiled at him.
Suddenly, a thought crossed Serena's mind.
"Ash, who is your 6th Pokemon? So far, in training, Greninja has been your strongest. I don't think there's anyone stronger.." said Serena as she looked at Ash with eyes full of curiosity.
Ash just chuckled.
"Do you really want to know?" asked Ash.
A grin broke out on Serena's face as she vigorously nodded her head.
Ash looked around to make sure that no one was near. Once he made sure that the coast was clear, he faced Serena and then started talking.
"Well, I need to begin by saying that the 6th Pokemon isn't actually my Pokemon." he started.
"Huh? What do you mean by that?" asked Serena. She was confused as to how Ash could use a Pokemon that didn't belong to him.
"Well, this Pokemon is a very good friend of mine that I met a while back. I can call upon it whenever I need to. It promised me that it would always be there for me no matter how big or small the task." said Ash while grinning.
"B-But, why? Why would a Pokemon promise that?" she asked, still intrigued by the relationship between Ash and this Pokemon.
"It's because I saved this Pokemon's life a very long time ago." replied Ash while stifling a laughter.
'It was a very long time ago indeed.' he thought to himself.
"Ohh! Well... that makes sense!" stated Serena.
"So... who is this Pokemon than?" she asked. She couldn't wait to find out.
Ash couldn't take any chances. He motioned Serena to come closer to him and then he whispered the Pokemon's name to Serena.
Upon revelation, Serena's eyes widened as she quickly flicked her head to look at Ash.
"WHAT!? AR-" she started, however was immediately cut off by Ash putting his hand over her mouth.
"SHHH!! Don't tell anyone!" she whisper-yelled.
Serena sat there processing the fact that Ash had the ability to use such a powerful Pokemon in battle. She soon recovered though.
"Why can't I tell anybody?" she asked.
Ash knew that the question was coming.
"Well, if that information gets into the wrong hands, yours, mine and everybody else's lives could be in danger. There are people out there who ruthlessly kill innocent people just to have control and power over these powerful Pokemon." stated Ash with a serious voice.
Just the tone of Ash's voice sent shivers down Serena's spine. She could tell that Ash was being very cautious with this whole situation.
"Don't worry Ash, I won't tell a single soul!" stated Serena.
"Oh, you don't have to worry about people in the KIT. I just want the Pokemon to be surprise to them. I don't want you to reveal this information to anyone outside the KIT, OK?" he asked.
Serena smiled and nodded signalling that she understood.
"So, are you using it against Calem?" she asked.
"Only if I have to." he replied.
Soon, the bell rang and they returned to their classes.
The rest of the day went pretty normally. AT the end of the day, the two went into the forest and trained to their heart's content. Just like usual, they sat there watching the sunset after training. Serena had really liked Honeysuckle nectar so that two sat there watching the sunset while drinking the nectar. There were a lot of Honeysuckles growing in that forest so they could drink as much nectar as they wanted. After the sun had finally set and the starts started twinkling with all their glory, Ash and Serena headed back to their dorms. They ate dinner and fell asleep.
This continued for days which turned into weeks; which turned into months.
2 months later, they had finished their exams. It was now the final day of the academic year. The day of Ash and Calem's third battle. It was also going to be Calem's final battle on Kalosian soil for a very long time as he was supposed to fly over to Alola, with Shauna, in less than a week's time.
Ash and Serena are in Ash's locker room. Serena is sitting next to Ash while Ash is eating macarons.
"So, Ash, are you sure you're ready? Do you have all the right Pokemon with you? Do you have a strategy to beat Calem? Have you healed all your Pokemon after yesterday;s training session? What ha-" Serena started, however, was cut off by Ash.
Ash chuckled.
"Serena, just relax. I've sorted everything out. I know what to do." he replied while giving her a confident smile.
Serena sighed. She was worrying a bit too much and she knew that. She too giggled.
"You're right Ash! Now show them how strong you are!" she said while fist pumping.
"I will!" declared Ash.
"Trainers, please make your way to the battlefield!" blared the tannoy system.
"Alright Serena, I'm off!" said Ash as he turned around and started walking towards the battlefield.
"Wait Ash, you forgot something!" yelled Serena as she grabbed Ash's hand.
Ash turned around and started talking.
"Huh? What did I forg-" started Ash.
However, he was immediately cut off as Serena pressed her lips against his. She then pulled back.
"A good luck kiss." replied a blushing Serena who was smiling sweetly at Ash.
Ash stood there processing what just happened. Soon a smile grew on his face.
"With that, I definitely can't lose!" said Ash enthusiastically as he fist pumped the air.
Serena giggled at Ash's response.
"Good luck Ash! I'll be cheering you on from the stands!" exclaimed Serena as she walked towards the stands.
Ash smiled, nodded and then headed towards the battlefield.
As soon as he walked out, he was met with the deafening noise of the roaring spectators. Across the field, he could see Calem standing there with a confident look on his face. Ash then looked around in the hopes of finding Serena... and he did. He spotted her walking towards an empty seat beside Dawn. Ash then set his sights back on the battlefield.
The referee walked up to the side of the battlefield and started talking.
"Alright trainers, this will be a 6-on-6 battle. However, the rules are slightly different as per Mr Goodshow's request." stated the referee.
This caught both Ash's and Calem's attention. Neither trainer was aware of this rule change.
"Although it is a 6-on-6 battle, when one side loses a battle, both sides have to change Pokemon. This means that both sides have to use all 6 of their Pokemon. Both sides have to release their Pokemon at the same time. This is to prevent you from choosing a Pokemon with a type advantage." stated the referee.
"Furthermore, if both sides end up with 3 wins each, the battle will move onto a 3-on-3 battle with the same rules. Understood?" finished the referee.
Although it was a lot to take in, both Ash and Calem understood the rules. The trainers nodded.
These rules were designed to test how a trainer would perform under unfavourable conditions. It also tested the strength and resilience of the Pokemon themselves, and it also tested the trainers' luck.
"In that case, please release your first Pokemon!" yelled the referee.
Calem took out a Pokeball and so did Ash.
"Go!" yelled Calem and Ash at the same time.
While Calem's Pokeball splitted open and its contents started materialising, Ash's didn't. Instead, Pikachu jumped onto the battlefield. The Pokeball Ash was holding was Pikachu's Pokeball.
On Calem's side of the field, Calem's own starter Pokemon materialised. Chesnaught.
"Alright, this battle will be between Chesnaught and Pikachu. Battle begin!"
End of Chapter 27.
Alright, as you can tell, these are some of the final chapters of the book.
I'm sorry that this chapter is shorter than my other ones. I had to end it there.
Now, I need to ask you guys:
What kind of battle descriptions do you want? Do you want it to be like the first battle where I spend 3-4 chapters on one match? Or do you want me to summarise everything, sort of like I did with their second battle?
Well, thanks for reading this guys. I hope you enjoyed it.
Thank you for all your support!
I'll see you guys in the next chapter!
