Chapter 40 ~ They're trying to kill us

Luke/ Lucas' POV

Our Thanksgiving holiday had been extended due to the winter blizzard giving us an extra week home which was nice. Unfortunately, Nick, Hayden, Killian, Emma, Isabelle, Isaac, and I all got sick. None of us could go back to school when it reopened.

I hated the idea of Isla and Sofia going back to school without all of us, but Tyler reassured us that he would watch over them. Tyler is now a part of our little group. I'm still not happy about what he did to Isla, but if Isla is willing to give him a second chance then so will the rest of us. He hasn't tried anything since he's been here, and it's been fun having him around.

After Isla, Sofia, and Tyler went to school, I kept getting an uneasy feeling in my stomach. Something in my mind kept telling me that something bad was going to happen today. I tried to take a nap, but the nagging feeling was still bothering me. Plus, I was a little hungry.

Tyler had made us all soup for today, that just needed to be reheated when we were ready to eat. Feeling a little hungry, I go downstairs and find Hayden sitting on the couch with the tv on but no volume. "What are you doing?" I ask him.

He gives me a weird look. "Something doesn't seem right."

"So, you have a weird feeling too?"

"Yeah... It's like something is bothering me but I don't know what. I fear something bad is going to happen."

"I'm feeling the same way too. It's been bothering me all morning since Sofia, Isla and Tyler left for school." I tell him.

"They're fine, right? I mean, Tyler said he would call if something happens right?" Hayden asks. I can tell he was worried about our friends.

"Yeah. Maybe it's just that we haven't been away from Isla in weeks. We are probably just being overly paranoid. Let's put a movie on to distract us."

Since we couldn't decide on what movie to watch we decided to watch The Office instead. We are in the middle of watching our third episode of The Office when my phone rings.

Tyler's name flashes across the screen and the unsettling feeling that I had earlier come rushing back.

Hayden pauses the show as I answer the phone. "Hello?"

I hear coughing before Tyler says, "Help."

Fear strikes me like lightning. "What happened? Where are y'all?"

"Put it on speakerphone," Hayden demands me so he can hear too.

"Sofia and Isla were attacked by some cheerleaders and football players. I tried to stop it, but some more guys came and attacked me. I'm so sorry. I was supposed to protect them."

"Where are y'all?" Hayden asks, panicking.

"Hiding in an empty classroom. The girls aren't in good shape. We barely made it into this room." He croaks.

"Stay put. We are on our way." We hang up and Tyler texts me the room number that they're in.

"Nick! Killian! Hurry get down here now!" I yell. "It's an emergency." As I explain to Nick and Killian about what happened to Isla, Tyler, and Sofia, Hayden calls Mrs. Ford to come and watch over Isabelle, Isaac, and Emma.

I drive my car with Hayden riding with me, while Nick rides with Killian in his truck. The first thing I notice when we pull into the school's parking lot is Tyler's car. It's been destroyed. The words traitor and freak have been sprayed painted on it. All of the windows have been busted out along with his headlights. The tires have also been slashed and it looks like someone took a bat to the sides of his car.

Hayden and I just stare at each other in shock. "How could they do this to him? He was their friend. They have known each other since elementary. All because he went against Chelsea, they do this to him?!" Hayden exclaims

"I get them turning their back on us. We never really hung out with any of them. We were just considered popular because we were the so-called 'bad boys', but Tyler was actually popular or so we thought."

I quickly park and we get out of the car to meet with Killian and Nick. They seem to be just as shocked at us. "Bloody hell!" Killian exclaims. "Now I'm really worried about Isla, Tyler, and my sister."

Nick goes to the back of Killian's truck and grabs a bat. "Why do you have a bat?" I ask him.

He gestures towards Tyler's car. "Chelsea and the kids at this school are crazy. They outnumber us. They've already attacked our friends and destroyed Tyler's car. I'm taking this bat with us in case we need to use it."

"I wish we had more bats," Hayden says.

We cautiously make our way inside of the school worrying that someone might jump us. Thankfully everyone is in class right now. We run up the stairs to the second floor where our friends are. I send a quick text to Tyler letting him know that we are right outside of the room.

He unlocks the door and lets us in. "Fuck." I gasp once I see the three of them. Tyler wasn't kidding when he said that they were in bad shape. "How did this happen?"

Hayden rushes over to Isla and Nick does the same to Sofia. As they're helping the girls Tyler tells us what happened. "The girls went to the restroom together on our way to fourth period. When they hadn't shown up to class ten minutes after the late bell rang, I asked the teacher if I could go to the restroom so that I could go look for them. I heard shouting in the girl's bathroom and when I went in there, I found Chelsea, Kaira, some cheerleaders, and four guys from the football team beating them up. I tried to stop them, but four more guys came in and attacked me. The only reason we got away was that two freshmen came into the bathroom and screamed when they saw what was going on. Them screaming scared everyone and they took off. The three of us took off to find a place to hide and that's how we ended up here. I'm so sorry. I was supposed to protect them, and I failed."

"Don't blame yourself, Tyler," Hayden says, as he continues to look over Isla's wounds. "You couldn't have known they were going to be attacked in the restroom. You went looking for them once you realized they were gone for too long. You did everything you could." Even though everything Hayden said was true, you can see the guilt in Tyler's eyes. He blames himself, but he shouldn't. He tried to protect them and got badly hurt himself.

I grit my teeth. "I'm going to kill them. I will kill each one of them who put their hands on y'all starting with Chelsea and Kaira."

"No." Isla croaked out. Her voice is hoarse from one of the guys choking her.

"They can't get away with this," Killian growls.

"I know." She whispers. "But y'all aren't going to do anything to them. We need to get the police involved."

"But- "Nick starts.

Isla stands up slowly with Hayden's help and limps towards us. "No buts." She harshly says. "This is going beyond bullying. If those two girls didn't walk into the bathroom Chelsea and her stupid army might have killed us. This is getting too dangerous now. It was one thing to be called names and shoved around a little, but Chelsea is crazy. This isn't the first time that they've gone too far. They would have killed Tyler back in October if y'all didn't stop them."

"She's right. Bullying is wrong in the first place, but this is really starting to get out of hand." Sofia cries while sitting in Nick's lap. "They're trying to kill us." If Killian wasn't so upset about his sister being attacked, he would probably be pissed at how intimate his sister and Nick were being. I think they like each other, but I don't know if they realize it or how well Killian is going to take it.

As I look around everyone seems to agree that we should go to the police. They're right. I don't think any of us expected it to go this far. The name-calling, rumors, and revealing our secrets were bad, but we shouldn't be afraid to go to school. No one should have to worry about being attacked while they're at school. Hell, they shouldn't even have to worry about being called names either. Enough is enough now. Chelsea needs to be stopped.

We wait for sixth period to start before we exit the room. Hayden picks Isla up bridal style and carries her to my car. Nick does the same with Sofia but carries her to Killian's car while Killian and I help Tyler in my car.

We were going to call a tow truck to pick up Tyler's car, but Hayden said we should wait so the police can come and see it first for evidence.

When we get to the police station, we are all feeling uneasy, but we know we have to do this. We help Isla, Sofia, and Tyler into the police station, and we begin to explain our story to an officer. They separate all of us to get statements and to see if our stories match. By the way, it's looking like we are in for a long night.

A/N: Sorry for the shorter chapter. This chapter isn't the greatest and I would have tried to fix it, but my family is moving and I'm exhausted. I will still keep up with my posting schedule but forgive me if there are a ton of mistakes. ~KarenJ128~
