Chapter 24

Seungcheol's eyes widened in surprise, his jaw dropping at Jeonghan's sudden declaration. "No." he said firmly, shaking his head. "Absolutely not. You're not coming with us."

Jeonghan glared at him, his eyes flashing with determination. "Yes, I am." he said firmly, his voice leaving no room for argument. "I'm not going to sit here and wait, while you and the others risk your lives."

Seungcheol's frustration grew, his hands clenched into fists as he tried to reason with Jeonghan. "Jeonghan, this is not a game." he said firmly. "It's dangerous and risky, and I can't let you put yourself in harm's way."

"I know it's dangerous, Cheol." Jeonghan shot back, his voice sharp and stubborn. "But I'm not going to just sit here and let you all risk your lives while I do nothing. This is my fight too, and I want to be there."

Seungcheol felt his patience wearing thin, but he took a deep breath, trying to rein in his emotions. "Jeonghan, I can't let you do this." he said, his voice stern and firm. "It's too dangerous. You have Haneul to think about. You need to stay here, where it's safe, and take care of him."

Jeonghan's expression softened at the mention of Haneul, a flicker of guilt and concern crossing his features. But he shook his head stubbornly, determination still burning in his eyes. "Haneul will be fine." he said firmly.

"And I can't just sit back and do nothing. This is my fight, Cheol. I need to be there."

Seungcheol bristled at Jeonghan's stubbornness, his irritation rising as he tried to reason with him once again
"Jeonghan, listen to me." he said, his voice taking on a commanding tone. "You cannot come with us. It's too dangerous. I can't risk your safety. I can't risk losing you."

Jeonghan's frustration flared at Seungcheol's words, his anger rising to the surface. "You can't just decide this for me, Cheol!" he exclaimed, his voice rising in volume. "I'm a fully capable and trained agent. I can handle myself in a fight. I can be of help on this mission."

"It's not about your abilities, Jeonghan." Seungcheol retorted, his own anger starting to show. "It's about the fact that we don't know what kind of situation we're walking into. It's too dangerous, and I can't let you risk your life like this."

Jeonghan let out an exasperated sigh, his frustration and determination battling in his eyes. "I don't care about the danger." he said bluntly. "I don't care about the risk. I'm going to be there, whether you like it or not."

"Don't be stupid Jeonghan. You are staying here that's final." Seungcheol said with finality.

Jeonghan bristled at Seungcheol's authoritative tone, his own determination and stubbornness only growing stronger. "Don't tell me what to do, Cheol." he retorted, his voice taking on a challenging tone. "You can't just decide this for me. I'm coming with you, whether you like it or not."

Seungcheol let out a frustrated growl, his temper starting to fray as he tried to reason with Jeonghan. "Jeonghan, you are being unreasonable." he said firmly.

"You are not coming with us. It's too risky. Don't make me tie you down to prevent you from coming."

Jeonghan's anger flared at Seungcheol's threat, his eyes narrowing in defiant challenge. "Try it and see what happens." he said, his voice daring and defiant.

"You won't be able to stop me. I'll find a way to come with you, one way or another."

"You are being irrational and reckless." Seungcheol retorted, his voice rising in frustration. "This isn't a game, Jeonghan. This is serious. You need to listen to me and stay here where it's safe."

Jeonghan's face flushed with irritation at Seungcheol's words, his eyes blazing with determination. "I don't care if it's irrational or reckless." he shot back. "I'm coming with you, and you can't stop me. I'm not staying here while you and the others risk your lives for my sake."

"Jeonghan think about Haneul what if something happens to you then then what will happened to him!" Seungcheol retorted back angrily.

Jeonghan froze, his expression faltering as Seungcheol's words hit him. The thought of something happening to him and leaving Haneul alone sent a shiver down his spine
He opened his mouth to speak, but no words came out. He knew that Seungcheol was right, and that he needed to think about Haneul's well-being.

Seungcheol relaxed slightly, seeing the conflict in Jeonghan's eyes. He knew that he had gotten through to him, and that Jeonghan was starting to realize the weight of his decision.

"Jeonghan." he said, his voice gentler now. "Think about Haneul. He needs you. He can't afford to lose you."

Jeonghan's shoulders slumped, his determination and defiance faltering in the face of the truth. "I know." he said softly, his voice tinged with resignation. "But I can't just sit here and do nothing while you all put yourselves in danger."

Seungcheol softened, his eyes filled with understanding and empathy. "I know you want to help." he said, his voice gentle and sincere. "But the best way to help is to stay here, where it's safe."

Jeonghan met Seungcheol's gaze, his frustration and determination slowly fading into resignation. He knew that Seungcheol was right. It was reckless and irresponsible of him to put himself in harm's way, when he had a young son who needed him.

"Fine." he conceded, his voice reluctantly. "I'll stay here. But promise me you'll come back safely."

