three

The four Marauders were in the back of the library arguing, while Remus was trying to be quiet and respect Madam Pince. If the Marauders weren't in there, the library would be silent as it should have be.

"Shh!" Madam Pince shushed for the hundredth time.

The boys didn't listen. Instead, James and Sirius began shoving Remus toward Dawn, who was silently writing her essay for Divination in the corner of the library.

Unlike the Marauders, Madam Pince liked Dawn because she never caused any trouble and was always checking out books for homework assignments.

Remus planted his feet onto the floor. "I don't want to - no, James! Sirius, stop! What? No, I don't want to - "

"Just go, you poor excuse of a man!" Sirius shouted with his final shove.

Remus went tumbling forward and he slammed his hands on the table to balance himself.

"Shh!" shushed Madam Pince.

Dawn looked up curiously, her hand that was writing pausing in the process. "What are you doing, Remus?"

He was at a loss for words. "Uh - I - I don't know." His cheeks reddened as he pulled out the chair across from her and sat down.

Her lips tugged up. "You don't know?"

"Yea." He tried to look anywhere but at her.

She hummed. "Interesting. Do your feet just bring you to random places, then?"

If he answered yes, he'd look like an idiot. If he answered no, he'd have to make up a new excuse. Remus stuttered on his words and ended up shrugging with a nervous smile. Dawn laughed out loud, making Madam Pince sigh and shush her. She was disappointed in Dawn for breaking the silence of the library.

From behind Dawn, James and Sirius were mouthing the words 'Ask her to Hogsmeade!' Remus turned his attention back to Dawn. He opened his mouth to speak.

"Do you want to go to Hogsmeade with me on the class trip, Remus?" Dawn asked.

Remus's mouth was wide open.

"Remus?"

"Oh - yeah! I mean, I'd love to go with you," he replied, attempting to play it cool.

Dawn gave him a knowing look. Remus coughed and smacked his chest lightly.

She smiled and got up from her seat. "I'll see you this weekend, yeah?"

He nodded, his mouth suddenly dry and parched. She packed up her stuff and started walking away until she turned around.

"Oh - and I know you're there, boys," she said, raising an eyebrow to the bookcase they were hiding behind.

There was silence.

Dawn chuckled. "Fine. I'll go talk to Lily now."

In a rush, James came tumbling out. "Wait!"

The rest of the Marauders groaned at how stupid he was.
