Chapter Ten~Hurry Please

Clint's POV

We've been flying the jet for TWO HOURS already and I'm SOOOOO BORED. And that's not even the worst part! We'll be in the air for another(idk) long time!

And I have to listen to Steve and Tony bicker the ENTIRE TIME! I wish I'd stayed in New York. But, a job's a job, and I owe it to Percy.

You know what, now that I think about it, I could just turn the jet around and hope no one notices...

"Not today, Clint. Keep us on track to Greece," Natasha whispered in my ear. I jumped about two feet. "Stop doing that, woman!" I screeched.

Tony snickered. I locked eyes with Thor and he winked at me. Then he whacked Tony upside the head.

"THOR!" Tony yelled, chasing a giggling Thor around Sam, Wanda, and Bruce who were just trying to have a nice conversation. I watched them go, longing to be apart of the drama, when Nat slapped me.

I huffed and turned back to the controls. She's no fun sometimes. Always telling us to be 'responsible adults'. Yeah right.

Time skip to Greece

I landed the jet in a field in Greece somewhere and promptly collapsed. "You guys will be the death of me," I moaned. "Oh shut it," Sam said, stepping on me as he passed. "What the heck dude?" He smiled and kept walking. What nice friends I have.

Well, I have to admit Greece is beautiful. We appear to be in Epirus like we're supposed to be, so that's good. Now to find the House of Hades. Speaking of Hades, just then an Iris Message appeared in front of us. Nico di Angelo appeared and he looked like he'd seen a ghost. Jk, he always looks like that.

"Hurry please! I don't know if you've noticed, but we are running out of time!" "Yeah we know, 'time is of the essence' blah blah blah," Tony mocked. "It's no joking matter, Tony!" He winced, "he's dying, I can feel it. Hurry." And then the message cut out and disappeared. I snapped open my bow and notched an arrow.

"Let's go people!" I said, taking the lead. Tony pushed me aside and said, "Whoa, buddy, I'm in charge here." Then Steve came and, using his super soldier strength, threw Tony back about ten feet. "No, I'm in charge," and with that, led the way to this dark cave thing.

Natasha fished the barley cakes out of her duffel bag and threw one at each of us. I swallowed mind down and only gagged about five times.

"Alright, here we go," she said and entered the cave. It was a dark, torch-lit chamber with many engravings in the wall. I put my bow back over my shoulder and ran my fingers along one of the walls, tracing death cows and screech owls and scenes of death. I came across an engraved message that made me sigh.

Leo wuz here:)

The message was carved into the wall with what I assumed to be a screw driver.

"Hey guys, check it out!" They came and looked at the message. "Well, we're definitely in the right place," Wanda reasoned.

"Um, guys? Is that the poison we're supposed to drink?" Sam asked, pointed to a big clear chalice with menacing green liquid inside.

"Unfortunately, I have to assume it is," Tony muttered. So we passed it around, each drinking from it. And let me tell you, it did NOT taste like Powerade like I was hoping.

Tony was last and after drinking it, he gagged and wiped his mouth and pointed to the tunnel that would lead us deeper into the maze.

"I'm starting to wish more and more that we never ran into those blasted teenagers," I whispered. I received an elbow in the gut from some mystery avenger. I'm assuming Natasha, but you never know. My teammates love to hit me.

The farther down we went, the louder the whispers got. At first, I thought it was one of us, but no one was talking.

We kept walking and I couldn't shake the feeling that someone was watching me. "Clint," someone whispered. I whirled around, but no one was there.

A small hand touched my arm and I jumped about five feet. It was Wanda. "You here him too?" I blinked. Him?

I felt a breeze blow past me and I whirled around again. "You did not see that coming," came the wispy whisper. Wanda's hands lit up with her purple energy and I could see the tears in her eyes. "Pietro," she whispered.

Finally I understood. "Hey pal, slow down would ya?" "Clint? Wanda? What's wrong?" Steve asked.

"How's my sister? I am so proud of you."

"Guys, do you hear that?" Tony asked. "Who do you hear?" Wanda asked. "My dad," Tony answered and to my surprise, his voice was trembling.

"Peggy," Steve whispered. Sam started walking off, but Bruce grabbed him by the collar. "We need to stick together. The demigods warned us this would happen. The dead are beckoning us."

I nodded and grabbed Wanda's hand. I reached for someone else, paused, shuddered, and slipped my hand into Steve's. "Everyone grab hands. No wanderers," I whispered.

Once again, to my surprise, they complied.

Through the light of the torches, we could see cracks forming in the walls. I realized that not much was holding this House Of Hades together. We kept walking and came to a huge chamber.

Immediately I could detect the signs of a major battle. Scorch marks lined the walls, most likely from Leo's fire or enemy's fire.

I went to cross the chasm when Steve pulled me back by the hand. I looked down and gasped. I had just about walked right of the ledge down into an endless pit. And I had a feeling I knew where it went.

I looked more closely at the huge chamber we were in. There was a wall of rock and I imagined a scene where the crew got split up behind it.

Shadows danced across the room and I saw blood on he walls and on the floor. Abandoned weapons still littered the floor and golden dust glittered in places.

