Chapter 28
After showering, Lorelei wanted to stay in bed all evening, cuddling with Jesse. Her ass ached, but she continued to smile. She never thought that doing anal would be possible. It was a secret fantasy of hers, one that she never mentioned to Matthew or even to Molly.
Lorelei's eyes were growing heavy, and the sun was setting through the hotel room window. Jesse's phone kept vibrating while they watched their second movie, and he checked it to ensure it was not Marlowe with news of their mother. He groaned when he saw that it was a series of texts from Jody.
"You still want to go to the Black Crow?" Jesse asked Lorelei.
Her head was resting on his chest. His fingers were lightly grazing across her spine, and she had been enjoying the feeling of his touch. Goosebumps broke out across her skin. She had forgotten they had planned with Jody to go to a club. Her new dress was still in the bag.
"Do you want to go?" she asked.
"Of course not," he said. "I want to stay like this for the rest of the night."
"Good luck telling Jody that."
Jesse chuckled as he typed a text to Jody with one hand. Lorelei closed her eyes and drifted off to sleep when his phone rang. Jesse put the call on speakerphone.
"How could you back out on me like this?" Jody asked before saying hello.
"We're tired," Jesse said.
"So, get an energy drink," she said. "I cannot stay at my parents' place all night. I'm going to go stir crazy."
"I think you'll be fine."
"I'll be thinking about Mateo all night. He stopped answering my texts."
Jesse sighed and pinched the bridge of his nose. Lorelei chewed on her lip as she sat. He pouted when she pushed herself off the bed.
"Let's get ready," Lorelei said.
"Lorelei is pulling through as always," Jody said. "I'll meet you both at the Crow in ninety minutes."
"We'll be there."
Jesse furrowed his brows and shook his head.
"See you soon," Jody said before ending the call.
Jesse tossed his phone on the bed. His lips were pressed in a scowl, and a crease was between his brows.
"We're going?" he asked. "I was pretty cozy in bed."
"We can't leave Jody alone with her thoughts," Lorelei said. "She sounded pretty upset about Mateo."
"There is a nine-hour time difference. He's just asleep."
Lorelei shrugged.
"I won't be able to relax if I know she's upset," she said. "Jody is our friend."
Jesse let out a deep breath and ran his fingers through his hair. She gave Jesse a soft smile to try and ease his anger.
"It will be fun," she said. "Besides, I never got to show you my dress."
The corner of his lips twitched into a smile. Lorelei giggled and grabbed the bag. She laid the dress out on the foot of the bed. He climbed out of bed and wrapped his arms around Lorelei from behind. She leaned back into his hold. His hands were running across her body.
"I can't wait to see you in it," he said. "I still don't want to go though."
"I bet it will be fun," Lorelei said. "I want to see this place that Jody speaks so highly of."
"It's really not that great."
Jesse bit down on her shoulder and grabbed her ass before stepping back. Lorelei grabbed a thong and one of Jesse's T-shirts. He laid back on the bed while she went into the bathroom to do her make-up and hair. When she returned, Jesse had changed into a pair of jeans, a white dress shirt, and a black tie. He watched Lorelei as she slipped on the green dress.
The dress had a deep slit up the side. Jesse's hands were rough against the soft skin of her thigh. She placed her hands on his chest, closed her eyes, and rolled her head back. There was an urge to rip off his clothes and push him back onto the bed.
"You look so sexy," he said. "I can't wait to fuck you again."
"Don't tempt me," she said.
Lorelei forced herself to take a step back. They would not leave for the rest of the night if they got back onto the bed. They could not stand up Jody like that.
"Let's go," she said.
She turned and grabbed her purse. Jesse groaned as he watched her ass in the tight fabric. A smile spread across her lips because she loved the noise.
"You're killing me," Jesse said quietly, which Lorelei barely heard.
They walked out of the hotel room together with his arm around her waist. Once they were in the elevator alone, Jesse spun Lorelei around and kissed her neck. He trailed his lips across her neck and throat. Her thighs clenched as wetness pooled.
The doors to the elevator dinged, and Lorelei pushed him away with heat rushing to her cheeks. An elderly couple was standing in the lobby waiting for the elevator. Jesse flashed a charming smile as he pulled Lorelei out of the hotel.
They got into a taxi, and Jesse kept his hand on her thigh. Lorelei was busy looking at the city's lights but was aware of his touch. Pulling up to the front of a club, he grabbed her hand and pulled her out of the cab.
There were a line of people behind a velvet rope to get into the Black Crow. Lorelei sighed and rolled her eyes.
"I haven't stood in line to get into a bar since University," she said.
Jesse chuckled. He pulled her off to the side, and they did not join the line.
"Jody used to sweet talk her way into all the clubs," he said. "She is probably planning on doing that tonight."
Jesse kept his arm around Lorelei's waist. She watched as the line did not move while they waited for Jody. She prayed Jody actually had the ability to talk her way into clubs. She would regret not staying in bed with Jesse all night if they had to spend all night in line.
There was a whistle, and Lorelei looked over her shoulder. Jody was walking up to the club. Her dark hair was in curls running down her back. She wore a short black dress with mesh panels exposing parts of her chest and belly. There was only one sleeve, so her arm tattooed with the tiger was exposed.
"Look at that line," Jody said. "This will be a fun night. Follow me."
Jody swayed her hips as she walked toward the bouncer. She flashed a big smile and winked at the man before opening her arms. The heels made Jody's short frame a little taller, but she was still at an awkward height when she hugged the bouncer. Shockingly, he hugged her back.
"Calvin!" she exclaimed. "It's been so long. You're looking great. Have you been working out more?"
Calvin chuckled.
"I thought you moved to Toronto, Jode-ster," he said.
She knew the bouncer so well that he had a nickname for Jody. Lorelei was once again amazed by this girl.
"I have to come back to see all my friends," Jody said. "And, of course, I must revisit this fun place. I can't wait to show it to my friend."
Jody waved Lorelei over. Lorelei ripped her hand free from Jesse's crushing grip, and she walked forward. Jody put her around Lorelei's shoulders.
"This is Lorelei," Jody said. "She's a Torontonian. It is her first time in Vancouver. I need to show her all of the good spots."
Calvin smirked as his eyes scanned Lorelei's body. She struggled to keep her spine straight and not shrink under his gaze.
"You girls want to have fun tonight?" he asked.
"Of course," Jody said. "I have Jesse with me too."
Calvin raised a brow.
"Aren't you two exes?" he asked.
How did a bouncer know they used to date? How often did Jody and Jesse come here? How well were they known as a couple?
A lump formed in Lorelei's throat. Was this a BDSM club? Jody said it was not a strip club, but was it some kind of sex club? She recalled Jody stating that there was no nudity, but what was she getting herself into?
"He's Lorelei's boyfriend now," Jody said. "It is a little complicated, but it works."
Calvin chuckled. He reached forward and unhooked the velvet rope. He cocked his head to the side, motioning for them to enter. A chorus of groans came from the people waiting in line.
"Have fun, girls," Calvin said before hesitating. "And Jesse."
Jesse snatched Lorelei's wrist and pulled her into the Black Crow behind Jody. Lorelei was chewing on her lip as they entered the dark stairwell leading down to the club. Her stomach flipped and twisted as she tried to prepare for what was inside the Black Crow.
