Seeing Him
Lucinda was dressed in typical Ru'an armor. Her hand gripped her magic staff tightly. She, nor did anyone else, truly trusted Aeolos or the Demon Warlock to remain peaceful and not launch an attack. Lucinda and everyone else had to be prepared to fight and counter-attack any tricks of Aeolos or the Demon Warlock.
Lucinda, Aphmau, other significant and blessed fighters, and soldiers from the Ru'an army were with Lucinda for the meeting held by Aeolos on the Drenched Plateau.
Lucinda shivered. The Drenched Plateau was where many wars have been fought on. It was said the ground was leveled down and had no life because of the countless soldiers that ran and fought and died on the Drenched Plateau. The land is said to have a reddish hue red because so of all the blood that had spilled on it. Witches liked creepy things, they were witches, afterall. They themselves were considered creepy. But Lucinda didn't like the Drenched Plateau. It was a war zone right now.
Hopefully that would change today.
Lucinda tensed as she heard loud footsteps of marching soldiers. She could see those of Aeolos now. The Demon Warlock was in front.
Lucinda heard Katelyn growl very low in her throat. Usually, Lucinda would tease or playfully chide Katelyn's aggressive behaviour, but now the situation was too serious and Lucinda honestly felt the same way.
Aeolos made her mad. Aeolos was causing her country to suffer. Causing all her friends to suffer. The war had killed her father and many of her friends. Lucinda didn't want to lose anyone else or have anyone else suffer.
Soon the Demon Warlock arrived and made a stop, dust billowing around everyone. He signalled for everyone else to stop.
Lucinda could tell how tense and anxious everyone was. Lucinda was too. If this meeting wasn't a trick, she'd be meeting her fiancé. A man she never met or heard about before.
Soon, the dust settled.
"Well, hello, Lord Aphmau." The Demon Warlock greeted. "Have you picked a woman for Travis Valkrum to marry, or should we fight right here and now?" He asked, chuckling.
Lucinda tried her best not to glare or appear angry, even though right now all she wanted was to attack the Demon Warlock with a spell.
Lucinda heard Katelyn mutter something along the lines of, "why that.."
If the Demon Warlock heard Katelyn, he ignored her. His eyes remained coolly on Aphmau.
"We have picked a woman for Travis Valkrum to marry." Aphmau said slowly.
"Ah, splendid!" The Demon Warlock exclaimed, giving a single clap. "Who would that be?" He asked, sounding genuinely intrigued.
"Lucinda Pikoro." Aphmau replied curtly. Almost automatically, Lucinda took a step forward to be beside her lord.
The Demon Warlock hummed, now staring at Lucinda. Lucinda forced herself to appear strong and not shy away from his entirely purple-eyed gaze.
"Travis Valkrum! Come meet your to-be-betrothed." The Demon Warlock finally said, his voice booming across the plateau.
"Yes, My Lord!" A voice said, hurrying to the Demon Warlock's side. It was a man with hair white as snow and eyes as green as emeralds. His skin was white and fair. He seemed to be decently toned with muscle, though it was hard to tell through the armor he wore.
He was handsome, Lucinda would give him that. She just hoped that he didn't have an ugly attitude and personality to make up for it.
The Demon Warlock smiled. "Well, shall we discuss the further details of this marriage?" He asked. "I'd like if we discussed in a more... proper place." He added.
Aphmau gave a terse nod. "We can discuss this in Prylyn." She said.
-6 Hours Later, Afternoon-
Lucinda refrained from sighing as she exited the room.
Lucinda and Travis would be living in Ru'an. They were to get engaged in three days time, in Ru'an. Their marriage's exact date wasn't decided, but they'd be getting married in a piece of unclaimed and neutral land. Unfortunately, Lucinda and Travis weren't allowed to divorce, so Lucinda was stuck with him.
Lucinda could see everyone exiting the room, too, soon after her. Just as Lucinda suspected, the soldiers of Aeolos and Ru'an remained separate and didn't say a single thing to each other.
Lucinda looked around, she caught sight of Travis. Lucinda didn't really want to look at him too much, but she was awfully curious of her future husband. He was good-looking, there was no denying that. But Lucinda didn't like the idea of marrying a man like Ivan. Lucinda's hands turned to fists as she thought of Ivan.
"Hey, Lucinda. Quit admiring your to-be's good looks." Lucinda heard Katelyn say behind her. "He's from Aeolos. I hate to say it, but I wouldn't be surprised if he turns out to be a terrible guy." Katelyn growled darkly.
Lucinda sighed in response. "Yeah, you're right." She said, looking away from Travis to Katelyn. "Though you could let me admire him while I can before reality hits hard." Lucinda said, a joking tone in her voice.
Katelyn rolled her eyes. "Whatever. We have to go now, so admire him later. You'll be seeing him in three days." She said.
Lucinda nodded in response. She grinned at the warrior. "Coming to me because Jeffory didn't come?" She teased.
Katelyn's face turned red. "Wh-What?! No!" Katelyn said. "Fine. Be by yourself. I was trying to be nice, but knowing you, I shouldn't have." She said, looking cross. She turned and walked into the crowd.
"Oh Katelyn." Lucinda sighed teasingly, walking after her.
