Chapter 25

Serena has had a very difficult day, and so has Ash. The two longed to see each other again from the moment Ash got into that car this morning. Both had regrets regarding the manner in which they parted, and both of them were now given a second chance. A chance to set everything right.

We join Ash and Serena as they reunite at the end of the day.

No one's POV

"A-Ash?" asked Serena as she started standing up.

"Phew, I thought you forgot me again!" joked Ash.

However, hearing that, Serena immediately frowned and Ash noticed.

"I-I'm sorry, Serena. I didn't mean to-" Ash started however, he was cut off.

Serena immediately leaped at him and hugged him tightly, almost as if she was scared that he would leave again if she didn't. She stuffed her face into Ash's shoulder and tightly clenched her hands on the back of Ash's shirt.

Ash was initially taken aback, however, he too wrapped his arms around her and stroked her hair as he returned the hug.

The moment felt right to both of them. Everything that was missing before felt as if it was immediately replaced.

Serena still couldn't believe what was happening. She still felt like she was dreaming, and if it was, she didn't want to wake up. She was overflowing with happiness because Ash was there. He hadn't left after all. She was so happy and so relieved that her eyes started leaking tears of joy.

Ash could feel his shirt becoming wet. He immediately frowned, unaware of the situation.

"Serena?" he started.

Serena realised that Ash must have felt her tears. She immediately broke the hug and wiped her cheeks. She then gave Ash a teary eyed grin with a deep blush on her cheeks.

"Everything's fine, Ash!" she expressed jollily.

Ash smiled at Serena before he lifted the flowers so that they were in Serena's line of sight. Serena gasped at the sight of the flowers. She then squinted her eyes, showing she was deep in thought trying to remember their names.

"We saw then a couple of months ago..." she started.

Ash immediately frowned. He was hoping she would remember then from the summer camp, but being proved wrong was slightly painful.

Serena was still deep in thought, that was until something clicked. Her eyes shot open and a smile set on her face.

"Honeysuckers!" she yelled out.

Ash immediately burst out into laughter. Just hearing that word again made him happy.

Serena gave Ash a puzzled look.

"What's wrong? Why're you laughing?" she asked while cocking her head to one side.

"You haven't changed a bit. You're still making the same mistake!" said Ash after he managed to suppress his laughter.

"Huh?" asked Serena, still confused.

Ash shook his head and handed the flowers to Serena while correcting her.

"Honeysuckles, Serena." he said with a smile.

Serena blushed in embarrassment, however, she couldn't understand why she had said 'honeysuckers' instead. She took the flowers and started sniffing them.

"They smell great, Ash!" she stated.

She then turned to took at Ash, who seemed to stare at her expectantly.

"Ash, are you alright?" she asked.

After waiting  bit, Ash frowned and then started talking?

"Don't you remember?" he asked in a quiet tone.

As soon as Ash said that, she knew that these flowers had something to do with her childhood. She stressed herself to think very hard. She tried to find the memories associated with then. After a couple of moments, he eyes widened and a grin grew on her face.

She faced Ash as she took one flower. She pinched the bottom of the flower off and pulled it out revealing a small string inside the body of the flower. She slowly pulled the string out. At the tip of the string, was a small drop of flower nectar. Serena quickly drank the nectar and smiled at Ash.

Ash watched the scene unfold in front of him in amazement. He was really hoping she would remember it... and she did.

"I remember doing this in Summer Camp!" she exclaimed happily while giving Ash a big, bright smile. Her eyes widened again, almost as if she remembered something else.

"And I used to always call them Honeysuckers!" she yelled happily, now understanding why she made that mistake initially.

Ash laughed momentarily, before he started.

"That's great, Serena!" Ash replied cheerfully as he grinned back at her.

As Ash was looking at Serena, he spotted something. There was a blue ribbon tied under her collar. Ash pointed at the ribbon and started talking.

"Serena, you used it?" he asked.

Serena looked at the ribbon and placed a had atop it.

"Yeah, I wanted it to be a reminder of you and all the good times we shared." she started. She looked up at Ash and continued.

"I guess now, instead of a reminder, it can be a symbol." she finished with a bright smile. A fain blush was evident on her face.

"Thank you, Serena. It looks great on you." started Ash with a warm smile.

"Thank you, Ash." she stated while giggling.

She then sat down and Ash sat beside her as they faced the sun.

The two then sat there drinking more nectar off of the flowers. The watched the sun go down, and the stars come out. Just like always, no words needed to be said. It was a comfortable silence, and that's how they preferred it.

