Milk

When Connie walked in and saw the jug of milk sitting on the table with the label missing, she didn't know what to say. And really, what could she?

"Morning, Ni!" Adam called upon seeing her. "We're having cereal because we're lazy."

They all nodded in cheerful agreement save for Steven, who met her eyes and then looked down at his bowl. "Uh oh."

Jasmin eyed him. "What's the matter, Big Guy? Impromptu boner?"

"Not... exactly? I have a confession," He announced to suspicious gazes.

Jacob looked down at his bowl too and frowned. "I think I might also have a confession."

Now everyone was on edge, albeit humorous.

Steven and Jacob locked eyes and they knew each other knew. "Swear to god I only put it together when you made that face just now," Jacob sighed and slumped into his chair. "I'm uh..." He couldn't bring himself to say it, but Steven understood the humiliation that came with how he felt about it. He glanced at Jasmin who was switching her gaze between the two in minor concern despite her slight grin. A thought must have crossed through Jacob's mind because his eyes widened and his head fell flat (and hard) on the table, followed by a groan of despair.

Steven on the other hand sighed in relief. "Glad to know I'm not the only one."

Hazel raised an eyebrow and stirred his cereal, taking a huge bite and munching while the three who knew stared at him in mild horror and tried to hold back hysterical laughter.

"Hazel– uh– Artez. Put the spoon down," Connie whispered sharply.

It was a rare and serious occasion for his legal name to be used, so he dropped the spoon immediately at Connie's command. "Okay, now I'm a little scared."

"You guys did notice this doesn't have a label..." Steven started, gesturing to the milk. "I personally didn't know that until just before Connie walked in. I-I did have my suspicions though, so I'm sorry in advance."

They all stared at the jug of milk sitting there as friendly and normal looking as could be. It looked like milk. It was creamy and cold from being in the fridge. The cereal was a little sweet today, but it hadn't been overwhelming.

Anna tipped her bowl back and drank a bit of milk by itself before stating, "Hm. Well, I guess I was kinda right. This isn't cow milk."

"It's Connie milk. S'why there's no label. And also why we should've been paying attention when she was talking the other day." Steven ruefully placed elbows on the table so he could plant his face in his hands.

There was a short silence before everyone burst into shy sputtering and finger pointing, not angry or upset, just shocked to no end.

"You knew the whole time and didn't say anything?!" Adam accused Steven with a red face. "Dude, I'm a grown man!"

Steven scoffed and crossed his arms. "I'm a grown man too!"

"'Baby boy' might be more accurate than we thought if you knew what it tasted like Steven," Jasmin pointed out as she held her face tight, trying to disguise a blush. "I should've known it wasn't real milk when Adam was tearing into it like that!"

Adam made a series of offended noises as Anna giggled, scratching her cheek bashfully. "I guess milk doesn't usually taste familiar..." She mumbled. "It sounds nuts but now that it's out there it tasted kinda like Connie? Is that weird?"

"Yes!" They exclaimed shrilly.

"W-well Jacob knew!" She pointed a finger at him who dropped his jaw in indignation.

"Only when Steven made that face at Connie! It was milk and edible and everyone else was doing it so I followed suit!" He cried as he slumped into Jasmin's lap. "Why don't we ever listen to Connie until it's too late?"

Jasmin sighed and rubbed his head. "It's those damn new jeans. They make her butt look fantastic and," She cleared her throat loudly. "Fuckable."

Steven faked a glare at her through his fingers. "Yeah, she's fuckable. Goddamnit you guys! I had plans today!" While he hadn't ever had it cold, he now knew he'd never ever be fooled again.

Not that he'd have to be with the raging, insistent and not going away boner he had.

"Is it... supposed to make you kinda... horny?" Adam made a face at the cereal, and then to the jug.

They sat in silence.

Connie couldn't even speak at this point, she tossed her hands up and gestured to Steven weakly.

He cleared his throat. "Y-Yeah. It does that. Probably just a psychological thing."

"I need therapy," Jacob croaked. "I need therapy to solve my Mommy Issues."

Steven chuckled tensely. "Good luck with that."

They just decided not to talk about it for the rest of the day, and spend some time to themselves until the absolute and utter embarrassment faded enough to laugh about it.
