Chapter 15 - Heteropaternal Superfecundation
February 28, 2015
It was the day of my sixteen-week checkup. Michael and I had been in Saitama, Japan because the 5sos boys were preforming as One Direction's opening act, but it would only be a few more shows because the 5sos boys were then going on their own tour.
I was glad we were in Saitama with One Direction because we were close to Louis, and I could talk to him at any time about the babies. He was really supportive.
My bump was now getting to that point where it's noticeable, but it wasn't to the point where it got in the way yet. It was actually pretty cute, as Michael always told me.
Michael and I made our way to the hospital for my sixteen-week checkup. We waited for a few minutes before they called us into a room. I saw that she had the ultrasound equipment out.
"This is your sixteen-week checkup, correct?" She smiled, looking at her clipboard. I nodded, and she smiled. She got out the wand and the gel to begin the ultrasound.
"We will not be able to tell the genders yet today, but we will the next time, which would be your twenty week checkup. You could come in earlier than that if you'd like to find out the genders earlier," the doctor explained. I nodded, understanding. She continued, "The babies look fine. They should start moving soon, so if you feel movement, don't worry. Usually it's a happy feeling. Also, would we be able to take blood today? We just want to make sure everything is okay and regular."
"Yeah, that would be fine," I nodded. She continued the ultrasound, pressing a few buttons on the keyboard. She stopped moving the wand and showed Michael and me the screen.
"Baby A, Baby B," she pointed to the babies on the screen. I smiled at the screen, then smiled at Michael. He grinned as well.
The doctor printed out copies of the ultrasound. She then took some blood and walked out of the room for a minute. When she walked back in, copies of the ultrasound were handed to us.
Michael and I left after I wiped off my stomach. We walked hand-in-hand to leave the hospital and to get to our car.
Michael drove us to the arena where he would be preforming that night. The boys were all asking if we had found out the genders, but I told them that we would know soon.
Michael got up onto the stage with his guitar to go through rehearsals with Luke, Ashton, and Calum. I stood by the side of the stage and watched.
Michael began to sing his part in one of the songs, and the one baby kicked. I held my stomach, excited. It felt so realistic now. I began crying happy tears.
I called, "Michael!" He looked over at me with my hands on my stomach and tears rolling down my cheek. He must've thought something was wrong because he said into his mic, "Just give me a minute."
He ran to the side of the stage where I was. He put his hand on my chin to bring my eyes up to him, "Are you okay? What's happening?"
"It's kicking," I smiled, pointing to a side of my stomach. He laid his hand there and smiled back at me, "It must like hearing me sing."
"Probably. It might like hearing you sing just as much as I do," I pecked his lips, "Now go ahead and go back out there."
Michael walked back up on the stage and I walked to the dressing room where everyone else was at. I let them feel the babies moving. The doctor told me the babies might have been moving soon, and she was right. They moved pretty soon after I had my checkup.

Later that night, the 5sos boys were actually preforming at the concert while I was standing off to the side of the stage as I always do. I got a call, so I walked not the dressing room to talk to whoever was calling.
"Hello?" I answered.
"Hello, Haven. This is Dr. Sato.." She introduced herself, "I'm calling because of something we've found out about your twins from your blood."
What could be in my blood that affects my twins? We're the twins okay? I got worried, so I just answered, "And what would that be?"
"Well, we've concluded that heteropaternal superfecundation has occurred. That happens when each twin is fathered by a different males," she explained.
"Oh.. okay," I choked on my words, trying to get them out. I finally answered with, "Thank you.."
"You're welcome, Miss Robinson."
I hung up the phone and put it back in my pocket. One of the babies was Louis's. One of the babies what Michael's. This was not good.
I walked to where Louis was sitting with the other boys, and I grabbed his hand. I held up his pointer finger of his other hand as if to tell me to wait a minute.
"Louis.." I begged, pulling on his hand.
"Haven, what do you want?"
"I need to talk to you.. privately," I stood there for a minute while he looked up at me, "Please.."
"Okay," he got up from the couch and walked with me into a closet, just where we could get away from everyone else.
"What did you want to talk about? Or do you want to-"
"No, I need to tell you something really important."
"What is it?" He asked worriedly because of the tone of my voice, "Is something wrong? Are you okay? Are the twins okay?"
"Yeah, I'm okay. The twins are okay, I guess. The only thing wrong with the twins is that they have different fathers.."
Louis studied me for a minute, thinking. I bit my lip as I looked at him, worried about what he would think.
"Hav," he bit his lip too, looking down at the ground, "So you're saying only one of the babies is mine?"
"Yeah, that's what I'm saying. It's called heteropaternal superfecundation. I had sex with you one night, then the next night I had sex with Michael, causing two different eggs to be fertilized by two different people. One of the babies is Michael's child, and the other baby is your child."
"Oh my god.." He was shocked, but he smiled at me, "That's great. The only thing is.. Michael will know about us. How will he react?"
"I don't know.." I shook my head, beginning to cry.
He pulled me into a hug and whispered, "I'll be there for you. You don't have to worry about anything.."
