nine

The full moon was nearing and Remus always found himself biting his lip hard enough to draw blood while furrowing his eyebrows.

"Relax, Moony. You biting your lip and furrowing your eyebrows isn't helping," James stated, patting his friend on the back.

"But, Dawn," he started, "what do I do about her? I can't tell her that I'm a werewolf. She'll think I'm a monster."

"We don't think you're a monster," Peter honestly replied. "You're our friend, Remus. But you're her boyfriend, and somehow, that's actually more important than us right now. She accepted you for who you are, and you did the same. Why would she throw you away?"

They all stared wide-eyed at Peter.

"I think that's the most you've spoken this year, Wormtail," Sirius commented.

Peter nodded.

James sighed. "And he's gone, but he's right, Remus."

"What am I supposed to do, lock her in a tower far, far away and make her watch me transform from there?" Remus incredulously asked.

Sirius shrugged. "Sounds good to me."

"I am not locking my girlfriend in a tower!" he exclaimed.

"You said it first."

"Well, technically, he suggested it," James corrected.

"Shut it, Prongs," retorted Remus.

"Tell her. She might think you're cheating on her or something," Sirius replied, now sick of trying to convince Remus that he wasn't a monster to Dawn.

"I would never," Remus snarled.

Remus was known for his mood swings near the full moon. Usually, his mood swings were just being angry and impulsive. Sirius said nothing but threw his hands up.

"What if she runs?" Remus asked.

"Then, you'll hunt her down - werewolf or human."

Remus gulped. "I'll hurt her," he whispered.

"You'll hurt her when she finds out twenty years later," Peter spoke up again.

"You can't hide it forever. She's smart - Dawn. Once she figures out what type of night you're always gone, she'll piece it together," James said.

"All right."

"All right, what?" James asked as he looked at Sirius and Peter.

"All right, we tell her. All right, we show her," Remus replied.

"All right, we lock her in a tower?" Sirius asked.

"No, all right."
