└TWENTY FOUR┘

Things were awkward, to say the least.

Namjoon could't make it for the dinner with Jungkook's brother. So Noah went instead. Jungkook tried not to talk to him (or make any eye contact) and instead just talked to Taehyung in a quiet voice.

And goddamn were things awkward.

"So, you used to be a barista?" Jiroki rasped, and Noah hummed, swirling his straw in his vodka lemonade slowly.

"Yeah." Noah replied, and Jiroki only leaned in closer. "Did you grind coffee beans?"

"Yeah. Real hard." Niah replied huskily, and they both just looked at each other, licking their lips.

Jungkook looked at Taehyung, clearly uncomfortable by this HIGHLY sexual tension choking the air, so Taehyung cleared his throat.

"This dinner is SO much fun and totally not awkward for me and Jungkook AT all." Taehyung said, and Jungkook nodded wildly. The other two seemed lost in their own world, so Jungkook turned to Taehyung.

"Let's just go," Jungkook whispered, and Taehyung gulped. "Don't you think they'll wonder why we left?" Taehyung whispered back.

"They haven't looked at us once this whole evening. I doubt they even know we're here. C'mon, I'm getting bored and the food here is overpriced." Jungkook said, and Taehyung and him got up from their seats.

"They seriously don't notice us leaving," Taehyung said, stumped at how the two, Noah and Jiroki, were still staring at each other.

Jungkook giggled, and him and Taehyung rushed out of the restaurant, ignoring the confused looks from the bodyguards of Jiroki.

Once they were out, Jungkook shivered visibly, and Taehyung wordlessly slung his suit jacket over Jungkook, who smiled at Taehyung. Taehyung took his smaller hand in his, and they began walking down the street of the restaurant, the moon high in the sky.

Minutes later they found themselves sitting squished on a park bench alone, both eating pizza out of a box. They decided to buy some and just eat it in a park, because why not.

"Hm. Ice cream." Jungkook said, and Taehyung looked at him, chewing with his mouthful. Jungkook shook his head. "Nope- nevermind. If I could eat just one dessert other than chocolate tarts, it would be brownies."

Taehyung gulped the food and saw Jungkook gasp. "Wait, cheesecake!"

"I love cheesecake." Taehyung pointed out, and Jungkook hummed, smiling. "Yes.. chocolate cheesecake-"

"Ew, no. You can't put chocolate on everything, baby." Taehyung said, and Jungkook took a small bite of his pizza, smiling at Taehyung.

"Who's gonna stop me?" Jungkook said, and Taehyung sighed. "Not me, that's for sure."

Both giggled, and Taehyung reached his thumb forward, wiping the tomato sauce from the corner of Jungkook's lip.

"You never told me how you would propose to me." Jungkook said out of the blue, and Taehyung chuckled.

"Where'd that come from?"

Jungkook shrugged, wiping the bread dust out of his hands with a tissue. "I dunno.. I was just thinking about it."

"Well, maybe you'll find out later." Taehyung winked at Jungkook, who blushed. He reached forward, grabbing Taehyung's hand.

"You wanna marry me, Tae?" Jungkook squeaked, and Taehyung brushed his thumb over his hand.

"Of course I do, dollie. What kind of question is that?" Taehyung scoffed, and then saw Jungkook get up from the bench. Taehyung got up as well, taking the box of pizza and chucking it into the bin nearby.

Jungkook sighed, playing with the material of the suit jacket. "My feet hurt.."

Taehyung gave him a look, one Jungkook didn't see, but continued. "My feet... I think I-I hurt my heel against a sofa or something. It hurts a lot." Jungkook whined softly, and Taehyung rolled his eyes.

"Jeez, just ask me to pick you up. Don't need to come up with these excuses," Taehyung said with a grin, and Jungkook giggled. Jungkook jumped onto his back, throwing his arms over his shoulders and legs around his torso. Taehyung placed his hands under Jungkook's thighs, giving him a piggyback ride.

Taehyung started walking down the park, only holding Jungkook higher up. Jungkook giggled, giving Taehyung a little kiss on the back of his head. They started walking down the streets towards the street of their house which is half a kilometer away, when they heard a loud gunshot.

Both paused, and Taehyung turned around. "What the fuck was that?" He asked, and Jungkook gulped.

Suddenly, they saw a black car racing towards them, and then saw a hand peek out from the passenger seat with a gun, and both gasped.

