Chapter 11
Jeonghan stealthily sneaked into the hideout, his footsteps silent and his senses heightened. He navigated through the dimly lit tunnels, keeping his presence hidden while searching for any sign of his former boss.
As he moved deeper into the hideout, his heart was racing. It was eerily quiet, and he couldn't shake off the feeling that he was walking into a trap.
Suddenly, a sound echoed through the halls, causing Jeonghan to freeze in his tracks. It was faint, but it definitely sounded like footsteps approaching. Jeonghan quickly ducked behind a nearby wall, his hand gripping his gun tightly.
He held his breath, listening intently to the approaching footsteps. As they grew closer, Jeonghan prepared himself for a potential confrontation. He knew he had to be stealthy and cunning to get out of this situation alive.
The footsteps grew louder, and a figure emerged from the shadows. Jeonghan's eyes widened as he recognized his former boss, a cold smile on his face.
"Well, well, well," the former boss said, his voice dripping with malice. "What a surprise. I didn't expect you to show up here, Jeonghan."
Jeonghan gritted his teeth, his grip on his gun tightening. He had expected to run into his former boss, but he hadn't prepared himself for the surge of anger and tension that flooded through him at the sight of the man who had once controlled his life.
"Cut the crap, I know you're behind this," Jeonghan said, his voice firm and cold. "Where's Haneul?"
The former boss chuckled darkly, his eyes gleaming with sadistic pleasure. "Oh, so that's why you're here. You want your little brat back, huh?"
Jeonghan's blood boiled at the former boss's words. "Don't talk about him like that," he said through clenched teeth. "Just tell me where he is."
"I didn't expect you to easily find out the owner of the note. That's me." he said a smirk evident on his face.
Jeonghan's mind raced as he processed the former boss's words. So he was the one who did the kidnapping, and he had planted the note to throw Jeonghan off his scent. It all made sense now, but Jeonghan was fuming with anger and frustration.
"Why?" Jeonghan demanded, his voice shaking with anger. "Why go through all this trouble to kidnap my kid?"
"Just to get some time knowing that you know the boss of Seventeen."
Jeonghan frowned, confusion etched on his face. "What do you mean, the boss of Sev-"
Suddenly, it clicked. Jeonghan's eyes widened as realization dawned on him. "You're talking about Scoups," he said, his voice laced with disbelief.
The former boss smirked, a sinister glint in his eye. "Oh, so you know him," he said, feigning ignorance. "It figures. You're quite well connected in this city, aren't you?"
Jeonghan clenched his fists, the anger inside him reaching a boiling point. He had a strong suspicion that his former boss was trying to use Haneul to get at Seventeen, and he couldn't let that happen.
"If you laid a single finger on my kid," Jeonghan said, his voice low and dangerous. "I swear, I'll make you wish you'd never been born."
The threat seemed to amuse the former boss even more. He let out a small chuckle, clearly not intimidated by Jeonghan's words. "Oh, you're going to threaten me now?" he said, his tone dripping with mockery. "How adorable."
Jeonghan gritted his teeth, his frustration mounting. The former boss was taunting him, enjoying seeing him riled up. But Jeonghan couldn't let him get the best of him. He had to stay calm and focused on finding Haneul.
Before Jeonghan could retort, the former boss reached into his pocket and pulled out a piece of paper. He tossed it at Jeonghan, a smug look on his face.
Jeonghan caught the paper, his eyes flickering down to read what was written on it.
It was an address, scribbled on with pen. Jeonghan looked back up at the former boss, his heart racing. Was this the location where Haneul was being held captive?
"Go ahead," the former boss said, gesturing towards the address. "You'll find what you're looking for. And maybe, just maybe, you can reunite with your precious son."
Jeonghan's eyes narrowed suspiciously at the former boss's words. Something was off about the way he was so easily giving up Haneul's location. He had hoped for a brief moment that he had finally found his son, but now doubt creeped its way back into his mind.
"Well your precious son will be sold within an hour if you can't get there." the man said devilish smile.
Jeonghan's heart skipped a beat at the former boss's words. Sold? The thought of Haneul being sold to anyone other than him made Jeonghan feel like a caged animal, desperate to break free and find his son.
But his mind was also racing, trying to figure out what the former boss's angle was. He wouldn't just give up Haneul's location without some sort of catch.
"What do you want in return?" Jeonghan gritted out, his eyes fixed on the former boss. "You wouldn't just let me go for free."
