Chapter 26 ~ I guess I will be repeating senior year

Isla's POV

There is something familiar and strange about Sofia. I want to be her friend, but I'm also afraid to be her friend. What if she turns out to be like Kaira? I also don't understand why she has saved an empty spot in each of our classes so far. Maybe this is some type of trick set up by Chelsea and Kaira. I don't understand what the point of getting the fight postponed until after school was going to do for any of us besides make us stress all day. Luke, Hayden, Nick, and I all know what Chelsea is capable of and it doesn't help that Kaira is now on her side.

I wouldn't put it past her to actually try and kill one of us. Let's be honest, if she's going to kill one of us it's going to be me. The second and third periods were like first, except we didn't have Chelsea in either class. Kaira used to have art at the same time that we now have art but switch to cheerleading to be with Chelsea. I can't believe she fooled me so easily. It is now time for lunch, but none of us feel very hungry except for Sofia. She went and bought her lunch and her friend's lunch.

I don't know how she can eat when half of the school is planning to attack all of us once the final bell rings. "Y'all aren't eating?" Sofia asks as she walks over carrying two lunch trays.

I shake my head. "If I knew this was our last meal, I would have had Hayden make lunch for us," Nick says.

"If I knew we were going to die at school today, I would have skipped it altogether," Hayden groans.

Luke groans. "If we miss any more school, we aren't going to be graduating this year."

"Talk for yourselves, I made up all of my work from being absent except for the group the projects," I hiss.

Nick looks at me smugly. "Do you mean the group projects that we are a part of with you?" He smirks.

"Crap. I guess I will be repeating a senior year," I pout.

Everyone starts laughing at me until Hayden says, "Love, we wouldn't do that to you."

I look at our new friend who has a huge smile on her face. How can she be smiling when she knows what Chelsea and Kaira have planned for us later? "I thought your friend was joining us for lunch," I say to Sofia.

With a mouth full of pizza, she responds, "Soon..."

How is she so calm about all of this? "Are you sure you want your friend to join us. I just cause trouble for anyone who is near me. Your friend doesn't need to get beaten up because of me."

Sofia stops eating just to stare at me. "It's fine," she says as she waves me off like it's no big deal.

I really hate myself right now. If it wasn't for me, my friends wouldn't have to worry about being bullied or attacked at school. My friends are going to be attacked after school and it's all my fault. I was better off alone. It was better when the whole school only hated me. Stupid me had to drag my friends into this. I try to blink away the tears to not let my friends see them, but I fail as Hayden looks over at me. "Isla, what's wrong?" He wipes some of my tears away.

"Please don't cry." The mood around us because of somber.

This is my fault. I can't allow this to happen. As anger and frustration builds in me, I can no longer control my emotions. "Stop! Just stop," I lash out.

"Stay away from me. All of you. Please," I whimper.

Nick looks hurt. "Why do you want us to stay away? Isla, you are our friend."

"I shouldn't be. It was all a mistake." I cry as I put my head in my hands.

Luke places his finger under my chin forcing me to look at him. "Do you honestly believe that?"

Of course, not but they would be better off without me. I nod my head. "Bull crap," Luke growls.

"If you really believe becoming friends with us was a mistake and you want us to go away look me in the eyes and say it."

I look in Luke's eyes. Do it Isla. It's to protect them. "I-I." I lower my head in shame. "I can't say it."

Everyone looks relieved that I can't say it. "Why would you say it in the first place, Isla?" Hayden asks sadly.

"Because this is my fault. Chelsea is out to get all of you because of me," I point to Sofia.

"Sofia and her friend barely even know me, and Chelsea is going to make their life a living hell because of me. If y'all all just walk away from me, Chelsea will leave y'all alone. Look at Kaira, she's on top now, after leaving me. Y'all can be there too," I cry.

Hayden grabs my hand. "Isla, what did you do to deserve this? Huh? Nothing... Chelsea's a bitch. She is jealous of you. She is jealous that she can't be as pure as you," he takes a deep breath.

"None of this is your fault. We want to be friends with you. You didn't force us, that was our choice. I already told you that you are stuck with me. I'm not going anywhere," He says squeezing me into a hug.

"We aren't going anywhere either," Nick says while Luke and Sofia nod their head in agreement.

"Everything will be fine, Isla. I'm sure of it," Sofia says smiling brightly.

I hug each of my friends. "Sorry about that. I just ... I just hate Chelsea."

"We all do," Nick says with a disgusting look on his face.

"I hate when she used to rub herself on me. She thought she was being sexy, but I would have to go home and take ten showers just to wash her nastiness off me." He shivers in disgust.

Killian's POV

The school was a lot bigger than I expected when I pulled in front of it. I still have a few minutes before I need to meet with my sister and see what surprise she has for me. I can't believe it's the first day of our new school and she already has me fighting. To make matters worse, she had me call up some of my old friends to help fight. Whatever she got herself into it must be bad. This so-called surprise better be good. She keeps telling me it's worth it, but I really can't think of anything that she could possibly have for me that would make it worth it.

