A Vaccum and the Doctor

I do not own Doctor Who. I do not own the Doctor. I own my character and this storyline. I want to give credit to my friend for coming up with her first name. I promised her I would. This is the 10th Doctor. Please vote and comment. Thank you, fun peoples!

In a small, quiet library, a young girl sat in a corner lit only by a small lamp. All day she sat there, not speaking once. People passed in front of her all day, but she just sat there, reading. When she finally looked up, no one was in the library. She cursed in her head; she had read past closing time again. She sighed and got up, putting the finished book back on the shelf and pulling out her phone.

"Stayed past closing again. Be home in the morning," she texted. Her mum would be worried sick. She walked downstairs to the basement level and began browsing the shelves for a book for the next 8 hours until the library opened again. She put in ear buds and ran her finger along the bindings slowly. Suddenly her music changed in the middle of the song. She shrugged it off and pulled out a book. It skipped again and she pulled her IPhone out of her pocket and glared at it as it continued flipping from song to song. She pulled out her ear buds, but dropped the phone as someone grabbed her hand and pulled her away. She immediately looked at the man and pulled her hand out of his but kept running alongside him. He led her to the lift and they entered. Halfway up, he pulled out a small silvery device and pointed it up, making a buzzing noise come from it and a blue light shine. When he was done he pocketed it and smiled friendlily at the girl. She just stared at him uneasily.

"Hello! I'm the Doctor!" He introduced, smiling eagerly at her. She nodded and looked at the floor, sad. "What's the matter?" He asked immediately concerned. She shook her head no, looked up at him and faked a smile. He knew it was a fake but went along with it. "Anyway... You know why your music was changing?" He asked. She shook her head no again. "You know on the telly when you see people who think their house is haunted because music or something keeps going even when they turn it off?" She nodded. "Well, they never listen to the music. They just know that it's playing. It isn't ghosts that make it play. Its aliens. Gaseous beings made from dust particles, luminescent plasma, and matter that are nothing but a couscous. And they feed off of creativity. Music, art, books. They love causing mischief. They came after you because you had music. But they also try and communicate through the music. That's why you need to listen to the music." He explained, all the while gesturing wildly with his hands. As soon as he was done, her favourite song began playing through the speaker on the lift.

"Somewhere all you darkest fears are gathering..." It began. She looked at the Doctor, who was looking up at the speaker. "It's not enough to save the day; you can't escape your nightmares!" It finished. She frowned and clenched her fists nervously. A shiny powder-like substance began floating through the crack in the doors. The Doctor began the lift again, and the girl allowed him to hold her hand. Before the lift stopped, something else played.

"Hey baby girl. I just want to let you know that I'll be a little late from work. Let your brother and mum know. Oh! And I have a surprise for you! I can't wait to see your face! I love you, bye." As soon as it ended, the Doctor looked at the girl, who had a tear coming out of her left eye.

"Hey, hey, hey, hey. What's the matter?" He asked, even though he knew perfectly well. He wiped the tears away with his thumbs as he bent down to her height and put a hand on either side of her face. And for the first time, she spoke to him.

"That's probably the last time I'm going to hear him." She said, her voice wavering. The Doctor looked at her sympathetically, worried for the young girl. A powdery humanoid shape floated in front of the open lift doors. She quickly took the silvery thing out of his pocket and buzzed it at the form, which scrambled it's particles to where it looked like a ball of angry bees. They ran out into the large foyer, her still brandishing the thing.

"Oy! Give that back!" The Doctor told her sternly. She did as she was told and they stood back-to-back in the centre of the foyer. "They're called the Force by the way. He said, matter-of-factly. "What're you called?" He asked, just as the Force began drifting into the room. There were at least 20 of them, and each one had a different noise about them. The room was filled with words, tunes, and noise that didn't go together. She covered her ears as the Doctor tried to scramble them as she had done earlier, but he couldn't. He gave it to her frantically and ran behind the reception counter, leaving her alone. She began scrambling the Force but they wouldn't stay that way unless the thing stayed pointed at them. There were too many for her. Suddenly the Doctor jumped out from behind the counter with a backpack-style vacuum and ran over to the girl. "Screwdriver!" He shouted, shoving the vacuum in her face. She quickly switched with him and put on the vacuum. She turned it on and, to her surprise, sucked the Force up. She smirked and ran after them, sucking them up one by one. After they were all in the vacuum she walked over to the Doctor and smiling, gave it to him. He smiled back and sat down in the middle of the floor cross-legged and looking up at her with doe eyes. She happily sat down next to him in the same manner and leaned her head on his shoulder as he buzzed the vacuum. "They usually aren't hostile, but I guess you being here -where they usually feed at night- angered them. I mean, because they are all over the world. Usually harmless. But I'll apologized to these little guys and let them out, but they'll probably have terms. You may need to go to a different library or not spend the night... speaking of, why are you here after they're closed?" He rambled. She gave him a sarcastic look. "What?" He asked innocently. "I haven't seen them here before so I came in!" He said. She smiled and took the screwdriver, inspecting it. She pushed her eyebrows together and pointed it at her fingernail and pressed the button, making it grow a couple centimetres. "Sonic screwdriver. It can control things with sonic frequencies... but not wood, deadlocks, or hairdryers." He explained. She raised an eyebrow. "It's from the future." He added. She gave him an unbelieving look. He cocked his head to the side. "You don't like to talk, do you?" He asked. She shrugged and he chuckled. "Well. Nuthin' wrong with that. But you may have to talk a little." He said, holding his hand up and putting his first and second finger about an inch apart. "And you still haven't told me your name." He added. She thought for a moment.

"Jane Smith." She lied. He gave her a disappointed look.

"Oh, come on. If you're going to lie at least be creative..." He whined, unimpressed. She smiled.

"Cetra Forrest." She admitted.

"Brilliant name! Haven't heard anything like that yet! Cetra Forrest..." He exclaimed, saying her name slowly so it sounded like, S-e-e-t-tr-ah-ffor-re-essstt. She smiled and leaned against his shoulder again. He smiled and thought. "I haven't heard you laugh yet either. If you want to come with me you'll have to laugh." He added. She pushed her eyebrows together again. "Oh, I guess I'll have to make you laugh. So until I can, you're coming with me." He commanded, standing up and bringing Cetra up with him. She smiled as he pulled her to the doors. He unlocked them and they went out, surprised to find it raining. Cetra squeaked and tried to cover her head with her bag. The Doctor laughed and put his coattail over her head and pulled her down the street to the TARDIS. She looked at it, very confused.

"I know what you're thinking; it's not a snog box! And there's plenty of room in it! He exclaimed, unlocking it and running inside. Cetra felt the wood on the frame and slowly walked in, ready to run. As soon as she could fully see the inside, she gasped. The Doctor smirked and leaned against the console. Cetra ran out into the rain and ran around the blue box. She ran back in and looked at him with wide eyes. "Okay, you have to say this one." He commanded, smiling at her.

"It-it's bigger on the inside..." She said quietly, but still getting the surprise across. He grinned and ran up to her, bending down a bit to her height and putting his hands on her shoulders.

"This is gonna be brilliant!" He said cheekily.