"Ah I assume you have brought the diamond in your bag." his boss nodded his head at his bag.
Jeonghan felt a pang of dread in his stomach. The diamond, of course. The former boss had been after it all along.
With a heavy sigh, Jeonghan reached into his bag and pulled out the diamond. It glittered in the dim light, still as valuable as ever.
Jeonghan watched as the former boss's eyes glinted with triumph. He was clearly satisfied with having gotten his hands on the diamond.
But Jeonghan's concern for Haneul overpowered any other emotion he had at the moment. He needed to get to his son before it was too late.
"What guarantee do I have that you're telling the truth?" Jeonghan asked, his voice firm. "How do I know Haneul is really at that address and that you won't just take the diamond and disappear?"
The former boss's smirk widened. "You don't," he said simply, shrugging his shoulders. "It's a calculated risk. You either take my word for it and go to the address, or you walk out of here empty-handed. It's your choice."
Jeonghan clenched his jaw, weighing his options. The former boss's words echoed in his mind, taunting him. Could he risk Haneul's safety on the chance that the address was a trap?
But there was no time to waste. Every second counted. Jeonghan knew he had to make a decision, no matter how risky it was. He took a deep breath, steeling himself for what was to come.
"I'll go," Jeonghan said firmly, his eyes meeting the former boss's gaze. "I'll go to the address and get my son. But if I find out you're lying or if you've done anything to hurt Haneul, I will make sure you pay for it."
The former boss chuckled, clearly enjoying the power he held over Jeonghan. "Oh, I have no doubt about that," he said, his tone dripping with sarcasm. "But I guess we'll see how this all plays out, won't we?"
Jeonghan felt a flutter of alarm as he saw several of the former boss's men surrounding him. They had silently come up behind him while he was distracted, now encasing him in a tight circle.
Jeonghan stiffened as he saw the former boss take the diamond from his hands, a sense of helplessness overcoming him. The men surrounding him made any attempt at escape seem futile, and he was at the mercy of the boss's whims.
The former boss held the diamond admiringly, turning it over in his hands and examining its flawlessness. A small, satisfied smirk tugged at the corners of his mouth, and Jeonghan felt a surge of anger at the sight.
"You really shouldn't have trusted me, Jeonghan," the former boss said, his eyes flicking up to meet Jeonghan's gaze. "But oh well, fools like you always make the same mistake."
Jeonghan clenched his jaw, his hands balling into fists. He wanted nothing more than to lung at the former boss and tear the diamond from his hands, but the men surrounding him prevented any such action.
"Have fun at the address," the former boss said, waving the diamond tauntingly. "I'm sure you'll have quite the interesting night, especially if you make it in time to save your son."
Jeonghan felt a pang of worry for Haneul. The former boss's words were like a gut punch, reminding him that his son's safety was still hanging in the balance. He had no way of knowing if the address was even legitimate or just a trap to lead him into further danger.
Jeonghan's eyes flicked to the men surrounding him. They were all watching him intently, their expressions neutral but menacing. He knew that attempting an escape would likely end badly for him, but he had to try.
He inhaled deeply, quickly calculating his options. He was outnumbered and surrounded, but he couldn't just give up. He had to find a way to escape and get to Haneul.
With a burst of energy, Jeonghan suddenly lunged forward, trying to break through the circle of men. But they were quick and skilled, grabbing hold of him and restraining his movements with ease.
Jeonghan struggled against their grip, throwing punches and kicks, but it was futile. The men were much stronger and more experienced than him, and they effortlessly held him in place.
Jeonghan's eyes widened as he heard the sound of gunshots ringing through the air. He instinctively flinched, expecting to feel the pain of a bullet piercing his skin.
But to his surprise, none of the men surrounding him appeared to be hit. Instead, they all looked at him with amusement, clearly entertained by his flinching reaction.
Jeonghan realized that the gunshots weren't aimed at him, but were rather a warning against any further attempts to escape. The former boss had made it clear that Jeonghan was not getting away that easily.
Jeonghan tried to regain his composure, but the fear and frustration were starting to become overwhelming. He was caught in a dangerous situation with no easy way out, and Haneul's safety was still in jeopardy.
Jeonghan continued to struggle against the men holding him captive, every fiber of his being desperate to break free. His mind was racing, searching for any possible escape route or weakness in the men's grip on him.
He twisted and thrashed, trying to break their hold on him, but it was like trying to break through solid rock. The men were much larger and stronger than him, and their grip only seemed to tighten the more he fought.