Everyone is staring at me as I get out of my beat-up truck. My vehicle is nowhere as nice as the rest of the vehicle in the parking lot but at least it works. I start looking around for the giant willow tree that I am supposed to meet my sister at when I spot a red head in a tight cheerleader out. She waves at me and blows a kiss. I'm guessing she is popular, but she is not my type. She probably thinks she is pretty, but she's nothing compared to my Angel. My Angel is beautiful. God, I feel so stupid for not getting her phone number. She has been the only thing on my mind ever since I met her.

I pull the hood of my hoodie up to cover my head in hopes that I won't draw any more attention to myself. Along the side of the school, I finally start to see some willow trees. Following the path of trees, I finally see it. The willow tree is huge. There are five people sitting beneath the willow tree. The first person I notice is my sister. Her long blonde hair is swaying in the wind. Near her are three guys. They don't look like the type of people my sister should be hanging out with. All three of them look pissed off and are on the verge of killing someone. I wonder if these are three of the people that I need to fight for my sister.

Making my way closer, my sister and the three guys are all talking to a girl with long brown hair. The girl seems familiar, but I can't see her face. My sister must have sensed that I was here because she turns around and makes eye contact with me. She smiles brightly and mouths the word 'Angel' as she points the girl next to her.

My heart races as it dawns on me that my sister found my Angel. I'm still slightly nervous that it might not be here because I haven't seen her face yet. I slowly walk over to her. She must have been crying recently because I can hear her sniffle occasionally. When I am only a few feet away, I call out to her. "Angel?! Angel? Is it really you?"

Her head lifts up when she hears me speak causing a huge smile to make its way on my face. "K-Killian?" She stutters.

As she stands up, I grab her and pull her into a hug. I lift her off the ground and spin her around as she wraps her arms around my neck. "I've missed you, Angel. I was afraid I would never get to see you again," she giggles.

I look over to my sister with a goofy smile on my face. "Worth it," I tell her.

As I look at Isla's face my smile is replaced with a frown. "Have you been crying?"

She nods her head as I place her back on the ground. As soon as her feet touch the ground, she is pulled behind one of the guys that had been talking to my sister. "Who the hell are you?" He growls at me with his teeth clench.

Who does he think he is putting his hands on, Isla? I look at her and point at the three guys. "Did they make you cry?" Staring at the guy who pulled her away I growl.

"Let her go."

"Stop," Isla's angelic voice rings out around us.

She pushes the guys out of the way and stands between us. We all just stare at her. "Guys, this is Killian. Killian, this is Nick, Hayden, and Luke. We are all friends here," She states.

Everybody relaxes a little. "Isla, Guys, this is my twin brother," Sofia says proudly.

Isla's eyes widened. "I thought you looked familiar."

The guy closest to Isla puts his hand out for me to shake. "Nice to meet you, Killian. I'm Hayden. So how do you know, Isla?"

Isla raises her hand slightly. "I'll answer that." She smiles sweetly. "I met him while I was crying at an abandoned park on the day I was released from the hospital."

"You were in the hospital?" I question.

"Are you okay?"

One of the other guys walks up to her. "Isla, you can't be running off to abandon the park talking to strangers. You never know if it's some type of set up created by Chelsea."

"Setup by Chelsea? Who is Chelsea?" I ask.

"Sofia, what friends were you talking about that needed help?" I question my twin.

She frowns. "Them," She says as she gestures to Isla, Nick, Hayden, and Luke.

This whole thing is confusing me. "You can't be talking about them. You said your friends were on the bottom of the social ladder. None of them look like they are on the bottom of the social ladder. And who is Chelsea?"

Luke pats my back. "Give it about two minutes, and you will understand everything."

Everyone is staring at something behind me. I turn around to see what they are looking at and it is the redhead from earlier with a short girl that has long black hair.

"Already trying to take the new guy, you selfish slut?" She sneers.

Slut? Who is she talking to? She bats her eyes at me and rubs her hand up and down my chest. "Hi, I'm Chelsea, and this is Kaira," She says in a flirtatious tone.

"What are you doing with these freaks and slut?"

Grabbing her hand, I remove it from my chest. "Who are you calling a slut?" I growl.

She flips her hair and looks over to Isla. "Isla and probably her." She says as she points to my sister.

Pinching the bridge of my nose, I take a deep breath to not allow my anger to get the best of me. I grab the redhead and pull her into me where our chest is touching. She smiles widely at me and blows a kiss. I lean in next to her ear with my lips barely touching it. "If you ever call my little sister or Isla a slut again you will regret the day you ever laid eyes on me," I saw in a low menacing tone.