A memory hit me like a truck and we all stumbled backwards and I knew we were all seeing the same thing.

Bodies rapidly filled the chamber and among them, a few familiar demigods. Jason and Piper were fighting monsters on one side of the chamber, the side we were on, and Frank on Nico were on the other.

Piper was yelling persuasive orders at monsters and Jason was taking them out with his gladius. I turned and saw Nico with a scepter in one hand and his wicked black sword in the other. And Frank was glowing red with rage, quite literally. I realized with a start that he was commanding the ginormous army of dead.

Leo, Hazel, Percy, and Annabeth were nowhere to be seen.

The memory was pulled roughly from behind my eyes. The room was again empty of battle. I took a deep breath and let go of Steve's hand and looked to Wanda.

"Don't drop me."

She smiled, and using her powers, flew us over to the other side of the chasm. The rest of the team got varying rides from flying members of the team and Tony and Wanda tried to make a path through the rock wall.

Tony shot at it with his arc reactor energy beams and Wanda carefully removed boulders with her telekinesis.

We finally made a crawl space big enough for all of us to get through one at a time. Once on the other side of the wall, a memory hit us again.

Rocks crashed down over the tunnel. "Go!" Frank yelled. Leo and Hazel were trapped behind the wall. Hazel started screaming and crying and kicking at the rocks but soon realized it was doing no good.

She turned back to Leo and wiped her eyes. "We have to keep going," she said and they turned and ran down the tunnel.

I blinked, now back to reality. "Let's follow them," I suggested, pointing down the path Leo and Hazel once took.

As we made our way down the path, we came to a large room with half collapsed brick walls and spikes sticking out of the ground in some places.

I saw movement behind me and whirled around. A must image of Leo and Hazel dashed through a maze and the spikes on the floor were falling down again to impale them. The brick walls formed into a see-through mist image and a poisonous gas filled the tunnel they were in. They kept running.

The image disappeared and I turned to look ahead of me.

The first thing I saw was the shattered pieces of obsidian littering the ground against the far wall. By the looks of it, it must have been a crushed alter of some kind.

Then I saw the necklace. I picked it up to find an image of a maze engraved on it.

"It belonged to Paesiphaë," said a voice from behind one of the brick walls. Jaeden walked over. "She disappeared through a hole in the floor right about..." he felt around with his sneakered foot, "here."

He chuckled to himself, "That daughter of Pluto has a way with the mist, that's for sure. That's how they escaped the Labyrinth," he said, gesturing behind us. I risked a glance and saw Hazel and a screaming Leo flying through a chute and Leo landed hard on the sorceress's chest(whom I assumed was Paesiphaë).

I turned back to Jaeden and held out my hand. "The fleece please."

He laughed. "Are you serious? Did you really think it would be that easy?"

Tony scratched the back of his neck. "Kinda?"

"Look, we flew all the way to Greece for the fleece and we're not leaving without it, so hand it over," Steve said firmly.

Jaeden just crossed his arms and frowned, obviously not impressed.

"Come on, kid," Sam tried to reason, "we can do this the easy way, or we can do this the hard way. You're just one against all the Avengers. Choose wisely."

Jaeden just shook his head and looked down. "My mother is Eris, the goddess of chaos, strife, and discord. You don't scare me."

He reached behind him and pulled the Golden Fleece right out of the wall. He shook it tauntingly.

"Come on, we've fought demigods before, kid, ones more powerful then you." Tony was growing frustrated.

Jaeden tried for a deep, menacing laugh, but it didn't really come out that way. More like some weird screeches and a hiccup.

"That's where you're wrong," he said.

"What, that we haven't fought powerful demigods?" I taunted.

"No. You're wrong about me being a demigod. You see, I don't just work for Tartarus. Tartarus is my father. Eris is my mother. I'm an immortal being!"

"Oh," came my intelligent response. And with that, the ground split open in front of us and at Jaeden's command, the beasts of hell came to destroy us.

Piper's POV

Where are those stinking Avengers! They've been gone almost a full day now, which is understandable, but still, they need to hurry.

Percy's not getting any better, but much much worse. He can hardly get two words out over the pain and the medicine's not working, not giving any relief.

We tried knocking him out with some sleep meds, but that just made everything worse. The pain, the nightmares, and the thrashing. When he woke up(he didn't stay under very long) the pain was worse.

And I can tell he's trying so hard to hold on for the Avengers, but it's hard for him. He wants to be strong for us and he can't get it through his Seaweed Brain that it's okay to let go sometimes. He can scream if he needs to, it's okay. He doesn't have to hold it in for our sake.

We take turns staying with him and Annabeth. Every couple hours or so we'll switch out. Our goal is to try to ease his pain or distract him from it.

The whole camp is tense. Everyone knows something big is going down. Camp Jupiter is still here, they decided to stick around for a while longer. We all know Percy can't hold out much longer. He's been strong and so, so brave up til this point, but he deserves rest. I'm just scared to admit that that might mean Elysium.

So we need the Avengers to hurry, please. Cause we might loose Percy if they don't.