Today, however, Serena had a lot going through her mind. She remembered how bitter she was feeling about herself this morning. The regret was slowly eating away at her. She needed to tell Ash everything now. She was given another chance. It was the perfect moment as no one was around. She felt like it was the right time too, so she started.

"Ash, I have to tell you something."

Ash twisted his neck to face Serena. He didn't say anything. Serena took this as a cue to continue.

"Ash, from the very first day I saw you at KIT, I felt something special. It felt like I knew you from somewhere and well... it turned out to be true. You were that one boy who filled that little part of my childhood with joy and happiness. You were there when I needed a friend in that Summer Camp. We made some amazing memories and lived though some memorable moments during that Summer Camp... and it was all thanks to you, Ash. So, thank you." started Serena. Her speech was full of sincerity.

Ash was caught off guard. He hadn't expected Serena to talk about the summer camp at all. He sat that staring at Serena in shock.

Serena was staring up at the sky as she continued talking.

"I'm so sorry. I'm sorry that I forgot about those moments we had. I'm sorry that you had to live through the pain and trouble of finding me while I lived life like nothing had happened. I'm sorry that I couldn't recognise you even though you were right in front of me this whole time. I'm sorry that I broke out promise... I'm sorry that I forgot about you." she said with a voice full of sorrow. Tears were rolling down her cheeks as she felt guilt overtake her.

Ash didn't know how to respond. He was still staring at Serena with his jaw dropped. Serena, however, wiped her cheeks and put on a confident expression before continuing.

"But... I'm here now. I remember you now." she started. She hesitated a little and a blush started to flourish on her face. She took a deep breath before continuing.

"I have to confess that I had a crush on you. I really liked you in that summer camp. You made me so happy, it was just such an amazing feeling." stated Serena.

As soon as Serena, said that, Ash's eyes widened and a massive grin broke out on Ash face, however, before he could even say anything, Serena started again. This time, however, she had a frown on her face.

"But... I'm sorry Ash. That crush died away over time. Not seeing you for over 10 years meant that the feeling that I had for you faded away slowly. I'm so sorry that you're having to hear this..." stated Serena with a frown.

Just hearing that made Ash's heart shatter into a million pieces.

'So, she doesn't like me... I see...' he thought to himself as he fought back tears. He hung his head low, however, it immediately shot up when Serena started talking again.

"But, that's not the end of it all." she stated as she put on a bright smile and blushed a deeper she of pink before she turned to face Ash.

"You came here, to Kalos, and we found each other again. Though I couldn't remember you anymore, you still remembered me and recognised me, even though I looked so different from when I was a child. You remembered me, even though you never knew my name." she stated.

Ash couldn't help but blush. Albeit, some of it was out of embarrassment.

"You came to the KIT and brightened up my whole world. You spent so much time with me and we got to know each other again. You were there when I needed help. You helped me through the toughest situations and pushed me hard to achieve my dream, and thanks to you, I did achieve. I am now the Kalos Queen... and I don't know what I would be doing right now if it wasn't for you." said Serena as she now stared staring towards the horizon.

"Ash, you've made me feel so special. The moments I have spend with you will always be in my memories. I promise I'll never forget you and I promise to never break that promise. You have been with me through thick and thin over the past 6 months..." stated Serena. She then turned her head to look at Ash in the eyes. She then put on a soft smile and continued.

"... and over those past 6 months, Ash Ketchum, I have, well, fallen in love with you all over again." she finished with a huge blush on her face. She looked away and tried to over her blush with her hair.

Ash, however, was dumbstruck. He couldn't believe what he was hearing. A lot of things were going though his head and he was bombarded with a lot of emotions, however, the one emotion that stood out the most to him, was joy.

He was ecstatic because of Serena's confession. It was almost too good to be true. Ash's eyes started glistening and he soon developed a smile.

Serena, however, was unsure of everything. She felt like her actions from yesterday would have affected Ash's feelings towards her. She was nervous and she was still waiting for a reaction from Ash. As noting came her way, she frowned and continued.

"I'll understand if, after yesterday's events, you don't feel the same way anymo-" she started, however she was cut off by Ash's hand on her cheek.

Ash made Serena face him again. He could see how surprised Serena was by Ash's little action. It was the first time Ash had given he any form of response since the moment Serena started her confession.

Ash put on a gentle smile and started talking.