She pulls away from me quickly with fear in her eyes. The fear only lasts for a few seconds as she points at Isla. "You did it again," she screeches.

"Just you wait. Do you think they will still want anything to do with you after what's going to happen after school?" She laughs evilly.

"It will be all your fault Isla that they get hurt. They will want nothing to do with you after that." She smiles evilly. "As for the rest of you. I'll give you until the end of the day to come to your senses. Ditch Isla or you will face consequences," She turns on her heels to walk away but stops.

"Oh, and Isla. Tyler says he can't wait to finish what he started. Your little boy toys won't be able to save you this time."

Chelsea and Kaira quickly walk away as Isla falls to the ground crying. "W-What is she talking about? Who's Tyler?" My sister asks with concern lacing her voice.

Nick and Luke are fuming with anger, while Hayden is trying to comfort Isla. I hear him whisper, "We won't let him near you. You know that, right?"

Luke's fist balls up and his jaw clenches. "Tyler and two of his friends tried to force themselves onto Isla the last time she was at school. We found her just in the nick of time. We beat the crap out of them but obviously they didn't learn their lesson."

My sister gave me a sad look and whispered in my ear, "She is part of the reason your angel is broken."

I look at every one. "How long has this been going on?"

Nick looks at the ground and kicks some of the dirt with his feet. "For Isla, since freshman year. The three of us were known at the school's 'bad boys' until recently," he says as he gestures to himself and the other two guys.

"Luke was demoted to 'freak' today. Chelsea just has it out for Isla for no reason."

Hayden then cuts in. "Her goal is if she can make us miserable, we will stop hanging out with Isla and come crawling back to her. That's why she has enlisted the football team and basketball team to fight us after school. Don't get me wrong, the three of us know how to fight, but this match is beyond uneven. Also, some of the girls are probably going to try and fight your sister and Isla."

"That's why you told me to call Tomas, Declan, and Hugo," Sofia nods at me.

I give everyone an evil smile. "It won't be uneven. Three of my friends are meeting here after school. They're each bringing two friends and they are all bringing their girlfriends."

Isla quickly looks at me. "We can't allow your friends to get hurt because of us."

"Angel don't worry. Chelsea and her little friends will look at my friends and run away. If they don't run away and are stupid enough to fight, my friends will be fine. Fighting is how they make their money. This will be nothing to them."

"He's right Isla." My sister confirms. "They look scary like those three if not more." She says pointing at Nick, Hayden, and Luke.

Nick puts his arm around me and my sister. "I like the two of you. Y'all fit in perfectly with us. We should celebrate later tonight." Something about him saying that makes me feel better. Hugo, Tomas, and Declan are my friends, but we aren't the type to hang out. Maybe I can have a normal friendship with Isla and her friends. Of course, I still want Isla to be mine though.

"We can have a slumber party," Isla says cheerfully.

Nick starts bouncing around like a kid on a sugar high. "Movie Night!" He squeals.

Hayden and Luke both groan. "He's going to pick cartoons again," Hayden says causing Isla to giggle.

I love the sound of her giggling. Sofia looks at me with worried eyes. I know what she's thinking. She wants to go and so do I, but we can't leave Emma alone with our uncle. Who knows what he will do to her? "We can't," I say softly.

Isla looks disappointed and it breaks my heart. "Why not?" She asks.

"We've never spent a single night away from our little sister. It would break her heart if we weren't home with her." I sigh.

The disappointment disappears from Isla's face. "Bring her."

Both mine and Sofia's head snap up. "Huh?"

"Bring her. My little sister and brother will be there. Plus, we will end up watching cartoon movies because that is the only thing that Nick ever chooses," she laughs.

"Cartoons are amazing, and I pick them for the kids anyways," Nick says.

Hayden huffs, "There were no kids last time. It was just you, me and Isla."

"I didn't hear Isla complain about the cartoons." Nick whines. "You like cartoon movies too. Right Isla?"

Isla rolls her eyes but smiles nonetheless. "Yes, Nick. I love the cartoons you pick out."

"Are you sure your family will be okay with it?" I ask Isla.

Isla looks down at the ground. "Yes," she whispers.

"My parents passed away about a month ago. It's just me, my siblings, Nick and Hayden," She smiles.

"They moved in recently to help me out."

Hayden smiles at me. "We would be more than happy to have y'all come over as long as you can put up with this idiot," he says pointing at Nick.

Sofia is bouncing on her legs in excitement. "Can we, Kill? Please?"

"I guess we are going to a slumber party," I say trying to act cool about it.

On the inside, I am jumping up and down like Nick. I get to spend time with my angel. If I am lucky maybe I will get some alone time with her. Now I just have to get through the rest of the day and hope that my friends show up like they said they would. This smile on my face isn't going to leave anytime soon today. My angel has been found, I've made friends, and I actually get to have some fun tonight without having to worry about my uncle beating me or my sisters.
