1- If you could be a literary character, who would it be?
I would be Axel Lidenbrock from Journey to The Center of The Earth. I think going on that journey would be he coolest thing ever.
2- When you look at the dress, do you see white and gold or black and blue?
White and gold, apparently. I just had to go check.
3- Marvel or DC Comics?
DC by far! I love the little experiments they take with the content they put out. And the Vertigo imprint has shaped my writing life in ways nothing else has.
4- What's the first thing you can remember wanting to be?
I wanted to make stuff. Which is what I'm doing now, I guess.
5- What are your favourite three shows of all time?
Sherlock, Neon Genesis Evangelion and Adventure Time.
6- When it comes to writing, what is one genre you won't touch? Why?
My literary hero China Mieville once said he wanted to try writing in every genre. I kinda want to do that too. But I don't think I'm very good at epic fantasy. I tried once and failed.
7- How old were you when you started writing?
I was seven or eight, I think, when I wrote "The Adventures of Cool-Boy and Christopher Holmes". The story involved the eponymous Cool-Boy and Sherlock Holmes' great great great great grandson solving crime in the twenty third century.
8- What is one of your pet peeves?
When people call me Dave. It's been happening long enough for me to get used to it and in some way reconciled to it, but I don't like very much when people shorten my name.
9- If you won fifteen million dollars tomorrow, what would be the first thing you do?
I dunno. Put it in the bank, maybe. Or give it to someone who can put it to good use.
10- iPhone or Android?
iPhone all the way. Androids look ugly.
11- You were dropped in the last scene you wrote. Where are you and what is happening?
A lesbian vampire is being killed by her lover in a car way out in the middle of nowhere while a fat man named Geoff watches. (Consult The Jasmine Princess in Shorts)
12- Dream car?
The BMW X-5 Tom Hardy's character drove in Locke. I want to own that car.
13- What's the coolest word you know?
I love the use of the word treasure as a term of endearment. I always use that a lot in many of my stories.

I know the words to every Mumford & Sons song ever.
I play guitar, mandolin and the drums, though none of them very well.
I love broccoli and spinach.
I also love all pastas with cheese in them. My favourite right now would be Cheesecake Factory's Louisiana Chicken Pasta.
I love video games. A lot. Bloodborne is what I' m devouring currently.
I'm not going to switch to contacts ever. Glasses are awesome.
I make a mean brownie.
I'm a huge Rooster Teeth fan.
This doesn't really count but I'm trying to learn Photoshop.
The reason is so that I can slowly begin making my own book covers. It'll be a long time till I get there, though.
Obviously, I'm vamping.