"Serena... I could never give up on you. You say that I've always been there for you, but I don't think that you've noticed that you always been there for me. Maybe it's just harder to notice, but thanks to you, I've become a much stronger trainer. You're always there supporting me and cheering me on. I guess you saw yesterday, what happens when you're not there win me." Ash started with a sheepish grin.

Serena just stared at Ash, taking in everything he was saying.

"I just want you to know that you're very special to me. The feelings that I have for you won't fade away easily. In fact, if anything, over the past 6 months, these feelings have only gotten stronger." he stated.

Serena had started blushing heavily. Both Ash and Serena hadn't realised, however, during the whole conversation, they had been inching closer and closer.

"I've already lost you once, I can't afford to lose you again." stated Ash as he stared into Serena's eyes.

"Oh, Ash..." a teary eyed Serena whispered.

Ash then smirked.

"I've waited a very long time to do this..." he whispered before pulling Serena in for a kiss.

Ash did so knowing that he had feelings for Serena and she had feelings for him. Ash knew he couldn't fully express his feelings through words alone, so he relied on the kiss to convey all his feelings... and it did.

Serena's widened as soon as their lips touched, however, she soon gently closed then and returned the kiss. It was a sweet, yet passionate kiss. The two could feel the affection they held for each other.

Soon, they parted as their foreheads rested on each other's. They didn't break eye contact. Serena had a deep blush on her face, however, it soon died down and she started giggling.

Ash was puzzled by this.

"W-What's wrong?" he asked.

"You haven't waited that long... didn't we kiss on Sunday?" she asked as she giggled.

Ash's face flushed red in embarrassment. She was right after all, however, Ash knew that this kiss was a lot more significant that the one on Sunday.

"Well... this time, I was the one who kissed you, I guess." he replied with a sheepish smile.

Serena was feeling so bubbly inside. She was incredibly happy. She couldn't stop giggling. She nodded as a response to Ash and sat down under the starry sky.

Ash sat down next to her. He knew that he still had to ask her a question. Even though he knew that she reciprocated his feelings, he was still nervous. He glanced at Serena and saw her face. She had a beautiful smile on as she looked up at the sky. The reflection of the Milky Way could be seen in her bright blue orbs.

Ash took a deep breath.

"So, Serena?" he asked, trying to gain her attention.

She flicked her head to face Ash.

"Yes, Ash?" she replied.

"D-Do you want to, umm, be my girlfriend?" he asked nervously.

Serena looked at him in wonderment before giving him and ear-to-ear smile and replying.

"I would love to, Ash!" she exclaimed happily before leaning in to hive him a peck on the lips.

Ash grinned happily as the two laid down on the grass and looked up at the sky.

Suddenly, a thought crossed Serena's mind and she immediately frowned.

"Ash... why didn't you go back to Alola?" she asked.

She didn't give Ash time to reply and continued.

"Please, don't give up on your dreams because of me." she stated.

She was, mentally, yelling at herself. Ash and her were finally together and she was pushing him away from her. She was letting him go again. Serena looked away and started tearing up, however, she flinched when she heard Ash chuckling.

She looked at Ash and saw him looking at her.

"W-Wha-?" she managed to say.

Ash started talking to Serena.

"You see, a title isn't everything. Of course, being the Champion of a region is a bit feat... but I've realised that it doesn't really matter to me anymore. Moslty because I don't feel like I've earned it. I mean, I won my first ever league and I was immediately crowned Champion..." stated Ash.

"Anyway, I'm enjoying my time here in Kalos... so, I'm staying here instead!" finished Ash happily.

"B-But, what about Alola?" asked Serena.

Ash knew it had to be done, so he explained the conversation he had with Calem yesterday, to Serena. He let her knew that Calem would be the new Champion of Alola. Ash then let her knew that he had to beat Calem to be a part of the Kalos Elite 4.

After Ash finished explaining everything to her, she gave him a confident smile.

"You're going to win, right?" she asked him.

"Of course I am. My Pokemon and I are going to work together and do our best. That way, we can't lose!" Ash replied back with excitement and confidence and he fist-pumped.

Serena giggled and the nodded, showing the she was happy with everything.

The newly-formed young couple laid on the grass a little longer as they admired the night sky. Soon, however, both of them started showing signs of exhaustion. It was already almost 11pm and the two had had a pretty rough day, so they decided that it was best to turn in for the night.

Soon, the two arrived at their dorms. Ash dropped Serena off to her room and Serena watched Ash as he ascended the stairs to his room. Serena was about to close her door, however, she was interrupted by Ash's voice.

"Who did this?!" he yelled.

