Never Again (Part 1)

Okay, so, this is kind of a continuation of A Vacuum and the Doctor but not really xD I've always wanted to do a DW/Slenderman book because I haven't seen one before. So I apologize if the Doctor or Slender are not like you would expect them to be. This is a spur-of-the-moment thing.

(Third-person POV: )

The sun had finally set. He would’ve grinned... if he could. He set out of his corner of the forest and waited.

The TARDIS landed and Cetra grinned. The Doctor looked over at her and laughed triumphantly. He ran over to the doors and opened them a crack, sticking his head out. Cetra stood by the console, her arms crossed. He brought his head back in and pushed the door closed and looked at her, very concerned.

“I don’t know where we are.” He said simply. Cetra shrugged. “That’s new.” He added. Cetra sighed at his (in her eyes) over-reaction and walked over to the door, shoving him out of the way and opening it. She pulled back in and gave him a sarcastic look.

                “Earth.” She confirmed.

“Yeah, that’s what I thought, but it doesn’t smell like Earth.” He whined. She rolled her eyes and tried to step out. He grabbed her shoulder and stopped her. “Don’t. We... we should leave. Now.” He said sternly.

“What could happen?” She asked, annoyed. Her third go and this was all she got?

“I don’t know and that’s what worries me.” He answered, looking out the doors into the dark forest warily. She yanked herself out of his grip and went out. “Wait! Cetra! Argh!” He cried out. She went a few feet out and looked around. She looked back and didn’t see him. She sniffed a little bit. Smelled normal to her. The Doctor appeared behind her with a torch in hand. He gave her an unnecessarily big one and stood in front of her protectively. They began walking aimlessly. As she walked, Cetra thought she heard a faint banging sound; like heavy footsteps. She dismissed it as miners or loggers. After all, they were in a forest and it smelled like mountain air. The Doctor heard the same, but kept guessing and hoped Cetra didn’t notice it.

They came to an old broken-down truck. It was eaten by rust and had peeling yellow-coloured paint holding on for dear life. Cetra walked up to it, pulling her camera out of her bag and taking pictures as the Doctor watched her cautiously. He turned his head away from her for a moment –just a moment, mind you- and she was gone. So was the truck.

                (Cetra’s POV: )

I happily took photographs of the old truck, excited to get them printed out. I loved old things. They made me think of memories and how they were made, and then I want to search out just that. I smiled as I realized I could; I had a time machine at my disposal. I put my camera back in my bag and turned to go back to the Doctor, but he wasn’t there. I spun around, looking for his ridiculously long coat but not seeing it. I creased my eyebrows, feeling my heart rate increase.

“Doctor!” I shouted. No answer. I buttoned my coat and held on to the strap across my chest tightly with one hand and began back-tracking to the TARDIS with the torch on the other.

                (The Doctor’s POV: )

I grasped my torch tightly and walked among the trees, my hearts beating ridiculously fast. I shouldn’t be scared. I’m just in a forest. Nothing to be scared of! I can negotiate with dangerous animals. No! It’s Cetra I’m scared for. A young girl, alone in a dark forest. Alone. She must be terrified. I quickened my pace.

                (Cetra’s POV: )

I was lost. Completely, totally, undoubtedly, lost. I was scared. I was alone in the forest. A dark, isolated forest. Alone. I put my back to a tree and sighed heavily, closing my eyes. I heard the banging again. It was louder. Closer maybe. I did some breathing exercises to calm myself down. When that didn’t work I quietly, very quietly, sang a song. I continued to sing as I began walking again.

                (The Doctor’s POV: )

My torch shone light on something brightly coloured. An image of Cetra’s bright “Keep Calm” t-shirt flashed through my mind and I quickly ran to the object. I was discouraged and disappointed as I saw that all it was only a piece of paper. I looked closer at it and took it down off the tree.

“One of 8 you have found, soon you will be dead upon the ground” It read. My eyes narrowed on the thin, scrawled writing.

                (Cetra’s POV: )

I began the song once again, finally calming down. The banging was still going, but in the back of my mind. Earlier I had reached a fence. Now as I walked I ran my hand along the white pickets, the torch lighting my path ahead of me. My hand touched something that wasn’t wood. I looked over at the piece of paper and pulled it off the fence.

“Music soothes the savage beast. Too bad I don’t have ears.”  My heart rate increased so much with those two sentences I thought it would break out of my chest. I stuffed the note in my bag and held the strap once again, beginning my song. I put my back to the fence and walked sideways in front of it, my torch shining into the forest. It shone on something white. I stopped and peered at it. It wasn’t paper again; it was rounded. I stepped forward to get closer to it, and I realized that the banging had stopped.I saw how high up the white thing was. I ran the torch light down and down... and down. A large, black shape was what the light revealed. Two white hands hung on either side of it. I backed up against the fence again and moved the light up to the round white shape. It was a featureless head.

                (The Doctor’s POV: )

I heard a high-pitched girly scream. I set off running towards it but ran into a tree.

                (Cetra’s POV: )

I turned and ran from the thing along the fence as fast as I could. I heard a horrible wheezing noise that was as loud as my scream from earlier. I just ran faster. After a few minutes I slowed to a brisk walk and eventually stopped, slumping myself against the fence with my knees up to my chin. I sang my song over and over, rocking back and forth a little bit. I heard the banging again, but it was quieter than before. I had an idea. I shakily took my camera out of my bag and began walking again, but into the forest and away from the fence.

                (The Doctor’s POV: )

I sat up and rubbed my head, staring at the tree in front of me that I had embarrassingly run into. I heard the banging noise again and jumped up. It was louder than before and a bit closer. My hearts’ rates increased once again and I walked forward slowly. I saw some large fuel tanks and went closer to them. On the first one there was another note. I pulled it down and read it.

“The Time Lord is so brave. I wish I could say the same for his little friend.” I put the sinister note in my pocket with the other one and climbed on top of the tanks. I stood on the middle one and spun around, shining my torch and looking. For what I wasn’t sure, but I now knew something was hunting Cetra and I.

                (Cetra’s POV: )

I found myself at the old truck again. I sighed and sat on the hood, still brandishing my camera. I put my hand down and felt more paper. I jumped at the thought and carefully peeled it off the metal.

“4 out of 8 you now have. You’re lucky I like you” I whimpered a little bit and stuffed it in my bag.

                (The Doctor’s POV: )

I had found my way to a white picket fence. I saw footprints in front of my path and I knew Cetra had come this way. Suddenly the banging stopped. I whipped my head around to the forest, torch in one hand and my sonic in the other. All I saw was a white rounded shape very high off the ground. I tilted my head to the side a little bit, curious. The last papers had been square. I saw two white shapes a lot farther down. They moved. My eyes widened and I fumbled finding the button on my sonic. The white shape began to come closer. I got my sonic working and scanned it. I didn’t have time to look at the results because eight tentacle-type things opened out of its stomach and began barrelling towards me. I run as fast as I could to my right, leaving the thing behind me.
