Chapter 20 - Due Date

July 15, 2015

We were a few days away from my due date. Neither Mikey nor Louis were in Australia. Michael was currently on a plane to come home for a few weeks to be with me until the babies are born and for a little while after that. He would be in Sydney in less than three hours.

Louis told me he wouldn't be able to make it, and because of my hormones right then, I cried for over an hour when he told me that. I was okay with it afterwards, but I really wanted him to be here for the birth of his child, even if he wasn't in the delivery room.

Mum and Dad were currently at our grandparents house with Ruby and Joshua for the evening, but she wanted Daniel to stay home with me just in case anything happened.

I was at my house and on the couch, sitting next to Daniel. I got small pains in my stomach and my back. Thanks to what my doctor told me, I knew I was having contractions. They weren't bad yet, though, and they weren't very close together in time.

"Are you okay, Haven?" Daniel asked as he looked at me holding my stomach.

"Yeah, I'm fine. It's just a contraction. They're not bad yet, don't worry," I assured him.

"Don't you want to go to the hospital? Just in case they get any worse?" He offered.

"No, let's wait until they get closer together. They'll be fine," I smiled at him. I was really thinking that soon, everyone would know my secret. Michael would know, Michael's parents would know, my parents would know, and my siblings would know. I wasn't sure of what I should do. Should I tell Michael before I have the babies or wait?

"Haven, you're having a c-section. If we go now, they'd probably take you into an emergency c-section," he pointed out. I nodded, and he offered to drive me to the hospital.

"But Michael isn't here yet," I fought. I didn't want to leave without Michael being there.

"Haven.." Daniel looked at me with a straight face, "Trust me."

"No, Daniel," I then remembered what my doctor had told me to do, "My doctor told me that it was okay to have contractions, just as long as they don't get any closer together than about three or four minutes. Then, he would want me to come in for the c-section to make sure everything goes smoothly. Even if I'm not having contractions three to four minutes apart on my scheduled date, I would still go in for the c-section."

"Okay, I guess that makes sense," he nodded, and he got up from the couch before asking me if I wanted anything to eat.

"Hmmm... A little bit of cookie dough?" I suggested.

"Haven, I don't think we have any-" he stopped after I gave him a look. He continued after sighing, "I'll make some."

"Thank you," I smiled and returned my focus to the tv.

He came back a few minutes later with a small bowl of cookie dough in his hands and two bottles of water for both him and me.

The next morning, I woke up to see Michael lying right beside me. Seconds after I woke up, he woke up and smiled at me.

"Hey babe," he kissed my forehead.

"Hey Mikey," I pecked his lips, "how was your flight?"

"Good. How have you been feeling? When I got here last night, I talked to Daniel, and he told me that you had been having some contractions," he seemed worried.

"Yeah, but they weren't bad. I'm fine," I smiled.

"Okay. Just tell me if you feel that we need to go in early to the hospital. I know you're not scheduled for another four days, but just let me know, babe. Okay?"

"Okay," I nodded.

------

Later that day, at about noon, I was getting lunch and I realized that my contractions were getting closer together than normal. I sat down in the living room for a few minutes, thinking that would help. It didn't help much at all. I soon figured out the contractions were about four minutes apart.

"Michael!" I yelled up to my bedroom where he was. I got out my phone and texted Louis that I was getting ready to go in for an emergency c-section.

"Haven!?" Michael exclaimed, and I could hear my bedroom door shutting, "Are you okay?"

"We need to go," I told him as he ran into the kitchen. I put away the stuff I had gotten out to use for my lunch, then got shoes and a jacket on. I told my parents that we were leaving, we were going to the hospital. They decided they'd come with us, but not in the same vehicle.

"Michael, help," I pleaded as I tried to get my shoes on. After grabbing his shoes in his hand, he helped me get my shoes on.

I made my way to the car and Michael came after me, hopping to try to get his shoe on his left foot.

He got into the driver's side and began to drive us to the hospital. I told him not to rush, that we would be okay whenever we got there. It didn't matter how fast we got there. I just wanted to make sure that we could do a c-section to make things easier.

I talked to my doctor soon after we arrived at the hospital, and he suggested to take us in for an emergency c-section.

When we got into the room, Michael was already in full-body scrubs and had a mask on his face. He pulled it down to whisper in my ear, "We're about to meet Makenna and Ryder." He then smiled. I nodded, and when he looked away, I sighed.