Taehyung started running, and Jungkook cried out, gripping onto Taehyung's shoulders. "Let me down, Tae!" Jungkook snapped, and Taehyung started running faster. The car moved closer, so Taehyung rushed into a space between two walls, slotting himself there.

He let Jungkook down, and then looked to the side, serious look on his face. Jungkook gulped. "Tae who was that?" Jungkook asked softly, and Taehyung took his phone out, texting Mark quickly.

"No clue." Taehyung grumbled. He stepped out from that area and into the street, and then heard another gunshot. He groaned, seeing the car rushing towards them again.

Taehyung cursed under his breath and then turned to the side, and his eyes widened. "Jungkook?"

He was gone. "Jungkook?" Taehyung called again, feeling a fear bubbling in his chest.

All he saw was the empty alleyway ahead of him, and felt his breath hitch, hands going clammy by his sides. "J-Jungkook!" Taehyung shouted out, and then felt his shaky hands come up to his face, helping himself breathe.

He began running down the alleyway, frantic, feeling his fear grow ten times. Where was he? Did someone take him? He wouldn't leave, of course he wouldn't- is- is he okay?"

Taehyung couldn't deal with this, not again, not like this. It kept happening again and again and again and Taehyung doesn't know how long he can take this until he finally breaks. He can't let Jungkook get hurt. Not again. Not ever.

Jungkook looked at Taehyung peeking over the wall to see who it was, and upon hearing more gunshots, flinched. He suddenly felt an arm force its way around his waist and grab him tightly, putting one hand over his mouth.

Jungkook screamed in terror and felt himself getting dragged away, powerless against the force. He tried screaming Taehyung's name, but the older was busy with the gunshots. Jungkook got dragged down the alleyway, and then got thrown over the man's shoulder, carried somewhere.

Jungkook started kicking and thrashing his hands, crying out in fear. He got taken into a warehouse and his eyes widened, suddenly feeling more fear in his stomach.

He got thrown to the ground, and instantly saw many men standing around him, taller, broader, clearly bodyguards- holding guns and looking serious.

Jungkook whimpered visibly, feeling this creeping fear and deja vu in his stomach which worsened his worries. He felt the man behind him holding his hands tightly behind his back, and cried out, a hand still clasped over his mouth.

"This is him?" One of the men said to the other.

"Thought he'd be more... like Jiroki." Another said, and Jungkook gulped, not knowing what was going on, just being held, staring at a door.

"Why's he wearing a lady's shirt? And makeup? God, he's a fag, isn't he?" One of the men said, and they burst into laughs.

Jungkook thrashed against the man's hold, just knowing. Knowing Taehyung would find him in here and kick all of their asses. Maybe not knowing, but at least hoping.

Finally, Jungkook saw the door open, and saw a figure walk in. Jungkook felt nervousness in his stomach, and then saw light fall onto that figure, and let his eyes widen, heart almost stopping at the sight.

"F-father?" Jungkook choked out, and saw the older man walk towards him. Hair fully white, wrinkled, old. Just old.

Jungkook wanted to throw up, felt like dying right at that very moment. To see that vile, hideous man in front of him set his stomach churning. He hated it. Hated seeing his face.

"Ah, my second- no, third son. Hiding in New York wasn't enough, was it?" Dokeun spoke gruffly, voice rougher than he first remembers.

"I was hiding because of you! You- you ruined my life back then, what the fuck do you want now?!" Jungkook shouted, and then saw the man step closer.

He looked aged, so aged. Jungkook was happy to see him at this state. He didn't know if that made him a little cynical and maybe a little evil. It suited his father, looking like he was at the brink of death. Jungkook only wishes it came soon.

"You." Dokeun growled. "Jiroki thinks I'm stupid and let him have everything. He's nothing but an arrogant bastard," Dokeun laughed. "I need you- because I know how much those fools care about you. Namjoon, Jin, that lot. They'll come after you, and when they do, I'll have them on their knees, Jungkook. Working for me again. They think they can be on their own? After fucking me over? Not a chance."

"Do you realise you are an old ass man?? No one cares about this mafia bullshit but you, father! The point of mafias are that it's supposed to be run as a family! A family doesn't work if you kill everyone, father!" Jungkook shouted.

Dokeun snickered, but Jungkook continued. "You want to know why you lost everything? Why everything slipped from your hands so quickly? Because the truth is, the truth is you were never good at it. Your father, your grandfather, your great grandfather- all of them lead this prestigious mafia for years and years! And you came along and fucked everything up, didn't you?"

