Weeping Girl - Version 3: Stone Hands
With my legs brought to my chest, I cried into my knees. I had done it again. I had made people disappear. I didn’t know I did it, I just always could. I secluded myself from the world when I realized what I could do. Whoever I touched, just disappeared. I don’t know where they go, I just never see them again. Only minutes ago a few boys were taunting me because of my silence. They shoved me, so I shoved them back. Oh how stupid can I be.
Not only can I make people disappear, but when I do, my hands turn to stone and I can’t move them for about 20 minutes. I hated it. I hated what I could do. The orphanage had named me Eben, meaning stone. They hadn’t witnessed my power, but they saw my stone hands as a baby. My theory is that I made my parents disappear.
“Something wrong?” I heard a voice asked and I looked up to see a man with confused looking brown hair. He wore a white button up shirt with a dark maroon tie. Over that he had a dark blue pullover and the same colour formal pants. He then had red sneakers on and a brown trench coat. I wiped away the tears with my arm, making sure both my sleeves covered my hands.
“Yeah…” I said hesitantly and looked down on to the ground. The strange man placed his hands in his pockets and starting rocking on his feet.
“Well, it certainly doesn’t look like it. If you’d like I can help. I’m sort of an expert.” I sniffled.
“In what?” I asked, uncertain.
“Well, everything.” He said and stared at me. I frowned.
“Who are you?” I asked and he smiled.
“I’m the doctor.” He said and I scoffed.
“A doctor can’t help me…” I said as I looked away.
“I’m not a normal doctor. Can you tell me what’s wrong?” I sniffed and slowly stood up and stared at him. He was taller than I so I had to look up. I looked down to the ground again and nodded.
“Okay…but not here.” We were in front of the school, where I was certain somebody had sawn what I had done. He nodded.
“Okay then. Allons-y.” He said and tried to make a grab for my hand but I quickly retracted. He looked confused but I just shook my head.
“Over here.” I said silently and turned around, making my way to the back of the school. He followed me. Once we reached the dark side of the school, I turned to him.
“I don’t know who you are.” I told him, strictly.
“I told you, I’m the Doctor.” He responded. I frowned.
“Doctor who?” He smiled.
“Exactly.” He said with a smile. I stared at him for about 10 seconds before giving up. I tugged my sleeves upwards and showed my hands to the strange man. He took a sharp intake of breath.
“My hands turn to stone when I touch people.” I told him and he just stared at me in disbelief. He reached into his trench coat and took out a little metal stick thingee. He came over to me and shown a light on my hands. He then took this little gadget and stared at the small scene on it. A look of disbelief was clearly plastered on his face.
“No, no, this can’t be right. Tell me, is there anything else?” He asked me, staring at me. I nodded.
“Well… I can make people disappear by touching them, then they turn to stone.” His eyes widened and he let the gadget fall. He looked scared, and I understand why. Everyone would be afraid of me.
“What is it?” I asked him, quite curious and confused.
“Weeping angel…” He muttered.