Serena was slightly puzzled by Ash's outburst first, however, her eyes immediately widened as she realised what had caused it. She exited her room and ran up to the boys' flat.

As she reached the top of the stairs, she saw Ash about to break down Gary's door.

"Ash, what're you doing?" she asked.

Ash stopped at looked at Serena.

"Gary broke my door!" he exclaimed.

Serena face-palmed as she realised that Ash was jumping to conclusions.

Ash took a couple of steps back to get a decent run-up to Gary's door. Serena immediately spotted this and stopped him.

"Ash!" she whispered yelled.

Ash again directed his attention to Serena.

"It wasn't Gary!" she exclaimed.

"H-Huh? It looks like the sort of thing Gary would do for revenge." said Ash as he scratched his chin, signifying that he was considering who would do so if it wasn't Gary.

Serena the explained that Calem broke the door because they were worried about Ash in the morning. Ash thought for a while and thought that it made sense, so he went along with what Serena said.

"That's fine and all but..." started Ash, however he hesitated.

"But?" asked Serena, encouraging him to continue.

"But where am I going to sleep now? Besides, I ran from the Airport today and Mr Goodshow said that the Airport will take atleast a week to return my luggage. I don't even have my pillows and blankets." explained Ash with a frown.

A thought entered Serena's mind and she immediately blushed. She was about to tell Ash about it, however, Ash started first.

"I'll just wake Gary up. I'm sure he won't min-" Ash started, however he was immediately cut off by a very panicked Serena.

"NO!" she almost yelled.

Ash was shocked by how suddenly Serena raised her voice.

"I-I mean, they spent their whole morning s-searching for you. You should l-let them rest..." she explained nervously.

Ash nodded his head in agreement, however he still had a frown on his face.

"I still don't have anywhere to sleep though..." he stated.

Serena then gathered all her confidence and spoke up.

"Y-You can sleep with... m-me?" her voice squeaked at the end and it ended up almost as if it was a question. She blushed heavily as soon as she said that.

Ash too felt his cheeks heating up. It was a sudden, yet kind offer from Serena.

"A-are you sure?" asked Ash nervously.

Serena was surprised that Ash actually considered her offer.

"Yeah!" she replied with a bit too much excitement.

Ash jumped back a little, however, he soon put on a smile.

"I-If you're OK with it... then I-I am too..." he finished with a slight smile.

Serena blushed heavily, however, she was extremely happy. She immediately grabbed Ash's hand and pulled him down the stairs into her room. She then shut the door behind her.

Ash was taken aback by Serena's actions. He blushed deeply as she looked around her room and realised that he was alone with Serena. Serena too blushed as the same though entered her head.

Silence soon fell upon the room, however, Serena broke it.

"I-I'm going to get changed." She stated as she picked up her pyjamas and made her way into the en-suite bathroom.

"O-Ok." replied Ash as he watched Serena close the door.

Moments later, Serena walked out of the bathroom. She was wearing short pink shorts and a purple short-sleeved hoodie. She also had a large pink bow on her head. Ash rarely got to see Serena in her pyjamas, so he blushed at the sight of her.

Ash, too, removed his jacked to reveal his black undershirt. He removed his shoes and socks, getting ready for bed.

Serena brushed her teeth while Ash used her mouthwash, as he didn't have his toothbrush. Serena giggled as Ash shuddered due to the taste of Serena's mouthwash. He found it to be really... strong.

After they finished, they sat around talking for a while. It was nice and relaxing. This morning, the two were extremely troubled. They were separated from each other and both of them were unsure of what the future was going to hold for them, however, now that they had each other. Both of them knew that they had never been happier. They couldn't keep their smiles off their faces.

It was almost midnight and they knew that they needed to sleep. Ash and Serena slowly walked to Serena's bed and Serena spoke shyly.

"So, which side do you want, Ash?"

End of Chapter 25.

I knew that this chapter was going to be very important. I knew I would need to stuff as much emotion as possible into this chapter... but unfortunately, I fell slightly ill today.

I hope it hasn't ruined much though. If it has, please let me know and I'll rewrite the chapter when I'm better :D

Also, I'm thinking about doing something next chapter... but I don't know how good I will be at it. It is a secret, however, I'm not sure if I will do it or not. I'm keeping it open... that's why I ended this chapter where I ended it...

Also, I might not update for a while. I will be returning to Uni on Sunday... so I have a lot of packing to do. I don't think I'll have much time to write. I hope you guys understand.

Anyways, thank you, so much for reading this chapter.

I will see you in the next one!
