The story of a man who fakes his identity

Domo Arigato Mr. Roboto

Rock hard arms lead me to the stage where I will be executed. I know I've sinned and killed a man, but I had a right. I don't deserve to be killed for protecting someone I love. The androids push me to my knees and hold me still. I've saved my sisters life and all I get out of it is blood on my hands and a death sentence. Can't anyone understand this situation? Of course not. My surroundings are either other prisoners or robot guards. I can't let them do this to me. I must get away from here.

As soon as I feel the guards pressing my head down, that's when I retreat and fight them off. I push them away and start to run as fast as I can. Those androids are too slow to catch me. I head towards the building and there, expectantly, there's a robot waiting. He comes at me and I jump on it and rip the mechanical head off. The guard falls and I smile at it, as I hear the thumping of his body collapsing on the ground. I was in the moon for a second before the marching of a platoon brought me back to reality. I decided to do the first thing that came to mind; grab the non-functional android and wear it as my own suit. The platoon, pass by me, unaware that I'm a fugitive. I walk by them, as slow and synchronized as the rest. To be honest it isn't easy. Walking along with every awkward movement. I head towards the exit gate as any normal android guard would. I press a button and get out of this prison. Who knew escaping would be so simple?

I decided to keep on walking and to never look back. Days and nights pass and I'm always thinking of where I am or where I'm going. No robots are supposed to sleep, so at night, I discretely doze off hoping no one passing by, in car, notices. I have to admit, I never expected a car to pass by and suddenly stop. The car chocked and turned off. All I could do was wake myself up quickly and stand straight. The silhouette of a tall, slim person ran like the wind towards my mechanical body. I could tell it was a she, the hips, the hair and obviously the clicking of her heels as she walked closer to me. I froze on the spot, which just seemed like a robotic thing to do, to any human eyes. She approached me as she looked at me in wonder and sincerity. She did not seem to know, how drop dead gorgeous she looked. When she spoke, my whole world turned around.

"Hello? Mr the robot, are you alright?" She had a soothing calming voice. I wanted to reply right away, but decided otherwise when I realized I wasn't who she thought I was. She nodded to herself, answering her own question. She eyes me and stands straight with a bright smile.

"Alright! You're coming home with me!"

From that day on, I was walking on sunshine. I had been living with this generous woman, whose name was Maria, for a couple weeks now and she made me a part of her family. She introduced me as Andy, the android, to her brother, mother and father. Of course she didn't know my real name was Luke. I'd have a hard time speaking to her since I didn't sound like any robots out there, so I let her do most of the talking.

"Dishes go here, clothing goes there." She pointed around. Of course she'd expect me to do chores., the main reason for the robots creation. The issue I was having everyday, was the part where androids don't eat. Humans need to eat. I need to eat. I sneak out every night and take some food for myself. Maria, who knows androids of 2032 are the best anyone could ever wish for, doesn't seem to notice the human characteristics showing. The walking, my voice if ever I needed to use it or even that I doze off. Maria thinks it's normal. I'm safe for now.

After living with her for months, I constantly hold myself back from starring straight at her, for she is an impressive young woman. Everyday, she helps me with chores and she makes my days brighter. She's the light in my life. The one I need. I know, I'm falling in love. I shouldn't due to my escape and my past. She walks by me, and smiles a huge grin that brings a smile to my face though she can't see it.

One night, I head to the room she told me to stay in at night, and on my way I cross her room and catch her talking over the phone.

"Ellie, I don't know what to do!" I detected a note of worry in her voice. Maria rarely worries.

"yes, I know but he's just so perfect." There was a long pause. I wanted to know what got her so worried, so I waited a while longer.

" I love Andy, and there's nothing anyone can ever do about it," my heart skipped a beat,

"when we talk, he understands me. He isn't like any other robot I've ever seen." I was about to leave when she started saying more to her friend.

"I'm going crazy! Am I crazy? Ellie, I don't know why, but he's the one for me. I love Andy. But I can't do anything about it."

I walk away, knowing I've heard too much. My heart was racing in my chest. I love her, she loves me. But she thinks I'm an android. I need to tell her. Let her know her love towards me isn't as disturbing or unnatural as she assumes it to be. I fall asleep quickly to wake up bright and early.

I stumble my way down the stairs. Maria was making breakfast and it smelled oh so delicious. Maybe after I tell her I'm Luke, the human, she will let me eat by her side. I get myself into the kitchen and Maria greets me with a radiant smile and welcoming eyes.

"Hey, Andy," she sat, "sit beside me."

"Good morning Maria. May I have permission to speak freely?" She sighs.

"Andy, you always are, you're a dear friend." She takes my mechanical hand. I stare at our joined hands.

"I'm not who you think I am, Maria." She frowned.

"You're Andy. The android who means the world to me."

"No, Maria. My name is Luke. I'm not a robot."

I stand up, as she stares at me. She blinks rapidly. I unclasp the heavy metallic suit and hear a thump as it falls to the floor. I shake my head to fix my messy hair. Maria gasps. Thank you Mr. Robot for hiding who I was for the time needed. Domo arigato.
