Never Again (Part 2)
(Cetra’s POV: )
As I sat, I heard the banging in the distance. Then it stopped. I looked around frantically with my camera ready. I didn’t see it. The banging began again and I relaxed. I shouldn’t have. I got up and guessed my best the direction of the TARDIS and began walking as quietly as I could. I eventually came to a brick house. My eyes narrowed. It looked very small. The door was barely tall enough for me... maybe the freakishly tall thing couldn’t get in then. I slowly walked inside. There was no furniture. No floor even; just dirt. There was a ceiling and a ladder. I climbed up and looked around. The walls were all metal, even the slanted roof. I caught sight of another note.
“That was not wise” it said. I turned around and backed into a corner, facing the rest of the room. I did not hear the banging. There was scratching around downstairs. I sat down in the corner, my camera ready. I looked around cautiously. I saw a window I had not noticed before. I slowly crawled over to it, scuffing my knees up on the rough floor. I peeked out, my camera still first. I saw nothing; just trees. I looked into the sky. The tree cover was too thick to see any stars or anything. I sighed sadly, just wanting to break down and cry. I was done with this- this sick game the thing was playing with us. I whimpered and stood back up, turning to the ladder across the room. As I began to walk, something grabbed my coat collar. I screamed and looked behind me. To my horror I saw a long, suit-clad arm and white fingers on the windowsill. I saw its head. I screamed again and broke away from its grip. It was left groping for me. Before it left I managed to get a picture of it, and then it leaving. The banging slowly faded away, and I went back into my corner and cried.
(The Doctor’s POV: )
I wandered through the forest, barely surviving the painful silence. No birds, no bugs, no noise except the constant footsteps of the thing. I shuddered at the thought of its... extensions and gripped my sonic. My sonic! I never looked at the results. I shone the torch on it. It gave me no result, no reading. That meant that either this thing didn’t exist or hasn’t been recorded... ever. I walked into a wall. I cried out angrily from my back on the ground and looked at what I ran into. A wall. A plain, randomly placed brick wall. I groaned and got up, rubbing my nose. I put away my sonic and walked around it, looking curiously at it. On the other side was another note. I gingerly took it off and read it.
“Your little friend ran. That angered the Slender Man” I put the note in my pocket. That was the fourth note I had found. Assuming Cetra had not found any, I was halfway there. And I knew what it was called; Slender Man. The name suited him. I walked away from the wall, not hearing the footsteps.
(Cetra’s POV: )
I slowly made my way out of the safe haven and walked aimlessly, still drying my eyes from my panic attack. A sudden breeze blew past me and a note dropped out of thin air and fell at my feet. I whimpered and fought back more tears as I picked it up.
“Here comes the Slender Man, close your eyes. When comes the Slender Man, so does your demise. Seven of eight you have now found. You and the Time Lord will soon be upon the ground.” This one was the longest I had found. I shoved it in with the others and stood by myself for a moment, taking in the silence. No birds, no wind, no footsteps. I fainted from fear.
(The Doctor’s POV: )
In the silence of the forest, I heard a sudden but light thud. It wasn’t Slender Man, so I went towards it. I saw someone on the ground and I sprinted over, and saw that it was Cetra. I immediately squatted down next to her and held her up, scanning her with my sonic. She had just fainted from fear. I rummaged in her bag and pulled out notes that she had found and her camera. I read her notes and got very angry at the last one. I looked at her most recent photo. She had gotten a decent one of the Slender Man. I studied it carefully. It appeared he had no features. Just a white face. He wore an unnecessary black tailored suit and tie. He had abnormally long legs, arms and fingers. His hands were the same white as his face, and his fingers seemed to end in somewhat of a point. I put everything back in her bag to be later examined in the TARDIS. I sat her back against the nearest tree with both torches in my hands, guarding her.
(Cetra’s POV: )
I woke up against a tree and without my torch. I scrambled around on my hands and knees, searching for my torch and beginning to panic again. Hands appeared on my shoulders. I didn’t scream but I was pushing away with all my strength.
“Hey, hey, hey, hey, hey, hey! It’s okay!” The Doctor said comfortingly. He pulled me into his chest and rubbed my back as I submitted and balled up, crying pathetically. “It’s okay. It’s okay. I’ve found you. Sssh... Sh-sh-sh-sssh. It’s okay.” He soothed. I calmed down eventually and I moved next to him, leaning against the tree.
“So what happens when we find the eighth?” I asked in a whisper.
“I don’t know. I have never seen anything like him before. He seems to like playing with us. He separated us and then let us find the notes so that he could have simple entertainment.” He rambled. I nodded and looked around nervously. “So, we could either camp out till the sun rises –assuming it will and we’re on Earth- and hope he doesn’t get us, or we keep wandering and try and find the TARDIS.” He reasoned.
“I never thought I would miss your rambling...” I mumbled. He scowled and rolled his eyes.
“So, I have had no way to tell how long we’ve been out here. I don’t know how much longer we have till the sunrise and the lack of noise is... not helping.” He continued. I heard a bang. Far away, but loud. Our heads both snapped the direction of it and we jumped up. Taking each other’s hands, we sprinted opposite of it. Another one came from ahead of us. We turned away and again went opposite. Two came again. Three, four. I was beginning to panic again. We had stopped in a small clearing. We looked up into the sky. We couldn’t see anything but a few pale stars. I began hyperventilating as the heavy steps surrounded us, coming from every direction. He squeezed my hand, looking around anxiously. It didn’t help. I thought I saw white a distance away. And again. And again. I was fully hyperventilating now. The Doctor finally looked down at me and noticed my panicking. He seemed to forget the closing in Slender Man and bent down to me, putting a hand on each side of my waist.
“Hey.” He started. I looked down at the ground, embarrassed at myself. “Look at me. Hey, look at me.” He commanded. I sheepishly looked up, beginning to cry. “We’re going to get out of this. We always do, don’t we?” He said. I didn’t answer him. “Don’t we?” He repeated. I nodded and wiped my eyes. “Right. So let’s do it again.” He finished. He let go of my waist, straightened up, and took my hand. He grinned stupidly as I gave him a weak smile. Suddenly white hands appeared at his waist and he was lifted off the ground and pulled back. I screamed and ran after him into the trees.