Seungcheol's expression softened further, a small smile tugging at the corner of his lips. "I promise." he said, his voice firm and resolute. "We'll be careful, and we'll come back unharmed. You know we're the best at what we do."

Seungcheol softly cupped his cheek giving a soft kiss. Jeonghan's eyes widened at the unexpected gesture, but he leaned into Seungcheol's touch, closing his eyes for a moment as a sense of comfort washed over him.

"Be careful." he whispered, his voice a mixture of concern and trust. "You better come back in one piece, you hear me?"

Seungcheol chuckled softly, his thumb tracing a gentle path along Jeonghan's cheek. "You worry too much." he teased, his voice soft and affectionate. "We'll be fine. We've got each other's backs. You just focus on taking care of Haneul, okay?"

Jeonghan's expression softened, a small smile tugging at his lips. He knew that Seungcheol was right, and that he needed to trust in the team's ability to handle the situation. "I'll take care of Haneul." he promised, his voice quiet and sincere. "Just come back safely, alright?"

Seungcheol nodded standing up going to Haneul's room. Haneul was playing with his toys, his small hands busy as he focused on building a tower out of building blocks. He looked up as Seungcheol entered the room, his expression curious and excited.

"Uncle Cheol!" he exclaimed, his voice cheerful and happy
"You're here!"

Seungcheol smiled at the little boy's greeting, his heart lightening at the sight of Haneul's cheerful expression. He walked over to the boy, taking a seat on the ground next to him.

"Hey there, kiddo." he said, his voice gentle and affectionate. "What are you building there?"

Haneul's eyes lit up at the question, and he proudly showed off his tower of building blocks. "I'm building a tall tower." he said, his voice full of childlike wonder. "It's gonna be the tallest tower in the whole world!"

Seungcheol chuckled at Haneul's enthusiasm, his heart swelling with affection for the little boy. "That's a mighty impressive tower." he said, his voice filled with admiration. "You're a natural builder, you know that?"

Haneul beamed at the compliment, his little chest puffing out with pride. "I'm gonna be the best builder ever." he declared, confidence lacing his voice. "When I grow up, I'm gonna build the tallest buildings in the world!"

Seungcheol chuckled again, his smile growing wider. "I believe you, kiddo." he said, reaching out to ruffle Haneul's hair affectionately. "You're gonna be a great builder, I just know it."

Seungcheol spoke softly. "Stay with your dad tonight okay? I will be back soon."

Haneul's expression faltered for a moment, a flicker of worry passing through his eyes. He looked up at Seungcheol, his small hands gripping the building blocks tightly.

"Where are you going, Uncle Cheol?" he asked, his voice small and concerned.

Seungcheol's heart ached at the worry on Haneul's face, but he knew he had to keep things light and reassuring for the little boy. He smiled warmly at Haneul and patted his head gently.

"I have to go out for a bit." he said, his voice soft and calm. "But I'll be back before you know it. In the meantime, you stay with your dad, alright? He needs you right now."

Haneul nodded hesitantly, his grip on the building blocks loosening slightly. "Okay." he said, his voice quiet and unsure. "But you will come back, right? You promise?"

Seungcheol's expression softened further, his heart clenching at Haneul's vulnerability and fear. He reached out and gently ruffled the boy's hair again.

"I promise." he said firmly, his voice full of conviction. "I'll always come back. No matter what."

Haneul seemed to relax slightly at Seungcheol's words, a small smile appearing on his face. "Okay." he said, his voice a little more confident now. "I'll wait for you. And I'll take care of Daddy while you're gone."

Seungcheol smiled at Haneul's loyalty and sense of responsibility. "You're a good kid." he said, his voice filled with pride. "I know you'll take great care of your dad. And I'll be back before you know it. I promise."

Seungcheol's smile widened as Haneul reached out to him extending his arms. He enveloped Haneul in a warm hug. He held the little boy tight, his heart swelling with affection and protectiveness.

"I'll miss you, kiddo." he said, his voice a little choked up. "But I'll be back soon, okay?"

Haneul clung to Seungcheol, his small arms wrapping around him tightly. He whispered, his voice muffled against Seungcheol's chest. "I don't want you to go."

Seungcheol's heart ached at the boy's words, but he knew he had to go. He gently disentangled himself from Haneul's grip, holding him by the shoulders and looking him in the eyes.

"I'll be back before you know it." he repeated, his voice firm and reassuring. "Be a good boy and listen to your dad while I'm gone, okay?"

Haneul nodded, his expression a mix of sadness and determination. "Okay." he said quietly, his voice filled with resignation. He knew he had to let him go, even if he didn't want to.

As Seungcheol left the room, he felt a pang of guilt and sadness at the sight of Jeonghan's worried expression. He knew that Jeonghan was struggling with the decision to stay behind, but he also knew that it was the safest option for him and Haneul.

He steeled himself and forced his focus back onto the task at hand. He had a mission to complete, and he couldn't afford to let his emotions cloud his judgment.
