Chapter Seven
I scream in pain as the glass goes through my leg and I begin to bleed.
I scream and cry as the neighbor picks me up and puts me on his shoulder.
But suddenly I black out, I can no longer see, I think my life is fading.
Somehow moments later I am restored and I am no longer on his shoulder. I am in the living room.
I open the front door to see a terrifying sight; just outside is a halfway set up pop up with two men on top of it, they seem to be eating something.
As I continue to look, horror and disgust filling my body, I see something; my hair. The thing they're eating has my hair color, my face.
It is me, I realize.
I see flashing lights, Red, Blue, White, coming closer to my house.
The people on the pop up, I realize are the neighbors.
But if I'm there... Then who am I? I think, I look down at myself, realizing I'm still me, that's me, there's two of me somehow.
I scream and tears run down my face.
"Stop and put your hands up!" A woman yells.
The woman from the phone! I realize, She came moments to late.
The woman and many other cops start getting out of cars and coming to the scene.
I suddenly faint and everything goes dark, but this time its different, I know I'll live, I'm not going to die this time.
When I wake up I'm at the beginning of a red carpet, being held up by my two best friends Kayla and Callie.
"What's happening?" I ask, looking at the both of them.
"There's a surprise for you, the only girl to survive that man, ever," Kayla says.
Callie nods, "You'll be alright from now on."
The police woman walks up from behind me, three small children with her.
"I Hope you don't mind, I brought my children with me," The woman says.
"Are you the woman from the phone?" I ask.
The woman nods, "I'm Sally."
"Where's my mom?" I start to cry, "is she alright?"
"Your mother is waiting for you," The police woman, Sally, led the way down the red carpet.
"Mom!" I yell when we reach the end.
I run to my mother and hug her.
"I heard they had- they had hurt you- that you were gone, but not gone- I was scared," my mother sobbed.
"I was afraid, I- I still am," I say, wiping tears from my face.
"I'm never letting you stay home alone again," mother said, wiping her own tears.
"Anne," I say as I get a glimpse of my cousin, "I guess I was right, I would die first," I laughed, knowing it was an ill joke.
Anne smiles sadly, "no idea how you manage to make a joke about your death."
"How are you feeling?" I hear Zack say.
"Well considering I just WATCHED MY NEIGHBORS EAT ME, I'm doing better than expected," I say.
Zack rolls his eyes, "as long as you're alive."
"Hey," Katy, my other cousin, says, "I'm glad you survived all that... Otherwise I wouldn't have someone to disco party and eat cheesecake with!"
"Lacy," I say, "I'm glad you could come."
"I was told you had died, been eaten, and came back to life, I wasn't gonna miss that," Lacy said, hugging me. (#@NoodlecatYT right there)
The celebration continues, a celebration of my life continuing, a celebration of my survival.
In the weeks to come me and my family were put into Witness protection and had received new names.
I had not been able to sleep without having horrifying dreams, dreams of my death, of what could have happened.
But what Callie says gives me hope; "You'll be alright from now on."