Dokeun frowned for a second, and Jungkook only continued. Didn't even hear the doors of the warehouse slamming open. Didn't even see Taehyung at one entrance with Jiroki, and Namjoon and Jin at the other, all looking nervous.

"You were never a good husband! Never close to a good leader! And never, ever a good father. Your father made this mafia what it is because he didn't kill his wife, and he didn't kill his son, and he didn't let his youngest son get raped by his enemy! He didn't do that, father! That's why he died happily, and you'll die a son of a bitch! A fucking failure with absolutely nothing to account for! You're nothing, do you understand that? You ruined everything for yourself and for me and you'll die sad and lonely, and I'll be happy!" Jungkook screamed, voice hoarse, not realising the tears rushing down his eyes.

The bodyguards of his father scrambled around, trying to stop Taehyung and Jiroki from one end, and Namjoon and Jin from the other. Jungkook heard some gunshots and snapped his head to the side to see Taehyung holding a gun, smoke rushing out of the pistol end, two dead men on the floor.

Taehyung looked at Jungkook and rushed over to him. Jungkook gulped, taking a step back from his father, who stood there, frozen.

It was like what Jungkook said made sense. And it did, of course it did. It was Jungkook's breaking point.

Jungkook saw Namjoon and Jin on the other side of the warehouse, shooting at the guards there. He's guessing they had a similar driving incident and came by, meanwhile Jiroki's bodyguards and himself were fighting the guards.

"Baby," Taehyung called out, wrapping his arms around Jungkook's waist, and kissing his forehead really hard. "Oh, baby, I-I got so scared," Taehyung let out, and Jungkook gripped Taehyung's shirt.

"I-I wanna leave, please," Jungkook whispered, and then heard a loud gunshot.

Jungkook heard Taehyung shout out in pain, and Jungkook's eyes widened. "T-Tae-" Jungkook cried out, and then saw Taehyung fall to the floor, vein popping in his forehead.

"Taehyung!" Jungkook said loudly, reaching down to where Taehyung was on the floor, a bullet shot into him. Into his ankle.

Jungkook saw the blood pouring out of his ankle and instantly took off his jacket and wrapped it around his ankle, looking at Taehyung with widened eyes. "T-Tae, pl-please-" Jungkook cried out, and Taehyung grabbed his wrist.

"I-I'm fine, don't worry a-about me, dollie." Taehyung choked out, and Jungkook shook his head, tears in his eyes.

"N-no- the- the b-bullet could hit a-a nerve an-and it could k-k-" Jungkook started, but Taehyung let out a chuckle, one that sounded pained, a hand on his abdomen.

"D-don't worry-" Taehyung said, a small smile on his face. Jungkook shook his head, putting pressure on Taehyung's ankle.

"No- t-this c-can't happen again, I-I won't let it. I don't care, I'm not l-letting you leave me, Taehyungie- n-not again," Jungkook cried out, voice going squeaky. "P-please-"

Another gunshot came Jungkook's way, but it went over his head and into the pillar behind him. Jungkook snapped his head up and saw his father holding a gun, looking angered.

"Dokeun, you cuntbag, will you stop fucking with your family for one goddamn minute!" Jiroki shouted, looking extremely angered with dark hair falling on his face, sleeves of his black shirt rolled to his elbows as he held a gun.

Jungkook grabbed Taehyung's gun, standing up. "What? What do you want from me? Why are you trying so hard to grasp onto strings of power, father? It's gone, it's all gone now!" Jungkook snapped, fingers shaking.

Dokeun laughed. "I haven't lost any power- I- I haven't lost any of it!" He shouted, clearly out of his mind, hysterical. Maybe Jungkook's words sent him over the edge, but Jungkook didn't care.

"Dokeun!" Jiroki shouted again, and one of Dokeun's guards punched Jiroki in the face. Jiroki growled and kicked the dude in the balls, taking a gun and shooting him in the forehead.

"Accept it now, father, and we won't do anything. Maybe you'll get to live. Just, please, for the sake of your sons, your pride, your blood- let everything go. You can be fine too. You can be happy too, you just need-" Jungkook started, but then saw Dokeun's eyes glimmer with darkeness.

"You won't listen, will you little one? Well what if I-" Dokeun started, taking the gun and pointing it right at Taehyung.

Jungkook's eyes widened, and so did Jiroki's, and everyone else's- and Jungkook cried out in protest, and then a gunshot went off.
